Super ally, super ally etc, etc

What does the man do?

Ally is NOT blameless in this whole shambles but he is only doing what he is legally obliged to do as an employee (fact)

In the ideal world he would walk away and tell them to stuff their payoff and no doubt confidentiality clause, but why should he?

It is no secret ally was not and is not the greatest manager we have had and I for one have said this on a few occasions, but let's just for a moment forget the dreadfull football, tactics and brain numbing games we have had since liquidation, he has so far got us nearly there but at a great cost in monetary terms and emotional lows, let's just look at the man and his position in this "great stadium robbery"

In the first two seasons we the fans did all that was asked of us, we followed the team everywhere from forest mechanics, to Annan and everywhere In between, ally to be fair under very trying conditions and sanctions did his bit and yes we had our blips but we got there and the "journey" was in full swing.

This season has been nothing short of abysmal and yes ally must shoulder most of the blame football wise, take the football out of the equation and just focus on all the crap that has happened with God knows how many boardroom upheavals CEO's have come and gone, directors PAID obscene amounts to quickly and quietly slip away not to tell a soul! Ally has had no other choice but to go with the flow and I can bet secretly he has hated most of the characters that have crossed his path.

I say don't hate ally but take a step back and look at the bigger picture and the unsavoury characters that have used the club only as a cash machine to withdraw at will!

Remember the night he scored against Leeds utd in the Battle of Britain? Scored untold goals against THEM! Hat tricks galore too many to mention great, great memories I hope it doesn't tarnish that great history he has with the mighty Glasgow rangers.

It must also be noted the board have been dirty rotten scoundrels using ally as ammunition for themselves disclosing his renumeration and severance details now public knowledge, it has "wee toxic jack's" dabs all over it, not to mention when ally does go it will cost them to get rid of kenny and durrant as there position is untenable!

Just a personal analysis but things need to change big time first and foremost the board need to be launched and I mean all of them, new faces new ideas new board please Santa!

Rr. Good post mate, lots of us forget the sh. te ally has had to put up with, and lots also forget he is a ranger, in fact the last one to leave our club, I see his tendering his recegnation a bit like custars last stand.

Decent post RR. The only bit I disagree with is "No other choice".
There is always a choice
Both options may be unsavoury but there will always be one more palatable than the other. Personally I feel that unlike the ordinary working man, Ally was already in more of a financially secure position to take a moral stand and speak on behalf of the club and fans he professes to love. Instead I feel a bit betrayed.
I know this is a bit of an extreme comparison but consider the 'choice' faced by people like Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, the Dali Lama etc and the ramifications for their moral stance? From where I'm sitting this was hardly 'Sophies Choice' it was Ally's choice. Yet despite warnings from friends such as Walter and Bomber he chose the money. Think how different things could have been if Ally hadn't championed every Charlatan that came in the door? Remember, we committed to Chucks Rangers when Ally gave his seal of approval, not before. However, I don't think he's the calculated saboteur he's made out to be on here. He's just the same as the majority of people who take the money when push comes to shove. That's fine, but just don't make out you're the same as the guy in the stand when this is clearly not the case. Accept your failings with grace Ally and allow people to remember you as the cheeky goal machine that gave them so much joy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment bay! I just think this is déjà vu for us the fans and ally could do anything he wants with regards to his employment. It's this board and the unseen mystery shareholders who really don't give a f**k about Rangers and certainly not the fans, I think they can only draw from the well so many times and ally and co will need to make a decision after the AGM, it's certainly not just money as ally is a very wealthy man could he have something up his sleeve?

I know what's up his sleeve, his fat arm!
I hope tomorrow he stays in the dugout and let's McDowall get on with it, for me he is the nearest thing to a coach we have.He might have something up his sleeve, like a forward pass on the deck.

New blogger here. I have read this site for several months and like many of you am in utter despair re the state of our club. I purchased shares when Charlie boy made them available as an emotional tie and things have gone bad in a big way since. I have a number of points to make, so please be patient with me. Firstly, I agree Ally is a poor manager and I reluctantly agree he has to go, but he does not deserve the abuse he gets on this forum. He has not improved any of the players signed on and the style of football is very poor. Next, his wages are not an issue to me. We all would accept the money we are offered if it was well above our current wages. That goes for the players too! Next, the real culprits were the CEO's who agreed the contracts, but remember players/management wages are under 30% of turn over. How does that compare to clubs such as Aberdeen, Dundee Utd etc? Next, Rececntly both Aberdeen and Utd have restructured their debt to become "debt free". During this it has been revealed that their debt was above 60% of turnover at least. When Rangers went bust debt was £18m, less than 30% of turnover at the time. Why then has so much bile been directed at Rangers and the other two are held up as paragons of financial discipline? Lastly for now on the players; I agree Black, Daly, Shiels, Foster and Mohsni are never good enough ( add Faure to that list ), but remember we could only get free transfers as we could not buy players even if we wanted. I think Templeton cost about £800k; a complete waste of money in my opinion. A lot of people here scream to play the kids. How many of them are good enough? With the exception of MacLeod, every one has had pelters on this site and in the early days when all we had were kids the football was shocking. Remember Stirling Albion? It will be a long and painful return to something like where we were before but the healing process must start with the board; they need to be purged!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - the debt wasnt £18m, i think you are thinking of the amount that was owed to Lloyds Bank alone and was "cleared" by Craig Shite)

