hi ed i have been a long time reader of this site and have posted a few rummours b4 and was just wondering if it was ok to post what i think would be a good squad for next season and see what fellow gers think.

my squad would be

keepers McGregor Alexander and Randolph(m, well 500k)

defenders would be. whitty bougie weir papac broadfoot bartley(loan) cueller (2mill) wallace (hearts 1mill) foster (350k)

midfielders would be. davis ness hutton McCulloch wylde naismith edu. conway, gomis, buaben(free dundee utd) rino (if ac millan let him go) humphrey (750k m, well)

forwards would be. jelavic laff miller(750k) goodwillie (1.75mil) Mcdonald (boro 750k - 1mill)

thats the squad i would go for personaly but that's just my opinion hope i don't anoy anyone if i do tuff
full squad would cost about £7 million

and wages wouldn't realy be to much either

ttb

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Would be a good squad but personally i would not like to see miller back, i feel as though he made his decision by leaving for the money and he would come back to us the same player that left but on much higher wages considering he is currently earning 50k a week.
i don't know if anyone agrees or if anybody sees it differently.

Agree1 Disagree3

Miller will be taking a substantial pay cut if he comes back 15-20k a week, in the uncertainty with the takeover we had to let him go and get some cash in rather than lose him for nothing and lets face it would anybody turn down 50k a week tax free? I would welcome kenny back

A lot of people post on here that they would like Rangers to sell young John Fleck, which I believe would be a major mistake.

John has been talked about as the next big thing in
Scotland since he was 15 years old. That is a major pressure on a young mans shoulders. He then became the youngest player ever to appear in a British Cup Final at 16 in 2008. Then, Flecky boosted his profile even more with a run in the team between January and March 2009 and he really stood out, even in a midfield with Davis, Mendes and Ferguson his class showed. He also put in a man of the match performance against AC Milan at Ibrox in a mid season friendly.

Now, since then his form and development has stalled slightly, which may be down to a poor attitude, as has widely beeb reported. However I feel that his head has gone down, maybe due to a a conflict of opinion with Walter. Walter clearly felt the best approach was to ease Fleck in, whereas his performances and ability back then suggested he should have continued to play every week despite his age. Rooney done it, Milner done it, why couldn't we with Fleck?

My concern is that, after bringin through a lad who has so much ability (this is unquestionable), we cannot afford to let him go and fulfill his potential elsewhere, ie Charlie Adam.

Hope he gets a run next year to prove how good he really is.

Any thoughts on Fleck ed?

Steven {Ed001's Note - I would keep him, given a run in the side, and the right coaching, he will be a fantastic player for the future.}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I agree, I don't think we should sell Fleck but I would loan him out to Dundee Utd, Aberdeen or a team in the championship. He needs games and needs to find his best position. Rangers cannot afford to have passengers in the team; even with our minimal squad last season and with his supposed creative ability, he hardly featured.

BUT I WILL ONLY BELEIVE IT IS 100% TRUE IF I SEE IT ON BBC OR SSN

Ed ( Who possible to leave rangers in this summer transfer? )

{Ed010's Note -The simple answer is that anyone potentially could leave in the transfer window but in reality, I would be surprised if any more than two actually did leave. Our squad is so threadbare that Ally will try and dissuade any players that even suggests that he could leave. I do see some of our younger players going out on loan but that is about it.

Was interested to see Eidur Gudjohnsen has become a free agent. I think, although he may be a bit older and lost a yard of pace, that he could be a very decent signing for Rangers. Would add a bit of class and excellent experience in Europe. Any thoughts ed?

Steven

{Ed010's Note -Steven, experience is something you need in every team and he certainly has that in abundance. It really is a question of whether Ally sees him as being an advantage to our team.

Ibrahima soncko was released, would be a solid defender and available on a free transfer, what you think Ed?

