"A great leader who loves a tackle" Harry Rednapp on Clint Hill. Couldn't careless about his age that is exactly the sort of centre half we need.

16 Jun 2016 22:06:14
Yes Harry rates him highly even at 37. Apparently as fit as a fiddle, sounds like a canny bit of business. Will be on a 1 year deal and will provide steel and backbone to the defence. Also a positive role model and great mentor to have around the training ground. Recall in first half of last season that Eustace was reported as having a positive impact, think this guy could be the same. Welcome back MW, hope you had a great holiday!

16 Jun 2016 22:27:25
Fd

He played a grand total of 15 mins of football last season doesn't inspire confidence in him.

16 Jun 2016 23:20:11
Played 15 times not minutes.

17 Jun 2016 06:28:56
For all those moaning about his age, remember a guy called davie weir he did all right wonder if the current management remember him.

17 Jun 2016 07:22:10
Laudrup22

Yes your right my apologies.

17 Jun 2016 07:23:51
Gary75

Davie Weir had been playing for Everton in the EPL though and had done so for a good few years. Still think surely we could do better than Hill though.

17 Jun 2016 10:17:27
Just remember when we signed Davies weir, lots of fans thought it was a mistake to sign him at his age, Clinton hill will do a very good job in Scotland.

Rangers will announce a new sponsorship deal with NASA.

To put simply we are out of this world.

Tee Hee!

Ok confession time, I've been critical of the amount of shoite and "my source" BS that gets posted on here so I thought I'd add a little humour to mine and mention Mark Wright to Rangers.

I know most of you will be gutted he won't be bringing that left peg to ibrox.

But make no mistakes it's all about the Rangers and the only way is GOVAN!

16 Jun 2016 21:58:34
Banter.

17 Jun 2016 11:17:31
Yeah because we were all sitting here believing your dribble.

16 Jun 2016 22:28:17
Who also played 15 mins of football last season.

17 Jun 2016 10:19:24
Wrong biffo, he played 15 games mate, he just wasn't a regular starter, but he should do well up here.

Video on official website showing new sprinkler system and pitch being relaid along with a lot of work inside the stadium good to see our cash being spent on the club rather than sleaze dales buses.

16 Jun 2016 20:51:10
Just amazed my kids showing them that video, it's good to see the care taken by the staff.

16 Jun 2016 20:51:10

17 Jun 2016 10:20:24
Yeah I watched it also, ibrox looks stunning.

16 Jun 2016 19:52:24
I'm really intrigued about the lad Bentley. I recon we should be pulling out all the stops to try and get this guy. The word down south is he's going to be a bumper. £250,000 max cross boarder development fee. Down south they will be paying 3 to 4 million. he's a young hungry player commanding around the 6 yard box. Also look how well the mob did with Forester going to Southampton. Surely the new blueprint should be buy young and relatively cheep then sell on for profit and repeat.

16 Jun 2016 20:18:07
Blueshaun. Bentley is wanted by top championship clubs and by Bournemouth and Burnley. Why would he come to scotland for a lot less of a wage?

16 Jun 2016 20:18:07
Blueshaun. Bentley is wanted by top championship clubs and by Bournemouth and Burnley. Why would he come to scotland for a lot less of a wage?

16 Jun 2016 22:05:30
He could command a better signing on fee from us and a share of any future transfer fee. He will probably cost an English Club $3m so I am sure that he could do a deal with us, play for us for a couple of seasons then be sold to an English Club and take a substantial cut of the sell on!

17 Jun 2016 00:53:55
If Bentley is an ambitious lad he'l come to us mate, chance of winning titles, playing in europe and playing in front of 50,000 plus fans every second week.

16 Jun 2016 20:07:57
Bentley is looking to play at higher level in england he won't be coming to us.

17 Jun 2016 17:27:17
Surely he will realise he'd be first choice up here in front of 50000 every other week. He might not get a game in the Premier league. Anyway I trust the Boss.

16 Jun 2016 19:40:03
I know there's talk of Tom Bradshaw from Walsall I would try and get Rico Henry from them he looks a great player can only get better.

16 Jun 2016 19:53:59
Someone's been playing Football Manager. Lol I recon Rico would cost a few bob.

16 Jun 2016 21:51:13
I was checking out Tom Bradshaw on you tube and the boy Rico caught my eye, have a look for yourself and tell me your not impressed by the boy, cheers mate.

