McKay hyndman and holt had cracking games tonight. The defending letting us down as per usual but only difference this time was we were shooting on sight tonight. Something that we just weren't doing under warbs. 24 shots with 11 on target is far more like what we expect at ibrox. When you have a defence as bad as ours we need to out score teams because we pretty much start every game a goal down. Barrie McKay is frightening at times with that first touch and ability to drift into the spaces over the park. Refreshing to see.

02 Mar 2017 10:22:06
Mckay for me is frustrating he has so much potential, but disappears in games and doesn't track runners. Sits in soaces where nobody is. I might be being a bit critical but if he gavee 100% the full game then he would be a real talent.

02 Mar 2017 10:00:23
I love the fact we were getting crosses into the box much earlier as well

02 Mar 2017 14:06:33
got t say i disagree a lot of our games we had 20+ shots and not too many on target as was warbs words after most bad results we where nearly always the better side but couldn't defend and couldn't score so we got beat

01 Mar 2017 21:43:41
I didn't see the game tonight. a win at last!
Did Wright's tactics etc convince anyone that he's the man to take us forward?

01 Mar 2017 21:59:17
No, they had their chances but for 70 mins we managed to make them look mince.

Kiernan getting sent off and sloppy mistakes gave two goals away and got the heart in mouth!

To be fair to kiernan, I thought that was a good game for him.

I would rather say no thanks to Tommy Wright based on that though.

02 Mar 2017 19:01:59
I thought kiernan was good last nite as well as Friday nite but he let himself down with that moment of madness

02 Mar 2017 10:42:27
It was never a red card, a foul yes but straight red? No chance look at some of the fouls the past couple of weeks teams have got away with and compare to kiernans.

Tommy wrights team have no pace and still troubled us.

02 Mar 2017 15:25:11
waggy should have had a penalty as well it was a stone waller from the angle i saw it! sorry but the we need new cb's in ones with pace and brains.

01 Mar 2017 21:39:46
Anyone else think Toral was a standout in tonights game, played absolutely brilliant in the holding role.

01 Mar 2017 22:00:26
He made some important contributions but also gave the ball away a couple of times.

Definitely a better performance from him though.

02 Mar 2017 08:40:43
I said weeks ago to try the boy there and got shot in flames.

02 Mar 2017 10:03:08
Toral doesn't do it for me, i thot he was awful on Fri nite and marginally better last nite

01 Mar 2017 21:39:15
Don't let that boy Hyndman leave Ibrox!

Best player with a solid performance tonight, don't even care how sloppy we were to give away those goals because we WON and a win is definitely a win!

01 Mar 2017 22:54:04
Fully deserved win. Some really good stuff and dug in to get the 3 points

01 Mar 2017 21:14:27
Luis Enrique has just announced he won't be at Barcelona next season. Who's going to be first to link him?

01 Mar 2017 21:49:49
Red Bull starting to put our team together for next season then!

01 Mar 2017 21:59:34

Good afternoon Gents,

I would firstly like to voice my anger at Clint Hill.
"3rd would represent a successful season"?
That statement is unacceptable from anyone at Ibrox when we have held second whilst having a poor season.
They should be fighting tooth and nail to get back there and solidify 2nd and close the gap to first as best they can. Nothing less is acceptable.

Now most people here are crying out for 4-4-2 and I would like to see us give it a go but my concern is we do not have the midfield players for this. We need at least one dynamic, defensive mid to support our 2 CB's. There is NO-ONE in our squad who can do this to an acceptable level.
Looking at our squad and our frailties I think 3-5-2/ 3-4-1-2 is our best option.

3 CB's - One playing slightly in front of 2 (almost CDM) trying to break play up early if being attacked centrally and dropping back to cover spaces if we are attacked on wing and CB's drawn wide.

Our wing backs Could sit in more centrally with 2 CM's forming a barrier of 4 in front of CB's when not in possession but going wide when we get ball.

1 AM in free role behind strikers

2 strikers!

E. G

Fods

Hill Wilson
Kiernan

Tav Halliday Hyndman Wallace

McKay

Garner Miller.

01 Mar 2017 15:07:51
Like your optimism blue genius and your dynamic thoughts on how game should be played. GENIUS I'm contacting my mate who does the odds for William Hill to install you as favourite for managers post

01 Mar 2017 15:54:20
Hill meant in regards to finishing in a Europa spot that 3rd is no different than 2nd in terms of where we start the qualifyers.

01 Mar 2017 16:37:53
bluedrama, think your mate will have him at long odds, after all that dynamic thinking and then has Halliday in his line up.

01 Mar 2017 17:10:03
Definate rangeken. Football is matter of opinions and I would not have Kieran or Halliday near the team. It shows the options we have. Why Warburton never addressed defence is beyond me.

01 Mar 2017 17:36:37
Govanite I did get his point but you have to stand up and say 3rd is unacceptable no matter what. 2nd is bad enough for Rangers!
Rangeken I understand your doubt over my team selection but I was not meaning the particular players just giving an example of how they should set out. Having said that Kiernan I have named 3 out of our 4 centre backs we have and Kiernan is one of the better passers hence him being at front.
As for Halliday well I would also have dropped him but I do sympathise with him as he is never a CDM and has been made nervous by being pushed into that position. When he was further forward the other night he looked better (still not the best tho) .

