People moaning about Sone Aluko....remember he'll only be on about 1 or 2k a week. He's no worldbeater but a decent enough player. Can defo do a job against the lower teams so the big guns are rested for the run in. I'd rather have him than Kerkar and other guys who we pay but never play!

Rossco Cyprus Bear

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Wish I was on only 2k a week {Ed001's Note - you make it sound like you are on a lot more and find it too much! If so, I will happily take the excess pay off your hands.....}

Agree1 Disagree0

Shows how far we have fallen. taking players worth about 50000 from aberdeen.
playing headless chickens like naismith and lafferty.
might as well give up

Agree2 Disagree4

Naismith a headless chicken? If headless chickens are top scorer in the SPL then I'm away to the farm on a killing spree!

Agree3 Disagree2

Lol lafferty and naismith headless chickens h aw pal behave yourself and go back to watching cricket.

Team for saturday (my opinion):

McGregor

Whittaker Goian Bocanegra Papac

Davis Bartley Edu McKay

Fleck

Jelavic

Subs

Alexander
Broadfoot
McCulloch
Lafferty
Bedoya
Perry
Hemmings

I understand Wallace is injured and of course Wylde is suspended. Therefore I would go with the usual back 4 (of course the LB changes between two) and the same midfield from the Dundee United game. I think Davo & Whitts link up well on the left, and having big Kyle Bartley in the middle allows Edu more time on the ball, preventing him from panicing! Fleck would play just off Jela in that traditional number 10 role. He needs games to fulfill his undoubted potential, what better chance will he get than with Wylde & Naisy unavailable.

Anyway this is my opinion, any thoughts ed?

C'mon the Rangers!

Steven.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Agree to an extent, though Davis should always play in the center for me. Muzz

Agree1 Disagree0

Why split up Lafferty and Jelavic especially at home. Also keep Broadfoot away from the squad

Agree0 Disagree0

And by link up on the left i assume you mean right?

Agree0 Disagree0

My team would be
McGreggor
whitts Goian, Bocca, Papac
Bedoya, Davis, Bartley, Mckay
Hemmings, Jelavic

subs
Alexander
Fleck
Perry
Edu
McMillan

Agree0 Disagree0

Papac and Bartley injured which may mean either broadfoot coming in at left or right back or Boca moving to left back at Davie weir or Ross Perry coming in. Not sure i'd like to split the centre backs at the mo so my choice ( which is probably unlikely) would be

McGregor
McMillan Goian Bocanegra Whittaker
Bedoya Davis Edu McKay
Lafferty Jelavic

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate. Yes my bad I did mean they link up well on the right.

Was at a rangers legends book signing tonight with Davie Weir and Sandy Jardine at east wood. What a great guy dw is and he is desperate to be playing, am afraid he will want away in January.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Only place he will be going is into a coaching role with Everton....kinda hope Rangers offer him a coaching roll, hes defiantly someone to inspire to which is someone Rangers youth can look upto

Agree3 Disagree2

Remember DW's family are still in Merseyside and he said before that he didn't want to move them so it's kinda obvious he'll prefer a coaching job at Everton. He was a great servant to them as well as us, so i say good luck to the big man

Agree5 Disagree0

Good. give him his bus pass, some werthers originals, a nappy, a tartan blanket and a guide to get him back to liverpool
it was a joke someone at that age being captain of rangrs.

Agree2 Disagree5

Why was it a joke? I would say the joke was on the other defenders in the league. Weir was the best defender in Scotland, since coming to Rangers. He looked after himself and deserved it.xx

Agree2 Disagree1

Dw fantastic servent to rangers, above post f...k off.

Followfollow81 can I nominate my gers players for hall of fame?
Peter McCloy, 7feet 2inches, he took about a week to dive for a low shot, he gave us Celtic fans so much pleasure.
Big Davey Provan, fatter than Referee Tiny Wharton, wee Jimmy Johnstone used to take him for walks all over Ibrox, Hamden and Celtic Park. LOL Timalloy

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I know we all hate people going on about spelling on this site but c'mon its the national stadium !! and timalloy

FauldsRFC outside 'Hamden'

Hey you leave big pistol pete out of it lol? You can nominate anyone you like Timalloy. It's all for a good cause. I liked that one you posted about the Muslim lmao.

nobody like the croatian olic says he wants out of bayern, could striker and have good chemistry with jelavic, potentially will have to take a wage cut.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Great player but probably on about 50k

Agree3 Disagree1

Hopefully take half pay cut and also he would be a goal machine in the spl

Agree0 Disagree0

Surprised nobodys done the he won't sign because his wifes name is Cath Olic joke yet.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ha ha unamed bear, that is better than my jokes. "potentially need to take a wage cut" aye about £40k a WEEK!

Fellow Bears,

Has anyone heard of the apparent "Diouf scandal" in that the paperwork was never completed and that he was more or less an un-registered player?

This is yet another myth from Timothy and I find it feckin hilarious LMAO

TonyTheGer

Believable3 Unbelievable0

More desperate by the day... brilliant!!

Agree2 Disagree0

Utter jobbies - he would never have played as many games without being pulled up about that.