{Ed010's Note -There is no doubt that Ibrahima Sonko is big solid defender but I would like to use him as an example of the problem that exists for all football managers. At the end of every season, managers will have collated a list of players that they know will be freed by their clubs. Based on these lists, the managers will identify players that they see as being an asset to their team and Ally will be no different in this regard. As the days pass by and as the transfer window approaches, this "list" will continue to grow, with the addition of new names being added like Sonko. The fear that every manager has is signing a player, only to find that a "better" player becomes available. That is why I would be surprised if Ally was to make a move for Sonko at this stage.

Rangers to sign Brazilian CB Rafael Toloi for £3,000,000 Euros, (his minimum fee release) Very quick, strong in the air and has an amzing long range shot! Ive heard this from a reporter friend in spain who told me that he was on the verge of siging for malaga, but they could'nt agree a set minimum fee release (which all spanish clubs need to offer in there contracts) Now everything is 90% done with rangers and he is currently meeting with 2 rangers representitivs in london, ( that's where his agent is based). Expect to hear something either this evening or the weekend.

- - - - - - - - - - -

who does he play for, and it's a lot to pay for a player i've never heard of (2.6 million roughly

Rafael toloi plays for brazillian team goias
He is a promising centre back and last year was on several serie a teams wish list with a price tag of 10 million on him but after a quite unsuccessful season his price tag must have dropped dramasticly
I've seen him in several games last season and he has the ability to change a game and like big boogie he likes to get forward too and he has a shot that has been compared to roberto carlos's
In my opinion he would be a bargai at 3 million

listen guys. Whyte and the consortium he is fronting will sell before they buy. .so don't believe what your reading on the rumors page. . any player they buy will have a sell on value. .these guys are not like SDM. they are NOT here fot the long haul or self publicity. sausage bear

Believable1 Unbelievable4

At last, a Rangers fan who can look out and see the bigger picture. Craig Whyte is only here for the short term (5/6 years max) to turn the club into a viable selling asset in his portfolio. That is what all his collapsed businesses have done over the years. As for self publicity I would disagree after his actions with the league trophy. Even Diouf wouldn't have had done that. Mr Whyte and Mr Ellis will court self publicity as they have shown throughout the take over and Mr Ellis' previous attempt to buy the club. I have read some silly post about John Greig on here but I tend to agree about why the greatest ever Ranger, who has a statue outside the stadium and should be shown the same respect as Billy McNeill is at Celtic, put his neck on the line to speak out about concerns over the take over? He has done a lot more than Mr. Whyte has, or probably will ever do for the club and yet his opinions are shunned to the side by so many. I think this is the beginning of a roller coaster ride for Rangers that will have highs and lows, success and failure but will it be the best for the long term at one of the worlds biggest clubs, time will only tell.

TheCatcherInTheRye

You might be right guys, but tell us all how you know "Whyte and the consortium he is fronting will sell before they buy". Have you been in the board room meetings? Let me guess, You have a friend who's uncle's cousin's granny works as Craig Whyte's secretory.
His business record does have a few failures on it but if any man was to use rangers to self publicize then run it into the ground, he would generate so much hate for himself that it wouldn't be worth it. He would be right up there with Neil Lennon.

I don't want to put a damper on everyones hopes of us signing Petric, I do belive he would be a great player for us. However, I don't think in this day and age Rangers cab afford to go and spend over £2 million on a player who is 30. It may be worth it if he had a fantastic first season and then we sold him on. I'll admit I have no idea how much he would cost so if my figure of over £2 million is incorrect please let me know. I just think that nowadays Rangers need to focus on signing players that we can sell on for a profit ie. Cuellar, Boumsong. I know that is not what most fans want but we are no longer financially capable of buying players in their 30s and not selling on, my concern here being Petric is only good for one or two seasons.

We are a big team but I think this guy is out of our reach financially. He is one of the best young dutch players at the moment.

DusanTadic is a more realistic signing and like Jelavic would likely come with a view to enhancing his name and moving to the EPL. I think we'll definitely pursue players we can sell on and double our money.

With regards to Wijnaldum signing for us, i think this is perfectly believeable. He is a young player with a lot of potential, and whilst at this stage he is very good, he is not the kind of 'finished' player that Top sides in the Prem. go for or for that matter Barca, Real Madrid, Inter etc as they have the money to pay for the finished article.

