Skrtel is an excellent defender and exactly what we need although I'm surprised we're paying so much for someone of his age since there will be no sell value.
Still, if he stabilizes our defence enough for the next couple of seasons to give us a chance to build and bring players through then it's money well paid as our defence has been absolutely hopeless.

Hope this is true colster but I must admit I want a younger calibre of player pursued as well, I certainly see that MS is an upgrade on bates/ Martin but we should be filling our side with young vibrant footballers who will be guided by a young vibrant manager. Hopefully a sprinkling of potential to come in the next few weeks! #lets go

Seen the same rumour on another one of the rangers sites that skrtel to sign on a 2 year deal for 2.5 million subject to a medical how true it is, is anyone's guess but if it is true its a big step up from what we have at the minute hopefully bring in at least one centre half in their early to mid 20's so they have a chance to develop and have a bit of sell on value as I think we need a good blend of experience and youth throughout the team

No major transfers will be made until we know if we make it into the Europa League group stages, then all future income from that tournament will be spent "net" on certain players. So everyone on here shouting for Lucas, Skrtel and Solanke are a long way off. We will be signing players right up until the end of August if we get into the group stages.

I'd expect there to be two budgets available, one if we make it to group stages and one if we don't otherwise there will just be one higher budget gambling on qualification and having to suck up the loss if we end up not qualifying.
It takes time to approach and bring in players, leaving it to the last minute drives up prices and makes it more difficult for us.

Anyway Morelos is not bad at all for a paltry £1M he will improve with the benefit of a rest this summer and I expect him to be back up next season however I would not write of El Buffelo yet!

Evening All,
On Cummings and perhaps some others, I like the lad and think he has a future. Our style of play, dictated by the player we have, does not suit him. So looking forward to next season I don't think we can expect our team to look and play the same as the last two seasons. We should have a solid defense and midfield. We will play higher up and not on the breakso much against all teams and not be bullied ever again. Our deliveries into the box will be better (couldnt get worse) . So perhaps next season is the ideal time for Cumdog to stand up and be counted. The guy would chip the goalie on a penalty in the champions league final . So bears, time to hit the reset button, our team/ style/ mindset will be different next year so some players might flourish or indeed fail in the our new era. I suppose we might get more form Jamie if he knows there is a wall of steel behind him. what's your thoughts. ATB.

Seems to me that too many Rangers fans aren't happy with any signing unless they cost millions, regardless of the quality of the player.
Murphy had no quality around him last season, and Morelos needs a confidence boost. SG can provide both the support required in management and in recruitment.

the team will wear the new strip for the Europa cup 1st qualifying round which starts on the 12th of July no less. Hopefully we’re drawn against Linfield if possible lol. Just seen big Clint Hill has officially retired. One of the few highlights in an otherwise poor season. What he lacked in pace and technique, he certainly made up for in passion and his desire to win. Always gave 100%. Just wish we had signed him 10-15 years younger and not in the twilight of his career. Very similar signing to Ugo Ehiogu. Although his goal against the Celtic wasn't quite as spectacular, it was equally as enjoyable.

Murphy is a decent enough edition, with better players around him, he will be good for us.
Even if we sign a higher calibre player for his position, at least we then have a strong bench too.
Some folk are never happy, who you sign. In his 4 months he’s shown well with assists and if Morelos could finish, he would’ve hit double figures.
Cummings the same, no doubt his desire and work rate, will hopefully prosper, with quality service and a decent run of game. If we sign him.

Murphy signed a 3yr deal glad he's signed if we cannot him and John playing the same way as Tav and candypants then both wings are going to provide a decent return on goals and assists play arfield in the hole and we're looking good time for decent defenders 3 cb and a proper decent striker and a few good loan deals and then wait to see what they mhanks do and react accordingly.

That's Murphy all signed and sealed on a 3yr deal. I really do think he's a cracking player, I know he wasn't great in the old firm games but I feel that was down to how little of the ball he was getting.
He's the sort of player that needs peppered with the ball and then he gets himself going. Goes past players like they're not there and wld def hope that his performances will just get better and better.

Jason has bags of talent a reckon with good coaching and a scousers arm around him he will shine he has only made a handfull of starts and some of his play has been excellent it takes players time to bed in and he has only been with us a short period of time and there has been so much turmoil at the club of late new players better pedigree a good pre season play to the boys strength and he will bang them in and coach his weakness no players start the finished article.

If we can't afford to offer Bates £7500 a week when there is a genuine possibility that he might become a decent defender with an actual sale value then what hope have we got of signing late career players on £50000 a week with no resale value. The lure of playing for Stevie g won't make up for a £30000 a week loss. There is no lure of champions league football or guaranteed silverware to cushion the blow either. What we should be hoping for is being linked with young players that you have never heard of who come in do a job and then we sell them on. Iam sure every fan is sick of hearing 'the wages are a stumbling block' get Your Andy Robertson's at a young age. We need to take a chance. Iam sure we would have been more attractive than hull. My source says we are fundamentally flawed with our recruitment strategy. Apart from cumdog and Morales not one signing this season has a resale value.

I read the same article and commments which were mostly directed at the standard of Scottish football. Bottom line he doesn’t get a game and gas only played 40+ games in 3 years. That is honestly our standard just now, him or people who used to be good. I think Skrtel would be great however being a friend of Stevie G isn’t worth dropping £30k a week.
