Usual story at Kilmarnock?

Elephant in room - the corner kick - 8 corners after 70 minutes and no goal return?

Is this not a real problem area?

16 Feb 2016 23:17:29
Goal from corner to win match 👍🏿.

17 Feb 2016 11:00:43
Did Everton not have like 30 corners against west brom the other week and get beat 1 0.

17 Feb 2016 14:41:15
Cee - Everton had 14 corners, in that game - wba had 1 - Everton had 76% possession but final score was 1-0 to wba.

16 Feb 2016 22:12:34
general observation - has anyone else noticed the bookings for goal celebrations have escalated since Hallidays red card? have the refs forgot its a mans game and scoring is hard NOT to celebrate SPFL get life and tell these prima donna refs to keep their card in their pockets for REAL serious offences and NOT trivial pursuit.

16 Feb 2016 22:10:36
A corner into the box, it was not a header but neither was it a short corner. Enough said. We will get there, I am now totally convinced on the playing side.

16 Feb 2016 22:10:14
just seen the Clark goal really good finish and we crossed from a corner to get it.

16 Feb 2016 23:10:45
A cross and a headed goal, thank god I'm sitting down. Superb, more of it needed. Great night.

16 Feb 2016 21:57:21
I would just like to heap massive praise to our striker nicky clark who put us through to the scottish cup quarter final against killie tonight with a terrific finish in injury time, nicky's move to rangers thus far has not worked out but I'll tell you something this young man gives everything for the rangers jersey and his attitude even as a sub most of the time has been first class, I'm delighted for my team and for nicky clark!

16 Feb 2016 22:27:46
Well said W15 - we both said similar when the Clarke debate was all the rage a few weeks ago - a well liked player who gives his, all for the jersey -.

17 Feb 2016 08:55:50
Some of the older contributors may remember Iain Ferguson and one Ally McCoist took a season or two to settled into the team - let hope Clark can settle into the side in the possible absence of Waghorn?

16 Feb 2016 21:47:12
Great night. Lions share of possession, 17 attempts at goal away at premiership opposition. Maybe we aren't all that bad eh?

17 Feb 2016 07:39:22
Totally agree that Nicky Clark gives 100% when he pulls on the jersey and his attitude is first class.
Well done on scoring the winner last night.

16 Feb 2016 21:41:52
Brilliant. Dug deep, decent result, well deserved. Let's kick in and win the league and go as far as we can in the cup.

16 Feb 2016 21:39:28
well done lads. new contract for nicky. lol.

16 Feb 2016 21:50:06
Great result! Well done guys you showed real grit to dig out a deserved result.

16 Feb 2016 21:59:41
Top 6 finish in premier league next year? 😀.

16 Feb 2016 22:07:15
Hats off to Clark tho, took his opportunity when it came. If waggy ain't fit for the weekend uts another golden opportunity for the lad.

16 Feb 2016 22:12:21
The winner was an instinct goal, and Nicky must be given a run at number 9.

16 Feb 2016 22:14:47
Great result from a decent performance but we need to convert these chances that we are creating.

16 Feb 2016 22:42:49
Congrats to Gers. and Hibs result shows that the gap between leagues is next to nothing. Hopefully we can strengthen and push on next year and challenge at the top end of the league and maybe just maybe challenge celtic who are def not miles ahead of the rest .

16 Feb 2016 21:28:03
Its a tough ask 3 games on artificial pitches, it takes its toll, let's hope for a late winner, don't need the extra time. Come on the Gers.

16 Feb 2016 21:38:25
Last minute winner, headed in by Clark from a Mckay corner! Brilliant.!

16 Feb 2016 21:42:12
Great result and according to all reports deserved. Maybe not so much of a team of pussies eh?

16 Feb 2016 21:50:52
I had a funny feeling we would score late on, well done lads good result, hope Waggy is ok for Sunday. the boy is a beast, and i fancy he will score a couple on Sunday against QOS.

16 Feb 2016 23:08:28
My mistake I read it was a headed goal? Goal all the same haha. Roll on the next round.

Regarding the Atlantic League, do any Scottish team deserve a place in the 16 team league? let's face it Scottish football has went down the drain. can Celtic, Rangers or Aberdeen really compete with the likes of Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Anderlecht, Genk, Club Brugge, PSV, Ajax, Standard Liege, Olympiakos, AEK Athens, Pananthinaikos? or would we need to hope that an extended league was thought about? giving us a slightly better chance of survival? not to be doom and gloom about such a situation, just that it's very obvious that Scottish Football is rank rotten of late.

