16 May 2016 22:07:46
I'm afraid to say just like a good few bears think now that we won't be signing joey barton, heard his partner doesn't fancy coming up here and laying down roots, also hearing barton only spoke to rangers out of respect for frank mcparland and really wants to stay down in england and sign for a decent english club, with the media exposure barton received by talking to rangers he's now hoping for a lot of clubs down south to take a big interest in signing him, we'll just have to move on to try and sign our other targets.

16 May 2016 23:14:39
I've heard the same w15 mate that he just doesn't fancy it.

16 May 2016 23:32:04
If this is true Warbs I wouldn't be too bothered. Yes Barton is a good player but he's also a Ratbag of a human being and not the type of guy we need disrupting the team. Not only that the press, the sporting integrity and moral high ground brigade and the football authorities will scrutinise his every move and he will end up serving more bans than any other player in Scottish football history. Rant over.

17 May 2016 00:22:16
Still a rumour, fingers crossed lads, until he signs a contract with another club the deal could still go through, there was a lot of doubt over the rossiter deal and look what happened,

17 May 2016 11:45:38
Maybe we are just saying we are going to sign this person and that person so Celtic beat us to it and fill their stadium with them.

17 May 2016 11:48:11
The seeker, the guys grew up, and if the english press havve had nowt to say about him the past two years he must have calmed down,

17 May 2016 13:25:22
I don't know bigjohn. A leopard and its spots come to mind. I'll give you an example: I met a guy the other day I hadn't seen since my school days more than 40 years ago. I remember him as an arse then. Guess what? He's still an arse.

17 May 2016 16:32:41
The seeker brilliant mate brill, lol.

16 May 2016 18:39:10
Tbh I think Cummings is a good player but a lot of baggage comes with him. Not in the MW mould. Dorrans? Not totally convinced he's what we need either. I think Mr Barton is exactly what we need some steel and leadership in the midfield. However I am not the manager and MW hasn't made a poor signing yet so on Warburton we trust.

16 May 2016 23:33:46
Sebo you think Cummings comes with baggage yet Barton is exactly what we need? Tbh I wouldn't entertain either of them.

16 May 2016 23:41:39
I agree, Norwich fans were glad when Dorrans was released, he's been awful the last couple of years, can only pass the ball sideways.

I think we could do much better.

If we got the Dorrans of old, I'd be happy, but he's been totally atrocious these last 2-3 years.

17 May 2016 10:55:22
But dorrans hasn't been released, and norwich want to keep him so he obviously hasn't been that bad.

16 May 2016 20:44:14
goo.gl/IJujPL

Saw the arteta one earlier, just wanted to put this out. What one out of they 3? Has to be raul maralies for me.

16 May 2016 21:51:44
Back to non rumour posts, can't wait for the game, can't come quick enough let's finally put the last nail in hibs coffin and keep bouncing on.

16 May 2016 21:43:45
Ok so I have been racking my brain trying to think who would be the ideal (Davie Weir type) experienced centre back to lead us through next season. An older head, solid and top level.
Someone who won't need to play all games as you want both Kiernan and Wilson to develop. Someone who could lead us from the back.
I know he's old at 38 but I would take a look at Sylvian Distin!

16 May 2016 22:03:08
not a chance.

16 May 2016 23:09:23
More chance of Sylvian from Strictly I think!

17 May 2016 13:48:22
Wilson is all the player he'll ever/ never be. No development there, never wanted him in the first place. I heard Brede Hangeland will sign next week.

16 May 2016 18:28:37
Im not against having two maybe three big (ish) earners in the team so long as they are quality and their experience helps develop the younger players. The players that we have had discussions with certainly fall into that category for me and i'm hoping we get them.

16 May 2016 19:59:52
I am starting to doubt Barton now. I think he may have used us to try and get the 2 year deal with Burnley. As he said he will make his decision this week. If it does we move onto next target. Manager always states we want players who want to play for Rangers.

16 May 2016 20:50:46
Personally I don't want Barton at Ibrox.

Let's face it, he makes Scott Brown look like a gentleman.

Saying that, Warbs does really seem to want him according to Richard Wilson and I do think he would do a good job on the field.

16 May 2016 23:38:03
Don't want him anywhere near the club either Naz, good player that he undoubtedly is.

16 May 2016 16:24:14
Pictures in the scotsman of what might be the new kits for next season . away kit and third kit looks quite smart 3rd kit similair to red n white chequered 1 we had when durie n gazza played . don't know how to post pics on this site to put pics up.

