edmunson can play but still raw. bettwr tgat bates not as good as soutar.

20 May 2019 20:44:17
congrats to steve Clarke---right man for the job---maybe bring some pride back to the dark blue--I was brought up in the baxter caldow law era and dalgleish to name but a few---I know the clowns at the sfa are a joke but time to get behind this guy---great appointment and i'm sure the timmies were hovering so all good.

20 May 2019 21:37:49
Totally with on this deecee. Well written post mate. I was brought up through the scotland era of souness,
bud johnston, bruce rioch, martin buchan, big DJ, super cooper, kenny dalgleish, archie gemmill, all part of ally's tartan army heading to argentina in 1978.We had some terrific players in the scotland team, also big joe jaws jordan and big gordon McQueen. Superb. Always have been, always will be a very proud scotland supporter. I love my country as we all should do as its the country of our birth!

20 May 2019 22:43:20
I love my country n proud to be scottish doesn't mean i love the jokers who run our game n treated big eck disgustingly as well as our team for years.

21 May 2019 00:29:25
I’m raging at the SFA for this appointment. Not because we won’t get him, and let’s be clear, he’s a top manager who would do a great job for us. What gets me is that the SFA have taken a manager from a member club who is currently enjoying their most successful period in over 50 years. They did it with Levein as well when he was at Dundee Utd. They were in second place back then. They’ve weakened the league because of this. I’m a big Scotland fan and I want a successful team but I also want a competitive league and Kilmarnock over the last couple of years have given us both a hard time. They will not get a replacement anywhere near the calibrate of Clarke and may end up in a relegation dogfight next year. I’ll get behind Scotland and Steve Clarke but I have to say that decisions like this just reinforces my opinion that the biggest obstacle to the development of Scottish football is the SFA.

21 May 2019 04:21:17
I never watch Scotland but believe
The sfa have done this with the purpose of weakening Kilmarnock
As he seems to bring out the best in players.

21 May 2019 09:06:11
Sfa not bright enough to think like that.

21 May 2019 11:35:48
The sfa have appointed steve clarke with only the intention of weakening kilmarnock🤔 If the sfa did not appoint clarke another team down south would have, would that team down south be held responsible for making scottish football less competitive🤔. Coybig and macbow, sorry gents but that has to be some of the most outrageous nonsense that I have ever read on here. Managers and players move on every year to bigger and better teams and leagues. Its called progressing their career👍.

21 May 2019 13:50:46
I give it 6 months before he quits. Those dinosaurs at the SFA won't like an outspoken manager and any sort of progression will upset the old-boys club.

21 May 2019 16:40:02
Lol coldco manager of Scotland progressing your career
I guess he will be on the same sort
Of wage he was on at killie.

21 May 2019 17:18:33
Coldo, if a team from England poaches Clark, they can do so without any concern for the consequences. They have no interest or responsibility to Scottish football and I have no problem with that. The SFA, however, have a massive responsibility to Scottish football as they are the parent organisation. They should try to keep our game as competitive as they possibly can. Macbow, I’m not sure if I can agree with you that it was done with the intent of weakening Kilmarnock but it most certainly has done that and I will agree with you that this is not a career progression.

21 May 2019 18:10:54
The scotland job is bigger than the killie job and is career progression. You's both need to stop being silly now👍.

21 May 2019 19:01:45
Yes, it’s a bigger job so in that respect it is a career progression. The problem is that he will be tasked with getting us to the finals of a major tournament which we can’t do and he’ll be branded a failure and in the long term, that’s not good for anyone’s career.

22 May 2019 00:54:54
Coybig, that wasn't the point. You said that the sfa should not take a good coach from the spl because it is detrimental to the development of the league. By your theory celtic are responsible for the demise of other spl clubs for taking their best players. Your argument is nonsense mate. Bigger clubs will always get the better players/ managers. Clarke is no different. A lack of grass roots facilities and coaching are the reasons why there is a detrimental development of our league, the sfa are to blame for that mate👍.

