18 Jan 2017 21:08:52
If we signed 2 solid defenders our 2 new loan signings hit the ground running then I reckon we could turn a corner and really compete. If we go with team as is the now we will struggle to get 2nd. We don't need a fortune in cash just a few cheap gems look at Dembele cost same as MOH. There out there we just don't have scounting staff to find them.

18 Jan 2017 21:16:38
What about a striker?

18 Jan 2017 21:36:52
They cost more money if we sold Waggy then maybe free up cash to get another striker. Saying that we don't create many chances so would need to be Suarez 🙈

18 Jan 2017 22:05:39
Why sign two defenders when we don't have a holding midfield / defensive midfield player! Surely that should be our number one priority unless Rossiter is fit and ready to take over from Halliday!

18 Jan 2017 23:13:22
Davie big toe

Not necessarily Kilmarnock got their striker for nothing and are on the verge of selling him for £750k so it can be done just a pity we spent £1.8m on one who can't score

18 Jan 2017 23:26:10
I'd take coulibaly at that price, we should make a move. Another young lad with lots of potential and scored some screamers this season

19 Jan 2017 08:56:41
The biggest problem is up front not our holding midfielder their job isn't to score which is what we are poorest at.

19 Jan 2017 13:41:26
Youre off the mark Cee, The strikers are getting no supply in the right areas. Our midfield is ineffective. That holding midfielder you choose to ignore is essential for the way our team is set up to play and we don't have it.

Midfield is a priority.

19 Jan 2017 13:58:23
Bull crap they get plenty of supply. A holding midfielder won't help create any chances anyway so your that far off the mark it's a throw in. How many time have we seen garner, waghorn and miller miss from bloody 6 yards? Plenty. None of them can hit a barn door and none of them have the ability to create a chance for themselves.

19 Jan 2017 16:27:24
Read my post clearly I never mentioned anything about a holding midfielder being a creative midfielder. Halliday is meant to drop deep and support the defence he is incapable of doing it and incapable of playing a ball out accurately to relieve the pressure.

Take your time when reading.

18 Jan 2017 18:44:36
i am not complaing about king and co but we have now moved on orloaned the following barton crooks walsh hardie aird and a ood few others in return we have 2 arsenal loanees and m o h and possibl others to go does not smack of ambition to me

18 Jan 2017 18:54:26
Who's the 2 Arsenal loanee's.? And the way we are playing we need to get the wage out.

1 point fans used to rave about aird now all they do is slate him. I say play him and not let him go.

18 Jan 2017 19:32:35
Did we get another loan from Arsenal?

18 Jan 2017 19:33:38
Fifaguy

Fraser Aird has signed for Falkirk till the end of the season.
All the best for the future.

18 Jan 2017 21:44:36
Bigwull, your post went a wee bit adrift but I agree with what you are trying to get across.
Because of lack of funds and a mis-guided footballing plan, we will drift along as a nonentity of a team, unless we have a radical overhaul.
Throwing money into our club, as it stands, is like flushing it down the pan.
Just one question for all those happy with DK's "plan" and MW's "tactics" and "signings", how we get from where we are to a team capable of competing for the league? Just remebering that getting a suitable merchandising deal is not an overnight cure.

18 Jan 2017 18:28:04
Should we maybe use the african market more? It isn't hard to believe their could be a few hidden gems not quite unearthed yet (no pun intended)

18 Jan 2017 19:51:57
I think the big continental teams gets the best of the young african players i'd rather look at eastern europe and austrian/ swiss leagues I think there is a lot of talent around there! Someone mentioned Italian french dutch leagues but these boys want to make it in thier own leagues and probably view Scottish football as step backwards where the likes of Slovakian Hungarian etc would view a move to scotland as a ticket to english football if they make the grade

18 Jan 2017 22:37:59
So employ a scouting team

19 Jan 2017 06:49:35
I think getting non eu youngsters visas or international clearance can be difficult.

19 Jan 2017 10:02:20
Since King seems to spend more time in South Africa than he does in the UK maybe we should ask him to scout some players for us! They could't be any worse than some of the ones that we have signed!

19 Jan 2017 16:48:54
Africa have produced some cracking talent over the years and continue to at presnt. The only thing that would put me off would be the situation a lot or clubs in Europe find themselves in now. the African cup of nations! It's a critical time of the season to lose a player.