"Rangers have no chance of signing Georginio Wijnaldum. He is being scouted by some of the biggest teams in Europe."

- -

From Sky Sports:
Feyenoord attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum insists a move to arch rivals Ajax is out of the question.

The 20-year-old, who is contracted in Rotterdam until next summer, is yet to make a decision over his future, with several clubs thought to be interested in his services.

Fellow Eredivisie sides Twente and PSV are among those reportedly monitoring his situation.

- -

Twente and PSV are no bigger than Rangers. Feyenoord will sell Wijnaldum this summer (the player has said himself that he'll move). Wijnaldum is only 20 and can learn British football at Ranger, he can play in the Champions League and he can win silverware before making the jump to the EPL.

{Ed010's Note -I have read your response and will turn the tables on you, just for the sake of debate. Do you categorically know for a fact that Hitzlsperger is not on Ally's radar. The answer has got to be know and therefore, you are posting an opinion (about resale, wages etc) based on "non factual" information. A rumour is exactly the same, it is information that is posted by readers and can loosely be classified as an opinion, an opinion based on "non factual" information.

I do intercept and delete posts that are so outrageous and incredible (Messi, Ronaldo etc) but everything else is uploaded as long as it conforms to site rules. Cheers Ed10

I will intercept

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair do's ed there is a slight possibilty (despite walter ally and white all confirming that gers need to start making business on their purchases (this was quoted) he would not fall into this category. . primarily the reason that posted was cos every day were gettin the exact same rumours of people posting hitz. . all im saying is there only needs to be one post not 10 of them.

{Ed010's Note -thanks again for your post and I concur that the same names keep appearing, time after time. What I have to take into account, is that fans enjoy seeing their individual post being published on the website. I know that when I was posting a rumour, an opinion or just a piece of banter and it was published, I felt a sense of belonging to the site. I also felt that someone was "listening" to my views and that also gave me a little pleasure.

It is striking a happy balance, between the same names being posted repeatedly and disappointing readers, who might never visit or post again, simply because they think their views are not considered as being worthwhile.

There are times when I have to call a day on threads, especially when numerous posts are duplicated with the same question or information. Lat night, a rumour surfaced about the Hamburg striker Mladen Petric and the fact that he was at Murray Park having a medical. Within one hour, there were over 50 responses, all asking the same question or posting their views. I made a decision to use only one response, added the reason why and closed the thread. Under these circumstances, people will have been disappointed that their response was not published but I hoped that my reasons for doing so were understood.

The massive defensive central midfielder tienne Capoue have linked with a high profile move from Toulouse to Rangers. Rangers see him as the perfect player to partner Davis in midfield. Expect another Jelavic type bid of £4m/£5m.

Kyle Bartley to sign a 5 year contract with Rangers for a fee of around £1.5m.

Rangers are still trying to land Germinal Beerschot midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Rangers will scout Tomer Hemed again this week and if he impresses Ian Durrant expect the 24 year old to move to Ibrox soon after.

Ally does want Goodwillie but can't afford to throw money away so don't expect any movement on this from either half of the Old Firm until his court case clears.

Both Conway and Vaughan are still considering moves to Ibrox despite recent reports that Conway had rejected the Ibrox outfit.

Lastly, expect Bougherra, Edu and Beattie to leave Rangers this summer. If any one else leaves it'll be for silly money.

{Ed010's Note -Greetings from Scotland. I am glad to say that you are one, of only a handful of people, who have stated that they are somewhere else outwith the UK and actually is.

As you will no doubt be aware, there are no "real" rumours and equally there are no "unreal" rumours but the difficulty is trying to establish which rumours may have a little truth behind them. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula to work it out and as a consequence, it is just down to gut reaction. At the moment, none of the rumours are tying up with anything concrete but that could chance at any time. Keep visting and we may have something concrete in the not to distant future (hopefully)

Rangers have a strong squad I think the end of the season showed that if we attack we rip teams to peices. David Goodwillie massive Rangers supporter and only young, best young player in the SPL, linked heavily with him. Read again today that he should be coming to Rangers let's hope so!