22 May 2019 16:57:38
Coldo, Celtic and Rangers are responsible for the demise of other Scottish clubs. Both clubs have taken the best talent from the other clubs for decades because they have the financial power to do so. Neither club has a responsibility to the league as a whole, merely a responsibility to their own club and it’s fans. In short, we’ll plunder the opposition to make ourselves stronger and sometimes we might even do it to just to make the opposition weaker. That’s the nature of competition. However, the parent organisation should be looking at ways to help to develop the clubs individually and the league as a whole and that’s where I make the distinction. I agree about the lack of facilities and I think that should be addressed. I’m less certain about the coaching side as I have concerns that some players natural creativity may be stifled to an extent by coaching at an early age.

Ajax Team Analysis

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Ajax Team Analysis

20 May 2019 17:36:51
Steve Clarke confirmed as Scotland boss. I am so glad the Tims never got him as manager. Probably their best option was right under their noses. Maybe they did have the sense to go for him and he knocked them back? Who knows? Glad he won't be at them next year!

20 May 2019 17:59:45
Yip, c-of-ibrox, i'm really glad they didn't get/ go for steve clarke as their new manager. He's a very good manager and i have no doubt will do well as the scotland manager. Just can't believe why they never went all out to get clarke or maybe behind the scenes they sounded him out and he told them he wasn't interested. Clarke just hates all the west of scotland bigotry stuff that goes on and wouldn't want to be rangers or celtic manager because of it! Cracking manager too and pleased he's the new scotland manager. For once they SFA idiots have appointed the correct manager, for a change.

20 May 2019 19:05:17
Honestly not all that intetested in who the Scotland Manager is or how they are doing. Rangers for me first and foremost.

20 May 2019 19:34:02
same as me ar9 but doesn't hurt to have a manager out theleague who was a right pain in our ar$e.

no way Killie get anyone near that calibre as a replacement.

20 May 2019 21:00:15
See this "I am not interested in them" pish, it's laughable. Same goes when they say it about us. What they do affects us and vice versa. There has been loads of bluenoses on here and other places saying the hope Keith Lemon gets the job. I don't doubt its all about the Rangers for every single one of us. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!

20 May 2019 21:41:22
Will the not interested in our national team still not be interested in supporting our country, when rangers players start getting back regularly in our national team again? Because believe me we will have a good few back in the scotland fold in the future.

20 May 2019 21:58:42
Crazy statements re not interested in Scotland only interested in the gers. Don't you understand that having a strong internal team vastly improves the value of your players.

20 May 2019 22:08:55
Can only say it as i feel. Watched scotland on and off from early 70's but can't get excited about it. If and when Rangers players get selected i'm glad when they come back uninjured.

20 May 2019 22:37:48
Out of the four home nations of scotland, england, wales and northern ireland, no wonder some of our scottish born supporters are sconced and laughed at by the other home nations fans! You don't get england,
wales and northern ireland supporters, supporting one of the other home nation countries, against their own country and rightly so!
It only happens in this country and its totally wrong! I support scotland over any country we're playing, end of! This stupidity could only happen in scotland with some small minded fans.

20 May 2019 22:50:56
To be honest ar9 i'm exactly the same. I can't get excited about the national team. I'm just glad if our players come back fit and well. Couldn't care less what Scotland do or don't do. To be completely honest when I see the kilts and the hats with the long feathers it makes me want to boak.

21 May 2019 02:09:48
SC11 Well said, Scotland only for me.

21 May 2019 08:19:39
Supercooper

I live in England and I’ve never heard anyone laugh at Scottish football supporters. They laugh about the state of the side but not the supporters.

21 May 2019 09:35:08
Arthur D i've spoken to many an england fan and i can assure you they can't believe a Scotsman would support another home nation, over their own country!

21 May 2019 13:52:50
The tartan army boo all our players. How can anyone support that pish, no matter where you were born.

21 May 2019 18:07:11
Supercooper

Clarke has a cheek having a go at both Rangers and Celtic and the bigotry. The line about thanking Chelsea for taking him away from it was cringeworthy. The same Chelsea who had of the most notorious racist support and one of the most notorious football firms. Obviously Clarke chose to ignore this.

22 May 2019 03:24:00
Still can't believe airfield doesn't get a call up 🎣🥕.

20 May 2019 17:24:44
Oh well guys, another season over, and, I think much improved on last season. To have had the run we had in Europe, and, beaten them twice with almost a changed squad says a lot. I trust SG to get the right mix for next season, and, again some credit to Mark Allan for his work with Stevie. Have a good summer fellow bears, and return safe and healthy for next season.

