Positive performance from Patterson tonight but under no false illusions as he was against a part time team and allowed a lot of space. Young Kennedy looked hungry and a was gutted when he wasn't played through at the death from Barker's pass. The likes of Ojo and Barker have shown their level tonight and times up for me I'm afraid. Jones gets another life considering the amount of time he's had out but i'm yet to be convinced from any of his performances yet. Hopefully now that these young lads have had a taste of Ibrox it pushes them on and we start seeing their names in the squad more often and that rubs off on the rest of the youth. For the first time in a long time we have a team of assets that will not be here forever and these boys are hopefully our future, not to mention the veterans who although are brilliant, will run out of legs sooner rather than later.

Kind of wanted Kennedy to get longer on the park
I thought Barker was horrific and I’m baffled at how he’s at our club
Ojo and Jones didn’t take chances either

Good to get the win and some minutes into the fringe players.

Jones and Barker both honking. Jamie Murphy is far better than either. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a good six months on loan and comes back into the squad while they get punted.

The teams not played a competitive game in almost 3 weeks. Jordan Jones been out for months injured and still some give him pelters. Have a word with yourselves .

It’s a squad game no team has a squad of world beaters if we replaced jones and barker now are we buying to go straight into first team or are we buying to replace two in squad? If you’re getting guys in that are happy to come in as bench warmers, do we want them? Or if they go straight into first 11 who are you dropping?
Stranraer came to frustrate just as we did years ago to Barcelona when messi said we played anti football
Some on here need to look at the bigger picture we’re in next round, it’s another win at home, it’s another clean sheet, we look like we’re producing at youth level and we got 38000 at the game what’s not to like?

Safe to say

We now know why gerrard keeps to the same players as the ones coming in tonight to get a chance have been rotten

Struggling against Stranraer is not good enough don't care how many guys behind the ball we should be doing them over at least 4 or 5 goals

The young guys showing some of them up to be honest

Some of them out there like jones and Halliday making the game look like a slog
Aribo not his best tonight either

Stupid comment but maybe Murphy and docherty should have been kept

Barker jones tonight rubbish

Pffft some people on here need to open there eyes to this crap
We're going to have a hard run in to the end of the season and this tonight not good enough can't be relying on these fringe players to come in and keep our challenge going NOT A CHANCE

Maybe a work out game but still not good enough for me.

As always your 100% correct struggled for the whole game against (no offence) stranraer! 30 odd shots off target 10 on target erm stranraer had 0 shots at all! but yes that's rangers in trouble now for the rest of the season! Shakin in my boots! Get a grip!

And if I could I would be looking for some signings this month and off loading guys mentioned as there no where good enough for Rangers football club

And don’t get me wrong I hope to god I’m sitting here come end of season and il be the first to come on and hold my hand up if those players mentioned, if and when called upon step out to the plate and do indeed deliver us the title

I for one care about how we play but most importantly care for the result. Yes we only scored 2 but jeezo get a grip we are into next round, this wasn't about displacing our first team regulars but ensuring we have those available for the remaining important run in games we need them for. Like, dislike, hate. I know everyone has an opinion and Gerrard has the most important opinion but hey another round, cup to compete in mon the teddy bears let's get a double and quarter final of europa league this season.

This tonight just highlighted we need some more quality in. The fringe players aren’t good enough. We have maybe 14 or 15 players we can rely on, that number needs to be 18 or 19.

Think someone was on the shandy last night. Our first game back after a break, it was a poor performance but easy win. Positives though, we won at a canter, Paterson looks a player.

Agree mrgrumpy, the young lad is in my opinion, the best prospect I've seen for years. As regards the 'Q' posed, 'would we have beaten the likes of Aberdeen playing like that', we wouldn't have played that team for a start, and with a full team out, yes, I'd be confident of beating any team in Scotland.

Jones and Barker are very poor to be honest. Against Stranraer these guys should be committing defendets by taking them on. Bothbseemed happy to control the ball and play a five yard pass backwards or sideways. Gerrard said a week or so ago that some players when given their chance seem to end up further away from getting in the team and both Jones and Barker will find themselves in that pisitiin after tonight. A win is a win and we progress to the next round but not great tonight.

Def a striker what happens if Morelos or Defoe get injured we are left with one striker look at tonight only Defoe as a recognised striker that is poor for a club our size god we have four CBs but only two strikers and one of them is 38.

Dont think saw jones touch the ball till 40th min. extremely poor. Paterson been our best player. Very positive and has a great final ball. Test will b in league games see how the lad defends.

Jones does way better against teams who come out and attack, he needs space to run into as he can struggle against teams who sit in.

Coming back from injury or not JJ is definitely not taking his chance here. He should be running them ragged but he always looks to play the ball back. he's been very poor.

See Sunderland have tabled a loan offer for Murphy as well as docherty

Thinking on it if both them went and helped Sunderland get promotion would add good value on to them especially docherty
Could end up being signed by Sunderland and moving up with them to the premiership

If that did happen I hope we would get a few bucks for them both

Was sad to hear gerrard say there will be no signings this month really hoped we would have added a striker

I agree with you Thestingo1, we've already got Tavernier out for 2 to 3 weeks, and a busy schedule coming up with the Europa League. Do the rest of you guys feel we have adequate cover in some positions, Striker e. g., and Right Full Back. I trust Steven with how he's handling the squad, but initially he spoke about possibly getting a couple in to increase the squad quality, time will tell.

I don't think we need to sign anyone this window unless anyone considered more than just a squad player is sold. I know Celtic are signing players but we just need to worry about ourselves. Sometimes a settled squad and a bit of continuity is better than bringing new faces in.

But on serious note yes we have a big squad and cover for. The 1st team but these guys have barely kicked a ball so gerrard obviously does not rate them or trust them to do a job most of the players on side barely make bench and barely get substituted on when they are on the bench and that’s my main worry
Any injury ban etc to a main player going to be worry
I’m sorry but the first time in how long have we now had the league in our own hands with this game in hand would put us top and we need to win every game some people say points will be dropped by both sides we ace already seen a Celtic team go through the season beating every other team with possibly only us now going to take points off them
Don’t think this is a time to stop we have to make couple signings this window to help improve our chances

Imagine end of season we had Morelos our injured no way is Defoe or Stewart going to give us his goal ratio from now to end of season
Don’t care how many goals we leak as long as we’re scoring more and winning that’s all that counts for me
Just my opinion but I definitely don’t want to be here end of season looking at us dropped stupid points when we have this chance to bring in one or two to keep us on top and pushing it the whole way
We have a big fixture list ahead now European football etc players are goi g to get tired and will need subs on the bench who can come and make a difference and we need players to come in at times of injury fatigue and bans etc

Definitely don’t want to be end of season and they have won it again and we will be on here saying well next season it’s there to be won this year and I think it’s our year
So if we don’t sign anyone this window fingers crossed we don’t come a cropper.
