Anybody think young Hardie should get game time tomorrow?

Would love to see him get runs in these 3 matches even if then out on loan. Would send the boy a great signal.

18 Jul 2016 22:15:30
Would love to see what the boy could do in this Rangers team. It's weird how the manager doesn't look as though he thinks he's ready yet, most fans I know really think he should be given a chance at least.

18 Jul 2016 21:26:45
Wot bout yakubu lads?

18 Jul 2016 23:19:01
Your having a laugh. A lazy player that plays for Yakubu and no one else!

18 Jul 2016 20:03:31
What about Harris vukic we could get him in on a free boy done a job for us the last time he was here.

18 Jul 2016 20:46:35
Gonna please give it up with this guy a complete average player who would probably struggle to make the bench!

18 Jul 2016 21:17:45
I lked Vukic but with the management team we have now I would suggest that we can set our sights a lot higher!

18 Jul 2016 19:24:32
Right guys a couple of half decent bets for tomorrow obviously a win or even +5 is crap odds but i stuck a few quid on barton at 5 to 1 and hodgson 12 to 1 maybe worth a look at also took the imps to score at there place not win just score.

18 Jul 2016 21:23:25
Here's a bet for you stmonkeyRFC, a 20quid treble on rangers to win the scottish premiership (7/ 2) , manchester city to win the english premiership (5/ 2) , newcastle utd to win the english championship (7/ 4) , these prices are with betfred, what do we think?

18 Jul 2016 21:46:45
I agree with Rangers and City but 7/ 4 is far too short for a Newcastle team whos best players are all about to leave.
I got Rangers at 8/ 1 after we beat the tramps in the Scottish.

19 Jul 2016 10:23:42
Barton will only play the last 30 mins max so I might have a nibble after the teams are announced and the odds drift.

19 Jul 2016 10:42:15
I've already backed Rangers to win the premier last season at 12s.

18 Jul 2016 19:06:21
What do folk think of this revamped bet Fred league cup format?

I think its a heap of pish.

18 Jul 2016 21:19:58
The League Cup is a pointless competition and has been since the automatic qualification for Europe was removed.

It should have been restructured as an under 21's competition!

18 Jul 2016 21:26:38
Not sure about the 1 point penalty rule but like the idea of competitive games to get match fit.

18 Jul 2016 22:21:48
I agree its lost its appeal since the European place was removed.
Its new format with the final before Christmas is good and is still important as 1st leg of the Treble.
As for the group games I think they should have the 2 highest ranked teams playing each other in final group game so it gives those sides better preperation as part of their preseason and could add a bit of spice if both sides need the points going into final group game.

18 Jul 2016 23:58:49
Think it will work out well
We just got caught this year it good for the wee teams to get up to speed and get a bit of money.

19 Jul 2016 03:22:24
I like it although Warbs is right about increasing the number of subs during group phase as its still usually pre-season, I also thinly UEFA need to bring back the Cup Winners Cup and this could be used for clubs to enter via Lge cup AND Lge position!

18 Jul 2016 16:17:43
All the transfers seem to be taking some time to finalise, not worrying yet so far this season but in future might lead to missing out on players, think this has been the only fault with the signing policy so far.

18 Jul 2016 17:19:11
I think we will be fine as long as we get a striker and C. B.

The team looks really good as it is and you can see that Warburton has stuck to the "only if they add quality" idea.

18 Jul 2016 17:42:49
How long does it take to sign a player? Players get signed in minutes on transfer deadline day. Warburton saying he leaves it to the clever people I'm sure is getting said through gritted teeth. The player is training, he wants to be here, the paperwork was surely ready, Warburton wanted to show him to the fans tomorrow, cone on clever people, stop messing about!

18 Jul 2016 18:16:13
Dodoo is taking a bit longer than I thought but he wants to come and was training with us again today so he'll be ours shortly no problem. Mariappa deal has went extremely quite but I think we're still in negotiations as he's not signed for anyone else yet.