The SFA are stupid but not that stupid but they wouldnt give the gers a little call about this.

ryanrfc

You've gotta love the Celtic fans, they are hilarious

This is the mob who think any season they don't win the league, it's all a big conspiracy... eh no, it's cause your team is Colin Nish

60s/ 70s/ 80s
Kai Johansen, Dave McPherson, John McClelland, Alex Miller, Stuart Munro, Ian Redford.

90s/ 00s/ 10s
Nacho Novo, Arthur Numan, Fernando Ricksen, David Robertson, Trevor Steven, Gary Stevens.

Who would you pick Bears?
Followfollow81

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Mr Symon, Kai Johansen and Arthur Numan

Agree2 Disagree0

Scot symons Kai johanson Arthur numan

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm to young to remember the guys from the 30s/40s/50s but I'd go with Kai Johansen and Arthur Numan

I thought Numan was an excellent left back.....

TonyTheGer

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't recognize any names from the 80s and earlier but I would go for Nacho Novo for the newer ones {Ed003's Note - I'm amazed no Gazza or Hateley ?? not an expert on Gers, but thought they would get a shout }

Agree1 Disagree0

Sasa papac

Agree2 Disagree0

Novo was a crackin wee player but I don't think he done enough to be inducted into the Hall of Fame....

TonyTheGer

Agree1 Disagree1

Hateley and Gascoigne are already in the Hall of Fame Ed {Ed003's Note - lol,I told you I wasnt an expert,but why a choice every year?? every decade maybe?? before you know it the hall is going to be full ;-) *away I toddle off back to the main site reminding myself that's why I avoid the old firm sites* }

Agree0 Disagree0

The Papac has his own Hall of Fame

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree with you TonyTheGer. Arthur Numan was the best left back I've seen in a long time at Rangers solid defender and not to bad bombing down the wing.
Followfollow81

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion Numan was the third best left back in the world at that time just behind Lizarazu and roberto Carlos, it still amazes me that wee dick advocaat persuaded him to join us, in my opinion he was to good for us or the Scottish league in general I loved watching him play, what sickens me most tho is we allowed his contract to run out and didn't offer him another to my knowledge on the same terms, we allowed a great foreign player to retire at 31 years of age, a man whom loved Scotland so much actually continued to live here instead of joining another club.
A great loss to rangers his retirement was, but that's what our reckless spending in that era amounted to, we paid big money for some flops ie flo, konterman, kanchelskis and the true gems we unearthed tugay Numan Reyna etc were released virtually for little or no transfer fee because we could not afford their wages anymore.
We can't make the same mistakes again, I hope our new owner realises this, but reading some of the posts on here a lot of our fans still dream of big name signings, we should never do that again. Only pay big money for true outstanding talent ie jelavic if you're absolutely positive he will shine.

Agree2 Disagree0

They could have at least put sebo in! not a happy ger haha! but Really Novo For Me!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ricksen why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Is barry ferguson in the hall of fame if not he should be nominated because he was one of the best midfielders we had and also played for the shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah "In my opinion Numan was the third best left back in the world at that time just behind Lizarazu and roberto Carlos"

I'll give you Lizarazu, But not Rab C... who played week in week out at the very highest level, (And still does today, and has 94 goals to his name) and along with Cafu redesigned the fullback position.

I like Numan but he was out for a year with a bad injury just after signing and took about a season to get up to speed after that. He is a true Gentleman though

I liked Robertson better, amazing partnership with laudrup and who can forget his Clotheline challange on joe Miller in the league cup semi which got him sent off in something like 7 minutes.

Right midfield is the void left by naismiths injury.
Mccoist has bedoya,or ortiz
Wylde was switching wings 4 scotland u21s so that could be an option.
Edu and mcculloch are both holding midfielders - its either one.
Team v st johnstone?

Mcgregor
Whitts goian bocanegra papac
Bedoya davis mculloch mackay
Lafferty jelavic

If lafferty is not fit hemmings could start.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Bedoya did look alright when he came on against Dundee Utd, i'm afraid I have seen enough of Ortiz, dont like having a go at gers players but I dont think he brings anything to our team. Blue4ever

Thought it was worth a giggle going onto the Tic rumour page and it was. Apparently they are after Jordan Rhodes in Jan for a reported £2m (release clause). It also said that they were close to signing but opted for hooper instead. Any truth in this release clause? as £2m would be a bargain. TheBigMan WATP

with all of these rumours coming in for most of our players there has been no rumours linking our best player (davis) to any clubs.

chiz

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Clubs know he supported the team first ,realised his ambition ,lives his dream and is absolutely happy as he quotes in every interview and so unless pushed or offered crazy money is the least likely to agree a move. Shaun H

Worst case scenario in Jan is we lose Shagger, Davis and Jelavic. For this i'd expect in excess of 20 million. Bring in Johnny Russell, David Templeton and a creative midfielder as Alexander is an adequate replacement for McGregor. I reckon 6 million would just about cover that. Potentially we would have a side such as...