16 May 2016 16:43:41
still won't buy them untill fat Ashley goes or gives us a better deal doesn't make sense surely he would make more money if he gave us fans what we want then we will go back in huge numbers buying all the strips and i thought he was supposed to be a smart business man.

16 May 2016 17:39:58
Im sure Mike Ashley still makes money from the contract deal whether we buy strips or not, i think last year at some point it was the case of, if Ashley didn't get a certain percentage of strips sold, we (Rangers) need to make up the rest, can't wait til those contracts are ripped up man.

16 May 2016 17:52:36
James stirling i wouldn't buy one until we get rid of ashley completly due to his greed up to this point, plus i think this 7 year blackmail stint will come to an eend shorly.

16 May 2016 20:24:31
i won't be buying anything until were rid of him either.

17 May 2016 09:48:20
I've bought nothing from SD/ MA since the details of the contract were announced, probably even before they were. It smells to the high heavens. Mind you, looking back, I thought that the JJB deal was suss, but oh I long for the days when I/ We all, bought our shirts, scarves etc. from the Club store to come back again. For the Club. RFC in house.

16 May 2016 16:06:13
hoping barton isn't using us to get a better deal at burnley----hes 33 and over the hill in the premier so hopefully he can start enjoying the twilight years with our club which would end up being the best years of his career. just ask Kenny how it feels.

16 May 2016 16:44:45
plus gets his chance to show what he is made of in Europe can't get a better deal anywhere for him hope he makes the smart move.

16 May 2016 15:42:52
It's dragging out a bit, hopefully maybe on Thursday the Barton signing will be announced, it usuallyIs a Thursday and that will set us up for the Cip Final.

16 May 2016 17:01:50
End of the week his decision will be made

16 May 2016 17:55:18
Joscro i think barton is waiting to see if we will play in euro before making his dissiion.

16 May 2016 15:28:16
starting 11 for Saturday guys? what's your team?

16 May 2016 15:43:09
Mckay, Miller, Waghorn

Holt, Halliday, Shiels

Wallace, Wilson, Kiernan, Tavernier

Foderingham

That team will start no doubt.

16 May 2016 15:54:44
a wee bold starter thrown in ;)

Miller
McKay Waghorn

Burt

Holt Halliday

Wallace Tavernier

Wilson Kiernan

Foderingham.

16 May 2016 15:57:13
is dominic ball not still with us untill after the cup final.

16 May 2016 16:06:44
I would put Ball i'm instead of Sheils.

16 May 2016 16:09:24
Ball can't play he's suspended.

16 May 2016 16:16:44
Gedion will play before shiels I would think.

16 May 2016 17:03:31
It will be interesting to see how many are on the bench as I doubt we will be able to fill it.

16 May 2016 17:44:24
Fodringham

Tav - Kiernan - Wilson - Waldo

Zelalem - Halliday - Holt

Waggy - Miller - McKay

That would be my choice, Zelalem may be a bit of a contentious choice but he proved he can handle pressure when we beat Celtic and how cool he was with the penalty and personally, I'd prefer him over Law or Shiels.

16 May 2016 19:14:26
doc1856 a like the thought of wee Burt getting a run oot from the start.

17 May 2016 09:23:18
Hit them with surprise ;)

16 May 2016 15:17:56
Arteta retired yesterday.

16 May 2016 14:16:30
I know he has struggled at west brom but just seen victor anichebe is leaving west brom,28 years old. anyone think he would do a job up here for us?

16 May 2016 15:02:10
It wouldn't be the worst signing and may kickstart his career again.

16 May 2016 15:19:34
i think he would demand too high a wage to be honest but could be good for rangers if it where ever to happen has there been any talk form anywhere about it.

16 May 2016 16:17:26
He doesn't get many goals I would pass on that.

16 May 2016 13:04:54
Will start by saying I fully trust Warburtons judgement on any potential signings, his track record so far for us has been great and he spends lots of time picking the right characters aswell as ability of players.
Not sure if it's paper talk but since the capture of Rossiter (massive potential) we have been linked with Pringle, Pritchard, Dorrans, Kranjcar, Barton, Cummings, Graham, Hanley, Ball, Volks, Winks and many more. Personally Cummings would be my favourite addition.
I'm sure there's plenty going on behind the scenes but I would like to get a good Centre Half in sooner rather than later, must admit it's 1st time in about 10 transfer windows that I've been as excited! 🏆🏆🏆.

16 May 2016 13:41:11
I agree with all that except Cummings I thing he is overated and would struggle in the spl however if we get him i hope he makes me eat my words lol.

