I think we're all in agreement on here, that our young american loanee, emerson hyndman is a terrific young midfielder, who'll only get better and better! We're also all in agreement that we would love to have him signed up with rangers, permanently!

My question i'd like to throw out there, to all my fellow bears, is over the years we've had many great midfielders, who've graced ibrox, so which midfielder from our past does emerson hyndman remind you of, the most? I think he has a very similar style, to the classy ian durrant, who he reminds me, very much of! Very similar attacking styles!

17 Apr 2017 10:14:41
What's happening with ohalloran cooper?

17 Apr 2017 11:47:44
On a slightly different note I think Holt has been outstanding in the last few games. I have criticised him heavily over the season but he has done well in his deeper role. Covers every blade of grass and breaks up so many opposing attacks. Now a key player for us on Sunday

17 Apr 2017 12:11:27
Won't be that if he joins them. He won't be a regular anyway at the green and grey. Only signing him to show the spending power they have over us, a bit like scott allan was.

17 Apr 2017 12:19:00
Hyndman is a good player and I can understand you liking him to Durrant to some extend. Although, in my opinion Ian Durrant pre-injury could have and should have become one of the greatest if not thee greatest player ever to pull on our shirt. Durrant was outstanding

MOH is completely sickened off and cannot understand why he's not getting a fair crack at the whip! He's saying he's done everything that's asked of him in training, laudrup 1!

17 Apr 2017 13:35:42
Tbh i'm sick of seeing MOH trying to play for my club as he's useless and has a worse touch than Gordon Durie with work boots on.

17 Apr 2017 16:05:19
I think we are bumming up hyndman a but much he's good but I think games Madison who was on loan at Aberdeen earlier in the season would be a great signing and a lot less than hyndman would be.

17 Apr 2017 16:31:54
Supercoop, inform ohal that he's useless and that's why he doesn't get a game. He's in the same boat as halliday and kiernan, worse than a man down.

17 Apr 2017 16:37:35
He was asked to represent the club in a U20 fixture and decided not turn up!

17 Apr 2017 18:49:11
Coldo you don't know what MOH is doing in training so i'm not informing MOH about any such thing my friend!

17 Apr 2017 18:52:09
Cee, hyndman is streets ahead of maddison in ability! Easily! So there's no bumming up hyndman here mate! The young guy is class.

18 Apr 2017 00:06:08
Supercoop, I was actually at the utilita training day on the 30th march and believe me moh couldn't cross the road never mind a ball my friend. He is hopeless.

18 Apr 2017 10:09:14
You were at a ONE day training day and you can judge a players training methods and schedule that quick! By god my friend you could certainly teach sir alex ferguson a thing or 2! Give up your day job and get yourself into football management! You're obviously cut out for it!

18 Apr 2017 14:26:53
Judged him for over a year now coop by just watching him play. You are sticking up for a player the same way you did with Warbs. It took you long enough to see that Warbs was hopeless now you are doing the same with MOH. MOH is hopeless.

18 Apr 2017 22:42:22
people say that he is doing everything in training but obviously he isn't doing it to the standards required or he would be on the team sheet others must be doing it better than him.

and now that he has shown true colours and not showed up for a game he can do one .

i liked him and thought he might just do it under this new manager but he done that which is just childish and he shouldn't be near the team now.

19 Apr 2017 00:18:39
Beggers belief that some people will come up with every excuse to defend people that should be nowhere near the club when it has been obvious for months that certain players are just not good enough.

16 Apr 2017 19:19:51
I get the impression young Bates will get the same stick that was directed at players such as Alan Hutton and Charlie Adam from a section of our fans.

He's been part of a defence which hasn't conceded a goal and we've came up against two in form sides in Aberdeen and Thistle, Aberdeen in particular who thrashed Dundee recently. Rather than trying to find fault in the young lad can we not just look at the positives?! He's defended really well at times and Wilson and him look like a real partnership and a partnership which can last beyond this season, something Hill can't offer. Wilson has been excellent recently and I've no doubt it's down to having Bates in there rather than Kiernan who was actually costing us goals with his passing out of defence and switching off at times, something Bates hasn't done since he's came in.

I thought we were terrific defensively against Aberdeen who put us under some real pressure from the start of the second half and we did something we've not been able to do with any other combination at centre half all season and that's keeps the ball out the net. Praise the boy, be optimistic that he can be a long term fix and a fixture in the team for years to come, because to this point he's done nothing to suggest he can't be that player.

16 Apr 2017 19:54:01
J1985

I don't think he will get the same stick. Yeah he has done well since he came in but happen to think due to Hill's experience he should play against them in front of bates. Hill was excellent at Celtic park the last time scored the equaliser and made a superb last ditch tackle to deny Griffiths

16 Apr 2017 21:37:15
Rangers fans loved hutton and all said adam was a good player if we didn't play him as a left mid. Not really seen much criticism of bates apart from that for such a big game we should maybe go for someone more experienced

16 Apr 2017 21:46:11
Yes Huey that's my opinion just feel hills experience for this one could be crucial no harm towards big bates done well in his 3 matches although am sorting of contradicting myself a bit because I feel beerman should stay in even if Wallace fit

16 Apr 2017 23:27:21
I think Beerman should stay in the team BUT imo we have suffered all season because we have not had any quality on the left wing! Therefore I would move Beerman on to the Wing and give Lee the LB position. Lee is a decent player not Captain material tho. At the end of the day I would like to see a team run out at Ibrox with Beerman on the left and Atayaki on the right wing. Sign these lads up long term NOW or we will lose them for peanuts in Jan or end of nxt season.

