Keep reading on here for rossiter to start in old firm. He has played very little all season and wasn't even on the bench on Friday. I do like rossiter and think he will be good for us but nowhere near ready to start Saturday imo.

18 Sep 2017 00:42:59
Basically what it is mate is that a lot of fans just love a right good moan every single day of life.

So even though he is a player, he's definitely not a better option than the two CM's we play with currently, but as he's not playing and he has talent, people will pick on that to have, as previously stated, a right good moan.

These are the same folk that moaned when Forrester didn't get a game last year. Clueless.

18 Sep 2017 08:58:35
BearMode that's a wildly sweeping statement.
I am definitely not a moaner but I would like to see Rossiter in at the weekend.
Will he do better than the 2 in at the moment. no! But I believe that we need 3 in the middle for this game playing a 4-5-1.

This is also the sentiment I have heard from most of those bringing up Rossiter recently.
Every old firm game recently we have been over-run in midfield. If we hasd Jack and Rossiter in holding roles with Dorrans a little in front this is less likely to happen.

18 Sep 2017 10:05:30
we need to have 5 in the middle as having 4 would play right into their hands .
i don't know why we didn't get moult though a decision that will baffle me all season.
herrera is taller but i can't see him being tough enough to win any headers as from what i have saw he isn't the bravest

18 Sep 2017 10:19:02
Fair enough Bluegenius, I'll give you that it was a sweeping statement, slightly tongue in cheek mind you but possibly a bit unfair.

I agree with your comment about being overrun in the midfield, but we now have players with more dig and generally better footballer players in that position than last season.

The logic of playing Jack and Rossiter in the midfield together is pretty sound but in my experience, two CDM's in one team rarely works, example: Progres away. We played both those players and we could not create anything, and it certainly did not give us more stability defensively.

We also play variations of 442 this season, playing both Jack and Rossiter would mean leaving out Dorrans, or changing our formation completely.

18 Sep 2017 12:13:59
Rossiter is away playing in that new youth league anyway

18 Sep 2017 12:51:39
Rossiter is injured lads, along with Wallace and I think Krancer was the other.

18 Sep 2017 15:02:06
I am not slating you BearMode. I do happen to think Pedro will stick with the 4-4-2 we have been using but this, IMO, will be a mistake.
I know 2 CDM's is a bit negative but I don't see us scoring a barrel load and I'm hoping a 1-0 could be our only chance. Would love to outplay them in an expansive flowing game but this is less likely.
I would love to see John and Rossiter getting run outs tomorrow to get practice.
If Rossiter is injured then we should still play 4-5-1 with a middle 3 of Jack, Dorrans and either Holt or Windass. Then put Miller out wide left.

18 Sep 2017 15:38:54
Might just be me wearing the blue tinted specs but does anybody else feel we have absolutely rotten luck?

Considering out one loss this season was massively influenced by a shocking refereeing display, even the game on Friday, a honkin freekick hitting the wall makes it through on a deflection. (Although the 2nd was dreadful defending) . Partick were playing dirty, should have had a man sent off in the first half at 1-0, not even a foul given if I remember correctly?

People are also focusing on the fact we were playing 10 men, but surely people must know playing against 10 men with a goal advantage is always a tough task as they park the bus, which they did. Pretty embarrassing stuff from a home side tbh.

Celtic could have also been held to a draw vs Partick if the referee had been more competent.

18 Sep 2017 19:43:55
BearMode

Sometimes you get decisions sometimes you don't but you can't use it as an excuse. As for the deflection that happens and all teams get that sort of luck. We just aren't good enough plain and simple

19 Sep 2017 14:49:04
The recurring problem is - Tavernier is incapable of concentrating for 90 minutes. He has lost similar goals to the one on Friday through going to sleep at the back post and I can't see him changing. Celtic will look to exploit him on Saturday and based on his previous, he'll oblige. He is defensively weak, end of!

17 Sep 2017 20:44:09
To all pedro bashers out there if refs make the right decisions and send players off when they should ie stokes and edwards we were a goal up in both games and should have been a man up too . if this happens we would be joint top with septic. he shouldn't be held responsible for ipcompitant referees.

