A lot of talk of Edmunnson and his potential when and what games do we give this guy a chance? I'm hopefully the guy has a bright future but are we waiting until next year to give him more mins?

If we were to sign a first starter in January which positions would strengthen us most and who would drop out?

In other words pick your best 10 plus a new starter player in which ever position you think would strengthen us most?

20 Dec 2019 00:37:41
McGregor, Tav, Goldson, Helander, Barasic, Jack, Kamara, Davis, Kent and Morelos. If we were to sign a first starter to improve us it should be a right winger. I have been quite critical of Aribo at times but I think he is getting better with each performance. I don't fancy him though when games are a fighting match and would prefer Kamara or Arfield in there.

20 Dec 2019 07:15:33
Good shout C of Ibrox. I think Aribo has been one of our best players in the last few matches but we ideally need a player a bit like Christie who will chip in with a lot of goals from a wide/ free role position. I think Kent will get more goals and assists in second half of season but I don’t see Arfield or Aribo getting the numbers of a Christie or a forest that I think we might need.

20 Dec 2019 08:28:54
If we can't improve on tav helander
Kent then we can settle for second.

20 Dec 2019 08:44:12
Macbow, just my opionion but you’re talking nonsense.

20 Dec 2019 08:47:34
I agree guys, we can't just rely heavily on alfredo morelos and jermain defoe to score practically all our goals! Its far too heavy/ reliant on both these terrific strikers. We do need others chipping in and hitting double figures. Kent and aribo step forward. Ryan jack has improved massively in this department and now chipping in with goals. I really do think jack will hit double figures for us in goals this season, but we do need more than him from midfield and the wing doing this!

20 Dec 2019 09:32:46
SGL we do not rely on the two players to score majority of our goals, they have scored 40 between them.
Rest of our team have 41.
Our two main strikers should always be top goal scorers,

Our defenders have 11 which is good so midfield and wingers have 30. I’m happy with that.

20 Dec 2019 11:38:56
John25, need far more goals from midfield and wingers. At last the central defenders look capable of getting goal at set pieces. Particularly Katic who could probably get 8-10 goals himself over a full season.

20 Dec 2019 12:49:41
Bankie go back and look at our record we have scored 81 goals this season to date. We r dong fine.

20 Dec 2019 13:26:23
John25, Arfield, Davies, Kamara, Kent and Aribo should all be converting chances on a regular basis. Of midfield only Jack has improved performance in this area. Too often the midfielders elect to pass when a rubbish is on. Thankfully Morelos has more than bailed us out, Hopefully tonight that will start to change and midfield will convert.

20 Dec 2019 13:35:23
“”Shot is On” Peril of predictive text.

20 Dec 2019 14:27:00
I must admit every time Alfie doesn’t start I hold my breath. Hopefully the team proves tonight that we don’t need to rely on him too much.

20 Dec 2019 15:18:54
Know what you r saying bankie but I’m happy re our goals, only 39 less than whole of last season.

20 Dec 2019 15:56:59
Nonesence! Check your stats Kent has 3 league goals and Arfield I think has 2.

Compare that to Christie and Forrest who are on 10 and 7 respectively and you can see why there is such a burden on our No 9s.

Even elyounousi has 4 in 6 games.

SG needs to work out how to get more goals from the rest of the forwards because eventually the No 9s will have an off day and we will drop points!

Disappointing news that Helander is out until after break for me he has shown a lot of quality of late. Katic is good and fans fav but I do sometimes fear in big games he can be too eager and can get caught out of position. Helander and Glodson are still my first picks, I'm sure many will disagree on here.

Let's all hope we win 55 as i'd love nothing more to stick it to those lot.

Picture it Sutton, Walker, Stewart after we have won 55 :-)

19 Dec 2019 18:57:02
Katic is definitely our best cb. Helander and Goldson to slow and both aren’t as good as Katic in the air, while Katic would tackle a lion.

19 Dec 2019 18:57:36
Don’t forget Edminson. a class act still to get a run.

19 Dec 2019 19:36:25
Katic definitely better in the air than goldson and more powerful but I wouldn’t say he’s any faster!