18 Jan 2017 17:45:17
Do all bears agree on the 54th minute of every game we should put all our lights on on mobiles on to remind all the haters that we have 54 league titles and still the worlds most successful club how good would ibrox look with everyone's lights on at the 54th minute

18 Jan 2017 18:07:56
and copy the green mob from across the city? . nah I'd rather we had our own ideas

18 Jan 2017 18:17:16
Great idea what a wonderful new idea, oh wait a minute we do it on the 67th min for genuine Euro cup win.
Still its good to know u want to follow us again.

18 Jan 2017 18:25:53
If anyone at ibrox even attempts to do this at ibrox ill never be back that's what the manky mob do why would we want to copy they tramps come on bears we can think of our own ways to honour our history

18 Jan 2017 19:21:47
Manky mob, tramps, that's very original😅😅

18 Jan 2017 19:28:44
Rayman99

Did your support not copy a song from a very famous team from Liverpool or copy another supports backwards celebration?

18 Jan 2017 19:35:44
Oh dear, do football fans really do such things? How pathetic- just my opinion.

18 Jan 2017 22:10:03
Stewie, they copied both the Everton and Liverpool songs. They are renowned for stealing from other teams!

19 Jan 2017 07:51:31
Fans using their phones like that in stadiums has been around for ages. its hardly some genius idea conceived by a Celtic fan lol.

18 Jan 2017 13:23:25
Looking for opinions on this bears but what is mcparland actually scouting area wise all he comes up with is scottish and english players lately or people who have played for warburton already why are we no searching europe for a better calibre of player ie leagues in germany spain italy france holland all must have afforable players better than what we have or are looking at just a thought

18 Jan 2017 13:37:26
Totally agree Scott87. Have to broaden our horizons a great deal.

18 Jan 2017 14:02:27
Frank McParland is one guy, he is the head of a scouting team with no scouts. he is doing so well considering his hands are tied.

18 Jan 2017 14:47:41
I would guess it is all about pricing mate. We can get young affordable talent from the UK leagues because we can sign them on cheap pre-contracts with limited resources used and a nominal fee. The same rule that enabled us to pick up the likes of Rossiter and Dodoo does not apply for all the european leagues i think. Also - If we aren't scouting abroad, how did we sign Sergei Atakayi? Most of his contacts are in the UK, that much is obvious. But not all of them

18 Jan 2017 14:52:30
Exactly spoc, he's not able to scout Europe on his own. Especially with the fact we probably can't afford to ship off all over the world to search for players.

18 Jan 2017 15:00:24
Frank McParland is one guy, we appreciate that but the reason he was given the job was due to his extensive contacts throughout the footballing fraternity.
We can't expect champagne service for lemonade money but we should be getting better value considering the wages we are paying. If he did not have one hand tied behind his back then maybe he would supply us with a better product. There are many problems at Ibrox that need addressed in both the long and short term so let's hope we see genuine progress on all fronts in the near future.

18 Jan 2017 15:05:05
Spoc he must have european connections considering he was at liverpool aswel am sure we have more than one scout aswel and ex players keeping rangers informed even if it was players using us as a stepping stone to england and that's the gems we need buy on cheap and sell for a profit instead of players who have been down in englands low leagues for a few years and haven't been noticed still

18 Jan 2017 15:07:04
I think Teddy has it spot on. I hope MW reads his own statements from last year and sticks to young talent that can add value.

18 Jan 2017 16:25:34
Teddy of the south Sergei atakayi was on trial at fulham and Leicester before he signed for rangers where am sure mcparland got wind of him not doubting he's got some good talent in just think we need a bigger option for players

18 Jan 2017 16:45:23
warburton says one of the reasons to goes for british players more is because plays from europe can take longer to settle in and he needs players to hit the ground running, which he thinks british players do which i disagree with

18 Jan 2017 17:03:37
none of warburtons signings have hit the ground running lol maybe hit the ground and stretcherd off

18 Jan 2017 17:15:55
At Liverpool McPArland could shop in quality Markets, at Rangers under absentee Landlord, King, he can't even afford to shop at Aldi or even Pound land. In fact I doubt he could even afford the 'barres' or 'Paddy's Market'.

