don't know about use but I would like to go for the big boy who played against us in the Helsinki friendly the boy looked good.

20 Jul 2019 21:23:39
Maybe he's got a girlfriend and she might not be too pleased, only a thought!

21 Jul 2019 08:31:11
Aye, I heard he's hung like a Shire horse as well.

21 Jul 2019 10:01:30
Laughed out loud at this. Ah the simple things in life lol.

21 Jul 2019 16:59:40
what a load of codswallop.

21 Jul 2019 18:46:08
Eetu Vertainen agree he was brilliant on the day not sure he's set the world a light since.

20 Jul 2019 16:41:54
Personally I don't see Tavs going to Newcastle unless they offer mad wages to him Newcastle is not good club to go to giving the way they are run
James Tavernier loves Rangers and knows where his bread is buttered

You can look at this two ways, he is away to come into his peak years so chances are he will be at his best and Rangers are due some silverware, which I feel they will get this year (hopefully 55 🤞) and himself and others at the club will get this and deservedly so

Secondly, maybe other suitors see that he has matured and know that his best years here now, if they want him he is worth between a modest 12-15m bracket at a good age 27

Let's no compare KT with JT as Tavernier is better in an attacking sense and Teirney is better at defending!

Overall, it's a hard one to choose I will say last year, Tavs was better simply due playing times he is incredible and Me Reliable NEVER injured! Teirney wasnt the same player as the previous year due to injuries!

Having said all of this you have a lad that is only 22/ 23 who could potentially be another Andy Robertson and Tavs is 27 hence the values are different and also the fact that one has Champions League experience under his belt

I reckon if Celtic are wanting 25m for Keiran Teirney then Rangers should be looking at looking at 15m for Tavs
I reckon that is a really reasonable ask.

20 Jul 2019 17:45:33
As you said, 25m for an injured player who contributes absolutely nothing to the attacking side of a squad. Or 15m for a player who is never injured who CAN defend, far better than he did in his 1st few seasons, but has consistently provided an added threat and goals. I'd swap those valuations to be honest.

20 Jul 2019 19:05:00
TAV will be half the player if Candeias goes.

20 Jul 2019 20:10:00
DEEB that's nonsense. When morelos was suspended Tav was out the side as Arfield was playing there and we played far better football. Even if candieas does stay he will be a bit part player as Ojo is far better player think that's pretty clear.

20 Jul 2019 22:08:04
Tav will be exposed without DC however, he’ll still create more goals than he causes.

20 Jul 2019 23:05:13
I don't think it's hard to choose at all. Tierney is a good player, but has never did anything of note to merit any of the hype and is not anywhere near the level of Robertson - thry only thing they have in common is being Scottish. Not even sure he would play for Arsenal ahead of Monreal - KT is
a decent full back who is injury prone. Only managed 90 minutes about 13 times last season.

Tav has played 198 times for us in 4 years, almost 50 games a season - a mind blowing stat. Never injured, rarely ever booked never mind suspended and has 43 goals + more assists than you can count. He can play full back, wing back or even wide right and influential in everything we do. Tierney was covered by Johnny Hayes.

21 Jul 2019 11:14:33
@GF7, agree with most of that except the bit "He can play full back" lol.

21 Jul 2019 14:21:26
Tierney is very good attacking, what player have you been watching? He isn’t Robertson but he’s considerably better than Tav. For his age and ability the Tims are within their rights to ask what they are, especially from an English club. We could take a lesson from them in getting value for our players. In saying that, £10m is probably fair for Tav. He’s a good bit older than Tierney and is probably at this point never going to improve much defensively and will be an utter liability down there. Folk here go on about his assists without subtracting from the total how many goals he costs us. Also his goal return - he hits all the penalties and half the free kicks. Watching Polster’s deliveries through the week, if he replaced Tav I’m sure he would get double digit assists too.

21 Jul 2019 16:47:53
Paul86

Its not nonsense, I don't know if you go to games but if yoy did you should have seen DC covering for Tav a great many times; its a fact.

21 Jul 2019 18:42:20
Bryan you really are clueless you really, you should stop watching football to be honest.

20 Jul 2019 16:19:55
Will be an interesting few weeks and a few of us will be left with egg on our faces if Tav and Morelos are sold.

Some think Tav is a crap defender and we should take anything above ÂŁ3m for him, others say ÂŁ10m

Similarly, some say take ÂŁ5m for Morelos and others say ÂŁ20m.

My concern is how we replace these guys and still improve the 1st team without spending most of the proceeds.

If we sell Tav for less than ÂŁ10m and Morelos for less than ÂŁ16m I'll be surprised and disappointed but assume that SG would have ready made replacements in the wings.

Time will tell who knows more.