As I understand things, MA and the SPFL came to an agreement that he would not increase his stake above 10%, nor would he exert any significant influence in the running of the club. It appears MA will underwrite the forthcoming share issue which will certainly increase his stake well above 10%. Add to that the influence of Lambias etc then it is clear that MA is in breach of this agreement, hence the notice of complaint the SPFL has issued to MA and the club. The question seems to be is this agreement sufficiently strong to stand up in a court of law? It would appear that MA believes it would not!

Hi ed can you help, I think the SFA 10% of shares rule was put in on the behest of Rangers- remember CG always saying no one will ever own more than 10% of the club again ie no more Craig Whyte like owner. So if we asked for that rule to be put in place it no use crying now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - there is no such rule, that was a "business model" proposed by CG and has nothing to do with SFA, SPFL or dual ownership)

The rule is actually that nobody with a controlling interest in another club is allowed more than 3% shareholding in a second one. MA and Rangers got special dispensation to break that limit on hte promise that he would not exceed 10%. Rangers subsequently asked the SFA if he could increase it to ~25% and the SFA asked for the business case to explain. Nothing was forthcoming from Ibrox.

A question for all fellow bears, I know a lot of people on this site have said they won't go back to Ibrox as long as Ally is still in charge ( myself included ), but if you did go to to the Livingstone game on Saturday and you were given two choice's but had to pick one, either to boo Ally or cheer for Ally which would it be, I have very mixed feelings on this but I'm afraid it would be a boo from me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2014 16:46:24
im one of the so called boycotters but even though I will be relived when Ally goes (i won't be happy) but I certainly would never boo him Ally going is only half way there for many of us stay away fans to renew our tickets the biggest culprits in my opinion are the board and the institutional share holders.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lochaberbear
I agree with your point about the board, I was talking to an Everton fan today and he was trying to get me to explain what is actually going on with Rangers, iI told him I need about two weeks to explain, without not knowing a lot he reckons ally should get a medal for sticking with Rangers and I laughed at him, that's why it's a tough one for me because as a player Ally has given me some great moments in my life, but as a manager he frustrates me so much to the point of anger, and I maybe wrong here but I do think he's taking the piss more than what he thinks he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why bother going at all if all you are going to do is show your contempt of the manager? Go to a game just to 'boo' someone? Hmmm. Each to their own though.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I had two mouths both would boo he is greedy and as far as mangers the words hopeless and hapless spring to mind

Royalblue: I know a guy that's a Preston fan,and he thinks McCoist is getting the sh***y end a the stick as well! These guys are only reading your Goughs and Gorams in the papers, and he's got his pundit pals down south, club legend blah blah. He'll be off after AGM anyway mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Royalblue and gkk, You are spot on about how ally is perceived, by many, down south. I spoke to a relative, from Southampton, who thought with ally's resignation the support would fall dramatically. So come on Soton Bear spread the gospel.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2, 5, 6 I watched the QoS game in my local rangers pub in south of Spain, before the game I was talking to a Sunderland supporter and he told me he was surprised that I was happy about McCoists resignation as he was doing a great job for us.

I said, Let's watch the game then tell me what you think

not surprisingly he was in agreement

Billy b, been on the case for a wee while now mate, people down here see Ally as the cheeky chappie from question of sport who is dyed in the wool true blue that deserves to be treated so much better after all he has done for and been through for our club, thankfully during his tenure interest in Scottish football has dwindled as has TV coverage down here so most have not seen Ally stood on the touchline in a straight jacket modelled as a Rangers blazer barking out orders and directing the free flowing that has been on show for so long now. Just a word of warning for the the fans of club's in the lower reaches of English football if this ex manager of ours is touted your way resist with all you have because if he can do this to us imagine what he could do for you. BE WARNED.