Alexander

Whittaker Goian Bocanegra Papac

Templeton Bartley ????? McKay

Lafferty Russell

With the likes of Perry, McMillan, Ness, Fleck, Bedoya,Hemmings,Edu,McCulloch who could all do a job still there. Throw in Aluko as a squad player and i'd say we're still left in pretty good shape. Fair enough we've obviously lost our 3 best players but we'd have 14 million banked and a right good side left. Thoughts??

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Sell jelavic then we would be aswell selling lafferty cause he's gash without Jela.

Agree4 Disagree0

Rangers will not be spending big- 6 mill is massive- even if we have to sell best assets, very little will be going out. Just accept that that these days are long gone, we will be a much more frugal run club from now on, there is no other option.

Agree0 Disagree0

Then we should get weiss for free

Why are we playing Edu right mid? Anyone else hear a rumour that McCoist is acting as his agent?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Also heard this Rumour.

Heard that an agnecy was set up under the name MaD.

and that the agents are McCoist and Durrant...hence the Agency name.

Agree0 Disagree1

Because he is a100%er every time regardless of position played or asked of him even when its his own fans and not the opposition on his back for 90minutes.For all the titles we have won since i attended games and supported the team none have been more special than those won in thethe past few years when we were supposedly on our knees yet against all the odds we conquered and won and continue to do so. So in my opinion the players who have achieved this should be lauded to the highest.Shaun h

What does everyone reckon for the St Jonstone game, as far as I know Wallace is injured, let me know if I'm wrong, so line-up something like;
McGregor
Whittaker Goian Bocanegra Papac
Edu Davis McCulloch McKay
Jelavic Lafferty

I'm not sure if Laff is fit, not necessarily the team I want to see but one that I think is likely. I would like to see McCulloch dropped and Bedoya start at RM. If Lafferty is fit, I'd start Hemmings, I'd rather see two up front than McKay in behind again.

GovanFR

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I like bartley instead of mcculloch. much more mobile

Agree5 Disagree0

I do not care if it is Edu or Mcculloch that does not play but a place must be found for Bartley.

Stack of posts on twitter today re Brian Laudrup and another cancer scare. There don't seem to be any other sources for this on the web so hopefully it isn't true.

If it is, I'm sure you'll join me in wishing the great man all the best and I'm sure that he'll beat it again.

A true Rangers legend. I was lucky enough to be a season ticket holder as he waltzed his way round many a defence. Never seen anything like it, and I suspect it'll be some time before we see anyone approaching his class in a light blue jersey.

Surprised there hasn't been more talk of the South Korean guy on here. He looks decent on youtube, a Paul Scholes type player. Ball glued to his feet!

Unlike Maurice Edu!

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Strange one indeed. However the boy's agent said that they have had 4 offers but Rangers have not officially been in touch so unlikely we will see him.

bluegenius

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree1 Disagree0

League titles he has ? Last time I checked it was called rangers football club not Maurice edu football club ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Maurice Edu is not an attacking midfielder, he breaks play up, he actually has a really good shot on him. We miss him when he isn't playing, try supporting him rather than getting on his back.

Agree8 Disagree0

I can't see the Gers signing this Korean chappie. His club only want a sale not a loan deal and their asking will prob be in the region of 1.5m - 2m which, by the looks of things, Rangers won't be willing to pay....

wee question ppl. IF, we loose the tax case what would ppl prefer. 10 points off this season or 10 off next year starting with -10. im not sure, wouldnt like to be deducted 10 this season and undo all the hard work done by the team this season . but do you think we could emulate this seasons progress next year and catch up by xmas (or sooner) and be back in the running ?. do you think the tax case being moved to jan is better or worse, if jan comes and were 15+ clear do you think it would be easier to take the hit and still be +5 is that a possibility ? cheers./biggles

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Either way would we not be banned from the champions league, is that not the main reason for winning the league? {Ed014's Note - You can not compete in a European competition if you are in administration.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the title is more important year in year out its just the money that comes with europe, we dont exactly take the champions league by storm do we lol i think the next 2 years stability with the finances and concentrate on the domestic trophies first and foremost then anything other than that is a bonus

Agree0 Disagree0

Comming from a tic fan I want it to be this season & not next lol but tbh it would be the biggest kick in the nuts if it happened this year & rangers lost the league because of it.

I don't think the taxcase is the problem, I think whyte & his wealth are. 'rumour'is he's not got the money to run rangers but he says his record speaks for it self? Well if that's the case why not do a programme on stv or that stating his wealth & putting the doubters out of there mind? It questions again the old board ring fencing the money too ?

I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls the admin card a day or 2 before the court makes a answer. If rangers do walk away scot free from it he said in stv he would pay the reminder of the 18m off & make rangers tick Free, let's see if that happens too eh ?

Anyway in all seriousness If rangers go into admin (part of me wants it to happen other half not lol) it just shows how bad things really are club wise up here, rangers, hearts & Dunfermline are all up the creek without a paddle sad times for Scottish football & if this just the start of it then surely the spl is a ticking time bomb ?

Lenny

Agree1 Disagree0

Perhaps we should start taking the europian leagues more seriously. i agree the domestic is important but scottish football is at an all time low. we need to sell the game to the world. what better way than progressing through europe.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's the only way that bottle job of a team yours Will win the league
