When does the Ally bashing finally die down ? Too many posts on this site repeating the same old nauseating theme.

He's not necessarily the guy who selected some of the trialists being proven now as not up to scratch. He needed some experience to blend with the youth and without it the youngsters would have been kicked from pillar to post by some of these 3rd division hackers. He's bringing in as many of the best young talent as he possibly can and still win matches. That's the best part of this new adventure and journey of ours. Sure he picks the team but once out on the pitch don't blame him for the dozens of chances being missed. If our strikers are putting them away and we're scoring 10 I reckon the Ally bashing would disappear.

To the man's credit, he never blames his players and just takes the unwarranted fans' criticism of himself on the chin. He has the squad he has and would Pep Guardiola do better with it ? He's giving the youngsters the chance of a life time and they're making this season an experience for us all. They're becoming the new heroes for the younger generation. This is better stuff than the same old same old SPL games with our team littered with foreigners passing through. {The Ed039's Note - I cant believe you asked theat question, would Pep Guardiola do better? Your damn right he would)

Believable14 Unbelievable39

If not Ally who would have the final say on who gets signed? Do you think managers don't make sure they think a guy is a player? Would you say Ally, tactically, is any good? He had 45 minutes against ten men to change the team shape and run a bunch of part time players into the ground, he could not manage it.You think he should not be criticized? legend yes, manager? we'll see.

Agree35 Disagree2

There is no doubt Ally is 100% a Ranger and should always have a place at Ibrox, but given what lies ahead we need someone with more tactical ability and to be able to develop our young talent. Youth blended with a few seasoned pros is our platform for the next couple of years. My choice of head coach would be Terry Butcher. {The Ed039's Note - I have said this before, but I think where we are, the job is made for someone who is primed to be a cracking coach looking to cut their teeth, like Davie Weir)

Agree23 Disagree3

He isn't the answer and his tactics are appalling. Some of this buys have been awful, the Brazilian and the greek guy are terrible and Faure has got to be the worst player I have seen in a Rangers jersey and I have been going since 1978. The sooner he goes the better

Agree25 Disagree6

For goodness sake guys, Ally may not be Fergie, but his task was to win the league, he is 19 points clear. He's not going to win a cup because we have players who are of a certain standard, I would say a lower SPL club and very few lower SPL clubs win cups. Get real guys we are playing in the lowest league, who do you want Messi, get a grip. As we move up the leagues, as we will, Ally will get the chance to buy better players. By the time we get to SPL he will have had plenty of experience, judge him then.

I have to say those snipers should remember that this guy, a true legend as a player, stuck around, and I for one wouldn't have wished for anyone else at the helm. Has he made mistakes, sure, he is human after all, but he is still 19 points clear at the beginning of January for goodness sake.

Agree15 Disagree18

He is up against part time players and has a squad full of full time professionals. He was able to spend £800,000 on 1 player and pay wages for SPL players like Shiels, Black, Sandaza & Kyle. What other teams in division 3 are able to do that? As for the cups 2 HOME exits. A 3-0 drubbing to ICT and an embarrassing exit against QOS. Not to mention the shocking exits last season in all cup competitions. But if your happy with that then fine

Agree22 Disagree3

Ally is a rangers legend but as a manager he's poor wel win the league this year ok but he's not taking us forward at all

Agree20 Disagree3

Problem is Ally is £1m shareholder lat the old price so its part his toy ....TTTS

so the plot thickens as a meeting is set for next week amongst the conference league members...maybe not as daft as when first mentioned.....personally although it would be great to play in england its still unrealistic as we all know .... upside would be the spl getting to a point where 2 teams automatically have champions league entry qualies are ok .... downside.... its rangers and celtic every year as the others are duff........maybe if it were all the duffers playing on their own for cl status it would create a better, more competitive league.......catch 22 comes to mind....oh and good luck to our new national manager....he needs it.....but it feels more right than the other plumbers.......deecee {The Ed039's Note - DC, its OK the conference teams discussing it, but the FA, the SFA, and all member groups and most importantly FIFA have to say yes as well, including Premiership side etc, so its not going to happen)

Believable4 Unbelievable17

I agree the plot does thicken and sky have not even been brought into the areana yet-Bet they would be considering this as agood move.
Not going to happen keeps being posted however If CG decides to go to the European courts who knows what the outcome could be!
The whole debate about the UK also comes into play and the fact that Scotland is not a seperate Country-I think FiFA might like this debate as it could create one National Team opening up more places for the developing Football Worlds at the major cup competitions.
Although I believe we will not happen this year never say never!

Agree7 Disagree11

Ed you are probably right it won't happen. But for it to get to this stage and in the public domain is better than the rangers' haters who continually refer to Manchester and how the english don't want us. In fact a post the other day referred to how the English don't want Rangers but would take smeltic in a minute. Funny that, when less than 12 months ago smeltic held secret negotiations to get into an English league and got a knock back.
While I am on about Liewell, thought he said he was pleased to see all of the spl clubs in agreement about the new structure. According to his own tv channel bbc1, that's not the case.
Liar liar pants on fire.

Agree8 Disagree10

Is there any organisation in this country you don't think is controlled by Peter Lawwell ? Its really quite pathetic. {The Ed039's Note - Quite possibly Scotland Yard but that is yet to be proven)

Agree16 Disagree8

@4 just as pathetic as your claims of a conspiracy theory throughout the years of an anti celtic campaign by the media, sfa, tv and referees. Never defeated.

Agree15 Disagree13

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE APPROVE IT! LETS GET OUTA HERE AND LEAVE THE DIDDY TEAMS UP HERE TO IT.

Agree2 Disagree3

@3. Liewell and smeltic? I really hope your seven or that's just so sad.