i listen to clyde 1 supper score board every evening from the sanctuary of my shed (wife is a soap fan) and i'm sick to the back teeth of the so called experts Keevins, Dalziel, Guidi, Delahunt etc talk down to callers as if everyone is thick except them. when someone beats them in an argument they are abruptly cut of by Delahunt.

if I have heard from them once I've heard it from them 100 time Ally has nothing to do with what players get paid. well guys I beg to differ every manager has a wage budget that he has to keep within so its only natural that who is sorting out the contract would consult the manager.

scenario

Ally - here charlie I want to sign ian Black
Charlie - ok Ally I will speak to his agent
Charlie - I spoke to his agent he said he will sign if we pay him £8k a week is he worth it.
Ally - aye sign him or no hunt him

maybe not exactly what was said but you get the jist

one more rant if any of you guys listen have you heard how many time Daziel talks up Billy Davis and talks down any other contenders. heard him argue with a Celtic fan when the guy asked about possibilities for the job Daziel said Butcher got hibbs relegated Stewart McCall walked away from Motherwell and billy davis has a great CV when the Celtic fan asked what Davis had won Daziels words "loads of things" when pressed he started stuttering and stammering then delahunt cut the bloke off. couldn't tell that Davis and Daziel are best mates lol.

Guidi is by far the worst for me

Agree0 Disagree0

I listen to it as well but the thing that p%#ses me off is they keep saying ally has done what was asked and that was to get us up the leagues. ffs!!are these guys for real. with the players and budget he had we should have won a league cup at the very least!anyone of us on here could have managed that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op. , I. Don't listen much to the prog but any time I have I hear deluhunt cut people off, I've never heard him say anything good about our club, and he does think he knows what he is talking about?honest, maybe a a caller will eventually ask him where he himself played as a footballer, ohh that's right.

I think it's crazy the manager has been allowed to continue he give it out how his Mr Rangers and that rubbish I don't do walking away then he decided I had enough but am no leaving right away I want another years money. What gets me is the signing we made this summer where all ally signing he chose them all he decided that with the iddiousity of thSt board we give these guys big wages on daft contracts. I can't stand hearts but they did it right they signed young players and experienced players who wanted to win not get another pay day. Rangers needs to look at them selfs and say we should be smashing the league with those guys but what the problem is that there are too many egos in the team to many people putting the 2 cent in when they should all be working to a commen goal with is promotion.

I still have the belief with we play celtic that we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Don't get me wrong we don't want a hiding but we also have a big oppertunity to turn the season around if by any chance we beat them.

As for the mangers and his back room team. If it was me and I really wanted to what's best for Rangers I would resign and leave immediately without any packages then they can leave with heads high and not be the management team who never got us back up.

As for the playing squad I would get rid of

Miller, black, moshni, smith, foster, daly, simonsen, shels,

Just to name a few these guys would not a get a game for team in league one in England so why are we paying then big salarys to underperform week In week out and he will not change his ways or the team

Either he is blind or he is losing his marbles If he thinks this is good

I don't agree with not turning up at ibrox but I can understand why supports don't turn up but I know that not one wants another administration nor liquidation

We are Rangers we stand united

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Listened to the radio last night and heard Kevin Kyle say while he was in signing talks he came out with a crazy figure when THE MANAGER asked him what kind of money he was after.

Maybe now the naive bears that somehow thought that a board with absolutely no experience of footballing matters did not ask McCoist for advice but negotiated big money contracts on their own will realise how dumb this idea was.

In case you did not hear the interview, Kyle got a deal close to the crazy figure he asked for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your head is in the sand if you think that Rangers will even give Celtic a game. In January any player that cvan kick a ball in a straight line will be off, well, let's re-phrase that, any player who can kick a ball will be off. the reason, the club can't afford to keep them. Hearts started playing these kids18 months ago when they knew there was no other way to go so by the time it came to them playing in the Championship most of these players had played a full seaosn in the SPL. Rangers and more specifically Ally decided that they didn't need to look to the youth, they decided that they needed experiance to beat a whole host of part time players in leagues 3 and 2. Now, you cannot afford to go to the youth because the pressure on the team is so intense and that is coming form the fans. Now, either the fans back the team and try to give them some confidence or they sit back and watch this very fragile house of cards collapse. Livvy at home who now have a new manager and then away to Hibs, 2 huge results needed, personally I can see 1 win and 1 defeat.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has a contractual obligation to give notice. The board have to be given time to find a replacement. Most working people have a notice period. I work for a company who want a 3 months notice period. I either serve that time or, by mutual agreement, they pay out my remaining obligation. This is not about heart and passion, it's business and he has to meet his signed agreement or agree to a deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it is buisness but at other buisness he would not have got the chance to resign he would have been sacked and had the board had the balls to sack him his rise would not have kicked in that's why he had to resign rather than wait to be sacked

