"Am I backtracking".

Sent a chill up my spine. Watched the Press Confrence for the first time. Warburton must put the fear into every journalist in this country not just because he is the best in the country at what he does but he is one hell of an intimidating figure.

Hopefully be at this great club for years to come.

19 Feb 2016 19:39:14
Aye, he frightens the life oot a me. I think its the baldy nut. He does a good speil for the cameras but I wouldn't say he was intimidating. Big Jock Wallace on the other hand.

19 Feb 2016 22:45:51
I thought in his press conference MW looked a bit rattled as deep down outwith the anger he is feeling I think he knows what a massive blow it is to his teams chances of winning the league without waghorn. Rangers have plenty of forward players ohalloran not a potent goal threat neither has miller been and he is rapidly losing his legs to last a game and Clarke just seems to shrink when the spotlight is put on him to be the main man. It will be interesting viewing how rangers deal with this and how MW deals with it? Just a thought mind.

20 Feb 2016 08:38:56
Total nonsense, Warbs is just being his usual honest self, Scottish football will make zero progress sticking to Astro football, it's time we and those like us got into a new league and leave the tartan Astros bumpkins to their own devices.

20 Feb 2016 12:45:09
So do you think we should mothball Auchenhowie then Stuzo?

And do you not remember the constant injury problems we had year after year in the 90s when we were playing nearly every game on grass.

20 Feb 2016 12:54:22
The only reason rangers have a half decent surface to play on every other week is because the fans first funds paid for it as it was struggling for quality and none of the club's leaders were prepared to stump upto sort it. some of the massively funded clubs in Russia play on artificial surfaces not resulting in poor football or massive amounts of injuries. And not nonsense I personally do think Warburton in rattled a bit by waghorns injury and does see it as a massive blow your his teams chances of success.

{Ed001's Note - Bayern have decided to rip up their artificial turf as they feel it contributes to long term injury problems due to it being much firmer.}

20 Feb 2016 13:24:57
Naz, there is a mega difference in training or playing non competitive games on Astro, it's banned in the big leagues so if we want to improve as a nation we need all the clubs to get on board or get out. I was at Dumbarton, Morton and raith recently and surface was good and these clubs are hardly awash with cash.

20 Feb 2016 15:31:50
How much money is in American football it even dwarfs the English premiership but many of their teams use astroturf pitches for years and they are so on top of fitness and deport science over there but deem it suitable for playing on?

{Ed001's Note - have you seen how far their players run? They cover nothing like the distance a footballer does, so it is hardly an issue. They have a completely different type of fitness, if they had to cover the same amount of mileage they would rip it up immediately. Oh and they are not interested in the health of the players, just on what is the best financially. Have you never heard of the film concussion or the long running saga regarding concussion issues? Not really a sport putting players' welfare first is it?}

20 Feb 2016 16:22:01
They play rugby matches on the artificial surface at Rugby Park do they not run as much as football players either?

{Ed001's Note - yep, they don't. Perhaps you should take some time to educate yourself. It is not difficult to find the studies online that show you that very few, if any, team sports involve covering the same amount of distance as association football.}

20 Feb 2016 17:56:46
Warburton was a breath of fresh air, peaking well, articulate and factual. Whether on this latest issue or on football in general he is miles ahead of his predecessor.

20 Feb 2016 17:59:42
long distance lorry driving?, if you don't have a lorry!

20 Feb 2016 07:42:23
I'd concentrate more on Ronnie Posin Pouch and his shortcomings pal. We've got more than enough in reserve.

20 Feb 2016 20:39:06
I am not declaring that the afore mentioned sports actually run as much as football players during the entirety of they're games but they are involved in physical action similar to running and physical contact in All the three mentioned sports so outwith the average length they run they still do similar movements in Rugby nfl and football.

Funny how the actual injury was pin pointed as happening during the penalty kick incident so after being injured waghorn was treated by the club physio took the kick then celebrated with his team mates. then went off was that the fault of the playing surface?

