Joey Garner has scored 5 goals in 3 games for Ipswich, guess he does score when he gets the service. we have messeded up big time.

19 Jul 2017 07:12:14
Garner is an old fashioned type 4-4-2 striker he would have been ideal playing in a partnership like Hatley and mcoist but we played him too deep at times rendering him pretty much ineffective it's a shame really but that's just the luck we have

19 Jul 2017 09:16:42
Not bad luck mate, just down to poor management. Why spend £1.8 million on a player (most we'd spent in 5 years) if you weren't going to play to his strengths. He was never going to fit the breadmans system.

19 Jul 2017 13:41:39
JG was more intrested in acting the hardman than doing his job for us.

20 Jul 2017 14:16:06
I said all along he was a good player but everyone was slating him as a significant amount of 'fans' are doing to our manager and team now! Some people need to stop reading the Daily Record, believing all the drivel rumours they hear on Twitter and form their own opinions based on actual evidence

18 Jul 2017 21:42:17
got to admit last seasons results and preseason so far and talk of players not taking to pedro it doesn't seem promising for him and i think we will no by the first half dozen games if the players and manager are up for the fight this season hopefully everything sorts itself out as we can not afford to keep making mistakes

18 Jul 2017 23:34:34
If anyone thinks Pedro is going to sort this out then they are mad. He will leave a bigger shambles behind him than Warbs. Spent money on unknown players from Portugal ans Quatar. (Alves excluded) . Should have bought SPL core but that's done now. The Board brought in the wrong man who has spent £7mill on more dross.

19 Jul 2017 07:18:48
Alves included lol
R you on the Buckie again!
The team hasn't even kicked a ball in the league and your slating them already! Comments like that crack me up, so you would of been happier with our old squad for the start of this season?
The club is improving as a whole, every season they are trying to get better. This one included. I said weeks ago that if we finish second and within 10 points that's an improvement that I'll take.
It's never nice to finish second or be behind them but people need to put their serious hats on and judging them before the season starts is a joke as well. I'm not saying they are going to do great because like you I don't know but give them a chance at least!

19 Jul 2017 08:24:38
Jo Dodoo would have taken at least 2 of the chances we missed against st Johnstone. Too predictable, not enough flair in what appears to be Pedro's starting 11.

19 Jul 2017 10:18:06
Reading the reports from contributers, they do not seem happy that we lost to St Johnstone. Same old "can't keep the ball out of the net" No team will go through the season without letting in goals! Everybody seems to think that Alves is the answer to out defensive woes, well as far as I know, he did not play against St Johnstone. The strikers "can't take the chances that are created". I would be more worried if chances were not being created. Did Macoist take every chance that came his way, and he missed a few sitters. Stop the doom and gloom.

19 Jul 2017 10:48:19
Bluetoon

People are giving an honest assessment of the manager and the team. No Rangers fan wants the team not to do well however if they feel there is something wrong they are entitled to post that. I think it's fair to say that so far the manager has been at best average and a heavy home defeat to Celtic, practically lying down to them in the Scottish cup semi, losing our 26 year unbeaten record to Aberdeen and the Europa league shambles have put him under servere pressure. Added to that the very poor preseason plus the fact that he still hasn't addressed the issues in defense or attack are starting to worry some supporters.
I'm not really sure how long he will be given but we have a very tough opening to the league and if the team doesn't get the proper results then the calls will get louder and louder.

19 Jul 2017 12:31:53
Bluetoon we seem to have a problem scoring goals if we do not score we are not going to win games this is a big problem the only way pedro will address this is by changing formation
thits hope he ain't stuboring like warbs.
And the lb rb gk are postions we need to strenghten forget about anymore cm that we keep been linked with

19 jul 2017 17:26:39
jockhammer, you read johnnymac55's post wrong my friend! he stated alves excluded not alves included as you said mate!

18 Jul 2017 21:06:16
Just picked up on the score today and read a few comments on the performance and not surprised. Pre season continues much like the end of last season utterly useless. Pedro is an imposter get him on a flight to Faro asap.