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigwull I don't think ally will ever be a good manager, but come on, the board have had no reason to sack him, he has got us promoted, and maybe will get us promoted this season, but in my honest opinion they had no grounds to sack him, these people running our club have done more damage to us than ally could ever do, they got involved without having the money to run us properly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough BIGWULL and maybe that is what will happen. But to break a contract you have to be prepared to give remuneration for that. The club does not appear to have the financial resources to do that so it is what it is right now. Even bad managers being sacked get compensated because they have a contractual agreement. That why you hear the phrase "by mutual consent" - in other words a compensation deal has been agreed. Ally has not, in the legal sense - not the football quality sense, been involved in gross misconduct or any immediate sackable offense. In fact, on paper anyway, he has been successful in reaching the set targets of promotion through the leagues. Legally he is correct, morally? - well that's another matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2014 09:57:12
I was surprised when Ally was kept on as our Manager however when I think about it now I believe it to be part of plan from the board.

1. Ally stays and fans voice anger and frustrations towards him and team on the park and not the board.

2. Ally gets released and new manager comes in, fans happy with team on the park so will focus anger and frustrations towards the board and how the club is being run day to day with unanswered questions.

This board and the Easedales don't want point 2 especially so close to the AGM and want to divert attention away from them anyway they can.

Let's not make that easy for them and keep the pressure on this board to force change finally for the better, otherwise we will not get any answers from them or Mike Ashley at AGM regarding their actual plans for our club.

This is a game of chess, who will make the next move?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Dec 2014 10:43:50
your spot on with they points they want mccoist at that agm to deflect flak away from there self we shouldn't be fooled by this or the changing of board members its time for these over payed lazy unfit football players to stand up and be counted and perform for the fans and back there manager 100 percent kyle sayed in paper this morning the players are only there for the money well I think they need take along hard look at themselves at start performing or they will shipped out come end of season

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2014 11:56:06
I agree, Ally should fein a cold and not turn up let it back fire. I think with the abuse they will suffer tat the AGM it will be ended early and they will get up and walk away. These people don't care about the fans, not one bit we are just scum who fill their pockets in their eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally should turn up and when asked an awkward question should simply say "by contractual agreement, I cannot answer your question and I will pass it to the Chairman to respond. " Simple, it brings it back to the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

The board need Ally at the club right now to deflect any abuse and anger from the fans. Once the AGM is passed and the board come through relatively un-scathed then I would expect to see Ally moved on and a new manager (someone close to Ashley or Easdales) installed over next few weeks.

Credit to Hearts and their fans for showing us how to do it in half the time that we have been peeing against the wind.

Hearts are a perfect example of fan power saving the club. It seems that every other club has fans that will fight to save their club while Rangers fans sit back expecting a saviour to come along. It didn't happen in 2012 and still nothing has been learned. Everybody is waiting for Ashley or King to splash the cash and save the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it was the fans that saved hearts more the fact that their board lied about the true severity of their financial struggles, which allowed them to escape the punishment given to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 - it was one fan that saved hearts, Mrs Budge, it was her that put up the money for the CVA, the fans have a scheme going whereby they repay so much of that loan per month

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

A wee bit confused there I think Blueice. There financial woes were played out over 3 countries and were very well documneted. What they did have was a creditor who was willing to take a huge hit to recover some funds and they also hadnt robbed the tax man, never a good move. Rangers have huge numbers of fans but they are so fed up that they have walked away from the club and most of them won't walk back until they see some change. Everyone seems to think that Mike Ashley is now running the club, he isn't wevent he majpr shareholder for goodness sake. Personally I thonk the ride the Easedale brothers are getting is OTT, they have invested millions of pound sinto Rangers and have kept the club afloat on more than one occasion yet it seems that everything is their fault. Maybe if the so called saviours of the club had put the money on the table at the right time then the club wouldn't be in this mess but they didn't instead they stood back and told evry person who would listen that they were the way forward and not to buy anything. look where that has got the club. 8million needed to see the club through to the end of the season. that's a lot of money. and I am not sure the existing shareholders will want their investment diluted even further. time will tell I suppose.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like McCann across the city. Not a great footballing person but she saw a good business deal, good PR and a community service as well. They have went out of their way to clear debts ( including money owed to players who have left the club) and are sitting top of league. And at Ibrox wher one of the biggest clubs in the world reside. fricken shambles and talking about admin 2 to escape mounting debt.