20 Jul 2019 18:16:34
I’ll high 5 SG if he gets anywhere near those prices, we’d be laughing all the way to the bank!

I look forward to watching both players at Ibrox next season.

20 Jul 2019 20:56:32
I too would like to see both stay but if they both left and we got a net £20m I would take it tomorrow given that we paid no more than £1.4m for the pair. We would have to have replacement lined up as I don’t believe SG will allow either to leave late in the window.

20 Jul 2019 23:24:53
Money in the bank is worthless if the team on the pitch is weaker, we must find a way of improving the squad overall if either of these players go!

21 Jul 2019 17:01:57
money in the bank is what's called running a business prpperly.

20 Jul 2019 16:12:34
What about 15 million for tavernier and jabba the hut servers all ties with us once and for all?

20 Jul 2019 15:19:45
A lot of paper talk about Tav and Morelos. Papers know as much as us about what is and is not happening. Tav will go if the price is right - and the going rate for a captain and a seasoned right back is around ÂŁ20 million.
Morelos will also go if the price is right - the negative snipers are going as low as ÂŁ5 million, but we know where their allegiances lie. Personally I think he will go for ÂŁ25 million - that price will stop any haggling or doubt and would make a quick sale. He knows he has to grow a pair and man up and become more savvy - hope he has learned from SG and Defoe.

Interesting few weeks ahead.

20 Jul 2019 20:29:18
So you want 45mil for tav and morelos🤔.

20 Jul 2019 21:36:16
You would expect close to 30m for the pair of these guys What you think Coldo?

20 Jul 2019 21:57:07
In my humble honest opinion, the max i think we would get if we sold tav and alfredo would be ÂŁ25million.

20 Jul 2019 22:10:08
Nothing wrong with that Mr Negative.

20 Jul 2019 23:35:19
25mil mark for both is a reasonable figuređź‘Ť.

21 Jul 2019 10:58:29
Those two worth less than Tierney?

20 Jul 2019 14:30:58
Remember a few weeks ago Stevie g said every player has a price and I remember someone sayin 10mil for tav and 20mil for alfmo.

20 Jul 2019 13:00:15
Watching some of the training videos on rangers TV and you can really tell the emphasis on intensity and finding space to break teams down.

I've noticed though that Docs training gear is different to everyone else's, everyone else has their initials in white on their gear yet Docs is in Black with red trim - just seems bizarre, anyone know why that is?

20 Jul 2019 13:31:31
Think his mum packed the wrong outfit - nothing sinister.

20 Jul 2019 16:10:42
Him and Graham Dorrans have the same intitals it’s just so they know who’s kit is who’s.

21 Jul 2019 18:41:29
Ahh makes sense. I knew it was nothing sinister just with the wrong facing chevrons recently etc. It caught my eye.

20 Jul 2019 13:02:40
Was meant to finish with only my opinion what do youse think?

20 Jul 2019 12:38:24
Guys think we all know Moreleos will leave in this window personally hope we don't accept anything under 15million with 2O% sell on clause trust Stevie G to have a good replacrment which I know will be hard to find someone who will score 3O + a season but genuinely I think we will miss Tav more
Only.

20 Jul 2019 09:46:20
I see that tue daily rebel is reporting that Newcastle want tav. I'd ask for at least 15M. Tho personally i want him to stay but if we do sell then get as much off the fat Rat as possible.

20 Jul 2019 10:42:01
Do you think he would go to them, fair enough for much more money or stay 1 more season and captain us to the title? Legendary status that would be.

20 Jul 2019 10:48:58
I don't want Tav to go but maybe it could be used in a deal to get Ashley out of our club properly.

20 Jul 2019 11:11:00
You could ask for 15m but unlikely to get. We and the world know he's not the greatest defender. Newcastle need strikers and will be desperate to add to Bruce's squad. 7m tops. Only Morelos will provide a real payday!

20 Jul 2019 11:42:25
we are in the fortunate position Robbie that tavs at his peak, our captain and most importantly on a long contract

I firmly believe we are a far stronger team with tav (sorry polster flanno don't even come close) as he’s central to all our attacking play and therefore crucial for 55

given the circus surrounding SD retail i’d ask 20m

in short, fat ashley can Foxtrot Alpha.

20 Jul 2019 12:53:14
At the end of the day, Rangers football club is a business, if we want to move forward, not only on the park, but as a brand, their needs to be smart business moves made. If we're talking 20m for a player we paid 1m for, and ( imo ) 7 to 10 for Tav, who we paid 250k for, then that is the kind of business the club cannot afford to pass up. I strongly believe Gerrard will guide us to 55 and he has a plan which is being seen this season more than last in terms of his own squad and approach. No player is bigger than the club.