16 Jun 2016 18:59:54
Watching Northern Ireland with pride, just thinking Gareth McCauly what a centre half he would be for the bears, only a thought, coming to end of his career, maybe worth a punt.

16 Jun 2016 20:45:35
Cant argue with that. He had some game!

16 Jun 2016 20:45:35
Cant argue with that. He had some game!

16 Jun 2016 21:00:29
Proud to be a rangers fan from Larne where big Gareth is from. Would love to see him in a gers shirt.

16 Jun 2016 19:46:19
Would be mate but let's see how the manager reacts in that department. He must know for a better defence we'd have another trophy.

16 Jun 2016 18:58:32
Anyone else think Josh Magennis would be a good option up front?
He isn't the most prolific but he has the ability to bring other players into the game. Plus he is a big unit and would give us a bit more of a physical presence up front. He knows the Scottish game and was the main reason Killie beat Falkirk in the playoffs?

16 Jun 2016 19:19:14
On that wonderful display, I'd take anyone of those players, heroes everyone of them to the last man, hope Chesney was watching and see what a good manager can do with average players, so proud of the boys, btw did u see all the rangers tops in the crowd, amazing support, well done the boys.

16 Jun 2016 18:57:06
I think McGovern would be a great choice for goalkeeper and think he could get in in front of Wes as 1st choice goalkeeper.

Also having just watched the NI game, is Steven Davis not just a class act. Was a great player for us.

16 Jun 2016 19:20:47
McGovern is a far better keeper than Foderingham and would be an excellent addition.

16 Jun 2016 19:37:18
All these players performing well on the big stage and after that performance could mean more teams in for them. If we are interested in any of them let's hope the lure of Rangers is enough.

16 Jun 2016 15:44:39
Think we should look at signing Robson Kanu. free agent as well.

16 Jun 2016 16:11:34
We need a out n out goal scorer he's not the answer for that.

16 Jun 2016 16:15:53
Ryan, please tell us who is then?

16 Jun 2016 16:48:54
That depends if we are willing to spend some money or if it's a Bosman we are trying to get in but a guy that's scored 27 goals in 240 club games not for me! a lot a people getting euro fever guy plays ok sign him if he hadn't played at euros a doubt we would be shouting sign him!

16 Jun 2016 17:36:43
would be a good signing on a bosman could also sign out and out striker.

16 Jun 2016 18:06:47
A just feel we should be concentrating on positions we actually need filled 1st.

16 Jun 2016 20:18:02
I'm not a fan of foderingham. But in the cup final v hibs I seen a good side of him. He stopped us being beat by three or four. His defence let him down. My hero was chris woods and then Goram. But to be a good keeper you need a half decent defence. So let's give the guy a chance. But if I wanted a challenger it would be the guy from Southend. He is fantastic.

16 Jun 2016 15:18:00
vardy to the rescue lol.

16 Jun 2016 15:45:50
There pish.

16 Jun 2016 17:07:02
England deserved to win. Have a feeling they are only going to get better from here on. Brave substitutions that came off.

16 Jun 2016 18:04:20
There main problem is same as us, manager picking his favoured players rather than better players.

16 Jun 2016 15:15:47
England are shockingly bad.

16 Jun 2016 14:45:57
Wales player - Robson kanu is having a great game!

16 Jun 2016 14:37:11
Wayne Rooney = Gollum from the films?

16 Jun 2016 13:54:09
Posted on hear months ago about
Oxford United's Kemar Roofe and got
slagged off. If we want a decent player
sometimes you have to pay the money.
People on here should be posting about
the lack of transfer funds, if want to win the
League we must have experience. If DK
has any thoughts of being top he's got to
spend. We can be in Europe next season
get a good run will make money. Hope some people will see where I'm coming
from.

16 Jun 2016 14:35:58
We spent loads on players before, they were overpaid, overvalued and we spent money we shouldn't have but yeah totally see where you're coming from scotman let's start spending mega money again?

When we qualify for European football then we can start spending bigger amounts but we beat SPFL top sides with our team last season and we can improve on that without throwing money away.