Agree9 Disagree0

Not quite sure of your point No.5. Are you saying there is an anti Celtic conspiracy or that I am saying there is ? I hold no brief for Celtic as my e mail address would show. i'm just pi$$£d off reading that Lawwell is the source of world evil.

Ed when did they rebuild scotland yard in scotland ?? {The Ed039's Note - you mean it's not in Scotland? )

Agree1 Disagree0

{The Ed039's Note - you mean it's not in Scotland? ) iv got a feeling theirs a punch line iv missed and am not going to walk into it lol

Agree1 Disagree0

@7. Yup. Just as sad as the continuous references to Rankers, Ibrokes, Rangers, 'The Rangers', Zombies, Asbestos Alley, Fat Sally, Chuckles, Chuckie, 'The Cheats', etc, etc.

@8 I agree with you about Lawell but if you are a genuine Jags fan I bet you also wished half the claimants on here who allegedly support your club were season ticket holders, as your attendances would double overnight, lol. See point above about the name calling malarkey (nowt to do with Paddy) ;-)

a good point made earlier about our scouting system at rangers, surley with the amount of ex rangers players around the world we should be tapping into their local knowledge of young players coming through, and try and sell the club to these boys as a great place to start your career with, and the great chance you will now get to play in the 1st team !!

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Look at the great job a former player ha already done scouting players for the club... {The Ed039's Note - Good point, maybe the OP should have said decent ex-players)

Agree6 Disagree2

Airdrie manager got Watt in for a trial at MP and he was shown the door.
Scouts didn't even find watt, he was brought to the club on a silver plate and still got punted. This recent lad to leave with Ally's comments is a damning verdict on the scouting system and MP assessment system.

At 20 odd points ahead at half way with another 20 points up second half of season and with same opposition next year, I'm not surprised Green has told Ally to show players the door. This is only the first lad to go this window and nobody will be signed up on pre ckntracts, mark my words.
Rangers are paying far too much to win div3. And don't need better players for next year. {The Ed039's Note - I agree, and I also said this in pre season as well, but if you show too many players the door then you also must reduce the season ticket prices which is not going to happen)

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Why reduce st if more players leave, aim is 30% on players, not 77% as before, as long as promoted who cares... {The Ed039's Note - Because I believe we would not sell as many season tickets if he starts removing the better elements of the product. Tell me, if Green sold Temps, McKay and MacLeod next season, kept season tickets prices the same or increased them, do you think as many people would buy them? Especially if he didnt replace them with similar quality?)

I am amazed at some of the names being put forward by fellow supporters.
I think we need to be realistic...

We are in the 4th tier of Scottish football with no European prospects for another 2 years.

We will NOT be signing Craig Gordon or players who are capible of playing in the SPL or English Championship.

Rangers have a magnificent opportunity to try to secure a VERY young team. We should be scouting for the cream of the young European talent. Give them 2 years tearing up the lower divisions and by the time we return to the top flight we will have filtered out those who are good enough and those who are not and have a squad who have played together as a team.

This route is relatively inexpensive in terms of wages/signing fees.

This would leave us financially stable when we return to the top flight to secure a few (maybe 3 players) of real class and experience to improve.
-this probably won't secure a title....
...but we then add 2 or 3 class players each season once in the top flight and pretty soon we will have a winning side with a healthy business behind it.

The one place I will more than likely lose any support is with ally. I would ask him to leave.

I would bring in a Dutch (or similar technicallly minded nation) manager who could ensure that our squad are very strong at the basics (passing, ball control, shooting, set pieces). This is the only way to truely develope our young team. Most sides in this Country make far too many unforced errors with stray passing.

We were much better at the basics when we had Advocaat (as were Celtic when they had Wim Janssen).

Believable11 Unbelievable9

I think you, find it was the Dutch and advocate in particular who contributed to our down fall I agree with the fact we need to bring through our own youth but just being Dutch won't bring us success if you look at the best managers in world football at the moment you, l find not many are Dutch get behind ally I think he deserves it and its the least we can do for him Steph {The Ed039's Note - Advocaat is not to blame, he took the job on the premise that money was no object, wages were no object, it was the we are Rangers and nobody can touch us cavalier attitude that got us into this position, ie SDM, Advocaat wasnt writing the cheques, he was given a budget and spent it, I cant see the blame lying at Advocaat's door at all)

Agree4 Disagree7

Wim Janssen was at Celtic for a year and brought in Henrik Larsson, can't really remember him going back to basics and bringing in youth . Advocaat spent money like it was going out of fashion and apart from Ferguson I can't remember him bringing anyone through ........DH {The Ed039's Note - Scott Wilson lol)

Agree4 Disagree3

OP - we would all like to see younger players being brought in, players with ambition, decent prospects who will improve and increase in value for selling on later, but you may be aiming a bit high
the "cream of young european talent does not come cheap and are usually in demand by the top clubs so can't see them rushing to play in the lower scottish divisions
Also remember any team always needs a balance of younger players and older experienced pros

JG

Agree2 Disagree1

No european prospects for TWO years .....? I'm confused now because I get it to THREE and a HALF as it currently stands ...... could someone clarify this please ? {The Ed039's Note - Another 3 and a half years. 4 years in total)

Agree6 Disagree1

Dr jo signed larsson {The Ed039's Note - He was signed by Wim Jansen in July 1997 for £650,000)

Agree2 Disagree2

@5 yes and what a signing he was!! Not a celtic supporter but he was definatly the greatest player to play in scottish football for the price! True quality

Agree7 Disagree2

Dr jo signed lubo as ed said jansen signed larrson for 650,000 a clause he insisted was put in his contract and when you look how good he was and the clubs he played for man you barca that's still his biggest transfer fee, it shows how astute he was and even with top clubs in the world he always kept control over his future