16 Feb 2016 15:15:23
Rangers, celtic have a lot to offer with stadia, fan base and you say can they compete yes with extra revenue they can buy better quality to compete.

16 Feb 2016 16:00:25
You are right onlyshow, Scottish football is rotten and that is why this is possibly the only way in which we would see significant funding coming into our game. Spot on the tickle again t, us and them have huge amounts we can offer such a scheme. I would add though, we would both need to leave the sectarian bollox at the door otherwise it doesn't matter what we bring to the party, the big bouncer wouldn't let us in, until of corse we started to bring a better schoolbag to class!

16 Feb 2016 16:17:22
The only reason we can't compete is because of club revenue, sky sports have destroyed Scottish football by bank rolling England's epl which in turn has gradually lowered the standard up here year by year, one thing as well we won't get any better while the people in charge of our game is still running it, btw I'm not saying this with my red, white and blue hat on, I'm saying this because their not fit to run our game and they should have been sacked years ago.

16 Feb 2016 18:26:31
On one hand folk are arguing against the proposed new champions league as its not fair on smaller nations but. if this Atlantic league went ahead where would that leave the rest of Scottish teams financially as presumably if rangers and celtic don't play in Scotland you could say that any tv deal would be difficult to get or on much much worse terms than they are getting now. Imagine if we never got in and celtic buggered off and left us here lol

I think some sort of super league would be cool but it would need to allow for some sort of relegation promotion scenario that is inclusive to the participating nantions but how is that even possible?

16 Feb 2016 21:53:00
Rangers and Celtic apart Scottish Football is a joke league, the sooner that there is an Atlantic League the better. I do feel for Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs but in reality the rest of Scottish football couldn't fill a telephone box with their support never mind a proper quality stadium.

16 Feb 2016 12:40:43
Atlantic League?

Top 3 is 18 team league.

Top 4 teams could mean a premiership and championship of 12 teams each which would mean promotion and relegation.

Scotland
Holland
Portugal
Norway
Denmark
Greece

We still keep our teams in our home country also to help keep that competitive and that can be like our reserve/ u21 teams?

However we cannot win the league for obv reason so if any team in the Atlantic league won it would could to the first place team outside that league? And we can only have our team in the championship league in the home country.

Might mean no CL but I would imagine that if it would become successful which I am sure it would, teams would get bigger in the Atlantic league and we could attracted better players pay more wages and could start to have a better chance of competing against the BIG GUN in the CL.

After time I am sure it would be inevitable that CL teams and Atlantic League teams would got into a New European Competition.

I know it seems hard to bring together but as a Rangers Fan I would happily go for this, we don't have European Football now so why not. And we would have a full season of it in Atlantic League.

Also we could play it as Summer football league with long winter Shutdown, play when the other European Teams are in Pre Season and that would generate massive coverage whilst there Season is on Shut Down, also long winter break would be very attractive proposition for players mangers etc.

Thoughts and no Snide Comments, its all about progression and opinions.

16 Feb 2016 13:09:15
I think the atlantic league is a great idea . football is moving so fast we need to keep up or we will be left behind . the big clubs will eventually move on so why not try and create something for the other teams ie rangers, celtic, benfica, ajax ect it would be a great league with some great teams and no doubt attract huge tv and sponsorship better than what we get now . too many teams in scotland offer nothing to our game they just take, take and i think its time to move with the times.

16 Feb 2016 13:50:31
I have said for years now that TV will eventually dictate the football that goes on. For example, I bet when the big executives are looking at their viewing figures for Monday or Friday nights between Bournemouth v Southampton or Aberdeen v St Johnstone, they wish there were leagues containing teams with a certain pedigree. This could happen should they get their way with Friday night football showing Rangers v Ajax or Benfica v Celtic etc etc. Viewing figures would be up and therefore sponsorships would increase as a result. More money for the TV companies which means more money for the member clubs. Might never get off the ground but you look at the EPL for example, it's the TV companies that tell the teams when they're playing so I reckon if the want this model they will have it.

16 Feb 2016 13:52:10
I can see the merits of an Atlantic league, although to me it seems like a second rate version of what the elite clubs are trying to do with champions league.

We can't on one hand condemn the elite clubs for wanting to make their own European league which fits their needs, then come up with our own version that suits our needs.

I would question if the general football watching public would be that interested in the Atlantic league idea and suggest it would be a bit like europa cup- interesting if your team is involved, less so if they are not.