17 Sep 2017 21:09:15
Refs are poor in Scotland that's not something we can control. What we can control is how we play. Our game management is poor we start games well but then let teams play onto us.

17 Sep 2017 21:25:54
Our problems stem from not fixing the lb and rb problem and also could do with a keeper that comes for crosses
This is a serious weaknes that needed addresssed in the summer

17 Sep 2017 22:16:33
we should be able to recover from poor decisions but we can't

we go a goal up in most games but do not kill teams off and any decisions that go against us we crumble& struggle to close out almost every game we play

time for personnel and formation change for OF game like walter used to do so well don't be so open and easy to play against go 4-5-1 with rossiter in there to help compete in midfield

and please someone go get moult in jan - before someone else signs him up i reckon him and morelos wld be great together as a partnership pace and power both young aggressive strikers who shoot on sight

that wld do me

17 Sep 2017 23:51:20
So Tam don't you think the buffelo should have been sent of for kicking out twice at the Partick player. You create your own luck.

17 Sep 2017 23:52:02
I would like to see Pedro get it right on Tuesday but why can't wee bring the youth like other teams and Come sat the foreign players are going to have a big shock
With the atmosphere and realise that this is a club that needs players to step up to the mark and show exactly
What thay have ability wise.

17 Sep 2017 23:53:20
The full backs are told to play high up the park but if a player loses it in midfield the opposistion just ping it into our wide areas and we're exposed so its a team problem not the fullbacks problem. that's when our use of the ball has to b better. Selik play with attacking FBS but there midfielders take better care of the ball therefore they don't get caught out

17 Sep 2017 23:54:59
This is joke making excuses for the fact we are a poor side

18 Sep 2017 00:17:06
Rossiter has to start on Tuesday if he is to be any chance of playing in the old firm game and I think we should play a 4-3-3 against thistle I would play fod tav cardoso alves hodson jack rossiter dorrans pena candeias Morelos.

18 Sep 2017 08:19:36
The full backs are told to play high up the park and this is the problem we would have been better served tighting the defence up at rb lb and posibly gk.
Then allowing our midfielders and strikers to attack
Right now we are still lacking creativity in the centre mid postions
like last season as well
so there is still lot problems from last season and kenny miller no longer doing it either

18 Sep 2017 11:25:32
Only change on Tuesday will be goalkeeper and Declan on from the start.

18 Sep 2017 19:58:20
Declan was awful against Thistle. I'd have bearman any day.

17 Sep 2017 12:29:23
Anyone have ideas for slight changes for the team against Thistle in the cup on Tuesday?

"I am not the type of coach who looks to make changes just for the sake of it. If we have the need to make changes, then we will make changes. The team is ready to play every four days - we have four days to recover and then another four days. We are not concerned about it, but, for example, we need to see what is going on with Lee Wallace, and which players can be options for us on Tuesday. "

This suggests it'll be the same on Tuesday which would be a worry. Would've liked to see Rossiter or Pena get a start but going by this, it looks like it'll be John for Wallace.

17 Sep 2017 15:57:17
Same team I reckon as you say john for Wallace but on Friday showing I'd rather have Hodson or beerman

17 Sep 2017 16:11:12
it's beyond me that rossiter doesn't get a game - he's one of the most technical players we have and a proper disciplined defensive mid who wld screen our back 4 and give them cover

the OF game is crying out for a change in formation i'd go 4-5-1 drop windass for rossiter play miller and candeillas wide of a middle 3 suppporting morelos

17 Sep 2017 17:05:44
I'd agree I'd rather swap Rossiter for Windass than Rossiter for Miller.

Windass shows glimpses in games. But those glimpses are just that, Glimpses! His ability to impact a game lasts for about twenty minutes at most.

Miller is one of the few who know what this game is about and can score against them. Although he featured in a few of those "performances" last season against the other side, he certainly wasn't the only player on the pitch.

We can't have passengers in this game. That goes for Rossiter or Pena also, if they are injured or not up to speed.