21 Feb 2016 10:25:07
Football is all about twisting and turning, flicks and tackling using the feet and legs rather than the upper body. Hips, knees and ankles are obvious stress points. US football and rugby are similar to each other but completely different to our football. I am with MW on this. And anyway, his argument is backed up by numerous scientific studies on the subject.

19 Feb 2016 17:39:20
Just watched the gaffers press conference there and i can take an educated guess the back pages will be about warburton and his comments about plastic pitches lol.

19 Feb 2016 17:12:50
ffs we're in the championship. how's about a 4-3-3 with O'Halloran, miller and Clarke upfront with miller dropping back when and if necessary. the goal that put us in the quarters should give the lad confidence and if he can't kickstart his career then seeya.

19 Feb 2016 17:45:54
Mckay doesn't deserve to be dropped and defo won't be he will be part of the front 3.

19 Feb 2016 20:55:08
McKay is a certain starter on the left
Miller through the middle and O Halloran on the right.
Clark will probably replace Miller in the later stages off games possibly.

19 Feb 2016 21:54:29
Mckay's a cert for a start. And we have been playing 4-3-3 the whole season.
I think Waggy getting injured could be a blessing in disguise. He was off the boil for a few weeks and needed rested anyway although I don't think MW would have dropped him because of how well he done. (would have prefered him getting rested than injured though) . Gives King, Clark and Forrester a chance between now and the end of the season to prove they are worthy of playing here next year. The way I see it is whoever out of those 3 contributes the most will be offered the chance to extend as I highly doubt all 3 will get offered to stay. And I know King is contracted but i'm sure if we really want him we'll get him.

20 Feb 2016 21:02:56
Op , i think mw should keep us playing the same way mate, that's the reason we are top of the league, maybe iif we go up, and get better players we wił revert to a diffrent formation, but we must play the way we are playing instead of trying to change things! no point in changing things at this moment in time, my opinion.

19 Feb 2016 10:09:48
Just looked at the daily record there and I'm quite annoyed by Barry Ferguson, his comments about the board not backing the manager are shocking, the board have backed the manager and upfront we have plenty of players that can play across the front 3,his comments just really bugged me but I suppose it's his job to fill his page to get people to buy the paper,

Anyway we will get by, it's not the end of the world, we've been lucky with injuries so far so we were bound to get them at some point.

19 Feb 2016 11:48:22
I wouldn't worry about it. Just a rubbish paper trying to stir up fans.

19 Feb 2016 12:04:23
Why get so angry? Baz the Ned can hardly string two sentences together and would be incapable of writing his column without help from a ghost writer. Chill.

19 Feb 2016 14:10:25
Here here luigi. The man's a fud. I personally have never had any time for him. Average at best.

19 Feb 2016 14:17:47
Naw don't agree with that pie and bovril. I think wee Barry was one of the best midfielders we have ever had at the club. Dick Advocaat obviously thought so too when he made him club captain.

19 Feb 2016 14:23:15
The reason it annoys me is he's a ex captain who should be praising the board for the work they have done, this board and a couple of other investors have put around 19 million into the club this season and with a ex captain saying things like that it just plays to the people that think this board haven't put money into the club.

19 Feb 2016 15:43:46
barry ferguson is only saying what some fans re thinking
that DK did not back MW enough
we have some players already talking about wing the Scottish cup surely it should be one game at a time
perhaps this is why are these dips in form as players
are already thinking about the next game.

19 Feb 2016 16:20:00
Delboy. I agree that he shouldn't be getting involved with manager v board matters and the like but as far as ability goes I would be delighted if somebody with the talent of a young Barry Ferguson was breaking into the first team right now.

19 Feb 2016 14:46:54
19 million Delboy? Never realised it was that much mate.

19 Feb 2016 17:21:20
You have to laugh at u lot. when baz played every1 thot the sun shined out his a@@. now he says possibly the truth just like u lot said we should have signed a striker a no 9 an u all hate him. did the board back mw. possibly possibly not. we got 2 boys in for free next year and ohalloran. mw said he'd like to get 2 or 3 in this window. i don't know ins or out but from outside looking in then maybe board never really backed mw this window so 1 of our gr8s says possibly the truth and u all hate him no wonder a section of our fans got bad name when u act like that people.