18 Jan 2017 19:27:29
He doesn't have a hand tied, he has both. How do we know he isn't providing good talent and Warbs' domestic bias - mentioned above - led to them not being signed. Literally our scouting network is Frank McParland and only Frank McParland.

19 Jan 2017 08:29:45
I'm going to throw it out there but why not try and get John Park in to work along side McParland. He is out of work and was the man who uncovered Van Djik and Wanyamma for them.

19 Jan 2017 03:34:49
But how do know that we aren't doing that, we will be searching all over Europe and further, but we don't always here about this, as we only here about players that sign, not the players we tried to sign

19 Jan 2017 09:48:50
Benny, I know Park of old and he is merely a self-serving mercenary who got lucky. He made a career out of employing other scouts and taking the credit for their discoveries, fact. He blagged his way into the senior game after being match secretary of an amateur team and is an arrogant little turd.

19 Jan 2017 10:05:40
I think we have to bear in mind that they joined the club with a 5 years plan. Summer 2016 he signed 4 or 5 17-19yr olds who went straight in to the U20's side. they bought Windass and Crooks as squad plauyers (unfortunate that both got injured after signing the pre-contrat, but that happens) Rossiter was the big one and again - Bad luck for us that he got injured. Dodoo again was brought in for more 1st team action at a low price. I see no flaw in their recruitment policy in youth at all. How many kids are you expecting them to bring in?

19 Jan 2017 14:07:48
they are certainly other countries we could be scouting for players and who offer better value than current first team players even players closer to home could improve our team but our management team seem intent on bringing english based players to the club this just shows the lack of knowledge
warburton weir have and macpharland as a bargain basment scout who looks for free agents and loans and seems to only scout players from england our scouting system needs a big overhaul still and more scouts added

18 Jan 2017 10:58:28
What about the exciting young Dundee player Craig Wighton. I've seen him on TV a couple of times and he looks really good and scores goals. Surely we could swoop for him this month and afford the fee and wages? He is only 19. Sam Nicholson from Hearts would also be a good catch and again is young (21).

18 Jan 2017 12:52:51
Very much in and out of the dundee team. Good player but i wouldn't say he would improve our team

18 Jan 2017 12:59:22
Souttar, nicholson and Jason Cummings.

18 Jan 2017 14:50:02
I've been a fan of Souttar for a long time. Nicholson I am unsure about, I would say Walker looks better. Cummings. Split opinions from all with that one. Everyone says he is a NED etc but he still bangs in the goals. I'd take him

18 Jan 2017 17:40:33
Walker from Hearts would be a welcome addition but Nicholson is currently recovering from an injury.
Cummings is a goalscorer but can't see either Hearts or Hibs selling either of them.

18 Jan 2017 09:49:44
Did the boy Gilmour play in the defeat to Celtic earlier in the week?

18 Jan 2017 10:34:22
Aye he started mate

18 Jan 2017 10:38:10
Starting 11 was

McCrorie, Ross McCrorie, Beerman, Bates, Wilson, Thomson, Barjonas, Gilmour, Burt, Rudden, Dallas

Subs : Wright, Atakayi, Jeffries, Houston, Abaradan, Ashmore, Bradley.

18 Jan 2017 14:52:17
A very very young team. average age of 18 i believe. Thomson/ Barjonas/ Burt/ Rudden are all still 17 i think? Glad to see that McCrorie is finally being played as a CB. When that boy starts to bulk up he will have serious potential. Fast, great tackler and good at reading the game. everything we are crying out for in a CB right now!

18 Jan 2017 22:21:11
I heard Celtic could have played their u16s and still beaten them lol your new club is total pish from top to bottom mate lol

19 Jan 2017 12:47:45
Clearly the Grand canyon is not the only big hole in Colorado but at least it doesn't spew crap!

18 Jan 2017 08:50:21
So we let O'Halloran go, probably to Hearts. The lad was hardly given a chance to show what he can do. £500,000 down the drain unless we can recoup that from whoever buys him. Another brilliant Warburton signing (not)!

18 Jan 2017 09:33:16
Do you have a credible source for this? (Daily rebel nor STV count as credible)

18 Jan 2017 10:42:03
Onlyshow

Would agree these sources have a habit of trying to wind up our support by printing these kind of stories. I

18 Jan 2017 11:35:13
MOH had plenty of chances to impress and didn't

18 Jan 2017 12:21:58
There are others that have had plenty chances to impress and don't that are still in the team every week! Not sticking up for MOH but the quality of our signings has been very poor indeed!