Windass would be a passenger for about 90% of the time he's on the field.

17 Sep 2017 17:49:24
I would start with morelos and herrera upfront, play the same midfield but swap windass for beerman and the back line where to start tav on right welsh boy left and alves in middle and find a right big strong bugger from the pub who can knock lumps outta everyone and manage to clear the line also. And if anyone knows how to re animate davie cooper then get on with it.

17 Sep 2017 18:22:26
Rossiter is a player I'd agree. But Jack has been one of the most consistent performer this season. He does a lot more than he gets credit for. For example, he pick pocketed the Partick Thisle player to put Morelos in for the opener on Friday.

He's barely had a mention for that goal (albeit it was a fantastic finish) . He's rarely second best to second balls or 50/ 50's. Cracking signing on a free agent. Rossiter definitely does not get in the team before him I'm afraid.

Also, remember he last time we played two CDM's in the same team? Progres happened.

I can't even lie and say I'm optimistic in any shape or form for Saturday. But I'll tell you I'm happy it's Jack opposing Brown on Saturday and not your Halliday's etc.

The result on Friday was not good enough but I feel the players need to take responsibility for that one, Pedro's tactics were fine I think, not much he can do that our players were not brave enough to hold a strong wall. We can't seem to finish teams off when we have our strongest periods of play. I think it's a mentality issue and it needs to be fixed quickly.

17 Sep 2017 18:35:50
thorn76 you want to see pena start!? Based on what? Have you seen something I haven't?

17 Sep 2017 19:40:12
Yes I want to see Pena start. Against Thistle in a league cup quarter final. Not necessarily at the weekend.

The goal he scored against Dundee at Ibrox was well taken.

Sure don't need to point out the obvious but It's also coming up for late September and our most expensive player hasn't started once.

17 Sep 2017 23:14:06
I'd be putting Rossiter and Pena in from the start for Tue game. both are needing as many minutes as possible.

Line up I'd go with for old firm game:

Fod
Tav Fabio Bruno John
Rossiter Jack
Candias Dorrans Miller
Morelos

17 Sep 2017 23:55:57
Clearly the vast majority of fans on here don't know how pesto wants to play. Tab and Cardozo are effective on the right. When tav bombs up, cardoso and candias cover. Who was covering when John was doing the same? Certainly not windass and definitely not alves what about jack, nope. Only person you seen track back was dorrans. Even the buffalo tracked back. Never a good sign. I would try a 4 231 stick hodson in left back. And use tab to exploit the right. Give John a game over windass and Pena over jack. For Celtic I would go for pure defence otherwise we will get pumped

{Ed033's Note - Is your sauce telling you about a pesto rumour?

17 Sep 2017 03:44:45
Just like every other gers fan, I'm was really disappointed with the result last night especially when we had the chance to have three straight wins for the first time under PC and also go into next weeks old firm on a high. I'm not calling for him to be sacked but I just don't think he's the man for us long term.

under him we have received our biggest defeat against Celtic at ibrox in recent history if not ever, lost to Aberdeen at home for the first time in over 20 years, put out of Europe against minnows from Liechtenstein and now recently lost at home to hibs who just came up and drew 0-0 at home to hearts, having 1 shot on target the whole game.

It's just not good enough and add the signings of players Pena, Herrera and Dalcio. I just can't see any real progression and am worried about what might happen against that mob next week.

17 Sep 2017 07:12:52
Graeme I see your concerns my friend and let me tell you, there hasn't been any progression from last season. We might aswell have kept the same players. I honestly think celtic will pump us about 4-0 that seems to be there default amount of goals against diddy teams like us.

17 Sep 2017 08:34:46
He isn't the man for the job and it was one of the most bizarre appointments ever made by the club. He will either be gone by Xmas or in the summer and I think we could witness another clearout this summer. The team are poor with too many weak players.

17 Sep 2017 08:47:56
The reality is that we could not beat the 2nd bottom team. We had 23mins against 10 men to score 2 goals and could only score 1. Same old story of throwing away points when they are there for the taking. Worryingly they scored 2 against us.

As for next week then we only have to live and hope.