20 May 2019 15:52:30
Just posting to see what everyone's opinion on young capo mebude debut, was only on roughly half an hour but though he never got involved enough

What's everyone's opinion?

20 May 2019 16:46:28
Definitely a talent looked fast but after being on a few minutes he gets clattered from behind the usual welcome to Scottish professional football but gave some back after that the future looks bright for him.

20 May 2019 16:47:35
I won’t judge him on one 30 minute cameo in a dead rubber as such for us.

20 May 2019 18:18:36
He got clattered from the back at least 3 times. No wonder we aren’t producing enough young talent well they get kicked as soon as they play.

20 May 2019 19:18:26
Agreed Arthur and also no wonder when the first comment is a fan jumping online to moan about how a bloody seventeen year old did in his first half hour of competitive football!

20 May 2019 22:10:57
What the lad has is speed, unfortunately the way teams play against us he won't be able to use it in the last 20 yards!

20 May 2019 15:47:41
Guys what's your thoughts on all our activity directed at the free transfer market and players from lower league's I thought the brief was to add quality?

20 May 2019 18:25:57
transfer window hasn't even opened yet. let's wait and see.

20 May 2019 19:02:13
We are probably going to have around 10 players leave so we are going to have to replace them we will need I'd say 4 quality players to come in to enhance the 1st eleven and the rest will be squad players but better squad players than the ones that will be departing.

20 May 2019 22:11:40
Whose going to buy these 10 players then?

21 May 2019 06:35:50
Hellowrtbb who said anything about teams buying them? Some will be out of contract and loans returning to their own clubs and I'm sure a few will be sold maybe not for a great deal of money and others let go due to not being in Gerrard plans, why is it on here as soon as anyone posts anything folk jump right on it as if no one is allowed an opinion.

20 May 2019 14:59:13
Morelos out for 4 weeks yet immediately recalled he gets booked and out great run of victories comes to an end. There is more than coincidence at work here, too much faith in him and he doesn't change, but our tactics without him proved not only do we not need him, but we are a better team all round WITHOUT him. Time to take the money and use it wisely.

20 May 2019 16:21:06
Alternatively we made 5 changes and morelos and Kent were the only 2 that looked like doing anything, and he scored.

20 May 2019 17:41:11
Aye it was all fredos fault biting to do with all the other changes we made, some fans are clueless.30 goals this season.

20 May 2019 17:43:09
Ladies and gentlemen . chalk meets cheese!

20 May 2019 18:24:12
Even sutton said the booking was nonsense. Morelos gets dogs abuse all match and then makes a gesture that's no different to cupping his ears, which happens every week without punishment, and gets booked by the jobsworth collum. Maybe ask questions of worral, barisic, candeias and halliday who came in and weren't exactly great. Or Ryan jack who couldn't pass a ball 5 yards. Some people just have an agenda on here.

21 May 2019 09:56:24
Last game of the season with nothing to play for, 5 changes and still only lost to a penalty. Bit like going into work, with a hangover on your last day before 4 weeks hols. Going through the motions.

20 May 2019 14:52:49
what on earth has happened to Matt Polster? never listed as a sub yet we rushed his signing on back in January. A waste of a decent player AND a fair wage too I would have thought.

20 May 2019 13:19:09
Disappointing end to the season, not that it matters really but what it did reinforce was who we rely on and who we don't. So the exodus begins, for me these are the players who for whatever reason don't have a future at us.

Out - Alnwick Foderingham McAuley Worral Barasic Wallace Koulibaly Grezda Candieas Lafferty. (Possibly rossiter and docherty) . Of course Kent but hopefully he returns. that's a huge cull again and that list is the reason for our inconsistencies, in short we never had any decent quality as back up.

People will disagree but in my eyes we never really saw any real progression until just before the split when we put 6 wins together, that hadn't been achieved since the 11/ 12 season. Up until the split we were still struggling with inconsistency.

Anyway so far we have brought in hastie jones and it looks very much like stewart has already joined. We all know that they won't improve the starting 11 but what they are is players who have proved beyond any doubt that they can play in our league, they were the best players at their respective clubs, they are risk free and will add proven spl quality and depth to our squad that should help rid us of our inconsistencies. On a free they are no brainers.