18 Jul 2016 18:22:05
All true, but let's remember that a £250k or less deal is hardly going to get a huge priority on the Leicester side, so I don't see them moving particularly fast as they're only getting a minimum fee. So whilst they won't be unhelpful, I'm sure there's no great incentive for them in getting this deal done.

18 Jul 2016 18:23:21
None of us have ever done a single transfer I don't think we should judge since none of us understand the complexity of the job.

18 Jul 2016 18:13:06
do you know what happens during transfer, contract negotiations? Insurance, clauses etc? Players with 20 offers on the table? And your on about them taking too long, we have signed 8players already you know, and why on earth would you get worried. ? More important things to worry about mate.

18 Jul 2016 18:24:32
and its not a normal signing, we have to agree to a cross boarder training compensation fee which must be negotiated and finalised with paperwork which I assume is what is slowing it down but it looks like he's basically a Rangers player.

18 Jul 2016 18:46:52
Suddenly we are all in a rush to sign players and have told the clever men to hurry up. It could be that Leicester City are holding it up. Maybe Leicester City are in no rush to let him go. Maybe just maybe sometimes things don't go to plan and get held up. However, I like to think that the 'clever men' are doing hardball with the various clubs and agents, and maybe that is why the Mariappa deal is not being done . yet.

18 Jul 2016 18:49:31
Deals involving compensation can take an age, months in some cases. You have to make sure everything is done and dusted or the club can withhold the registration, ala the Accrington situation. Have patience and it will bore fruit.

18 Jul 2016 21:32:08
Think Management team doing a great job, researched targets, very professional and focused. Really like how we consider personal character and fit of the targets. No risky panic buys for us with his Management Team.
.

18 Jul 2016 21:37:02
The lads training today with us so calm down guys!

18 Jul 2016 22:57:43
Agree we need to be patient but is the lad not a free agent so Leicester cannot withhold registration. I think we are merely showing respect to Leicester and rightly so, and waiting until compensation fee is agreed before we play him. I think if push came to shove we could actually play him as I think terms have been agreed with the lad and we could let a tribunal decide if we couldn't agree.

18 Jul 2016 23:29:16
Imo transfers on deadline day are done quicker because the player and clubs could both loose out, but when they have time on their hands they can play hardball.

18 Jul 2016 18:57:12
Saying players get signed in mins is rubbish. On deadline day, many fail at midnight because the paperwork wasn't done quick enough, many have been negotiations going on for weeks, you can't possibly sign players in minutes, do you not understand any of that. ? Insurance for starters, these are often multi million pound contracts, you don't do them in minutes mate, or you could find your club paying a crippled player for the next 5 yrs, , lots of agents, clubs, fees, lawyers etc involved,
Tommy.

18 Jul 2016 23:30:09
And don't know bout you, but I'm delighted with the fact we actually have people negotiating monetary affairs, not just signing cheques in Rangers name. Aren't you?

19 Jul 2016 03:29:06
I think when we are in a better position financially transfers will be a lot smoother, even as early as nxt season with money in bank Warbs will be able to bring even stronger talent and more players will want to come to Ibrox.

18 Jul 2016 15:47:33
I would hope we are trying to get Dom Ball.

18 Jul 2016 18:18:09
If dom ball happens again it'll be later in the window as spurs would have a more settled squad so could loan his out safely as they'll have cover. Maybe even a permanent deal as he's only 1 year left on his deal.

18 Jul 2016 18:17:20
Strangely, Some Rangers players became"legends" about 20 mins after they leave, and yet weren't exactly top class when they were here! Misty memories? Some think Weiss was wonderful? Not so, we need better quality, although Ball may improve.

18 Jul 2016 19:03:02
Agree tom weiss is so overrated by people it's no real forrester for example offers far more. Only loved because he loathes the manky mob.