17 Sep 2017 10:18:45
is this what is going to happen if we drop points, the doom gloomers come out in force. to say we haven't progressed is nonsense. we have a striker who can score, our top scorer last year was miller with 11. we can get the ball to him so we have improved in that area. we have one of best defence stopping players playing balls into the box but problem is when they get there they score. so the issue isn't our cb but backing them up was balls get into the box. thistle got 9players in the box every time we were on attack. for us a win is a must for them a draw is a win.

17 Sep 2017 15:24:17
We are playing to qualify for the champions league. the money place. Friday night was certainly not good enough when we failed to grasp the opportunity for points.

17 Sep 2017 16:21:05
Give the manager a break he has had to rebuild a complete new team even players in it takes time some transfers work some don't it's the same as any other team look at the players Celtic have signed over last five years, not every one of them have been a success some take longer than others to bed in I remember under Souness players came in and we're back out the door in months but we now have transfer windows so that can't happen we are a better team now than last year but we need two or three more players in key positions.

but again money is short we are not the old Rangers where millions could be spent to stay ahead of the rest we have to be patient sacking the manager would be crazy we've only played six games were three points off the top we have a positive goal difference last season we couldn't score goals we need to tighten up at the back to many silly goals being given away the next transfer window will be important to us we need a left winger Windass does it in spurts but not enough for me a good target man who can win the ball in the air we are not to far off having a good team we still lack that confidence but that will come so I'm optimistic Pedro can get us there but six game isn't enough.

I don't look at this team as the old Rangers we had million pound players in every position and on the bench we are well behind Celtic they have had the last five or six years of Champions league money and only change one or two players every season same as most teams so you always have a core to the team Pedro has had to change a whole team as MW left a lot of poor quality players so let's all calm down and take the rough with the smooth I'll judge him at end of the season we need to finish second

17 Sep 2017 17:51:10
5 points off the top mate and can be 8 if the favourites win what is very likely like your enthusiasm though keep it up

18 Sep 2017 12:12:54
Lots of nonsense on here about lack of progress from last season. Much stronger team alround with Jack and Dorrran in particular light years ahead of Barton and Halliday who occupied same positions last year, and in Miorels at least we have an predator striker with eye for goal. Problem currently is that we are leaking goals and Pedro needs to sort out quickly with Bruno how to organise defence.

18 Sep 2017 20:03:50
Blue will - seriously - Pena over Jack?

17 Sep 2017 03:41:08
First time post .
Would anyone else on here love to see big Clint back in as a player/ coach? I think it would be a smart move after watching the thistle hightlights especially if we lose Bruno's on field experience due to an injury.

17 Sep 2017 07:25:00
No as he is rank rotten and has no real experience coaching. How are we to move forward and be the best again if we are hanging onto journey men. This is a fear I have my kids grow up and say daft things like remember clint hill or barry mckay they were amazing, that would destry my soul. Our best player we have right now is graham dorrans and he is about the only one on that park that cares if we win or lose. The rest just say thing we want to hear or worse they can't say anything cause they don't speak a word of english and don't understand what it means to play for rangers.

17 Sep 2017 08:36:37
Fod

Your being harsh on Hill. Agree he isn't the answer however he wasn't rank rotten and was one of our better defenders last season. Considering his age he did a decent job and always tried his heart out

17 Sep 2017 15:10:40
What planet are you from fodtheprod? Clint hill was superb for rangers last season and by far our best defender! I agree we need to build for the future and not looking back, but your criticism of clint hill is way too much and well off the mark! I certainly wouldn't mind him coming back as our defensive coach! Clint hill is a terrific professional as harry redknapp stated when we signed him! Hill has done it and got the t-shirt! His experience cannot be undervalued imo!

17 Sep 2017 16:26:32
He was a big honest pro and that's it. he was to rash and gave away to many fouls imo. and for saying he was our best defender last year, well that's not saying much

17 Sep 2017 16:31:06
Clint Hill was an honest pro but that's about it. he was to rash and gave away to many fouls imo. and as for saying he was our best defender last year, well that's hardly saying much.