Is the idea even financially viable? What kind of sponsorship would it attract, what kind of tv deal? Would the stadiums be full or half empty? What level of prestige? Is this in conjunction with the elite league offering promotion/ relegation or are they both stand alone? What of the teams from participating countries that don't make it- do they get a cut, do they get chance to qualify? So many questions.

For me the plan of the elite league must be stopped - the game should be run in the interests of the game not in the interests of the elite. We should be fighting this plan with every thing we have - including threatening expulsion of the clubs if they push ahead. I would suggest that any players that take part in the league should be banned from international football and the clubs should be expelled from their national leagues. It may sound extreme but it is realistic if UEFA, national associations and all other clubs stand firm. The threat of this should be enough.

However if we allow the elite clubs to rewrite the rule book then we and many other countries will be consigned to being second class at best. I don't think unless they are forced to that these clubs will think about the good of the game in general.

16 Feb 2016 14:23:06
Well though out and lucid luigi.
I agree that some will get left behind as a result but know what, if and when it does happen (which I think it will because of money) then I don't want to be one of the teams left behind. We have the pedigree and fan Base that this type of model will be looking for so if this is the future deal me in.

16 Feb 2016 14:29:49
Luigi it will get to the stage where the elite clubs won't care what UEFA say they will just break away and form there own governing body without the elite clubs UEFA are nothing the clubs have the power here TV and sponsorship will dictate not UEFA.

16 Feb 2016 14:44:50
I'm in agreement and feel that an Atlantic League can only be a good thing if organised and ran correctly - Is it 1 league or 2 leagues? Who goes into what league? Are games straightforward home and away? Who gets, the tv rights? What channel would they be on if the mighty rich teams are on sky or BT on a Tues/ Wed night?
Devil's advocate questions now -
Will our game benefit in Scotland?
What happens, to "other" Scottish teams - say the likes of Dundee Ross County Inverness etc? Would they be invited to such a league? What are they left to play for? Should that scenario concern us, as, Rangers fans?
Is domestic football finished as such?
As m3lvo and p&b says it sounds, a good idea - please reply in the positive - I'm sure we're all keen to hear views on this league-.

16 Feb 2016 14:55:50
Why should we care about other scottish teams? Besides rangers, celtic, aberdeen, hearts who else has a fan base and ambition all the other clubs offer nothing to scottish football all they do is take they rely on the big 2 or 3 taking away fans to make money, teams like dundee, st johnstone ect with 2000 crowds.

16 Feb 2016 15:11:33
There is one giant flaw in all televised football and that is the internet.
For example you can now watch any game anywhere in the world live and not pay a penny subscription.
this will eventually impact on the Sky and BT of this world.
When the revenues drop and more and more people watch free why would TV Companies pay out the huge sums as they do now.
It is a ticking bomb and unless the broadcasters can find a way of completely stopping internet traffic the business model will eventually fail.
With it the sand on which the EPL and CL are founded will evaporate.

16 Feb 2016 15:17:04
I have missed 1 away game in the last 7 years, no way I could afford this and I have a great job. WAit anyone want to buy 3 kids lol.

16 Feb 2016 15:24:06
Scottish football never cared about us so f@@k them. let's go for atlantic league. f@@k uefa aswell. form a governing body for the league an go it alone.

16 Feb 2016 15:25:51
I didn't want to say as much but big t has hit the Boaby right on the tess tickle there. I won't really care, I'll be watching my team compete with some of the best Europe has to offer. I ultimately think this would suit the 'rest' as I believe they would be happier competing with each other on a part time basis rather than trying to finance full time footy. There would be a much more level playing field in such a scenario with other teams winning their national leagues as a result. This could spark a playoff scenario between the respective winners of said leagues to gain a spot in the Atlantic league in place of the bottom two for example.
Anyway there will be lots of opinions on this but I for one would think it has the potential to be à great idea.

16 Feb 2016 16:06:17
what would happen to the eastern European team
would this be by invitation or would we need to have to qualify
ten on the political side if the uk opts out the EU
where would our teams stand.

16 Feb 2016 16:57:21
Are take that reforming fir this new league 😢, afcw?

16 Feb 2016 17:08:45
I agree with scotty 52. In the next cupla years most people will get ther footy via the live streams. This may even end up the epl's last big pay day before the bubble bursts.

16 Feb 2016 17:13:34
I said years ago we should form another league with teams from Holland, Portugal, Poland, Austria and invite teams from China and the Middle East. I was however shot down in flames with on post saying where's my flame thrower. Well look what's happening now in China. I can't help thinking we've missed out on something very lucrative. As for the rest of Scottish football they keep saying they don't need us so they'll get their wish.