18 Jul 2017 20:20:45
Obviously nowhere near that level but I've been a men's football manager for a number of years now. Things change pre season. players in, players out. Pre season is about fitness and finding your team and players finding themselves.

Also you match up against different teams for different reasons. Easier game, fitness, big squad numbers, harder games etc. Basically you should not be judged on pre season or the first couple of games. Let him / them get on with it then judge!

18 Jul 2017 20:06:19
get your bike out Pedro, pedal like hell, and don't come back till you have Walker under one arm and Moult or Naismith under the other, you are nearing last chance hotel old boy. Just remember the other mob put 9 past Shamrock Rovers just for fun, How many have we scored? and how much have we spent?
Time to get a grip mate.

18 Jul 2017 21:50:10
Get your bike out Pedro, pedal like hell, and don't come back.

Agree with that part.

18 Jul 2017 20:05:25
Okay i'm going to get some stick for this. Drop Kenny Miller. I agree he has got us some important goals in the past but that can't earn him a place in the team. When I watch him, now, I feel he is a second behind the play when having to make very quick decisions, he sort of marks (jogs on the spot) time when thinking then its to late, could be one of the reasons we can't break teams down or find the killer pass in time. Forget being clinical if we had a sharp quality link player the strikers would have easier chances therefore in theory more goals.

Look at all top teams they don't score wonder goals all the time just really good fast sharp intelligent 1 or 2 touch football to create a tap in. i'm hoping Dorrans or Pena can fill this Miller type role with more success feeding young Fredo or big Eduardo. I have no doubt we have 11 very good players in that squad let's hope the management can get them to click.

The French will give us a game for sure, although preseason, the support will expect a good performance and not a humping. I have a feeling Fredo will be a star. Get behind the club guys and gals the alternative is not the done thing. IMO.

18 Jul 2017 19:54:12
Can I interject with a different point of view than the naysayers.

Yes today is disappointing and the line up looks like it was almost full strength but we have to remember today would have been the first time these guys were on a pitch together and they will need to get use to each other.

Today's game is all about fitness and not how many we can score. Let's judge manager and players ten games or so into the real season and not pass comment on some poxy closed doors match.

All this naysaying makes us sound like Celtic fans.

18 Jul 2017 20:07:03
100% correct

18 Jul 2017 21:46:43
James, good comments, unfortunately by 10 games in the league could be over!

18 Jul 2017 23:40:01
Yes it takes lots of time together to compete with the mighty St. Johnston. Be positive it was only 1-0 and Rangers have only spent £7mill so far. can't see why fans are worried?

18 Jul 2017 18:09:36
Surely we don't have enough time to waste on this imposter Pedro much longer? Worst defeat at ibrox to Celtic, worst European result first defeat at ibrox to Aberdeen in 20 odd years. Pre season doesn't fill with much confidence either defeat to Johnstone today. Can't see things improving anytime soon he's not got a clue how to set us up. Tactics are non existent.

18 Jul 2017 19:44:21
Can't believe the so called fans on here wait till Pedro have had 10 games then judge get rid now then what someone else in give him one game then get him out 2 he will get us there have a bit a faith

18 Jul 2017 22:47:16
Stevie g

What do you base that on?

18 Jul 2017 18:06:18
My mate is one of the Paramedics used at today's game and also a ger. says team are like strangers and St Johnstone never under any pressure. I hope the gaffer can get this sorted before we play Motherwell. I think we should bring in Barry to build team morale.

18 Jul 2017 20:08:44
Yes thanks for stating the obvious, some of the team are strangers to each other.

18 Jul 2017 17:59:43
Another loss another goalless performance. This is a continuing trend that's very worrying. Pre season or not the other teams are in the same boat and scoring goals.

18 Jul 2017 21:53:02
Need Walter to spend some time with Pedro and halo put him at ease. Too much naivety, confusion and lack of awareness coming from Pedro. Arrogance and self awareness seldome sit well together. Pedro reach out to Walter before it's too late. We will think all the more of you for doing that.