I do think we are a better team with defoe up top, he is more intelligent in his play than morelos. There was a few times yesterday when morelos could have passed it but opted to shoot. I think defoe is more of a team player. It was some finish from morelos but if he is sold to fund the 3 or 4 players we need then I will have no problem with that.

With murphy and dorrans (who gave us a glimpse of what he can do that night in villareal) coming back and with the addition of three or four quality players coupled with a back bone of players who no longer have a fear then we really should be in a better place for next season.

Make no excuses though, this season was an opportunity wasted👍.

20 May 2019 13:37:51
Can't understand why Candieas is so unpopular? Not a world beater I grant you but I think he has had a good season.

20 May 2019 14:02:21
Are folk forgetting we also have the likes of Holt Herrera Dodoo etc to come back aswell? There are plenty who could go this summer but as the gaffer said when the window opens its about quality rather than quantity this time around.

20 May 2019 14:02:34
I admire his work rate bimo but he does lack that bit of quality and very rarely beats a man. With murphy jones and hastie being more direct I struggle to see where he fits in. 👍.

20 May 2019 14:24:45
Good post, hope I'm wrong, but Ohalloran 2.0 er I mean Jones just ain't good enough, Hastie has potential so does Middleton they both need real games, if not for us then loans. Roll on colt teams getting the green light. Stewart I just don't see the point. We need a really imposing CB better than Goldson So we can rotate over a season. Left back, and striker fill these 3 spots with better class players and we are looking good.

20 May 2019 14:42:44
Candieas incredibly over rated because he works hard doesn't give him a free pass.
Average player and for us to improve he must move on.

20 May 2019 15:19:09
It should be a Given that a Professional Footballer Gives 100% Candieas gets stick because of his final ball and his crossing ie were it matters. if he sorted that part of his game out he would be a Great Player.

20 May 2019 15:33:26
Bimotablue

Candeias is far too inconsistent and very rarely has a run of games. When he is bad he is awful and too many times he just doesn’t turn up. It’s clear to see why he has had the nomadic career that he has had. Typical of why we didn’t win the league far too inconsistent.

20 May 2019 15:49:33
Agree with most of your points coldo
I would like candaeis to stay useful guy to have around given his energy n he can get us up the pitch when we need it even if mostly from the bench.

20 May 2019 16:34:27
Coldo you really had me thinking that was a serious post until you mentioned Dorrans! Lol!

Every player you mentioned is better than him. I would even put Alnwick into a midfield before him! Total imposter!

20 May 2019 17:29:43
Zikos u obv don’t have a clue about football if u believe that. What a pile of bs .

20 May 2019 19:23:01
Scotty I tend to think I do, and saw every one of Dorrans’s appearances for us and he was p@£s poor in every single one (bar none) . Scott Brown owned him in every old firm match they played.

He did score a good goal in a cup game v Partick Thistle (which is probably his level) but was rank for the rest of the match.

I think a central midfielder, above anything, should be able to pass the ball and retain possession. The absolute basics. He can’t even do that! Then when he losses the ball, he can’t even put the fort into winning it back!

Out of Interest Scotty can you remember any standout performances? And not when he played for West Brom!

20 May 2019 19:37:38
the game when he scored a double against Motherwell to help us win 2-1 might ruin your argument mate.

20 May 2019 20:44:35
Considering one was a penalty I don’t think it’s any great feat. From a midfielder, I would be more interested in his passing accuracy and the amount of tackles he won?

Listen it’s nothing personal, I just don’t think he is good enough. He certainly wouldn’t get a game for Celtic and for me that means by default he isn’t good enough for us, we need better players to challenge them.

For me Doherty and Rossiter offer more but maybe SG sees something he can work with?

Hopefully he proves me completely wrong and is player of the season next year with us winning the league, although I can’t see it (not the winning the league part - I can see that) .