16 Jun 2016 15:19:36
Scotmans right we'll still need to spend on some quality up top and at the back what yes we'll get some top quality players on free transfers but we do need to spend also doesn't need to be mega money nor will it also there's no way dk thought when we got promoted that we were going to go up and win the league with all free transfers albeit with 3 development fees in there surely we have at least 5 million to spend on 3 quality signings guys?

16 Jun 2016 15:21:08
Rafbob I'm not suggesting we throw money
away, I posted about 3 p. layers at euro 2016,
all are experienced international players. 1 is out of contract a CB, GK @ 400k and a
23 year old CB @ 700k. If we can't spend
that amount on 3 top players but go for young
guys that'll hardly get a game, then sorry
but I disagree with the policy. Only at the
end of next season will we find out the truth.

16 Jun 2016 15:38:16
Fair enough scotman, I am just bored with impatient people demanding we sign someone.

I know you aren't saying that so I apologise for the knee jerk response about mega money ;)

We are still on the mend and I for one am glad we have a manager who can tie up gems on a budget.

16 Jun 2016 16:24:47
No problem Rafbob, we've been linked with so many players in the past month I've lost count. The foreign players I posted earlier would not cost a fortune nor do I think wages would be an issue but we're still talking about 1st, 2nd and lower division players. We may have won the championship easily but we're now up with the big boys.

16 Jun 2016 19:11:27
Gents I defo think Hill will be there to replace Durrant and if required he will play.
We have to trust the Hat in everything he does we have no choice!

16 Jun 2016 11:56:15
Harry Redknapp, Neil Warnock, David Weir, Mark Warburton all think Clint Hill will be great for the club.

But fans know better than the four of them.

Surprised by the signing and the doubts are understandable but where are the negatives here. He likely won't be the only defensive signing we make, a coaching role is likely, good influence on the younger defenders and might even be a pay as you play type deal.

But he's almost 38 so let's not take the chance.

16 Jun 2016 12:33:54
Thorn 76

People on here are expressing their opinions just like you do I see no point in having cheap shots at them because you don't have the same opinion. It doesn't really matter what those manages think as he may or may not be a good signing. I just don't think it's the way to go and think we could get a better and younger player with less of a history of injury.

16 Jun 2016 12:55:14
It's not just on here though Biffo316.

There was a lot of negativity and so-called opinions on the football and quality of signings that were made under the previous coaching regime.

Signings are going to be scrutinised I'm well aware of that and this is by no means a run of the mill signing. But think the level of scrutiny on this particular signing has been quite severe.

Some fans will think this is a positive signing on and off the pitch. The guy isn't going to play every week, he will help on the coaching side of things and has precedent with not only Weir but Kenny Miller having a positive impact.

I don't know how happy we were when Kenny Miller signed that extension. I don't recall but I can't imagine a lot of fans were jumping for joy.

16 Jun 2016 13:54:41
I think the squad will have a good balance of experience and youth next year the way it's shaping up. Last year we were seriously lacking leadership in certain games and I think the management are now addressing that. Don't forget the first three signings were all under 22. Now we have Barton and possibly Kranjcar and Hill to balance that out. It's what we need, not just on the park but in the dressing room. Guys who've seen it all, so to speak.

16 Jun 2016 16:26:32
Op i think clint hill and kenny miller will take charge of the youngster, that was maybe the reason we got rid of durranty, i also trust the managment team in the players we are bringing in, and the way they try to get us playing, think back 2 seasons ago. what a difrence,

16 Jun 2016 11:38:51
Hi Fellow Bluenoses, i'm a bit concerned at the lack of transfer activity at the club in just over a month we kick off again. Lots of rumours per usual as some utter belters apart from krancs no one exciting me. If the season started tomorrow would be have enough I don't think so. In my view definitely another keeper, Centre back and centre forward minimum. Someone please put my mind at rest and tell me everything will work out!

16 Jun 2016 11:49:11
Blueknows I agree with you keeper, Centre back and striker and If that's what came in I would be happy with the squad. Only thing ill say to you is trust our manager because he is one of the best in the business. We all need to take a step back I'm very confident in our management stuff. I'm sure the team are due back this Saturday?

16 Jun 2016 12:54:31
We've not even played a pre season game yet and people are freaking out. Everyone needs to chill and let the management and board take their time and make the right decisions. They've been spot on with everything so far so why the sudden panic?