18 Jul 2017 17:20:40
well we are certainly not setting the heather alight with those friendlies at Auchenhowie, not scoring, that's a big concern, and why Waghorn and Windass are still part of the squad baffles me.

18 Jul 2017 18:05:19
It would seem to be the same problems as last season, can't score and can't stop conceding. Either Pedro's tactics are way off, or his formations on the pitch are. Like most bears I want to give him time, but the season is almost upon us and we don't seem to be making progress!

18 Jul 2017 19:35:55
If the players ain't happy they won't perform, don't think Pedro's got a clue, big mistake getting him in and all those foreigners, should have gone for tommy Wright and we should make Ryan jack captain.

18 Jul 2017 19:52:02
When did rangers fans become such a negative bunch?

18 Jul 2017 19:53:05
we have wasted big money and a big chance at buying 4 quality players with the £10 million squandered. A proven goal scorer was a must but we aren't getting one unless naismith comes. I think hearts have got a bargain in big lafferty. Will come back to haunt us.

18 Jul 2017 19:54:06
Don't worry progress is being made, oops my mistake it was progres.

19 Jul 2017 14:17:48
@fodtheprod - proven goalscorer? 23 goals since 2012 for Naismith and 21 for Lafferty in the same period. You having a giraffe?

18 Jul 2017 17:00:30
Kinda worrying now and yes I know it's a closed door match but losing 1 nil to st Johnston isn't filling the squad with confidence or the fact we've failed to score again.

18 Jul 2017 17:32:39
Terrible performance, yet again. We just can't score at the moment- hope PC is having sleepless nights and comes up with a solution. the clock is ticking.

18 Jul 2017 17:57:51
Agree with you g4rry-I know it's the Rangers website and they probably present a skewed view of the game but from the report it sounds like last season ie-plenty of chances created with none taken. Every striker missed at least one good chance so doesn't sound like Herrera or Morelos are hitting the ground running. I know all the arguments are sound re not paying over the odds for Walker but he scored more than any of our players in the SPFL so I think we need to bite the bullet and pay what Hearts are prepared to accept. Otherwise we run the risk of another difficult year with a toothless strike force. I'll probably get loads of disagrees from the financially prudent amongst us but we need a guaranteed goalscorer-not someone who might/ maybe/ could possibly get us 20 goals a season but somebody who can and will and I say Jamie Walker is someone who can and will.

18 Jul 2017 18:06:44
Apparently we were hopeless again and senior players beginning to question Pedro's ability as a manager/ coach. I predicted after European debacle he would be away before end of summer transfer window at end of August.

he may be lucky to still be there at start of August. We have signed a better standard of player than in previous seasons but it appears as though they haven't got a clue what Pedro's tactics are.

18 Jul 2017 16:49:41
well it was a friendly but niko ask to leave the pitch lost 1-0 jeeze its hard being a bear it really is never in my 50 years have i felt so down about the club i love . the way things are going pedro may not see the start of the season?

18 Jul 2017 17:16:32
This is not good. I do not trust this man to put things right

18 Jul 2017 17:21:45
apart from alves this was our first picks. again no goals which is slightly worrying! and what was the formation if we had jack, pena, dorrans and krankjar in the middle?

18 Jul 2017 17:48:07
I honestly think we have got to get rid of him now before the season starts and before the budget runs out completely. I would ask, has any bear seen ANYTHING that makes you think that pedro has what it takes to take us forward? I don't think we will even stand still under him let alone go forwards.