18 Jul 2016 19:24:33
He may or may not do JD, but I know his dad is a regular guest in my pals sky box at the glitterdome, and as a big, big sellik fan, so I have never for a second thought that Weiss was a Rangers fan, nor became one, he played to the crowd, like a thousand other players.

18 Jul 2016 23:50:13
I think its the younger ones who think the likes of weiss, novo and can't believe i'm actually saying his name sebo are legends cause they have not been spoiled by the likes of davie cooper or mccoist real rangers legends.

19 Jul 2016 10:47:49
Paul, David weir days in his book that sebo didn't care a lot about Rangers, nor did he try a leg in training, he made it clear he was here for the cash only and this upset the real Gers men in the dressing room.

18 Jul 2016 15:11:42
Slow news day. Seems like Ronaldo nearly signed for us back in 19-canteen. What again? It seems he's nearly signed for us as many times as we've won the league. 54 and counting.

18 Jul 2016 15:50:33
I remember reading the same kind of scenario with Jean Luca Vialli (? )

18 Jul 2016 15:56:16
Aye I think I remember that one too. The Ronaldo story gets regurgitated every transfer window. They need to put that story to bed.

18 Jul 2016 17:20:10
Vialli was close, he was a close friend of Souness, Graeme said he was the best players he'd ever played with.

18 Jul 2016 14:15:44
Anyone know if dodoo will be signed up for Tuesday, taking my young brother to his first game and he has been watching loads of videos of windass and dodoo.

18 Jul 2016 14:41:52
Probably just trying to get the paperwork sorted for the development fee will be announced today if not I'd imagine tomorrow in anticipation of the game.

18 Jul 2016 14:49:25
The club website feature him heavily in the Annan training photos. So hopefully it'll be pushed through soon! Don't know if he'll be involved though unfortunately.

18 Jul 2016 14:55:33
Thanks bud, will be a cracking signing if it goes through.

18 Jul 2016 15:51:07
MW said today it will be probably be finalised too late for him to feature against Annan.

18 Jul 2016 18:23:18
MW been on sky all day, says hopes paperwork is done today, but probably won't appear tomorrow.

18 Jul 2016 14:12:26
Aaron Hughes?

Thoughts? be worth for atleast a season or two!

18 Jul 2016 16:03:35
He would do a great job. Super pro.

18 Jul 2016 14:29:29
Photo for training today Doddo in training with the troops still but no initials on training gear so still not singed, but must be really close to being over the line now.

18 Jul 2016 13:59:56
i don't have a rumour fellow bears. I've just purchased my season ticket and it's in the MRT section. has anyone been there? and if so is it an all right seat?

18 Jul 2016 18:24:54
Bit cold on the winter, the plastic gets cold. its a nice colour though.

18 Jul 2016 11:53:51
Not a rumour!
But I think some1 like Andy weimann could really be a great signing, was brilliant when he broke through at villa the. They weeee suprised when sold to derby but they have bent Blackman and Martin so I don't think Derby would be difficult to deal with either. Perfect warburton signing young talented that's lost his way a bit. Also penalty box striker. Just my opinion.

18 Jul 2016 12:33:03
He would rip it up here under MW.

18 Jul 2016 13:41:17
According to his tranfermarket he is contracted to Derby till 2019. Valued at 3.5 mil so unless Derby are willing to sell at a loss or a loan deal, don't think it will happen imo.

18 Jul 2016 17:05:00
he's God awful. a striker who doesn't score.

18 Jul 2016 10:28:41
How's about a striker that can play in the air as well? Warbs did say that he would take another striker plus Dodoo so here's hoping. There must be one hiding out there!

I think It's always good to have a player like that on the bench as it keeps other managers guessing when it's squeaky bum time and makes the team more dangerous from set pieces. Onwards and upwards fellow bears. Keep up the momentum.

18 Jul 2016 17:55:56
A player who can play on the air? Tricky one; Chris Eagles, Darren Peacock Robin van Persie. we do have a Joey, and we're signing a dodoo, but unfortunately, he's flightless!