16 Jun 2016 11:16:30
Don't know how ambitious this would be but a player who would make us a better team would be Vladimir Weiss. Its no secret he loved his time at Rangers only thing is he is playing in Qatar and that means he's on big money.

16 Jun 2016 12:55:55
People need to realise Weiss is out to make a living from the game, why else would you play in Qatar?

He will probably want to come back to Rangers once he has made his millions for a final swansong when he is 33+.

16 Jun 2016 09:36:31
Imagine what Warburton could do with the loan market with a team competing for the title in Scotland.

The quality of player he was able to get in for a team favourites for Scotland's 2nd division was of incredible quality.

Ball, Zelalem and Oduwa. All three showing glimpses of quality at crucial times throughout the season.

The quality of loan player could be similar to what a mid to bottom of the premier league in England could bring in. Likes of Denayer and Roberts have been loans for them and probably their best players at times.

Can imagine our most crucial player this season could be a young player coming from one of the top teams in England.

16 Jun 2016 10:06:49
I didn't think about the prospect of better loan deals coming in and I have to say you do make a very good point! i'd like to think the likes of the bigger teams down south giving us some quality players but in saying that they where from arsenal and spurs last year yes!
I hope we can attract descent players in signing them but loans can be just as important to a team like ours.

16 Jun 2016 11:30:24
If we sign three loan players and one of them turns out as positively as Ball has, then it's a win win.

Someone who can be a loan deal this year and a possible permanent signing the following season.

Loan deals are crucial for our club and works for all parties involved. There are very few reasons to criticise the loan market.

What positions are we talking about though.

If it's the same as last year, then it's a winger, a creative midfielder and a centre back/ holding midfielder, add a striker into the mix and that'd be perfect.

I'm sure MW wanted more loan deals last season but couldn't bring them because of the Championship. Likes of Winks etc.

16 Jun 2016 11:38:19
We can't go into next season without signing a striker or we are in trouble. sure we will sign 1 or 2.

16 Jun 2016 09:19:12
When MW says he's only wanting another 2 or 3 players in, does that mean Hill, Kranjcar and Ball?

Just seen this reported a while back after the Barton deal. Papers probably reporting him wrong, maybe he said 2 or 3 in soon and took a little longer.

But surely these 3 are no where near all we need for the coming season.

Could you imagine going into the season with only 1 out and out proven striker and a player who that most Rangers fans would admit should be "given a chance" at most. A striker is a must.

One goalkeeper who some Rangers fans would say isn't going to be the player we need for next season. A
Goalkeeper is a must. (If Bell goes) .

Would say cover for Tavernier at least is required. And hopefully another youthful centre back.

That's another 3 at least on top of those close to signing. Along with loans that'd be a decent squad.

16 Jun 2016 09:41:38
We play more of a false 9 formation mate. which doesn't actually use an out and out striker. We have Mckay, Waghorn, Ohalloran, Windass, to use upfront. we have in midfield currently - Barton, Rossiter, Halliday, Holt, Crooks. In defense we have Wallace, Kiernan, Wilson, Tavernier, also Aird is back during the season aswell! if we bring in Hill, Kranjcar and Ball we will have cover for defense and more for midfield. if anything I'd like to see a big striker come in purely for the change of tactic if we are losing/ drawing later on in a match. We are all forgetting aswell that Warbs loves to use the Loan market. Which he uses very well. Loan Players won't be in till near to the close of the transfer market. Have patience mate. Warburton has been on Holiday so I don't expect many deals to have been done.

16 Jun 2016 09:48:27
I wouldn't be surprised if the only other permanent signing make is a striker. I would be very surprised if we didn't sign one though.

Understand about the false number 9 and when you add them up you make a good point, but even with the possibility of Miller firing the goals in we really have no option for an out and out striker.

Not asking for an out and out giant of a lad, just someone who can add something to the first team and score the goals that'll take pressure off of Waghorn and Miller.

16 Jun 2016 10:09:34
U niver mentioned a keeper there mate that's a must I agree with most of what u say I think there will be another 2 or 3 more then fill in the gaps with loans I want a striker in ASAP I'm watching to see if he's looking to bringing 1 in below 30 aswell who's going to cause the other half and this sheep problems.