18 Jul 2017 19:41:03
Get a grip it's a closed doors friendly it's all about fitness results don't matter u can't expect to win every single game we play in pre season if it's affecting your life that much try getting out more and get a life a as long as the league is put top priority who really cares about friendly results? ? It was closed doors so how do you know how the team played ect

18 jul 2017 19:53:59
it's only a run out

18 Jul 2017 20:44:59
The gaffer needs time it's only pre season the now, after the first 6 games in the league then we can all have a go and say he must go but he needs time I didn't count any of his games in charge last season as they weren't his players hopefully we have a good start to the season

18 Jul 2017 12:18:50
it may be frustrating to watch developments about Walker, but its down to a gamble really. Do we want him now for £1m or do we take that gamble and play wait and see? if we wait, he may be talked into signing a new deal with Hearts, and in that outcome we would miss out altogether?
I think we need to get him now before its too late, but we have spent quite a bit so far and maybe its time to take stock of our squad? difficult choice really.

18 Jul 2017 12:27:19
He won't sign a new deal with Hearts, however, even though he's desp to sign for team he supports, clubs down south could pay him considerably more than ourselves esp if he's a free! I think paying the cash now is best move

18 Jul 2017 12:54:01
i would love us to sign the lad walker his addition would give us a more balanced look to the team in terms of the type of player required i. e direct with a goal threat and homegrown guys in the team, but personally i don't think we will pump out another fee. Papers making more of it than it actually is in my opinion, maybe 1 loan deal still to come in! screaming for a right full back and winger but think it'll be one or the other. looking forward to the league this year i think there will be a fair bit of competition

18 Jul 2017 13:20:06
We should stop messing about and get him signed. We'd be signing a quality player and a player who genuinely dislikes Celtic and has already shown he knows how to get under their skin. What more can we ask for?!

18 Jul 2017 15:11:23
Walker won't be a free next year. Hearts are entitled to a development fee which will be around £400,000. I'd love to see him at Ibrox but we either need to pay the money Hearts are asking for, or move on. Pretty sure he's not a rangers fan as the papers are reporting either as his dad is and always has been a season ticket holder at Tynecastle so doubt very much he'd try to force through a move to us.

18 Jul 2017 15:29:54
pretty sure there won't be a development fee as he's over 24

18 Jul 2017 15:42:03
Magoo. As far as i'm aware he has just turned 24 on 25th June. Development fee's are paid for players 24 years old and under. When his contract expires next year he will still be 24 so Hearts due a fee? Could be wrong though.

18 Jul 2017 16:20:02
i thought after a player turns 24 there is no development fee again i may be wrong but its been reported hearts are willing to let him go for nothing next year rather than let him leave this year, at the end of the day if there is a development fee next year then it makes our attempts of signing him look a bit ridiculous

18 Jul 2017 19:31:34
1 million is a good price for a guy who scores and creates chance after chance and i would take moult aswell just incase marelos doesn't turn out to be the answer but from what I've seen of him on clips he looks good enough i'd just like to see more anger from the manager if the side isn't doing well or not following his tactics

18 Jul 2017 12:10:10
Slapped with a £6000 for throwing paper onto the pitch. Talk about over the top.

18 Jul 2017 12:15:06
£6000 fine**

18 Jul 2017 12:33:45
obviously who ever made this decision is short of a few quid for his summer hols! unbelievable . just as a matter of interest have there been any other cases like this?

18 Jul 2017 13:11:09
rsngers should send the fine to the morons that threw the paper. whither its paper or not. everyone was warned before the game started. there is no need for it.

18 Jul 2017 15:38:54
Don't understand how people can Diagree with this.
£6,000 for throwing some paper ball's on the pitch?!
UEFA are a farce, next we will get fined for leaving your seat during the game.

18 Jul 2017 17:06:38
Leaving your seat doesn't mean the game has to be stopped. The fine is for the fact the crowd caused the ref to stop the game not because Uefa believe paper balls are dangerous.

18 Jul 2017 17:54:25
The point is simple - it is not acceptable or permissible to throw anything onto the pitch. A potentially more dangerous object, a dart for example could be hurled under the camouflage of harmless paper. Presumably the irresponsible culprits will have a whip round to reimburse the club. Or do they think we have money to piss up the wall. 1 weeks wages for a good squad player.