19 Feb 2016 17:36:29
Sounezz aye mate they've spent a fortune already, payed Ashley his 5 million, money fighting Ashley in bloody court, new players from summer, new staff for Murray park, new scout, new management, upgrades for ibrox and Murray park, it all adds up but for some reason certain fans think that because we never spent millions on new players the board never put money in,

Aye seeker a player as good as Barry Ferguson would be a gift, let's hope theirs someone at Murray park, u never no how many of them make the grade.

19 Feb 2016 17:52:47
yes delboy a lot of fans do not see or appreciate the money
spent behind scene so to speak
and I think we all agree if murray park produces a player
of b ferguson quality we would be quids in.

19 Feb 2016 19:24:30
peaanbovril an luigi get a room an ex captain a neddy fud between the two of you'se turn it up.

19 Feb 2016 19:32:17
Yup some people got short memories. kinda shocking.

19 Feb 2016 20:50:45
Rangers fans luigi and pieand bovril calling a rangers legendary captain what they called him absolutely shocking, short memories indeed, get a grip guys and have a word with yourselves!

19 Feb 2016 21:15:11
Aye ok lads point taken. He is after all an ex player and a Bear so I wholeheartedly take back what I said. My personal opinions shouldn't come into it. Sorry.

19 Feb 2016 21:20:49
You have obviously never met or known Barry Ferguson if you think he's a ned or a fud. Probably the best scottish player of his generation.

19 Feb 2016 21:59:00
Fergie was the best midfielder at Ibrox since Gazza. And in Scotland for that matter.
I Loved how much them over there hated him as well. That free kick in the Scottish Cup Final broke their hearts. I loved every millisecond of it.

19 Feb 2016 23:03:32
Barry ferguson is without doubt imo the best midfielder to come through our ranks in the past 20 years or so, he carried glasgow rangers on his shoulders many times, terrific captain and quality midfielder who absolutely dominated football games, the complete midfielder! He sacrificed his own health for the club he loves ie. remember the continual pelvic pain killing injections he took to make sure he never missed playing for us, a wish we could turn back the clock and have a young barry ferguson coming through our ranks just now! Really rated baz very highly!

20 Feb 2016 08:43:54
Top man Barry, remember his free kick in the 2003 final, when he said to amoruso, am taking it ya fud, booooom 2-2, then lovencrands in last min, best day ever. Barry was superb for us and never forgotten a true ger.

20 Feb 2016 15:29:26
My point was why get angry about a column that he probably didn't even write himself. Sadly that seems to have been lost on some people.

Never said he wasn't a good player (different class to anyone we currently have)

20 Feb 2016 00:00:56
Apology accepted pieandbovril good man.

20 Feb 2016 19:24:46
Have to say in general I really rate and enjoy reading pieandbovril's posts on here, takes a good person to post an apology like you done mate, good on you and keep posting, I'm sure you will, well done buddy!

20 Feb 2016 19:29:14
Unbelievable luigi, if you think barry ferguson doesn't sit down with a daily record sportswriter and decide what has to be written in his friday column then you really are deluded and have tunnel vision my friend, I honestly can't get your views most of the time, sorry but I can't.

19 Feb 2016 08:40:24
On waggy's unfortunate injury I now really do think that this is the time to give nicky clark an unbroken, extended run as the rangers striker through the middle, let's see if he's got it to be a rangers player in general because without doubt clarky is a good, natural finisher, up until now he's never had a sustained run in the rangers starting 11,there's every chance that this could be the making of clark at rangers through an unfortunate injury to waggy, sometimes our fans have been unfair regarding clark as he's not had a proper run at starting games and we all know that starting matches can breed confidence, we should all get right behind clark and see with an extended period in our first team if he can make it as a 'gers player, I for one will give him my backing to the hilt! As I said earlier he is a good finisher but do admit his first touch can let him down at times! He proved at queen of the south that he most certainly knows where the goals are and hopefully now he can start doing the same in a rangers shirt!

19 Feb 2016 10:15:05
Decent post but it's not defo that he will get a run of games from the start as we have plenty of cover upfront but there's a chance the gaffer will play Miller of o, halloran through the middle.

