Congratulations to Mikel Arteta on winning the FA Cup with Arsenal today. What a job he's done since he took over. He's going to be a top manager after learning from Pep. Would love for him to have managed us but think he's destined for top champions league clubs now.

A lot of fellow rangers supporters think because you support rangers you should support chelsea in england? 🤔Never heard as much s***e in my life. Rangers main link with chelsea was in the 80's with a link through casuals of both clubs due to hooliganism! that's the link. Nothing to do with both clubs. Whereas up until the early 80's the rangers and the arsenal had strong links club wise. The 2 clubs were very friendly and that only changed slightly even supporters wise, when former celtic striker signed for the arsenal in the early 80's! My late dad's favourite english club was always the arsenal and they used to play each other every year. One year at ibrox and the next at highbury and so on. My dad used to go down to highbury when we played the arsenal in our friendlies!

KJA9, you're correct, we had shares in the arsenal which were given to us as a thank you for helping them out, when they had money difficulties. Both manager's of rangers and arsenal bill struth and herbert chapman were very friendly.
Arsenal gave us shares as a thank you and that piece of s**t craig whyte sold them for 250k, to a rich arsenal fan. It had our greatest ranger john greig in tears, as the arsenal shares were our prized possession!

Arsenal were brilliant yesterday and in the semi final however much as Arteta has done well I can’t see them getting anywhere near winning the league in the near future. My favourite team in England is Crewe and also have a soft spot for Hull City as I worked in Hull for nearly 3 years.

Bear in mind we don't see what goes at in the dressing room and during training. I think if Jacko wasnt such a grey man he would be wearing the armband. C'mon lads, he has changed our tactics. The way we played today and pre season is now our main tactic. Slow tempo, draw teams out and quick going forward. Our forward '3' change their shape defensively to going forward. Watch it, also AM comes deep. RK and IH run into the space he has create. This also draws in their FB allowing more space for our WB's. It's on the counter where we can still get caught out but out wide CM's should cover WB's.
So yes we still have no plan B when for instance a team gets an early goal and then have 10 behind the ball. Yes, we will need to revert to launching a high ball in which currently we do not have. It may be one or 4 games but we need it.

Spot on Herewego55, we were never really in trouble, but at 1-0 it is always that little bit nervy. We really need to get another striker in, Morelos led the line well enough, but, he should be in the box more finishing things off, he played well though, albeit definitely overweight. Gudogan was immense I felt, we do over emphasise playing it along the back a bit too much for my nerves at time. Good performance and 3 valuable points at a tough venue.

it wasnt the game to make drastic changes too. we strolled through it, won't get much an easier game against Aberdeen. i accept that at 1 -0 it gets nervy but i am not sure our possession ratio. must have been 70% so while we have the ball they can't score.

the people complaining about Morelos, he had little or no service and when he did he coped in his usual way. he was at half way helping the team then out wide. didn't do much wrong in my opinion and the pass through for Kent was top class.

Agreed geesado, Alfie's reading of the game helped make the goal. I had concerns he might not mentally cope with not being main goal scorer but today he showed he can adapt.

Also agree herewego - changes may have helped but in the end we got the 3 points, players involved will have learned from it.

Tav made 2 mistakes in the first 45 seconds. He's the weakest link. Aberdeen improved massively 2nd half, especially when they made 2 substitutions. Rangers and Gerrard didn't respond until he replaced Hagi. We thought Aberdeen could have easily equalised. New defender was great. Should of made earlier substitutions. However great to get 3 points. Loads of room for improvement.

They had a total of 4 shots, none on target.
Thought it was a comfortable win, away from home, against the 3rd team in Scotland.

The Stuck - I don't remember 2 mistakes in 45 secs, bit harsh but agree he is our weakest link, offers nothing as a captain, which was needed today in 2nd half or offers nothing defensively. Also today he offered nothing going forward but he may need a target man to aim at and SG doesn't play that way. The change in our tactics I think has nullified Tav, Morelos coming deep to draw in the defender with RK and IH breaking in to the space.
SG really slow again to make changes. That hopefully will change but historically he doesn't change it quick. Sat watching after 50mins saying we needed to change the midfield.
New CD coasted it and showed a bit of pace.
Overall I'm happy with our new style but really hope we get a plan in soon.

Think its a bit harsh on Edmundson not playing. He puts in solid performances all pre season and then Balogun walks straight into the team. If I was big George I'd be asking the gaffer why I'm not playing. Balogun could go on and have a cracking game but just think it shows that Edmundson will never be first choice.

I agree would have like the tenacity of airfield today but groovy enough with Kamara, think he has been superb in pre season.

Think Belogun starting is a strange one. I know he needs to start to build a partnership with Goodson at done point but think that shouldn’t be Aberdeen away. Think edmundson would have been the safer bet.

Kamara is a class act. Hate to say it but big George looks to me as if he has a mistake in him. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but needs a wee bit more fine tuning.

One strong performance against them doesn't justify the shirt. I like the boy but at the end of the day he hasn’t progressed as much as as any of us would have liked or wanted. Another loan this season will either make or break him. Can’t see him in the gaffers plans this season.

On the Football Show, they all stated that they think Gerrard will be away if we don't win the league?
I personally disagree, let's be honest, winning the league is a big ask and SG is certainly taking us in the right direction and I believe he will deliver us trophies and the league title in time.
Long story short, I would not want him gone if we don't win the title this season.

It depends on how we perform as a team, if he ever has a plan B when plan A doesn’t work, can he win a trophy at least.
If we lose the league it depends on how many points, if we run them closer and not blow up after Xmas again.
Many factors come into it for me.

I honestly don’t know if he keeps his job if we don’t win the league.

Unfortunately, the size and stature of the club demands almost instant success. Personally, I think Stevie will be a top manager. He has all the attributes and nobody can deny how much the squad has improved since the dark days of Pedro. And let's not forget, Pedro was given big money to spend.

Klopp at Liverpool took 5 years to land the title but Steven will not get that up here. I think he will be off unless we run them really close this season. Like you, I'd like to see him stay, even if we don't lift the title. I think his record in Europe and his draw in attracting better players is the key to future success. I hope and pray it is this season but it may not be.

I agree Tex, of course we’d all love the league, but say it doesn’t happen but that we won a cup, another good run in Europe and only just missed out on the league by a few points.

Would getting rid of Gerrard and basically starting again from scratch help? Of course not. I know some of our fans already wouldn’t mind him gone for some reason? But surely everyone can see the progress we have made not just as a team but as a club overall since he came here.

We are so much more professional now on and off the pitch. I truly believe a number of the players we’ve brought in wouldn’t of come if he hadn’t been our manager (a lot of almost said as much) Even a number of the sponsorship deals were probably influenced by him being here.

When gerrard took over we were a million miles away now we’re challenging we’re pulling away from rest which before he took over we were struggling to get second. he's getting there even Klopp took a few years before they started winning stuff at Liverpool.

If we were only 3 points off them without winning the league I’d say give him another season
Anything more than 6 points adrift he would have to seriously consider his future

The 7m on Kent last season
And if we bring in another hopefully top striker

Along with all other transfers he bought in since he’s been here

No one can say the board hasn’t backed him to win the league


Hopefully this is the season we do it though and shut that mob up once and for all.
