Congratulations to Andy Murray winning the Sports Personality 2016 Award. Great ambassador for Scotland. Can even forgive him for being a Hibs fan.

19 Dec 2016 20:30:41
He played for our youth team when he was young.

19 Dec 2016 20:36:32
Best British player in almost a century. However, he is miles behind the likes of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic. He needs another 9 majors to equal Djokovic's current tally. He may start to claw back as I am not aware of any major challengers coming through yet. SPOTY is a total joke nowadays anyway.

19 Dec 2016 20:51:50
A worthy winner of sports person of the year but not sure about him being the sports personality of the year.

19 Dec 2016 21:25:53
Nice to see your ok biffo! Never heard from you since we whipped the sheep, hearts and the accies! Like i and many on here told you and a few others! We judge our manager and the team at the end of the season, not a quarter into it! He's starting to sort it out and imo like i said from the start, we will finish 2nd! Try and enjoy our team playing well and our good performances of late! Young barrie mckay has it all!

19 Dec 2016 21:54:18
Supercoop, let's afford the opportunity to biffo to make a gentle entrance. Looks like you've been waiting ready to pounce. let's make it 4 in a row in Saturday.

19 Dec 2016 22:11:48
I've stood by mw and I'm glad the guy has started to get the results. Some posts on here that were crucifying the guy are not as quick with a bit of praise for the man. Its time to get behind the manager and the team.

19 Dec 2016 23:34:43
spot on Jaws.

19 Dec 2016 22:45:36
With you all the way jaws! Experienced, sensible rangers fans know where we are right now and where we need to be! A little patience is most definitely needed to where we've been! Imo we've got the correct manager in place to build our club back up, all the way through! There's no big pot of gold anymore and youth and scouting gems is for our club NOW, most definitely the way forward!

20 Dec 2016 08:51:21
Spot on SC11. Deep and strong foundations being built on and off the park. I think MW has the heart and inner strength to lead us back whee we belong or at least to play a significant part in that journey. Listening to him it is clear he respects the club and traditions of the club. I love the way he does not get carried away and remains measured when we win and perform well.

20 Dec 2016 08:54:03
He's better than djokovic.

20 Dec 2016 09:28:13
Cee

How is he better when Djokovic has won 12 grand slams to his 3 and the head to head is 24-11 in Djokovic's favour?

20 Dec 2016 11:04:01
Like you coops I kept faith in the players and the gaffer, as I always said give the guys time to do the job they were brought here to do, it takes time to build a squad.

19 Dec 2016 19:22:27
How many yellow cards does Garner have and is there risk of him missing the Celtic game?

19 Dec 2016 19:37:37
Im sure if he gets one more its a suspension mate.

19 Dec 2016 20:44:47
So do u rest him and avoid an inevitable suspension? let's face it he would do well not to pick up a card in next two games lol imo he's one of the most important players if we want a result against them on hogmany!

19 Dec 2016 21:30:58
Does the ban not take 2 weeks to kick in anyway?

20 Dec 2016 13:48:20
Who cares if you rest him or not 3 goals this year, am I missing something here.

20 Dec 2016 14:25:44
new bhoy your missing a lot pal like a bit of sense.

just because he doesn't score that many goals doesn't mean he doesn't influence the game.

imo the goals will come and they will start by scoring against your lot bhoy.

20 Dec 2016 16:26:16
Ok James so a strikers role is not to score goals.

21 Dec 2016 15:37:40
he hasn't hit the ground running and I can name a couple of players for you that didn't start well but managed to become club legends.

I can see something in him he will start to score goals.

what we need to do more as a team is cross the ball in to him more often.

19 Dec 2016 16:23:35
Im not in the slightest convinced of our transfer policy.

Forget budget and focus on the rag tag bunch of misfits that we seem to want.

McParland has a lot to answer for imo.

I wouldn't sign anyone tbh we can't afford to have someone on the books that's not first team quality, injury free and can adapt to the Scottish game without a settling in period.

I'd forget the foreign market entirely and bring in some English speaking Brits.

Sanderos, Barton, Niko, Rossiter, Crooks, Ohalloran have been disasters so far despite the small sums paid for a few.

I'm not convinced on Warbs or McParland. I like Warburton I really do but it's taking him until now to change his ways.

He wouldn't get a penny more to spend from me when we have more than enough to compete for 2nd place.

Not a single name in the tabloids has convinced me Rangers should invest.

19 Dec 2016 18:34:04
yeh some of the summer transfers have not been good eneogh well the majority of them this is sumthing the
The manager is going to have to look at the English market is so inflated that we will struggle to compete down there for players yet this seems to be Warburtons favoured market we are going to have to go further afield for players and start scouting in European countires and further
players coming from England should be able to slip into scotland without needing time to settle but remember these players where playing in front of 6 7 thousand fans they now playing in front in 50000 so that will take time to get used to we need quality over quantity and currently there is to many squad players who are average to compete with celtic we will require better players.