19 Feb 2016 11:13:46
Miller is too old to last 90 minutes so he should be a sub with Clark starting.

19 Feb 2016 13:17:12
Kenny has one foot only, the left one just keeps him upright, lost count of the times he tries to let the ball roll across his body to his right foot, then he looks ridiculous, his one major weakness, so many chances lost, if he had a left foot he would have been on treble every year, how's the romantic novel coming on warbs?

19 Feb 2016 13:22:35
Warbs15' do you not read other posts, we been debating this for days now, and what your saying has. Been said a thousand times before? Its almost boring, I said it myself long ago, and again 3 days ago, do you think we, re waiting for your thoughts mate? Our glorious manager will play the boy Clark up frontt, as he is a striker, at our wonderful club that is the famous Glasgow rangers.

19 Feb 2016 14:22:51
Sorry guys, hope he proves me wrong but wee Clark is nowhere near good enough imo. It has to be Kenny Miller with Clark as cover.

19 Feb 2016 15:20:00
Im sorry but i've watched Nicky Clark over the last seasons and he's decent with no time.

Every second touch he has goes to an opposition player, would love for him to get a run and prove me wrong but just can't see it.

19 Feb 2016 15:25:41
Very good post Warb15 though i'd like to see McKay O'Hal and King at least once.

19 Feb 2016 16:19:38
Bluepete- likewise but it will either be Clark or Miller through the middle.

19 Feb 2016 17:00:08
Clark is a ready made replacement for kenny imo. Both play the same way. The second touch is always pretty much a tackle haha. Given a few games with the chances we get i'm sure he could rack up a pretty good goal tally. He does well playing as a bit part player.

19 Feb 2016 20:57:50
Tomtom12,you should start reading my posts and you'll find out that it was me who said this yonks ago regarding the nicky clark situation along with another prominent poster so before you spout get your facts right matey!

20 Feb 2016 13:09:24
Yeah but you regurgitate the same simple minded nonsense over and over again.

20 Feb 2016 18:05:07
and you felt the need to post it again, ? And the Clark question has been asked for over a year now,

20 Feb 2016 19:31:32
I posted it again because the situation arose again because of waggy's injury, honest to god tomtom 12,I hope that clears that up for you!

21 Feb 2016 06:40:48
it, s been stated by some fans recently opinions about who should go and who should stay from playing staff.
Some say let go templeton, sheils, law, and clark, others want to keep them. As a gers fan for 60+ years I thought I new a player when I seen him. but disappointed inititally with ricksen, craig moore, hateley etc. but I was proved wrong as they all turned out to be great servants.
My point is give clark a run in the team as he might prove to be a gem, i, d also like to . see others mentioned played.

P, S. Still think wee temps is worth keeping when fit.

Cheers.

19 Feb 2016 08:15:53
It is a shame that Waghorn will be out for several weeks. It is also a shame that Rangers have decided to loan out Hardie to Raith Rovers! What timing! This leaves us with Clark, Miller or O'Halloran to play up front. I'd give young Clark a chance to start the next two or three games with Miller on the bench. Team to play QOS:
Foderingham; Tavernier, Kiernan, Wilson, Wallace; Holt, Halliday, Ball; O'Halloran, Clark, Mackay. Subs to include King and Forester.

19 Feb 2016 09:43:08
A man after my own heart, great shout DOIGER!

19 Feb 2016 10:16:03
This could be great for hardie if he gets a run in games.

19 Feb 2016 11:13:08
Trouble is Delboy9 Hardie is out on loan to Raith Rovers!

19 Feb 2016 15:22:24
Doiger- I can see Warbs playing Law and Miller instead of Ball and Clark.
Can't see Miller playing 90 minutes tho.

19 Feb 2016 18:59:15
Time for Clark to step up to the plate this is as good a chance as he's going to get game time, with Waghorn out as well and moh and king cup tied if MW doesn't start him at some stage in a few games at least, then he's already decided his fate for the future. Its a pity Clarks one of us I was hoping it worked out for him not sure he's good enough though.
