What's everyone's thoughts on Ally's 100 games in charge? Personally, looking over his tenure, I would give him pass marks on 2 games out of 100.
The two Celtic games at Ibrox stand out for me, the rest have ranged from the mundane to the totally un-watchable.
Yes he's faced administration ( personally think it saved his job) and other sanctions, but surely a system of play or a structure that players could play in should be showing through, but on Saturdays evidence against Arbroath, it was the usual high ball hopefully punted up to the strikers and hope for the best. This gives away possession 70% of the time and against a better team we would have been punished. It was no surprise Arbroath scored first and like a lot of so called ' part time teams" they passed us off the park. We are crying out for a football coach. We should be like the 'Barcelona" of the lower divisions. Why not bring in someone like Kenny Shiels / Billy Reid in a supporting role as I don't think Durrant / mcDowall are the answer.
Hes won 6 in a row scoring 25 goals concended 2 goals 6 pass marks right there hopefully 7 against qos whether you want him to be manager or not he is so why slate him when were playing well and going to improve as the new players adjust
I agree OP. I think probably correctly the current regime felt the Bears would not accept McCoist being sacked and kept him on as the majority of fans still support him. Bill Miller identified a huge gap between what we bring in and what we outlay. In financial terms we probably needed a coach who could work with and nurture young talent which could then be sold on at a profit as we need to be a selling club with our running costs. In reality we are in a minority and most bears support Ally and feel he will come good. I am sure we all hope they are correct as long as we can survive the financial challenges with expenditure running so far ahead of income
2 games out of a hundred? So not Motherwell home in LG cup last season? Not 7 nil v alloa? Not the unbeaten start up til mid November 2011-12? Some decent results in that run. I get it you don't rate him but be fair at least.
Dunno what game you were watching but Arbroath certainly did not pass us of the park. They tried the angled uigh ball into the box repeatedly for the first hour, it'd didn't work, we changed it up n won 5-1. We have easily won all league games and only conceded two goals that were good goals.
@3, there are a lot worse losses then wins. For beating part timers is nothing special and losing out in all tournaments show you he is no manager but keep him on to hold onto what's left of the old rangers is what it is for for most fans
@3 he wasn't unbeaten until mid November he lost the 2 most important games in CL and Europa league costing the club millions.
And don't forget about the 15 point lead giving up in a quick amount of time and all before the troubles of admin and liq
@5 yes there were some horrendous results. No one is denying this. But if you read the post correctly it says at least be fair. The op clearly states he feels only 2 out of a hundred were good results. Total garbage. And I was talking about theleague results of that season. I imagine you are one of those who is deluded enough to think rangers should beat every team we play 5 nil and more in any comp. Which team in any league in the world does that? Like I say. Constructively criticise by all means but at least be fair.
@6 he didn't lose those games the players did he only picked the team and those teams he picked were good enough to win those matches so blame the players not the manager us as fans need to stop living in the past it's the players that lose games not managers also @5 there is no old rangers so what are you talking about 1873 rangers 2013 rangers still the same club check the history 140 years of unbroken history oh and I almost forgot the most successful club in the world
So ally mccoist personally cost rangers millions did he because of euro ties that summer. Got to love your theory. He picked a team which happened to lose. Just like Walter smith did in kaunas 08. As did Lennon in braga /Utrecht in 10. As did smith numerous times first time around. It happens. Wasn't the first won't be the last.
Original poster. As this is a site where all are welcome to post we must accept others opinions even when they lack logic, fact or proper research. People like yourself with little football brain or understanding can have their say even though there is little merit associated with your thoughts. It is only in the last five weeks we have seen Ally's team perform on a level playing field without other distractions such as, threats of administration, loss of full team of players, no pre season's, transfer embargoes, SPL & SFA bias, fines etc. To name just a few. To hear you have such a low opinion of such men as Ally and the person who is responsible for the performances and production of the most title winning sides at both Celtic & Rangers over the last 15 years (K Mc Dowall) says more about your inept knowledge of the game in Scotland, than it does about your subject matter, but at least it excuses your poor judgement.

I think the point was that, given the financial disaster that Whyte inherited, and the fact he obviously had no way of investing in the club (easy to see in hindsight as always) - The impact of the two losses was catastrophic.
The finances were totally dependant on a European run to get to the seasons end. It was the lack of revenue that ultimately forced Whyte to stop paying taxes and divert funds in an attempt to make it to May.
McCoist had at his disposal the full squad, expensively aquired during the Smith years and still including the core of the Manchester team.
Marribor and Malmo should have been swept aside
Failure led to administration within six months and the ultimate ruin of the club/company.
I would suggest that this hangs heavy on his shoulders - not to mention his CV
In Ally we trust, a true blue through and through.

People seem to forget that the manager can go from hero to zero within a week. If a team wins a game/cup then the manager gets the praise if they lose the manager is the fall guy, goes for every club.
McCoist is hopeless, he's buying full time players to play in a part time league. They 'should' win every game but that's never going to be the case. They should however be giving teams in higher leagues a run for there money.
Since McCoist has been in the hot seat he has been shocking. The guy has next to no ability to change a game (bar at the weekend from reading posts about it). Lost the league to Celtic Europe run that was put to bed before it started. Last season out of all the cups at the first/second hurdle. As much as green is a tool he is right, unless McCoist wins the league & a cup then his job should be reviewed at the end of the year.

@10 he lost back to back euro ties against terrible teams, he did cost us millions.
Anyone with any sense knew rangers were going into admin months before they did, in normal circumstances ally would've seen Lennon out a job that season, the threat of admin affected the rangers dressing room.
@ 14 he's buying full time players really also rangers are full time club in a part time league so obviously the players would be hired on full time contracts also at the end of the day mccoist picked the best team he had at his disposal in all comps all he could have done so all of the blame should land on the players shoulders but it doesn't work like that in football
N16 exactly mate you beat me too it