20 Jul 2019 13:03:38
Will be astounded if we deal with ashley.

20 Jul 2019 13:06:58
Id say don't do business with them whatsoever while he's in charge.

20 Jul 2019 09:46:03
I was all happy this transfer window when we were brining in players and getting rid of those we don't need, but now I'm getting worried that in the last half of the window we are going to lose some of our best players.

This morning's need got me worried about Alfredo and Tav and it got me thinking. Would people be happy if we sold both of them and made enough money to buy Kent, and then spend 5 million each on a right back and a striker? Do we have the confidence that with that money we would bring in the same level of quality?

20 Jul 2019 11:14:43
I’m not sure, but you’re never sure when you buy new players.

Defoe is not going to give us 30+ goals. Polster is not the right back to replace Tav. However replacing Tav and getting a similar player will cost us closer to 10m or above
So that’s a problem, his goals, delivery and style of play costs money, so we should be charging big bucks if we let him go or he wants to go.

If they go it must be now not in 2 weeks and it must be for at least 30m combined.

20 Jul 2019 11:21:43
If tav goes for over 10 mill that
Is a result the guy can't defend
What he brings we already have players in place that do what he does.

20 Jul 2019 11:24:05
I don't want us to make wholesale changes to our first team. Were supposed to be building on last season not rebuilding the whole squad.

20 Jul 2019 11:24:38
Why are you so worried - are you the manager?

I believe that SG is in control and if he sanctions moves for Tav and Morelos it will be because he is comfortable with it and think it will not affect his chances of success this season.

20 Jul 2019 12:13:21
A don't understand peoples obsession with bringing Kent back. I feel we are more than strong enough to cope without him👍🏻.

20 Jul 2019 12:13:58
I honestly think it’s just paper talk to be honest. Both are good players and will no doubt have great seasons up here but I don’t think either are EPL class or are worth the money we expect. What’s good to see is neither player appear to be pushing for the transfer (I’m surprised by Morelos as I’d have expected him to throw his toys out the pram) . I honestly think both will still be at Rangers until at least Christmas. Going but to your point, I don’t think we should over pay for Kent, he’s a very good player but not worth double figures, from my point of view, I wouldn’t be happy with us over paying for Kent regardless of the other two positions.

20 Jul 2019 12:29:11
I don’t know it’s seems to me if we don’t sign Kent we’re doomed get a grip guys.

20 Jul 2019 12:47:00
spot on royalblue99. I have said on numerous occasions that I do think he is a good player, but not worth the money being asked for.

20 Jul 2019 13:07:47
polster may be better than you think. just needs games and confidence. not saying he is equal to tav, but a replacement, yes along with flan. probably need a backup left back tho, although barisic could move too.

great to have players good enough that teams want them tho. its been a while tbh.

20 Jul 2019 13:04:30
Both bring way more than Kent to the team. We definitely couldn't bring the same level of quality straight away, it's finding people who are raw or rough around the edges and making them that quality.

Could lose Alfie and cope I think, as who better for someone to learn from than defoe - Tav though would be a big big loss.

20 Jul 2019 14:39:33
Would tend to agree that the price for Kent is to high for what he is worth, but I do feel that after a debut season he would kick on in Scotland and could be one of the best players in the league.

Totally agree in that this window should have been about adding qualityy to an already decent squad but I feel if Tav and Morelos go, it will feel more like another rebuilding job.

I've think for us to win the league we need the majority of the squad to not be in their first season in Scotland. That's the key yo consistency and grinding out results.

20 Jul 2019 15:24:11
A small question to you macbow. Who does as good a job at right back at rangers that tav does mate? I'll answer it while i'm waiting on your response, absolutely nobody. No current right back at ibrox comes anywhere near james tavernier, who without a doubt is easily the best right back in scottish football, easily pal! So macbow sorry for being blunt, but if you or anyone else for that matter thinks we have anyone that can do anywhere near as good a job as tav does then you're very much deluded and void of playing position knowledge.

20 Jul 2019 17:35:51
Totally agree sg loyal he's arguably our most important player as we have cover for most other positions but nobody near as good as tavernier.

20 Jul 2019 23:01:54
Well said SGL I really don’t understand those who can not see what Tav brings and his value. He has won us games! A right back winning games! Enough said.

Review Of The Day 20th July 2019

20 Jul 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 20th July 2019

20 Jul 2019 07:04:51
Bears i see the daily record are reporting this morning, that eintract frankfurt had scouts at ibrox on thursday night, watching our striker alfredo morelos again. They were seemingly very impressed with him again and are now almost certain to put in a bid to sign him.
The german club have sold their 2 strikers in luka jovi (ÂŁ62million) and seb haller (ÂŁ45million) this close season. So they do have plenty money to burn, ÂŁ107million to be exact. I've said all close season that i really do think morelos will be sold. Only my own personal opinion.