19 Dec 2016 18:55:59
At the moment we are. Nowhere near competing with Celtic and unless some major investment in the team is made and the manager changed then title 55 is a very long way off.

19 Dec 2016 20:01:20
Wait a minute. we're 2nd in the league having just been promoted which is just about as much that anyone with something worthwhile between their ears could have expected given where we have come from.

Until a few weeks ago the bumptious wanted MW and DK out, Garner was push, Clint was pish, Wilson was pish. now a few of them have had a few good games the numpties think they are great.

The reality is that every team makes a few mistakes in recruitment, most players take a bit of time to adjust to a new team, system and league.

Only thing that is consistent is the naysayers on here who pretend to be supporters of RFC.

19 Dec 2016 20:26:44
"Nowhere near competing".

Think a lot of fans including some of our own don't watch even a second of any Celtic game and just believe the hype that surrounds that lot.

Have heard some fans of that club admit Dembele is going through a bit of a dry spell and how the team is no where near as cohesive without Sinclair in their team.

We get a few players of decent quality in between January and the start of next season we could well give them a challenge next season.

I know, I know, it's shocking to even suggest we could challenge them next season because they are on another planet and so fourth, but we are Bears fans after all and we're allowed to believe in our team.

19 Dec 2016 20:54:57
Thorn76

They have beaten us comfortably twice this season and are currently 11 points ahead with 2 games in hand one of which is against one of the bottom teams. For me that's not us challenging them.

19 Dec 2016 20:23:54
BR65 agree mate, they call these people the instant
success brigade .

19 Dec 2016 22:49:32
ForzaRFC, every transfer is a gamble in football. You never really know how they'll work out! When we signed barton, kranjcar, rossiter no bear on here was complaining, were they?

20 Dec 2016 07:52:22
Dembele has scored what 7 goals? Gudietti had more than double by this time. He's a descent striker but Celtic fans claiming the will get 20 30 40 million for him is the funniest thigh I've heard since they claimed beram kayal was a good player.

20 Dec 2016 09:20:32
Dembele has scored 17 in all competitions Cee. He's not worth 20-30 million in my opinion either but look at the money some premiership teams pay for people these days!

20 Dec 2016 08:17:20
Cee

He has scored a hat trick in a league match against us. Larson, McCoist, Hateley, Griffiths never managed that. He was also voted the best young French player. I agree he isn't worth some of the figures quoted but he has twice done serious damage to us and has a lot of talent.

20 Dec 2016 14:33:33
I think sme of the media is in Celtics pocket the way the bum that boy up.
don't get me wrong he is a really good player with loads of potential and being named the france uder 21's player of the year will add a lot of value onto him I wouldn't be surprised if arsenal take a cheeky punt for him I the next transfer window as they are crying out for a striker.

but best buy of the season is sinclaire that boy changed celtic and if we can control him we may have a chance of stealing it.

20 Dec 2016 18:36:08
It will be the usual 10 to 12 million no more than that. Players aren't tested ough in Scotland which is why they don't command the proper big bucks.

21 Dec 2016 13:28:16
He scored 5 goals (2 against Man City) in Champions league so that is being tested outwith Scotland.

21 Dec 2016 15:41:23
big blue there wil be a bidding war for him as a lot of teams look at frances youth as they tend to become great players.

don't get me wrong celtic fans are getting carried away my mate said he will be the next Thierry henry.

19 Dec 2016 16:37:37
if we manage to finish second with quite a few points between us and the rest, how many of us think that's all we could have hoped for and how many still blame the manager for not winning the league?

for me the answer is simple the manager has done what he can with the budget given with a couple of mistakes along the way. t the best we can do is to finish second and for me that makes this a good season.

next year we will be close to the ~55.

19 Dec 2016 17:39:46
Can you elaborate on why you think we will suddenly be challenging next season? Do you not think they will strengthen and have more money to. Spend.

19 Dec 2016 19:49:41
If you look at the table we have 5 draws so with a bit more quality to turn these draws into wins we could be ten points better off by quality I do not mean 30 year old plus players no disrespect to them they do not add value to the club as very unlikely to get sell on value with them to do this king ect are going to have to release sum decent funds rather than freebies if we do this and we look further afield than England we will get stronger as a team plus with the youths there more than capable of taking the squad places of sum of the players that are sitting on the bench and try nail down a starting birth.

19 Dec 2016 20:04:26
Biffo316, the team will improve as they begin to gel, understand the system and the competition. it's not rocket science!

If you prefer to be negative that's fine but your team would do better with your support rather than constant wingin.

19 Dec 2016 20:40:20
Celtic will strengthen again, if they don't it will be because they don't believe there will be a serious challenge. As arrogant as they are, I doubt Liewell will adopt that approach.

19 Dec 2016 20:58:07
BR65

Nice that you bring in up the point about the system as it's clear Warburton has changed this in the last few weeks. You can have a cheap shot at me all you want but I am telling it how I see it nothing to do with being negative just realistic.