18 Jul 2016 19:06:15
Or we could get a striker for the Canaries, the Bluebirds, the Eagles, the Swans, or the cockerels?
sorry chaps.

19 Jul 2016 00:28:41
Stuarteah mw is has brought in a few good sized players, probably for corner kicks, for and against us, well that's my thought on these bigger players.

19 Jul 2016 04:48:32
Dodoo at 6ft should start to giv us an aerial threat, this lad is going to be awesome! if Warbs goes two up front him and Wags will do for me. just my opinion but I think he will use Windass in a strikers role, can't see him in our midfeild Jusy my opinion Bears.

18 Jul 2016 10:04:29
Just watching those clips on YouTube of Joe Dodoo again and wondering if this is the penalty box striker we've been craving? He certainly looks the part.

18 Jul 2016 13:32:32
He looks sharp as a razor blade in front of goal, he would be an amazing signing, hope we get this deal sorted by friday and he might get some game time Friday night.

18 Jul 2016 13:44:02
In fairness everybody looks the part on youtube but does come with very good reviews down south.

18 Jul 2016 13:50:58
Agreed stiv. I was more meaning that most of his goals have come from within the 18 yard/ penalty box.

18 Jul 2016 07:41:52
That was a good opening win on Saturday, away to a SPL team. Once our new signings start to kick in regularly (Barton, Kranjcar, Rossiter, Windass, Crooks and Hill) we'll be very strong. I was hoping that Dominic Ball would return as I was impressed with him last season. Now that we have cover for Tavernier, it would be intriguing to see him play further forward in right midfield - a mouth-watering prospect. The future is looking good but we must hit the ground running with a good win over Hamilton Accies on 6th August and send a strong message to Brenda and the others.

18 Jul 2016 08:28:51
Ball was ok but nothing special i'd like to see a defender who is more dominant in the air as we desperately lack someone like that. Great result but defence was very weak and unless we tighten up we ain't going to win the league and could struggle for top 3.

18 Jul 2016 10:05:26
Wouldn't say Ball wasn't something special he's 20 and made us look far more solid when he played in either CB or CDM can pass the ball has physicality and could go for a pretty penny in the future.

18 Jul 2016 08:33:28
I think a win against Hamilton is a must they got beat 2 nil off Ayr so I expect to put a few past them but 1-0 will do get our first points on the board
I agree if play tav further forward and play hodgson right back and where's aird was wanting to see how he's developed.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game to see how Barton puts his stamp on the team he's very vocal and demanding as a midfielder I can see his sorting out the team at corners free kicks and in general play got a feeling he's our super glue this season.

As he wants to win every game as rangers players should he's not here for the money it's about winning with Barton I'm sure the other players will see and feel that as well.

18 Jul 2016 10:24:24
Ball is most definitely something special. Hard to believe he's only 20. He adapted well to a midfield role for us but his natural position is centre back, a position we're frankly short of quality in. If we somehow managed to con Spurs into letting him go it would be the signing of the decade.

18 Jul 2016 11:49:27
Humey. The MLS regular season runs till October so Aird is on loan till at least then.

18 Jul 2016 12:21:01
Think I would only be interested in Ball now as a CD, with Crooks on board together with the other new recruits MF sorted IMO.

18 Jul 2016 14:45:22
calm down abit kfraser he definitely wouldn't be the signing of the decade.

18 Jul 2016 15:25:33
Hahahaha seaofibrox 😂. Big Dom did a good job for us last season. Was class in the big games. At times I thought he was just a big plank of wid, like Bert Konterman. Then again he is only 20 and I'm sure he'll progress it a cracking big player. Wish him all the best.

18 Jul 2016 18:19:38
Signing of the decade? Hope your at the wind up pal, ? Decent in a very poor division, but, according to you, he be a bigger signing than Davie Weir, and hundreds of others.

18 Jul 2016 02:37:55
I think hill and wilson would be good at the back just now until we get a new cb. Think hill could guide wilson the wsy davie did.