20 May 2019 12:06:01
Fat fingers hit send
Hope Gazza's is well and hands in the air for FERNANDO RICKSEN.

20 May 2019 13:11:44
Christ Chunky you must have a good drink in ye, as your bllethering like a budgie😭😬🇬🇧.

20 May 2019 15:50:22
Sounds a great holiday chunky
Enjoy👍.

22 May 2019 03:30:19
Disagree with every part of this post. No progress? We have a team containing leaders who aren't scared anymore. We were a team of s bags last year who curled into a ball at one down. What would the score be at Celtic park with ten men last season? Were closer than you think I reckon. Depth of squad won it this season but combined eleven were as good. One window away I really believe 19/ 20 is ours.

20 May 2019 12:02:22
Would like to mention that we are high up in the coverage in all papers and posts on the net. If there is a post about sceltic it is always hijacked by the famous, I love this even though they have had a good season I feel people even sceltic supporters can't help but talk about us. PS I am on hols in Fuerteventura loving life reading Gazza's book. Would like to give.

20 May 2019 11:51:13
Think we had a good season in all, it could have been much better but at least we know where we stand and what is needed. We would be happy to be in this situation 12 months ago. SG is a world class football man who expects the best from every player or he will cut them free, we will get there Alfredo has messed up a good few times but the man who made no mistakes learned nothing, he is clumsy at challenging but would rather have his 30 goals all day long. Thought we should have played more of the fringe players to make or break them, also the pitch is a liability to our good players. I can see only good times ahead. Oh it's every other Saturday's my half day off .

20 May 2019 11:00:36
Any thoughts on the probable signing of Greg Stewart? For me this is not a Rangers standard player .

20 May 2019 12:23:33
Think he is a good squad player in a position we are short. He will do well I think, but there will be someone better too, I am pretty sure.

maybe we should put in a cheeky loan bit for Bale LOL.

20 May 2019 13:13:01
Give Stevie G the respect guys as it’s him who makes the signings 🇬🇧.

20 May 2019 10:36:10
Top 3 points of the season bears? For me
3- back in group stages of a major euro comp
2- mcgregor back in goal
1- of course Ryan rack vs Celtic.

20 May 2019 10:25:55
Good morning to all Bear's, 1st time back in over a year, just reflecting on the season gone and what a rollercoaster it was, some real highs tinged with lows and inconsistencies, i really believe had it not been for some shocking performances the title was there for the taking, roll on next season. Just like to congratulate Killie on automatic qualification for Europe next season (yes that pitch has no place in modern professional football) but credit where its due they punched way above their weight throughout, how the sheep must be regretting raising their game against us and then forgetting to do the same against the rest of the league 🤬🤣 so with that in mind and the obvious c'mon Heart's.

20 May 2019 11:13:05
Great post Sotonbear.

20 May 2019 09:55:21
Not posted in a while but I feel this was a wasted opportunity this season. We threw away too many stupid points and lacked consistancy and the ability to grind out results when needed . Such a frustrating season when you know the players could do so much better. We have the core of a good team but need 3 or 4 top quality players to take the title next season. Barisic Worral (glad his loan is over) Lafferty Grezda Candeais etc are simply not good enough and need to be moved on if possible. We need a centre half right winger striker and hope we can keep hold of Kent.

20 May 2019 13:37:25
There was a worrying lack of consistency at times, individually and as a team we seemed to be unable to maintain any form.

The biggest disappointment was after beating them we never kicked on and put them under any pressure. If the win had come just after the break and not before things might have been different.

20 May 2019 08:04:27
A disappointing end to the season following our six-in-a-row wins. Maybe SG should have kept Katic and Arfield here and played them and I think Defoe merited another start. It shows that we still need strength in depth and that these horrible plastic pitches are great levellers. Get shot of Morelos - the team has a better shape without him and he is a liability.

If Morelos stays he needs schooling on how to kick and then help his victim up, . looks as if he cares etc. Makes the propaganda real.

20 May 2019 08:33:46
That’s so true! Lol.

19 May 2019 22:46:27
Just want to thank coulibally and worral for their service to our great club. It didn't quite work out for them both but wish them all the best when they return to their clubs.
Hopefully I'm not saying the same about Clark and we can keep him another year or more.

20 May 2019 00:14:11
Yeah thanks to both😂😂😂😂.

20 May 2019 07:37:45
I wouldn't like to thank Worral for his efforts as he's woeful. Thank goodness the loan was only a year.

20 May 2019 11:15:08
Thank Worrall? What for?