Sell James Beattie
and bring in Tomer Hamed who has a great reputation and young Goodie!

for th people who keep linking the repubic of ireland players to us it just aint going to happen, after all of the stuff that happened with neil lennon why wold they want to join us and risk all that happenng to them. I also think it could hamper either side of the old firm signing players that have families for example i know that he would never come anyway but if beckham ever fancied playing for either side of the old firm I doubt he would come now and a yung talent might not come because of pressure from his parents

I think the Gers might get either Bebe or Obertan on loan from Man U. At the end of the season Sir Alex stated that he never realised just how poor we were financially untill he offered us a couple of players(in Jan) and we couldnt afford the wages. (Reading between the lines it wouldn't have been a youth player as His wages would have been affordable or even be allowed to go wage free to gain experience)
Now we can afford the wages, M Owen has signed a 1 year extension so the chances of us getting an attacking player off Utd have increased.
The article was in the News of the World on the Sunday we won league AGAIN re how well Smith had done with 1 hand tied behind his back.
I know Berbatov may be leaving but if he does Sir Alex will be buying a big name to play up top as promised to Shrek and not promotion within and Hernandez and Rooney will obviously still be there aswell as Owen

Tomer Hemed an Israeli striker 24 years old from Maccabi Haifa on a free transfer is likely to replace David Healy; Ian Durrant is going to watch him for Israel. He scored 17 goals in helping Maccabi win the league.

Dusan Tadic has been linked with us mostly on rumour sites so not the most concrete evidence we are looking at him but lots of people linking us with him. Tadic would be an excellent signing 22 year old Serbian goal scoring left winger currently playing for FC Groningen in the Dutch league. Joined them last summer for 1.2m so I think 2.5m would get him and he has stated he is very interested in playing Champions League football.

As for the guy who is saying Goodwillie 2.2m with Fleck and Little on loan with an option to buy Little. Why would they sign an out of contract player on loan with a view to buying him?

Goodwillie is just a waiting game. We will sign him just a matter of when and 2m max.

shaun wright philips anyone think he could do a job for us? just seen on another rumor page hat taarbat (spelling) from qpr wants european football, Hightly unlikley but would love to see him come to the real Rangers, could bebey use bougie as a makeweight

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Not really on the wright-phillips mate, im not sure he would be big enough for the spl, i know we have small players and weiss was tiny but i can't see it working.with regards to what u said about taraabt, i read that too and my initial thought was exactly as u said, why don't we try and tempt him.i did also hear that milan were watching him not too long ago, i doubt it would happen for us but good shout pal.robbie keanes right peg, if your reading, just admit your gers daft.

Actually, a few weeks ago I was saying to a mate that I'd love to see Wright-Philips at Ibrox as I think he has a lot more potential than people realize. I thought he was one of the only decent players during England's World Cup run in South Africa and couldn't comprehend how he was played so little.

As for Taarabt, I can't remember the title of the video or the source but I watched an interview recently and he made it abundantly clear that regardless of wanting to play European football he was set on staying in England and primarily with QPR. Sure, did he not just sign a new contract?

Rangers will this week intensify their interest in Israeli striker Tomer Hemed as Ally McCoist targets his first summer signing.
The Maccabi Haifa player is available on a free transfer and has caught the eye of the new Ibrox boss.

Was at the Quay last night watching the Hangover 2 and spotted James McCarthur of Wigan. I openly asked him if he was here to sign for the Rangers but he just laughed and said I wish. It would be a great signing for us IMO. Just thought I would pass on incase anyone else has any other thoughts.

He was probably just visiting his family though but reckon we could be doing with his battling in the midfield.

coisty has confirmed interest in tomer hemed from israel amd there has also been talk of conway signing also mcgregor is high on the list for rednapp but with a 5m price tag i think its a joke for me he is better than gordon and should stay with us i almost choked when i heard there could interest in mcmanus from middlesborough lol we don't want him norwich have confirmed they are releasing 3 players 2 of them i think would be good signing for the gers one specifically being matt gill who i think would play a great game for us i feel rangers would be good raiding the championship and also even league one for half decent players and stop trryin too approach silly attempts like berbatov even if he was interested there would be no way we could afford his wage we should start thinking realistic but would love too see hemed signed i also think we should look at brazil some of the young players playing there are unreal and would light up the spl what u think ed

{Ed010's Note -Brazil is a problem as young players from there could struggle to get a work permit but other than that, I agree that it would be a great idea to tap into their natural resources.