16 Jun 2016 11:48:10
Striker is a necessity, completely agree. Loan market will be crucial.

Doubt the likes of Fletcher, Graham, or even Bradshaw will be the signing. But MW brining in a striker is guaranteed.

Agree also about them being under 30. Will they spend to bring one in? Hopefully but maybe they can find another great out of contract player.

16 Jun 2016 13:19:07
I think it will be mcgovern, hill and a striker coming in permanent plus 1 or 2 loans for cover at r/ cb and st. Doubt we will spend much this summer.

16 Jun 2016 08:12:19
I think Adam Le fondre or Bradshaw would be great for us. Clint hill has bags of experience which we need at the back. I think 4 or more signings with what we have already we will be back where we belong winning title 55.

16 Jun 2016 09:30:38
4 signings on top of a few loan deals. Didn't Warburton say he wants another 3 on top of Barton, Ball, Hill, Kranjcar by all accounts. Needing a few on top of these including loans and we'll be good.

The loan market could be promising though for a decent winger a young centre back who can play at right or left defence and perhaps a young striker.

16 Jun 2016 10:12:55
no he didn't say another three on top of ball, hill, kranjcar. because we haven't signed any of them as yet and nothing is done until that cartact is signed. he did say another three or four after barton signed.

16 Jun 2016 07:36:27
I see we're about to clinch the signing of Clint Hill with a possible coaching role thrown in to seal the deal. I thought that was Weir's job. Apart from the fact that the guy turns 38 in October and I've never heard of him, it strikes me as a strange move. I know we need some experience added at the back but not that much experience!

I think we should pull our resources with Queens Park and call ourselves QPR.

16 Jun 2016 08:11:17
You probably never heard of Waghorn, Tavernier, Forester, Keirnan and Rossitor either. So don't get your point KFraser! Personally I am really happy with how our management are progressing. The whole club is changing for the better, playing attractive football that you would pay to watch instead of watching stale boring football and a team that was so slow we had to defend 25 yards from goal. Trust the manager he wants to take us back to the top.

16 Jun 2016 08:18:51
Dunbar blue

Yeah but the difference is the players you mention aren't nearly 38 so don't know what your point is. Signing 38 year olds with a history of injuries isn't the way ahead unless it is to coach and only play in an emergency.

16 Jun 2016 09:34:30
My point is in the post!

16 Jun 2016 10:19:07
I agree biffo I don't see dunbar blues point the fact the guy is 38 and injury prone shouts disaster for me.

I know big davie done a job for us but big davie was a proven player with better higher quality experience than hill.
id like to see sum1 maybe 30 32 at the oldest come in, that's what most fans talk about when the say experienced. 38 most people are past it an I think its too much of a risk! imo.

16 Jun 2016 11:35:02
My point James and K is let's trust the manager as not many of us new about the names of the players he brought last season and they transformed our team, so if he thinks this guy will help our team he is likely to be correct. Time will tell. Hope this clears up my point. In Warbs, Weir and Mcparland I trust.

16 Jun 2016 07:14:15
Kozicak GK, Durica CB out of contract, curtis Nelson CB out of contract, Robson kanu ST out of contract and bradshaw ST. If we got these players in I would be over the moon obviously would more than likely need a couple more, back up for LB and RB. Is there any realistic targets that people would like to see rangers going for?

16 Jun 2016 08:00:41
Clint hill plays left back as well.

16 Jun 2016 08:57:49
Bankiebear slovakia GK Kozacik still under contract till 2017 with FC Viktoria Plezen. Would definately like MW to buy him, market value is 1million.

16 Jun 2016 09:14:41
5 player wishlist I like it.

16 Jun 2016 09:22:47
Reading up on another Slovakia squad player at euro 2016. Norbert Gyomber is 23 plays for AS Roma who finished 3rd in Seria A. Didn't play many games 2015/ 16 due to fractured toe. Young guy we can progress for the future. Market value on his profile page is €700,000.

16 Jun 2016 02:13:23
Does anyone think that robson kanu is worth taking free agent as been released by reading.

16 Jun 2016 07:09:30
I think Robson kanu would be a great signing and if we could get tom bradshaw in with him in my opinion our forwards would be sorted.