18 Jan 2017 12:43:39
TOMUSA

Your right there are other players who continually get chances and continually let the team down

18 Jan 2017 22:43:33
Can't blame O'Halloran one bit. There are a few of the undroppables I'd rather see go Hearts way but they're immune to the effects of dire performances. I agree he hasn't grabbed his place in the team by the scruff of the neck and that's disappointing but he does offer a threat no one else can when he's on his game. It's all about confidence and we saw what happened when Mckay lost his for a while.

19 Jan 2017 13:39:16
Just want to have my say regarding MOH. I as everyone on here will know by now, actually know the o'halloran family and did tell on here, we were signing michael 4 months before it happened. He's desparate to make it at rangers and is very frustrated at lack of game time! He thinks he's doing fine in training and thinks he badly needs a run of 4 or 5 games to prove his worth to the team! Trust me guys, when I say this, he does want to go out on loan in order to get a run of games! He also believes by going on loan and showing rangers yet again what he can do, by getting a run of games, it might be the making, he hopes, of his rangers career! He desperately wants to play and make it with rangers.

What i can't understand, is we chased him for almost 5 months and knew the way moh plays, but don't play a style that suits the way he plays! Why sign the guy then i ask, as we were desparate to sign him, strange indeed! We play garner now as he's a good outball and gives us the option of playing it long at times, when we need to. Here's my thinking here regarding moh, why not play him through the middle and use the long outball at times over the top, and to his strengths so he can run onto! Because once he's away he'll run past the opposition centre halfs, as if they're not there! that's where he did his damage against us, when he played for St. johnstone! that's the guys strengths!

If arsene wenger the arsenal manager, can turn thierry henry from a wide player into a central player and now more recent, he's turned alexis sanchez from a wide player into a more central player, then why can't warbs not move MOH from a wide position, into the more central position? Can you see the similarities, bears? Imo MOH could do the business for rangers by moving him into the centre, just like henry and sanchez! The 3 are similar styled players with tremendous pace! What do we all think about what i've said here? ED, what do you think yourself regarding this mate?

18 Jan 2017 07:46:44
Surely if we let o'halloran out to hearts on loan then we will insert a clause that means he won't play against his parent club. This is the norm, look at his last year. If they ended up playing the tinks in the sc final then henderson and stokes wouldn't have played.

18 Jan 2017 08:52:52
It would be idiotic to allow O'Halloran to go to Hearts even with a clause prohibiting him from playing against us

18 Jan 2017 09:01:40
Why would we let a player go to a club who are also challenging for 2nd place in the league?

18 Jan 2017 09:41:34
it's just another day in the life of being a rangers fan at the moment copland1 and yet another weird decision by our management team

18 Jan 2017 10:16:29
If he goes to Hearts on loan and plays well, it can work in our favour too. He might flourish there and return a better player. Or flourish and his asking price might go up. There are positives to it if you are prepared to look for them. He isn't getting game time with us, I can definitely see it being a positive. Personally, I don't think he is getting utilised properly in our set up, we may just see another dimension to his game. It is not all doom and gloom with Rangers.

18 Jan 2017 10:39:16
He'll struggle to get a game at hearts anaw

18 Jan 2017 10:42:47
Management team? we don't have one.

We have 1 guy that thinks we don't need defenders and that Garner is a top class striker that he wasted £1.8 mil on.
Another guy (Weir) that thinks a £100 mil wouldn't be enough to challenge for the SPL.
What planet are these 2 on .

I am just glad we don't have £100m to give them.

18 Jan 2017 10:59:12
Cullin72

Has it never occurred to you that if he flourishes Hearts may finish above us? Also I doubt very much we will get the money back we paid for him or he will come back and challenge for a first team spot next season. It's clear the manager doesn't fancy him and the only reason they want to put him on loan is that no one would pay anywhere near £500k to buy him

18 Jan 2017 11:45:47
Stewie, I am trying to see it from a balanced view. I was simply pointing out that it need not necessarily be a negative move. He might be a complete flop with Hearts too, but they will pay his wages for that.

