Just back from holiday last night, so I've been catching up on all the goings ons and speculations about who's coming in or who's being linked to rangers, I've a really good feeling about everything about the club at this moment in time, but being a ranger these days, anything positives a plus a suppose, don't know much about the big defender called "rob" but if everything's true about him pulling the plug on a 2 year contract with Birmingham to come and work under mark warburton and play with Rangers, well that's a great start, plus going for a guy that's played at a better level for the past 10 year, the 35 year old from Derby, without knowing to much about him, that's another right step for me, everything's looking pretty decent at the moment, am just hoping come half way through the season, we're sitting pretty at the top of the championship, and our teams got some right cracking players playing for the jersey! Mon the Bears

He didn't pull out. Birmingham pulled out because of concerns over his medical.

Birmingham never pulled out, he pulled out when he found out Warburton was interested

Depending on whose side of the story you believe, flyfifer.

Time will tell the lad insists he backed out, rather than the medical indiscretion being reported.

You think signing a 35 year old is the way ahead?

Obviously not if we have 11 of them, perhaps he sees him as a lynch-pin and someone the young players will learn from and respect. Pretty sure his plans are to promote youth, let's just give the guys a chance, let them do things their own way. Can't be any worse than last 3 years.

According to the players representatives FlyFifer it was the player that called it off at the last minute because of the interest from Warburton & Rangers it was Birmingham who put that story out to make themselves look better

Only a testimonial vs Annan for one of their players. Heard rumours of Leeds but nothing concrete

I think there might be a game against Canna, after the recent law breaking on the small isle. Great views from the Cuillin ridge btw.

Yep there's an away tie to Leeds, rumour has it the police tried to get the friendly match changed to ibrox cause of soon crowd trouble at last game but it's going ahead at Leeds

i see we are thinking bout signing 35 year old john eustace formerly of derby sitting midfielder and he will be handed captions armband he had his injury problems last season with derby but when he was in the team they played better as a result what do fellow bears think bout him
why do all these players keep coming out in the paper and telling wilson he is to good for championship so in other words to good for rangers leave the lad to decide his future he doesn't tell them where to move to seems bit like sour grapes to me

Eustace sounds a good signing,as a defensive mid i'd rather have experience and a leader type than youth to balance the team
Wilson is too good for championship but so is allan. They are lookin long term at 3-4 years down the line with rangers challenging celtic again. Hearts players saying it but was it not the same situation when he signed for them really?

if we are running about looking for a mature holding mdfelder to captain the team why not go for someone who has done the job before barry ferguson he knows what its all about I know he has been at clyde for a year but his last season at blackpool he played well enough I saw h quite a few times and don't think he would be hard to deal with he would at least play the captains roll better than eustace

better in the past with someone u know can do the job than someone who is injury prone amd derogative remaks about the club last close season

Apart from snadys 10 in a row chant he is absolutely spot on fresh change yadda yadda then bang bring back Barry my lord get a grip

I'm not sure Eustace is the answer. We need a midfield playmaker not another holding midfielder. Murdoch can do that role so don't see the point of getting someone in who is 35 and has injury issues.

No bigwull I have to disagree with u on that one. Eustace would be a good signing he would certainly help bring are young players along

Hopefully Eustace does the business and proves to be an inspirational signing like Davie Weir.

As for shandybhoy, comedy gold from your assistant yesterday claiming Virgil Van Dyck was the best defender in Europe. And your lot say Rangers fans are deluded.

BIGWULL

Thank god you are only responsible for postingcrazy old pals nonsense and nothing at all to do with team selection.

Barry "Greetin faced wean in changing room" Ferguson that destroyed the last great opportunity with Paul LeGuen, turning the changing room against LeGuen plus refusing to stick to LeGuen's dietry and tactics plans.

Yes he would be perfect! Aside from the fact he was mince in the Premiership anyway found out big time.

Warburton and Weir for management and Bigwull for madcap posting. perfect.

eustace could turn out to be a very shrewd signing in my opinion remember hemdani he played a similar role for rangers moping up everything in front of defence and eustace will do the same looking at our team it defiantly lacks any experience and a leader on the pitch personally I would take him on a free on 1 year contract

Have to take issue with you re Barry Ferguson, KT. By all accounts he was a very good player with Blackburn in the Premiership. Had a horrendous injury when he broke his kneecap but did well enough to make his manager Mark Hughes try every trick in the book to stop him re- signing for us. Also heard a Birmingham fan say that he thought Ferguson was one of the best midfielders he had seen in a Blues shirt. No doubt in my mind Ferguson was a class apart from anything in Scotland at the moment and only blotted his copybook by making an arse of himself while on Scotland duty. Good enough for Advocaat to bring him into the team and eventually make him club captain. And that's when we were spending big bucks. Having said all that I don't believe bringing him back now would work as I don't think it would work with the boy Eustace (unfortunate name btw- can see the posts already talking about 'useless Eustace'.

Noddy

He was okay in a non successful lower league Blackburn team not the European or World class player he looked a few times under Advocaat, but I take your point, he was hardly a dud, that said he is a greetin faced wean in the dressing room and a nightmare for any manager. So definately not what we want under Warburton and Weir who are looking to revolutionise everything at Rangers from the youth up.