19 Dec 2019 20:04:08
The fastest centre half we have is undoubtedly george edmundson and going by michael beale's admission potentially the best centre half of the four. I like katic but he has to cut this habbit of coming full pelt for balls, he shouldn't be coming for and it leaves us exposed badly with the space in behind. The big guy did it again twice against motherwell there on sunday. It is a weakness of his that hopefully he'll conquer quickly.

19 Dec 2019 20:24:54
Helander does seem to hav a good footballing head on him. But runs like he's towing a caravan. Davie weir could probably out pace him which is worrying seeing speedy forwards run at him.

19 Dec 2019 20:35:29
I have my opinion on this last week Coop. Katic being over eager like Amoruso use to be. He is aggressive which I love but sometimes he has to hold position.

19 Dec 2019 22:34:04
Helander reads game very well, we're fortunate we have four very good cbs.

20 Dec 2019 00:40:41
Have any you lads noticed Helander plays better against the better teams and looks a bit iffy against the weaker ones. He was outstanding in some of the Euro games then struggled at Ross County etc lol.

20 Dec 2019 08:16:53
Stats show that Goldson wins more of his aerial duals than Katic.
Don’t be fooled by Katic’s passion and commitment.

20 Dec 2019 08:45:31
Careful MrP, don’t let facts get in the way of favourites.

19 Dec 2019 16:54:45
I just listened to SG press conference for tomorrow. Right at the end he is asked if he would like to bring back Glen Middleton from his in January. He states that he might not have that choice. The journalist then states that Middleton remains at Hibs for the rest of the season then and SG says that "someone else might have that decision". I would assume that means that Glen Middleton himself has said he would rather stay at Hibs. I like Middleton and think there is a real player there but if he can't force his way above Ojo, Jones and Barker in the pecking order then maybe it's time for him to move on.

Anyone got any other info on this?

19 Dec 2019 18:25:51
middleton doesn't have that choice.

19 Dec 2019 18:30:19
Mock my understanding is jack Ross wants him out.

19 Dec 2019 20:17:10
Cant get a game for hibs and when he did he was rotten.

19 Dec 2019 20:40:42
Surely can't have expected an young lad to do well in a Hibs side who were p*ss-poor under they're old manager?

20 Dec 2019 01:25:17
Asd12, the player can only be as good as the team around him and Hibs were rank rotten and when Ross came in he hasn’t played him.

22 Dec 2019 10:05:37
Hes still pish. So because hibs are playing poor that's an excuse for him. Seriously. Blue89 and mr grumpy please tell me how he is good enough. I honestly cannot believe your posts.

19 Dec 2019 14:51:46
Cheers to all for asking of the well being of my boy - he's ok 👍👍🇬🇧

Next three games are must wins for us. If we play the way we know we can then i don't see any reason we can't take maximum points from them all.

Celtic may well be top right now 5 points clear but as we all know that can change in a heartbeat. and i for one can't wait for it all to come crashing down around them.

People still going on about how Morelos hasn't changed because of red card. it was 1 red card for a full half of a season. grow up. The amount abuse this guy gets nearly every game from the oppositions fans is crazy. jealousy will do that to people though. the guys been amazing for rangers this season. No other striker in Scotland right now comes close to him. wasn't even a red card.

Was a yellow so let's just let him ride out his red and get back. certainly won't be blaming him if we don't take any points from Hibs tomorrow. If he leaves in January it doesn't mean leagues over. Just means we get another striker . can't see him going in January. he will want a trophy before he goes. if he leaves in January. heel be going to a team that at best will be trying to get as far as they can in in an fa cup etc. so just stay and win the league.

19 Dec 2019 22:15:28
He’s at the right team as you mentioned 💩.

19 Dec 2019 12:14:12
Hi

Although Hearts played quite well against Celtic, there defence was very poor and Celtic deserved to win.

As I said before on here Edouard looks like he doesn't want to be here and was very poor again last night, and no surprise he was taken off.