16 May 2016 13:49:58
This was Warburtons first full season at the club and this will be his first season in the top flight.

This is one of the most important transfer windows in the past 10 years. Every window is important but if we are to realise our ambitions we must take into account that our squad needs serious additions and improvements in a few areas. The squad is very tight just now.
But the optimism is great. Especially after last season's signings.

Foderingham better than Bell - YES
Wilson better than McGregor - YES
Keirnan better than McGregor - YES
Tavernier better than Foster - YES
Halliday better than Black - YES
Holt better than Black - YES
Waghorn better than Daly - YES

Been a great season and a great transfer window will produce an unforgettable season ahead for our club. It's great to be a Rangers fan.

16 May 2016 14:02:59
i agree with you that all tghose players are better than their predecessors however coming up to the spl don't you think we need better in the cb's position as we have shipped way too many goals and in my opinion Wilson especially could have done a lot better this season.

16 May 2016 15:18:12
Totally agree about the CB position. I think all fans can be assured at least one if not two more CB will come in on top of Crooks.

I would say though that I have to agree with what's been said on here before. The way we play under Warburton, you could have Pique and Terry at the back and we would still concede a fair few in a season.

But just because we haven't been linked with anyone to replace Keirnan and/ or Wilson doesn't mean nothing's happening.

Definitely not any Scottish based defenders though. Been linked with Vaulks. Just think he's more of a Hearts or Aberdeen level player if I'm honest. Same with McGhee at Hearts. Wouldn't really be the step up we're looking for.

Warburton knows what he's doing though. We're sure of that.

16 May 2016 08:35:33
Il be the first to admit, I didn't think we'd be strong enough to challange for title next season straight away but with these signings and the pull that warbs has it seems more and more likely everyday.

16 May 2016 13:48:11
Totally agree, there is no 2nd place, only losers!

16 May 2016 12:10:54
Reading about Goodwillie there. Seems he won't be going back to the sheep when his loan deal is up. Career has most definitely stalled if not gone into free fall.
Tpye of player MW and DW could get the most out of no doubt but is he good enough?
Thoughts anyone?

16 May 2016 12:18:44
I would think not, had it been a few years ago think MW and DW would have turned him into a star but don't think we could afford the patience of trying to get this guy back to his best. Had this been 1 year ago and a run in the championship then maybe, but not now. Need someone to hit the ground scoring.

16 May 2016 12:29:49
Depends, if he can get back to the form of a few years ago, I'd take him as a squad player, otherwise it would be a no from me.

It's a gamble for sure.

16 May 2016 12:39:07
No Way.

16 May 2016 12:50:56
Don't want goodwillie, he's not good enough.

16 May 2016 12:56:44
Fair do's lads. I was sort of erring to that opinion myself. Might just be a bit late in his case. Shame though as I think there was a talented footballer in there at a time. Kinda a bit like Scott Allan, another half descent talent that is wasting his career.

16 May 2016 13:03:47
I always rated him, but whether that talent could be brought back to our advantage is another thing. Maybe he could train with us and play in a couple of closed door friendlies to enable MW and DW to assess.

16 May 2016 14:01:48
Too much baggage. Cumming's has baggage but is scoring 20+ goals a season, a lot of them against us. I don't want either but if I had to take one it would be Cumming's.
I think judging by the level of player we have been linked with so far MW could surprise us all and pull a Striker and CB of real quality out the bag, far above the two mentioned above.

16 May 2016 15:23:37
hopefully your right recbob i honestly think if we secure barton and kranjcar then all we need is a better quality striker than Cummings as he has only done so well in the championship i don't think he could do that in the spl . and a real cb with a bit of pace about him as the ones we have are just not quick enough to chase anyone back.

16 May 2016 11:45:22
One of the drawbacks of signing great but young talent is the fact that they need an experienced head ON the field for instant guidance. I can see value in an older signing even if this goes against the principle of "added value" to the club.

16 May 2016 13:46:00
think that's why we are going for barton and kranjcar two invaluable players with tons of top quality experience . but thin we need another in the shape of a cb and get danny Wilson fighting to keep his place as he has been awful this season for me.

16 May 2016 11:34:31
so if we get barton and kranjcar
u would imagine we won't be seeing
much of halliday and holt in the big games next season.

16 May 2016 12:33:23
More likely holt than halliday.

16 May 2016 13:47:19
mw is a manager who likes to keep his whole squad happy i think he will be rotating a lot of the players next season.

16 May 2016 11:19:59
The longer the Barton deal strings out, the more I feel he is trying to put his self in the shop window for other clubs, thoughts guys?