18 Jul 2016 08:29:40
Neither has any pace.

18 Jul 2016 10:01:21
Biffo, CB's don't need to have pace they need to know how to read the game. The wingbacks have the pace and use that to cover any defensive lapses of the more (stereotypically) larger/ stronger and less mobile CB's. With a more experienced DM sweeping up the middle of the park messes the CB's would be less prone to a counter attack. This ONLY works is both wingbacks do their defensive duty or the sides become a vulnerability (Hibs cup match when Stokes continually got behind Tav and put Kiernan on the back foot/ Motherwell when their LW was doing the same) As you say. Kiernan is not mobile enough to sweep, but he has to because Tavs hasn't got his back!

18 Jul 2016 04:29:28
I'm not sure Wilson should still need to be guided through games at his age.

18 Jul 2016 11:31:58
I think everyone's reading too much into the defensive performance on Sat. The manager rewarded last years team with starting slots for the first game of the season, and rightly so. I'm 100% sure he knows that Wilson and Kienan with Halliday in front is not good enough for the SPFL week in week out.
Wilson will remain with whoever gets the nod beside him, be it Crooks, Hill or someone coming in. Crooks, Barton or Rossiter will play in the CDM role and either one will go a long way to shoring up the defence.
It was essentially a pre season friendly (2nd game) and we won, kept a clean sheet and played a team from the division above off the park, like we did with most of them last year. People keep saying they could have had a couple inside 20 mins but we could have had 6 or 7 on another day.
I'm taking nothing but positives from Sat. If we start the first game of the league with the same team I'll be worried as it would mean this is the team the manger thinks is the strongest, when it quite clearly is not. It was no coincidence none of the new boys started, it was clearly a thanks for the hard work last year guys situation.
On a side note I'd also like to see Kiernan beside Hill or Crooks as well in one of these cup games, I don't think he's a bad player I just think him and Wilson are too similar to play together at a high level.

18 Jul 2016 13:44:35
Not sure if you realise it Dmccunnin but DW is only 24 and is our youngest cb.

18 Jul 2016 15:39:39
Recbob, totally agree. (Except the part about 'from the division above') know what you meant tho big man.

18 Jul 2016 18:09:34
Not sure if you realise it Rossw, but DW has played for Scotland, Rangers, Hearts, and Liverpool and in the Cl? Only 24? A good age for a football player.

18 Jul 2016 02:05:29
Long time reader. First post i find it suprizn the negatvie posts about wee barry mackay n how he has to play the way he played against celtic. cause i personaly think there's nt one player who played in that semi final has played that good since. The whole team that day i think played out there skin. Ps what i love about this team is it looks like they play for the jersey not the wage.

18 Jul 2016 08:48:44
Yes Dave79, that is true, the team dipped after the Celtic game. As for playing for the jersey, time will tell.
I feel that the way they are coached and play, under the management team, gives them the "feel good" factor as a team. The importance given to the right type of player being approached is obviously paying dividends. Long may it continue.

18 Jul 2016 10:04:35
I don't believe we will see such a dip in form again due to the now tremendous strength in depth we have in midfield. The best part being the recruits we have bought in are of a higher quality or on par with what we have. Last 5 games of 15/ 16 season we scraped 4/ 5 on the bench with no defensive cover!

18 Jul 2016 10:12:35
I completely agree with you Dave79. Wee Barrie gets a lot of stick on here and I think it's unjustified. He is a really good player and he will only get better with the new competition in the squad.

18 Jul 2016 11:36:07
Mckay is my first name on the team sheet every week. His link up play with Wallace, his ability to beat his man all game, his vision of finding an intricate pass no one else sees and executing it is all second to none. His shooting gets better every game. He will be the best player to come through the ranks since Ferguson once he realises his potential and will leave for double figures.
I think people criticising him have been watching the wrong guy.

18 Jul 2016 14:14:29
think McKay is total class, missed a sitter on saturday tho.