16 Feb 2016 17:45:27
^^^maybe that would be the bast thing to happen, bring more clubs on par as far as income is concerned.

16 Feb 2016 12:29:02
All this stuff about Mackay doesn't matter. John Fleck was supposed to be next great thing but wasn't. Mackay is very good indeed but one man doesn't make a team. The other youngsters like Murdoch, Walsh, Hardie should be brought into the squad. If they are not, it is a bit like when Coisty was in charge - the kids never got a chance.

16 Feb 2016 13:27:14
And it is easy to look good against lesser opposition.

16 Feb 2016 13:58:23
If you had told me after the qos cup final where fleck was so impressive at a young age that he would have ended up at Coventry I would have laughed at you. Not all young players get better, some get worse, some stay the same.

With Barrie McKay (as a fellow McKay please spell name correctly! ) I think he has scope to improve further as he matures and learns how to use ball better. He's the best young player we have by a distance. Although I would like to see the likes of Jordan Thomson and Ryan hardie get more game time.

16 Feb 2016 17:06:20
Good as he is, he is not, and most likely won't ever be built to survive top flight football, he will be "stiffened" early doors every week til he goes out scared to play, I hate to say this but I really hope warbs15s great masterful manager knows what is require in Scottish football, we must realise we play every week against wheelie bins, and we require almost a full team to challenge on the top league here never mind Europe, does anyone actually believe that Waggy is as good as his goals record seems to indicate, can't trap, can't control, and shuts his eyes and wallop, I'm a fan of over 45 yrs before anyone starts, I just happen to have played and understanding the game, why do you think we cudnt damage tge worst teaam in the prem, at home?, and while I hope er won tonight, I doubt it
Tommy.

16 Feb 2016 17:44:30
Er, we didn't play Dundee Utd or Motherwell.

16 Feb 2016 17:55:46
Tomtom a think your doing the lad a disservice there. Every time a see him get hit he just pops straight back up and at them. And in my opinion the defenders he's had to deal with coming through the divisions are more tough tackling than in the SPFL. I think McKay unlike most small/ slight wingers his age is really tough. Compare him to Oduwa who has been pampered at Spurs his whole life and the difference is night and day. Would Defo send our other youngsters out to the lower divisions to toughen them up.

16 Feb 2016 11:24:31
there's a lot said about us not having big players in the box for corners.
take a wee look at the height of our current squad.
5 over 6ft and 4 more over 5ft 10.

do you oldies remember Jimmy Millar, Ralph Brand, Jim Forrest, Nacho Novo, Ally McCoist, Derek Parlane, Shota Averladze, Rod Wallace etc etc etc
No giants amongst that lot, yet all were prolific goal scorers.
Come on Warbs, change the corner tactics and see how many more goals we WILL get.

16 Feb 2016 17:15:13
Iys strange to day bill, bit he doesn't seem able to change, every manager knows we make 2 subs on the hour, they usually know who they are and who they're replacing, every corner kick routine, so they practice accordingly, thus we have scored very few via corners,23 on one game and not one goal? Against alloa? , I'm having, not doubts, but concerns about warbs awareness of Scottish football, which before anyone rants, is where we play, I tea someone posting that we were better than Aberdeen? So therefore we would have beaten every side in prem including celtic? That tells you some people are deluded and don't understand the game here, no, one would fear playing RANGERS, THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT, so will killie, but I hope we can find a eay to beat them, I'm fed up watching us tippy tap the corners about
Tommy.

16 Feb 2016 17:54:56
People on here are not stupid as you appear to allude to. And the standard of football played in the top flight is not a source of wonderment or joyful bliss that you think it is. I watched 2 poor teams last night serve up dross like I've never seen before and I've also watched the poorest Celtic side in years on a few occasions this season getting embarrassed by the likes of Molde, Maribor, Legia Warsaw and Ross County among others. Are they miles in front of this Rangers team? Imo no, and I suspect I am not the only one on these sites who thinks so.

16 Feb 2016 10:39:39
Bears, the Killie games not on TV tonight is it? Does anyone know if its live on Radio or any good website for live updates? Cheers.

16 Feb 2016 12:43:04
Smrfc try vip league around 10-15 mins before kick off for live stream.

16 Feb 2016 15:26:00
First row
Iraq goals
Myp2p
Vipbox
Game will be live streamed on 1 of these web sites. gers 2.1 win.

16 Feb 2016 17:22:27
You guys highlighting what I said in Atlantic league thread, internet TV will end stupid TV deals and bring sanity back to footy.