16 May 2016 11:30:24
If he doesn't join us no biggy i'm sure the gaffer has other options.

16 May 2016 12:08:47
I agree Davido. I don't like the fact that it's taken this long and not been announced.
He is obviously weighing up his options or holding out for a better offer from Burnley.

16 May 2016 13:49:13
i hope we win on sat and that's sways him in our direction think if we have European football next season then he will jump at the chance to play for the mighty rangers.

16 May 2016 14:08:56
think he is trying to put pressure on Burnley to offer him more than a 1 yr deal, but hope i am wrong and we get him.

16 May 2016 10:31:26
Anybody think this is a massive make or break season for young hardie he needs to kick on this season and i hope he gets a fair crack at the 1st team this season . i think the boy has massive potential.

16 May 2016 11:40:28
I actually think hardie will go out on loan for one more time then he will come back and try to make the first team, but mark warbs might think he's ready this year, so u may be right mate.

16 May 2016 08:15:34
I see the Daily Record is reporting today that Warburton has t with ex-Spurs player Niko Kranjcar. Any thoughts Bears? Isn't there a danger with some of the names Gers are being linked with (e. g. Barton) that the wage bill will start rising again?

16 May 2016 08:45:02
Thats what i was thinking mate, even if we get into europe the money there isn't that brilliant, just hoping we are fully focused on doing things the right way, plus I've got to admit i think wages could be better spent although he's an alright player, saying that if there's no transfer fee i suppose it would free up that money.

16 May 2016 08:49:48
Well we have went up a league we will be getting more money so we should have a bigger wage budget.

16 May 2016 09:01:17
Would expect at least the same amount of season tickets to be purchased as well and with the 20% rise there will be plenty of cash from sales. Big issue however is the shirt deal hopefully that can get sorted and we can start making some decent money from that.

16 May 2016 09:21:04
Think you will find that the wage bill will be kept within budget.
Lets not forget that all these names that are being touted won't be sgned.
Warbs stated previously he had a number of targets and if he couldn't get one he would move on. That to me means he won't be signing A B and C but it will be A or B or C.

16 May 2016 09:30:41
Can I just point out that Barton isn't on a massive wage at Burnley. Burnley have a wage structure in place which barton bought into. he liked it, he said he made bad decisions before due to wages and thought he had to make the right career choice by going to burnley. Burnley have a 15k wage cap. I reckon he'd be happy to sign for us for 10k a week. the same as what Rossiter is on.

16 May 2016 10:38:22
The boys leaving us were on fortunes, they will free up a lot of wages. We are not a championship team anymore, we are a team who sells out 52,000 every second week and are going to be challenging for a title, these targets simply reflect that. The green half of the city will be terrified, they believed the hype and thought we were finished only signing players from Accrington.

16 May 2016 11:06:34
if you look at the kind of players we are going for none of them are costing huge amounts of money most are out of contract players so we can afford to pay their wages in saying that though I don't think any of these players that we have bben linked to are on massive amounts just now barton 33 years old won't b looking for a lot kranjcar is 31 and might be persuaded to take a wage cut although I think he will refuse a move to the spl.

16 May 2016 08:27:32
there is no chance of the budget that warburton has at his disposal will put the club in any danger king and company will make sure of that but we do need experienced players for next season fair play to warburton he appears to leave no stone unturned.

16 May 2016 13:55:19
Recbob/ Largebill your bang on, no way will these transfers be allowed to put our club in jeopardy, if Warbs is moving on these guys its because the transfer strategy has been well thought out! unlike our neighbours who seem to be just going after anyone that becomes available! hence their ridiculously overbloated playing squad.

16 May 2016 01:11:47
MW has always stressed the whole squad will be used, and is clearly keen on rotation. Therefore I'm not bothered by the influx of midfielders this summer. Halliday, Holt, Rossiter, Crooks and Windass, with potentially Barton and Dorrans to follow. Along with Jordan Thompson pushing for more appearances that would make one heck of a pool to choose from every week.

16 May 2016 09:02:23
Saw that Thompson played some of the Spurs game I take it he is eligible to be on the bench Saturday.

16 May 2016 10:42:18
He will rotate the squad a lot more this year, he would have done so this year had the squad been stronger. Now we are replacing the deadwood with real quality its shaping up nicely. MW is one clever man, signing a great level of player for the championship last year and left everyone believing that would be the extent of our targets. Then sucker punching them all with some real quality.

16 May 2016 10:43:54
biffo why would he be eligible he was loaned out for the rest of the season just like hardie.