19 dec 2016 22:52:39
biffo, warburton hasn't changed the system, he's played the exact same 4-3-3 with a different style of play to mix it up. joe garner being the focal point to what i'm talking about!

20 Dec 2016 07:52:54
Celtic will get weaker, brown is the heartbeat of their team and he can't go on for ever.

20 Dec 2016 14:41:19
biffo u are negative please tell me when was the last time u actually said something good about your team on here I haven't seen it.

tell me this biffo do u think we will comfortably finish second this season?

next season if we do finish in second with a bit of a gap between us and third I think that will give us as a team the confidence to start better draw less and win more whether or not we beat celtic is another story but if we are better than the rest then we will be a lot closer next season.

its not hard to work it out.
and if we beat the rest and so do celtic then it will come down to old firm games where form and big signings mean next to nothing as anything can happen.

all we need to do is be better than the rest and have confidence and nothing says we can't win our #55 title.

19 Dec 2016 09:21:40
I noticed there is a rumour that Nathan Oduwa is being linked with a free transfer to Serie B team.

Would anyone like to see us make a move for him?

I was never entirely convinced but just wondering what others thought.

19 Dec 2016 13:09:25
No, all the best to the lad but I don't think he would get away with rainbow flicks in the SPFL.

19 Dec 2016 13:47:41
worth a punt i'd say at least we could turn him into a profit buy if we get him for free and sell in a half a year or year for 750,000 or something.

or he could turn out to be a great player for us.

19 Dec 2016 14:21:28
hmm tricky one really but yes i think we could make money on him. i agree with you james he could be good for us.

19 Dec 2016 12:13:52
In a word. no

He wasn't good enough to make an impact in the championship.

19 Dec 2016 14:53:34
I would take this lad back, loads of skill and a natural finisher.

19 Dec 2016 15:57:19
A natural finisher with his one career goal :)

19 Dec 2016 16:02:20
The question I would ask is would he help close the gap between ourselves and Celtic?

Answer: No.

19 Dec 2016 19:54:53
Same type as dodoo really and were struggling to use him properly in team so I'd pass as well.

19 Dec 2016 21:37:33
I don't doubt Oduwa's skill, but I do doubt if he has the mentality and strength of character to be a Rangers player.

20 Dec 2016 14:46:23
wee ecky that what would concern me but if he is a free agent then at worst he could make us a couple of hundred thousand.
and in the best case scenario he could develop into a great player because like you said u can't deny the boy has skill.

I would say no if he costs a transfer fee but he will be worth money and I think he is worth a shot.

19 Dec 2016 02:12:07
I have been away for a while due to over the top criticisms from crazy fans on here and wild talk about tactics from folk who obviously know nothing or are stuck in the stone age, when I heard we needed an "out and out defender" I was gobsmacked, doesn't everyone follow the game and the evolution of tactics and player roles?

Now I'm here reading that this manager's tactics, man management, recruitment and philosophy regarding the youth team is in question? WTF?

Lot's of the folk here are very smart, patient and understand the game and the business but there are a select few that know nothing so just repeat football cliches and stuff that every pundit says when a journo sticks a mic in there face. I let those people get to me.

I'd like to say to all the loyal real supporters that have not fallen to all this peer pressure. well done. True Fans. :)

19 Dec 2016 11:58:24
Shall we get the site name changed from Rangers Rumours to Pedroids Opinions? Seeing as it's apparently only yours and people who agree with you whose opinions matter.

19 Dec 2016 13:30:29
Pedroid,

Basically what you are saying is that you left the forum because certain users opinions bothered you.

You have now returned to use the forum with your own opinions about other people's and you hope that people will accept your view on others comments?

If somebody thinks the management are in need of education in football tactics, or the players aren't up to the task or even if they just don't like the way we play that is their opinion, wrong or right and they are entitled to share it on a public forum.

19 Dec 2016 13:34:24
Well to be fair if it wasn't for the pressure from fans we wouldn't have changed to what looks like a 4-4-2? so I see no issue with the fans moaning about that. Regarding the youth system and recruitment, well I don't understand why they are moaning. we have picked up a lot of good youth players and the ones who were already here are out on loan getting game time, but can also be used in development games.

19 Dec 2016 18:04:26
Bad times and good, its all about the banter Pedro. welcome back.

19 Dec 2016 20:50:16
Well said RAFbob đź‘Ź.

20 Dec 2016 16:39:43
Onlyshowaround, there's been NO change to any system mate! Its still the 4-3-3!The only change you're seeing is that the system is more fluid, and played in a different stype, with joe garner of late being the focal point! That's it mate, plain and simple as that!

21 Dec 2016 23:47:28
Had a few cans the other night. bit extreme. haha.

22 Dec 2016 01:15:58
LDawson:

It's not just my opinions and opinions I agree with that are allowed in Pedroids world, just ones that make sense and are not repeated from the morning paper.

19 Dec 2016 01:07:34
Charlie Adam watch it happen.