16 Feb 2016 09:50:03
So Wee Barry, looking to play well for next 2 years then leave as a free agent in 2018 and get a big bumper pay day down south, well played wee man, I would love to know who his agent is.

what is the point in signing a 2 year deal, plays one good season then he only got one left and if someone wants to buy him we don't have much of a leg to stand on.

I am pretty annoyed with that one tbh. that is why it has taken so long for him to sign, we were probably offering 4 year deal and he has dug his heels in and got it reduced to 2 years I would imagine reading between the lines.

Get him benched,

O'Hal, Waggy, Forrester

Thank you.

16 Feb 2016 10:34:22
I thought Forrester played descent against alloa showed some nice touches and passes, not his fault waghorn couldn't hit the target.

16 Feb 2016 11:24:10
'Forrester played DECENT against ALLOA' !
this is what we are happy with now?
Inverness v Aberdeen last night was crap, but both of them would beat the Rangers I'm afraid. We have no steel, a dodgy defence, no plan B, apparently no-one who can or is allowed to throw in a cross from a free kick or corner, and no out and out striker.
almost 30 chances at goal- and played DECENT against ALLOA, I'll say it again, ALLOA?

16 Feb 2016 11:46:54
Cee

Don't get your post, am saying play O'Hal Waggy Forrester as the front 3 and Bench McKay, he has half heartedly committed to us. I can't understand why we agreed to a 2 year deal, he I a young boy should be signing 3-4 years min and showing commitment, his head is already thinking of him being elsewhere if you ask me. After MW giving him the chance to shine that is how he repays him and rangers a 2 year deal, get him benched, Forrester is hungry and trying to prove himself and would no doubt be grateful for a 3-4 year contract. Wee Bmck has went way down I my estimations.

16 Feb 2016 11:42:09
I reckon it's more of a case he'll be gone in the summer, he was becoming worthless with only a year and 4 months on his contract left, now he has 2 years, makes him a lot more valuable, if anyone wants him they will need to pay for him, and you never know, maybe it's a case of I'm a young lad and I don't want tied down to playing in Scotland until I'm 25/ 26, and let's face it with UEFA's new idea of a invite only champions league the kid has the right idea to play well and get to a big team very soon.

16 Feb 2016 12:14:02
I don't understand the 2 yr deal myself- he's prob our best asset. 4 yrs sounds right to me.

16 Feb 2016 12:21:56
bil72.I had to laugh at a similar post yesterday about the impact Billy King allegedly had when he came on. I wasn't aware he came on and scored the winner. Oh that's right he never. That would have been the only impact worthy of mention.

16 Feb 2016 12:27:52
I get what you are saying onlyshowaround, however let's face it who is going to want to sign him this season after playing one full season in the Scottish Championship? I mean let's be serious he not exactly a world beater, good player, but much to learn. I he going to become another sucker and head to the championship and be lost in the abyss of players down there. I just don't see the logic at all in allowing him to sign for 2 years. Get him out the door, the little PreMadona!

16 Feb 2016 12:38:43
If I could predict it this is how it will go down. He will sign for an epl team, sit in the bench, go out on loan, get released, sign for a Scottish team (not rangers) then never be heard of again. Seems to be the way for Scottish based Scottish players with potential to do well for themselves.

16 Feb 2016 12:53:25
Front 3 of Waghorn O halloran and McKay with Miller and King as cover.
McKay is streets ahead of Forrester at the moment and is composed and can score the odd goal.

16 Feb 2016 17:18:30
Bil72, I could t agree more mate, and i fear the worst tonight
Tommy.

16 Feb 2016 17:27:20
If we get good money for him on a years tome then that's good business, sellik been doing it for years now, and they've made a fortune
Tommy.

16 Feb 2016 18:55:11
Was just saying I thought he played well because a lot of people recently have been powering lol.

16 Feb 2016 09:07:05
the weather could play a big part
in the game tonight
defences will need to be on their
toes.

16 Feb 2016 06:31:56
Tell me plead my ignorance tho. with the lack of skill in scottish youngsters bar a few do spfl teams have a skills coach to show stepovers etc or are they just left to get on with it and don't say coaches teach yhem cause half the coaches can't even kick a ball anymore. its easy doing a strpover but running full speed doing it totaly diffrent ball game. just a question guys.

16 Feb 2016 10:35:20
I doubt it very much, scottish coaches don't want to see it it's "disrespectful"

16 Feb 2016 11:25:22
wouldn't want them to trip up and suffer 'abrasions' on the plastic.