I am starting to believe that this Petric signing is true. The price and exactly when it will happen I don't pretend to know I would guestimate £3.5m but as Croatia play Georgia on Friday night I doubt he will be excused to attend signing talks - I think theres a 5 day rule for joining up with International squads
Anyway Hamburg S.V. Have signed CB Michael Mancienne from Chelski (SSNews) as a possible replacement?
I know the cynics will say It doesn't mean hes leaving or even signing for the Champs but I just thought I would post this as when I read some of the rumours of players I am happy to be associated with its always nice when somebody adds Other reasons why the player might sign

All the rumours about Jelavic going to Manchester United are nonsense. Three EPL clubs have made contact with Rangers and are being quoted a price of £5m. The player has expressed his desire to move south after his agent drummed up interest in him. Newcastle, Wigan and Bolton are the clubs showing interest so far with Blackburn also looking at the player (Kean keeps a close watch on the Scottish scene). With none of these teams involved in Europe, Jelavic would like to stay to help ensure CL qualification for Rangers to aid the club and appease the fans, who he has taken to his heart. Believe this or not but it has came from a VERY reliable source.

I find the figure of £5million belittling considering he enhanced his reputation greatly last season and considering we paid £4million for him, £5million is not enough! Reading are trying to demand £20 million for Shane Long for goodness sake!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Also, in regards to the initial post, Jelavic has been quoted elsewhere saying he is happy at Rangers but if Man UTD came calling he would have to say yes but if Newcastle UTD came calling he'd say no.

Agree1 Disagree0

Reading don't want £20 million for Long. The chairman said it tongue in cheek. If you read the full interview you would realise this, but it seems a common trait to just pounce on what you personally wants to hear. If Jelavic has came out and said this and you believe him, why don't people believe Izaguirre and Kayal who have both made similar statements? Why do Scottish fans seem to think that foreign players come here and don't have one eye on the EPL. Where did this figure of £20 million for Jelavic come from? Look around Europe and see players rated in that price range, there is no player in Scotland who could command a fee like that. Another point is, who signed Jelavic? Walter Smith, not McCoist so maybe McCoist would be open to a bid of £5-6 million to boost his transfer kitty on top of Mr Whytes cash injection. Any of the 3 teams mentioned above could easily double Jelavics wages, so if Rangers told Jelavic they had accepted offers for him he would refuse to meet them for dicussions? I highly doubt it. If and it's a big IF Jelavic and Rangers part company, it will be financially suitable to both the club and player.

Doubt Mancienne is a replacement, Mancienne is a CB/RB and Petric is a striker. . however your valuation is about bang on and capturing another Croat may be a ploy to get Jelavic to stay

Although Mr White has suggested we will have around 5-10million to spend in this transfer window, I would imagine we would have to spend a large portion of this in re-newing contracts for McGregor, Davis, Whittaker, Papac etc which will not leave Ally much to play with. Therefore can only see maybe paying transfer fees for two or three signings max with any further additions being loans or bosmans. Would like us to keep as many of the double winning squad as possible albeit can see us cashing in on Bougherra as he obviously wants to go south to the epl and with only a year left it would make sense to get some money in to re-invest in a replacement. Bartley would be a good addition but I would also like to see us target one more CD but please not Berra. (Not one for bringing back previous players but Cuellar would certainly be welcome). In my opinion we also need a wide midfielder/winger to fight for a place with young Wylde and also 2 fowards to boost numbers vying for a place up front. This is where we nearly came unstuck last year with Jelavic getting injured early on, Miller jumping ship and Lafferty being mainly inconsistant until later in the year. I'm sure Ally, Kenny and Durranty are working away in the background to bring in a few new faces. Good luck and heres to 55 !
