It is now very worrying that the Greg Stewart signing story will not go away. IMHO he is a second rate journeyman who must be flattered by the ongoing pursuance by RFC.

SG must tell Allen that it is not on = or Allen must tell SG, whichever.

I agree cato, not what we need👍.

Would much rather we sign young jake hastie, as opposed to signing greg stewart. Hastie is by far the better option, in every sense. He's younger,
with loads of potential, faster and scores more goals than stewart. I think we should sign hastie on a 4 year contract and loan him back to motherwell on a 6 month to season long loan deal. I personally don't want us to sign greg stewart but i do want us to sign jake hastie who with further development, will go on IMO, to be a very good player for rangers.

Supercooper

No point in buying him then loaning him back to Motherwell? Guy is doing well at SPFL level already so why loan him back?

18 Apr 2019 07:10:23
I'll be honest signing stewart doesn't really excite me much but SG and Allen must see something in the lad. Hastie looks like he's got lots of potential, just the kind of player we should be going for. The same could be said for the boy, Souttar.

We sign him just now to make sure we get him, as several english clubs like crystal palace, derby county etc are very keen on signing him. He will break into our first team but not immediately, so why not sign him and loan him back to motherwell, where he'll continue playing in the scottish premiership. Its a win win for everyone, in my eyes anyway Arthur D!

@bankie, rangers news now has an article where it shows a video of middleton's two goals against celtic. His 2nd goal is a great turn and finish inside the box, hopefully he has gained more composure for the first team👍.

I said on here last year that Ajax should be our inspiration. A big club in a dead end league with no money. As soon as they produce a good player he's taken from them yet they're able to regroup quickly. Obviously they have one of the most famous academies in the world but we should be looking to follow their model. It is our best way to make money by producing and selling on and repeating. Our youth teams are taking steps in the right direction so i hope we can start bringing some of them through and developing them properly.

17 Apr 2019 16:11:48
Well said. I didn't think Ajax would pull it off last night but they did and could go all the way. I'm enjoying the current Rangers line up, two 3 nils and not worrying about playing with 10 men. I get Morelos wanting to play in the EPL and good luck to him but he doesn't get Rangers and letting down his team mates and management is only part of the equation. A million fans around the world is the reality and we're left as life long fans after he's gone. I hope Gerrard understands what a lot of us feel. There are no silly excuses left.

Good shout boli-poly. 👍.

17 Apr 2019 16:35:53
Main difference bis Ajax sell their top players for +£50M which then gives them enough backing to go and buy the best players in Holland or really anywhere they scout. We would be lucky to sell our top players for £10M which not even get you McKenna, so we would have to start at square one again.

17 Apr 2019 19:03:40
Our youth set up is paramount to our future. The board know this, you can already see the improvement in our youth set up👍.

17 Apr 2019 19:27:49
my concern is that another young Gilmour happens and gets released due to current employment laws for a development fee. how do we keep them from leaving at 15 before signing professional contract.

17 Apr 2019 19:45:15
By ensuring our youth have the structure in place to make the grade in a successful first team geesadodothat👍.

17 Apr 2019 21:29:06
I'm not expecting us to start getting 50m for players but even a couple of 4-5m sales a season would go a long way. Coldo is right in that we need to ensure there is an incentive for young players to stay here and not have their heads turned as soon as an English team looks at them. The better we are at bringing through youngsters the better calibre the academy would attract.

17 Apr 2019 22:50:03
Correct boli 👍.

18 Apr 2019 10:42:57
I think comparison with Ajax and Dutch league precarious. Dutch football player sourcing is immense from ground up. Scottish is sourcing 6 a season at best. However Rangers sourcing at most working wonderfully. We have 10 boys more than ready for 1st team chance. Our independence in this matter shining.

I am my own man - SC11 has his own eggs to fry. But he is a good man - maybe we should have a poll to see how many think he is a good man?