01 Mar 2017 19:42:21
You destroy your argument by putting Halliday in your team! That is like playing with then men!

01 Mar 2017 19:28:36
When a player comes out and says 3rd place is successful, you now have the reason we are in 3rd. Not one player from the past would ever think 3rd is good enough never mind make a statement claiming this. Total lack of any kind of leadership why is the ream captain allowing player to think this no way would previous captains BF, RG, TB let this happen Shambles

01 Mar 2017 11:54:41
Barry fergasonseen boarding the megabus to London.

Bomber was driving.

01 Mar 2017 13:17:08
Barry fergasonseen. is that ronnys mate from norway?
lol. away back to your crayons and lego

01 Mar 2017 10:58:11
It may or may not be fair enough for the players telling newspapers criticism is unfair and Clint Hill saying there's plenty of fight in the team. I say prove it then and show us that you're right. Don't talk about fine margins at high level football, simply put the ball in the back of St Johnstone's net a few times and prevent it from going in the back of our own a few times tonight.

01 Mar 2017 19:35:28
at least 6 of the starting 11 should never have been able to say i played for rangers as they don't they turn up but they don't play with the intensity and hunger for the win that any rangers player of the past has

01 Mar 2017 09:00:07
Board need to ensure the next manager "sells season tickets" Alex Neil does not sell season tickets - Its well documented where his allegiances lie. If we are going down that route, may as well appoint Lemmon or Stubbs.
This is a dilema for the board, we need a quality manager, but don't have the funds to properly back him. Hopefully court case with Ashley goes in our favour - releases funds and we can move forward.

01 mar 2017 09:19:55
rangers managers job. great salary
fantastic facilities. chance to build something special.
must have expirence at top level
must have ambition to take club forward.

must not have supported celtic.

pathetic barcelona bear.

01 Mar 2017 09:12:36
"May as well appoint Lennon or Stubbs"? Please enlighten me.

01 Mar 2017 10:00:48
Ironically we could really do with a manager with Lennon's traits. Could you imagine he was appointed and the meltdown that would occur from the celtic lot? We've had players cross the divide before but never a manager.

01 Mar 2017 11:38:45
Why would you bother who they supported or played for? As soon as they put on a shirt or a blazer with the badge they are then a rangers employee

01 Mar 2017 12:55:20
Should Pedro Caixinha not be in the frame either. Turns out he used to be a talent spotter for Celtic.

01 Mar 2017 13:00:01
Barcabear your away with it. Neil would be a great appointment IMO, done brilliantly in scotland with hamilton and since then had a succesful first season at norwich to take them up.
Very much a 'players manager' which is what we need right now to get best out of what we have.

01 Mar 2017 15:06:25
@barcabear - its attitudes like yours that holds the club back. How can the club attract future investors when fans like yourself are stuck in the year 1690?
The next manager needs to be appointed on ABILITY!

01 Mar 2017 19:50:20
We need a quality manager, one that can seriously take on Rodgers. Unfortunately none of those that are allegedly on the short list inspire confidence. Macleish is yesterday's man, McInnes has failed at Aberdeen and appears happy to finish second, he has had every chance to overeatke Celtic when they had Delia and he failed consistently. We need a top quality manager that is a winner.

01 Mar 2017 17:42:48
i for one would like to say i agree that a celtic minded manager is not what i'd like either nor would i want alex neil even if he wasnt a hearts suporter and to say we are the only ones in the dark ages is just sill as Barcelona and madrid would never allow that to happen either and i can think of quite a fe more that wouldn't happen.

not when the hatred of the rival club is as strong as it is over here or spain or in turkey or a few eastern european clubs i would say tht hiring him would be a mistake

01 Mar 2017 19:36:08
We could worse than Martin O'Neil, although he appears to have turned down Leicester, and is unlikely to want anything to do with us, in our present state.
If the board have the cash, give the job to Big Eck and let him choose his staff, within reason and to an agreed budget. The important thing about the appointment is to get on with it.

02 Mar 2017 00:11:23
We don't want a Celtic minded person as it will dog there ability to get on and do the job. They would be hounded. Combined with the fact we would prefer one of our own who understand what Rangers are about MW was in coco land no affinity with the club or the fans.

A top drawer manager like FDB or RDB or Brian L as assistant
Think big and get the place bouncing again. If its a low key person next season will be no different to this one it will be low budget and freebies.

01 Mar 2017 08:50:25
Ave got a worrying feeling its the head players that are calling for the same formation. I believe murty told kenny miller to go 442 in last game and he told him no. Am sure in the commentary they said 'murty has told kenny to change the formation and he just shook his head at him'. Think murty is just there so they can say they have a manager in place and that's it.

01 Mar 2017 09:00:56
From what I heard, it was quite the opposite regarding Miller and Murty, Miller wanted to change the formation, Murty said it was staying the same. Murty then brought on a striker in the 90th minute and changed the bloody formation, Murty is unfortunately out of his depth.

01 Mar 2017 11:34:34
Fair enough onlyshow, I may be taking the idea of who is choosing the formation the wrong way round. I think am just sturggling to work out why we are still playing a formation that doesn't work.

01 Mar 2017 17:33:12
For goodness sake play Dodoo and let's see goals.

01 Mar 2017 06:49:38
I'm not believing the media yet as to new Rangers manager as they're is some new favourite every day. The challenge is set for players now anyway starting with a win tonight. I would love to catch sheep but we need to have desire. It's now or never Rangers Players hope you read this.

01 Mar 2017 17:45:28
anyone looking to keep their place in the rangers team must stand up now or forever be forgotten.