20 Jul 2019 09:21:39
Coop, I agree I think Morelos will go. I also seen Newcastle looking at Tav.
I’d be happy to let either one go but not both and financially we should reject anything less that 15m for either!

20 Jul 2019 09:28:03
To be perfectly honest with you 87shenderson, if i had the choice to keep only 1 between tav and morelos,
i'd rather keep tav and sell morelos. Just my opinion.

20 Jul 2019 09:37:14
I stated yesterday that Morelos would attract attention from clubs after his hattrick. Some doom and gloomers poo pooed his performance. When we have 'fans' who denigrate the performance who needs enemies - mibbees some need an enema!

I also stated that IMHO he is worth ÂŁ30 million in the crazy English market, especially if you get three clubs vying for his services. Remember scoring in Europe is SCORING IN EUROPE - it makes all the difference to clubs and their scouts. The fact that Morelos did this before our season has started is even more impressive.

When it comes to Rangers my glass is always half full not half empty!

20 Jul 2019 11:17:06
I seem to recall Morelos wasn’t interested in Germany. No?

20 Jul 2019 11:44:54
What about a deal that gets some millions in the bank - 7 or 8. and Fatman clears out for good.
King and co. Should be all over this one.

20 Jul 2019 12:24:20
SG Loyal I agree with you. We can afford to lose Morelos (as long as money is good and we get replacement) . We showed at the end of last season he is not crucial.
However I do believe we are much poorer when Tav is out. He isn't the best defensively but he works perfectly in our system.

20 Jul 2019 00:23:38
shame so many of you don't accept ANY criticism of Morelos, this site is about, banter and opinions, not all about yours being the ONLY opinion. He has NOT learned sufficient English to communicate properly without help, he IS worth 50 per cent less BECAUSE of his attitude, and yellow and red cards, this is putting clubs off paying the right price.

He was missing last season when it mattered, the only thing he does right is score goals, and many of them may have been scored by others in his absence, look at the stats on rangers matchday figures, he is good, but we have proved we don't need him, FACT. but you guys just carry on slinging mud at anyone who dares to criticise him. enjoy the rest of the season, if he stays there will be a red card before Sept is out.

20 Jul 2019 02:17:16
I’d say you’re a bit hypocritical Ritchie. Moaning about having an opinion then blasting other people’s opinions about a guy who banged in 30 for us last season. Put it simply if you don’t like him don’t comment on people’s posts about Morelos. Simple.

20 Jul 2019 04:19:08
Season before last how many red cards did Ryan Jack get? How reds did Morelos get that season? Am sure all will change this year. The wee man is undoubtably our best and most dangerous player.

20 Jul 2019 05:06:22
That's YOUR opinion ritchie1 and its no more valid than anyone elses FACT.

20 Jul 2019 07:09:40
Ritchie1 you sound like one of the referees from last season you have him sent off before the season has even started what did he get sent off for lol he is the best player in the league by far and we stick by our own (well some of us) if you know what I mean I for one hope he stays and bangs in another 30 + goals 4 already mate 🇬🇧.

20 Jul 2019 09:50:41
Ritchie, some folk do sling mud which isn't the right thing to do, but when people speak as much mince as you do I can understand why it happens.

20 Jul 2019 10:11:17
Morelos only scores goals says Richie1. Goals win games. That's all he actually needs to do. Yes of course he needs to button it and stay on the park. He's a licence to print money that lad as proven goalscorers are. Massive payday coming when it's right to sell. Another season with proper discipline and money in the bank.

20 Jul 2019 11:26:44
Ritchie, we all know how you feel about him, change the record and start slagging someone else off.

It really bewilders me why so many of us have a problem with his red cards. It’s part of the game, at least 2 of them were never reds. To say he cost us the league is absolute garbage! We have a big enough squad, his replacements failed to score in his absence. When our defence conceded goals to Hibs Aberdeen and Killie was that his fault too?

20 Jul 2019 12:47:35
Posting FACT at the end of your comment Ritchie doesn't make it factually true. I will offer however that if and when he does leave, we shouldn't be devaluing our best players and hold out for as much as we can get, FACT.

20 Jul 2019 12:51:22
@ritchie1 - that is the biggest load of tripe I have ever read on here! And that’s a FACT!
If you honestly believe clubs will be put off from buying him because of the occasional red card you are deluded. It’s all about his goal scoring record.

And you say others may have scored his chances . Who? Before Defoe came, nobody stepped up to the plate. Lafferty was and still is a waste of space. An imposter who has had 2 bites at the cherry and failed both times.

And yes we may not need him now because we have a 36 YEAR OLD who is doing the business, but will need replaced soon.
Who’s your preferred option?
Mine would be a 22 year old Colombian who can score 30 goals a season and only cost a ÂŁ1 million . I wonder where we could find one of them?

20 Jul 2019 23:02:20
Boom! Letsgo, 100% agree.