18 Jan 2017 12:26:07
It need not be a negative so long as we have a team that can finish second. Unfortunately there is no guarantee of that. Hearts have strengthened during the winter close down and while, in theory so have we, we have done absolutely nothing to sort out our defensive midfield or our lack of a goalscorer! If MOH goes on loan, good luck to him. Our current management team quite clearly has their favourites and he is not one of them!

18 Jan 2017 12:46:03
Cullin72

They will pay a portion of his wages. Anyone with any sense wouldn't help out a rival it makes no sense and can bring an added pressure to a manager currently under pressure.

18 Jan 2017 13:00:53
He didn't say that gosman? He said that 100 million doesn't buy success and he is right.

18 Jan 2017 13:12:51
Ok Stewie, life is black and white only. Personally I would rather he was in the team and playing well. Just agree to disagree. I have tried explaining why it could be a positive. Leave it at that.

18 Jan 2017 14:55:24
Cee, once again you are wrong. Buying success did not come into it.

Weir stated that £100 million might not be enough to close the gap on the Dims so i repeat, what planet is he on?

18 Jan 2017 19:25:56
Cullin72

Why take the chance though as it could work out bad for us. I'm not disagreeing about sending him on loan but not to Hearts. I agree with you he hasn't been given a chance and utilised properly. Why would a manager who is under pressure potentially invite even more pressure by loaning a player to our rivals for a European spot? It's not beyond possibility that he could go there play well and they could end up beating us to the last European spot? Your right potentially there could be positIves but is it really worth the risk?

18 Jan 2017 22:16:40
If true, then it must be a deal sweetener for one of hearts players. Maybe the boy nicholson.

18 Jan 2017 22:40:46
well to be fair who he goes to isn't down to warbs he will have been asked if its okay to loan the player out and said yes to whom I think is up to people above him

18 Jan 2017 06:51:08
I may be shot down here but what about Andy Halliday being pushed up as a centre forward? Because he does have an eye for goal and he's never a DM.

18 Jan 2017 07:40:48
Halliday needs to be dropped! He's been awful, truly awful.

18 Jan 2017 07:57:47
Shot down!? Put down more like! he's just not good enough full stop he has no technique or control and he can't pass! We have dodoo garner miller waghorn who can play center forward so sorry but halliday will never play there!

18 Jan 2017 08:37:47
How bout he play further up in centre where he would be more productive and can get closer to goal to have shots I he certainly has the power to unleash drives on goal and we make a move for the young forward at morton jai quitonga who looks a good player and go for Matthew knox from livi instead of fulling team of loan players again surley these lads are withing our reach

18 Jan 2017 10:11:40
If Halliday was half as good as he thinks he is we would all be delighted but if his articles in the press are anything to go by then re really is deluded. As a defensive midfield player he is very poor and indeed my own personal opinion is that he is not good enough for this league. His passing is poor as is his tackling and his positional sense and he lacks guile.

I doubt he would be any better further up the park but at least it is worth a shout since that is more his position however this is all academic since for some absurd reason Warburton won't drop him!

18 Jan 2017 10:43:39
Good post Craig these are the type of players we should be going for rather than some of the wasters that were brought in

18 Jan 2017 15:12:36
On the subject of Halliday here's an idea. Ask hearts to take him as well.

18 Jan 2017 22:17:01
I doubt that Hearts would want him!

18 Jan 2017 23:38:19
exactly stewie25 we could bring these players in on a fraction of the wages that we have spent on others there is plenty of talent in scotland if you look but warburton seems to favour the english market we can not compete down there but we can compete in scotish market so we should switch our attention closer to home

18 Jan 2017 00:06:10
Rangers should go for
Nigel de Jong as our defensive midfielder and sort that problem hard solid player he would be good he's only 30

18 Jan 2017 00:59:05
32 he is. he's still it galatasaray a think

18 Jan 2017 00:59:05
32 he is. he's still it galatasaray a think

18 Jan 2017 07:51:09
Too old n too dear, would rather we had gave crooks a run of 5 or 6 games probably never see what the boy could have Brought to team now

18 Jan 2017 08:58:56
Would crooks be any better? he isn't good in the air, he is also meant to be a bit of a pussy. We need a hard hitting type of Holding mid, crooks could likely replace holt though?

18 Jan 2017 10:13:06
Someone like DeJong for the rest of this season while young Rossiter gets fit would be a good move. We definitely need better than we currently have!