We can't allow Celtic to get any further ahead, we must win our game in hand and beat them on there on ground to get back in front.

19 Dec 2019 20:18:51
Your posts are always hilarious eggman. Genuinely don't know if your at the wind up anymore or if your posts are serious.

19 Dec 2019 09:15:57
We've got to go for 9 points out of 9 in the next 3 games. It will be tough but we can do it. Perform like we did in the League Cup Final and we'll be OK. Against Hibs, Defoe starting is a no-brainer. Should we rest Kent and perhaps play Stewart or Barker? If it, my team against Hibs:

McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Katic, Barasic; Davis, Jack, Kamara; Stewart, Defoe, Arfield.

19 Dec 2019 12:36:50
Might not be a bad idea to bench Kent for this one, and bring him on as a impact player if needed. He is also rumoured to be carrying a knock, in which case he shouldn't be risked at all with Celtic coming up. Guys yesterday, I made a comment about the fixtures pre X'mas favouring Celtic, now after last nights result it puts even more pressure on us, so we must get at least 7 points from these 3 games, no sweat then, we can do it though, in fact all 9 points is a possibility, they can't be that lucky twice if we play to our maximum.

19 Dec 2019 13:26:36
Davis is still injured mate and ryan kent plays for me.

19 Dec 2019 13:33:24
Barker shouldn't be near the match squad. IMO Middleton is a far better player than him.
Stewart, Defoe and Aribo at the front would be good but I can't see SG dropping Kent for this game though. Kent needs games and once he gets into his stride he'll light the league up.

19 Dec 2019 13:35:27
I agree, Middleton was really effective with his pace and power, If he didn't get a cross in, he would always win a corner. I'd take him over Barker and Ojo.

19 Dec 2019 19:00:28
Middleton a one trick pony I am afraid . Hoped for more . I think Jordan jones might be the answer
As an alternative to Ojo.

19 Dec 2019 19:41:52
Think JJ was starting to look good mols 👍🏻 We can’t all be jumping on Kent already? We done the same with ojo! Young players especially wingers are going to have ups and downs we need to support them through the highs and lows.

19 Dec 2019 20:43:18
When Middleton played for us last season he was thrown in as a raw 18 year old. There's a talented lad there, we'll surely not just give up on the lad?

19 Dec 2019 08:41:21
I don't know if it is just my opinion but when Barker comes on, or starts, all he has is pace, nothing else so my question is would you prefer Middleton coming off the bench to have an impact or Barker? Obviously Middleton is out on loan but he was great when he did play. He is one of the youngest scorers in the UEL ever and has a great left foot, definitely not the finished article but I feel he has a better end product than Barker.

19 Dec 2019 09:36:21
I really like Middleton, he's certainly not the finished article but a talented lad no doubt.

19 Dec 2019 12:11:23
Still to this day zero idea why we signed barker. Crazy signing.

19 Dec 2019 12:41:10
Totally agree mrgrumpy, I've always like Middleton, one disappointment for me is seeing in todays paper, that Docherty and Murphy amongst 5 to be punted in January, I will get shot down for this, but, Docherty's had a really raw deal from us.

19 Dec 2019 21:38:08
Think the boy Docherty has played around 10 games for us over 2 year period. He played 100 SPL games when we signed him and played c50 games and scored barrowload in English on loan. Anytime I’ve seen him for us he looks more than promising. We know Jack has an ongoing fitness issue and Davis cannot play every game. Docherty should be on the bench and given game time.

19 Dec 2019 06:53:44
If you gave me 2 wins and a draw from our next 3 games I'd take it as we would be 5pts behind at worst with game in hand.

4 of our first 5 league games after the break are home which could be key to our chances.

Last year I recall they had a number of home games after the break and we game back and lost to Kilmarnock away and never really looked in the race there after

I'm hearing about player exits but I think we maybe need to add another attacking player who will score goals, thoughts?

19 Dec 2019 10:20:03
I agree that we would be very lucky to take 9 points from 9 . I go back to not having proven winners in our team who find that extra to get the team over the line when it matters. we need to show hunger not fear.