16 Apr 2017 23:30:24
I find myself agreeing with both j1985 and bengy25! You both make very good and valid points regarding bates, wilson and hill! No argument here from me guys on your points of view!

16 Apr 2017 23:50:46
I liked hutton too was gutted when he went to spurs.

16 Apr 2017 23:52:48
He's been a stand out and it's shown how bad hill and kiernan are when a young boy is stepping up and showing them how to command a defence. He isn't great on the ball who cares neither was John Brown.

16 Apr 2017 23:53:22
@andy1872 - why play people out of position? Did we not slate MW for that very reason on here at times?

17 Apr 2017 00:53:26
Have to disagree a bit Huey (not to cause an argument for the sake of it mate) but I vividly remember sitting in the Govan front with my auld man and we'd see the same players get stick every second week and over the years there was a pattern. Hutton, Adam, Maurice Ross, Bob Malcolm, Chris Burke, Steven Thompson, Scott Wilson etc. Young Scottish player get it much tighter than a foreign prospect, 100%. Not all fans I might add so please don't take this as me trying to come across all high n mighty, I've gave enough players plenty of stick but just wish we'd be more patient as a whole with the young lads coming through.

As for the weekend, if it ain't broke n all that. The young lads haven't let us down so I see no reason why either wouldn't keep their place in the team. Next season will be here before we know it and do much rather see the two boys maintain momentum and see the season out than replace Bates with Hill who'll likely not be here next year.

17 Apr 2017 12:15:39
Well the only way to get experience in those games is by playing him. so when is the right time to play him? . If Ped throws him in on Sun it will give him bags of confidence and as for Hill, he gives to many needless fouls away for my liking and don't get me started on Kiernan

17 Apr 2017 12:39:06
Agree play the young lads against Celtic. Only decision for me is whether bring in Hodson or Hill (if fit) as extra defensive cover.

17 Apr 2017 17:06:59
Union jack i think u find beerman is a winger that canalso play full back

18 Apr 2017 00:52:11
Not defending kiernan but i wonder if wallace being out has been major contributor to the clean sheets. Take away his attacking threat and he a worse full back than stuart munro

18 Apr 2017 10:15:47
Beerman is not a winger. He is a right back who fills in at left back.

18 Apr 2017 22:43:35
havent u ever heard the saying don't fix something that isn't broke? we have to stick with what's been working the past couple of games and that's bates and wilson.

do i think they should be our future cb's well naw no really i'd expect better to come in at the cb positions and those two to be used as cover as wilson's few good games doesn't undo all the calamity of this season or end of last so i'd say get better than wilson in.

he is doing better now but i couldn't trust him to do it for a season what about you guys?

16 Apr 2017 17:52:23
Like a broken record here with all the views about a 'nervous' Bates and Hill being our only chance against Celtic. They're reading too many expert journalists obviously or we've got a few dozen certified psychologists as posters. Never read such rubbish.

16 Apr 2017 18:34:43
I would trust bates more than keirnan.

16 Apr 2017 19:17:43
What about wilson he's our most improved player the past 2 month. If pedro trusts bates against them then so do i

16 Apr 2017 19:19:57
I would stick with the young lads Bates and Beerman. The only point I would make is that when we have played best against Celtic this season we have played with an extra man at the back, usually Hodson. Will be interesting to see if we revert to that. Think that either Hodson or Hill should come in, but regardless Bates and Beerman should remain in place.

16 Apr 2017 19:28:25
Ross County drew with them. Why are we worrying. We will gub them twice in next couple weeks. Absolute certainty.

16 Apr 2017 23:24:31
Yes put hodson rb and tav further up to replace waggy.

16 Apr 2017 23:27:54
blue voice, love it. you want to put a wager on it?

16 Apr 2017 23:53:04
Thebluevoice if that isn't jinxing us i don't know what is. What makes you so confident

17 Apr 2017 12:22:02
No chance waghorn is getting replaced and that's good imo he's been playing well lately. I wouldn't have taverner anywhere near the celtic match.

18 Apr 2017 22:44:59
i would put wallace on if fit not beerman as waldo done brilliantly last time stopping forester

16 Apr 2017 15:27:34
CLOSE

16 Apr 2017 15:01:36
Looks like mw has been watching Pedro and taking notes changing tactics and formation at half time wtf

If he just learned how to do that here maybe he would not have been arse and necked out of the door

16 Apr 2017 12:22:59
Looks like luam boyce leaving ross county.10 goals in that team not too bad. take him iver garner maybe.

16 Apr 2017 14:46:56
I'd say we need to be looking at better quality than that

16 Apr 2017 16:58:24
Not too bad lol. he's scored more than any of ours

18 Apr 2017 22:45:34
we should be looking at better quality and yes he has scored more than ours that's not that hard tbh. and is the reason we need another striker or two.

16 Apr 2017 12:18:45
Beerman is also a winger so i'd play him there if mackay goes. he looks good. bates a bit shaky but ok. i would like to see at least 1 young player on bench every week. if we winning with 20 mins to go. put him on 15 16 17 18 years olds. let's give young prospects a chance when we can. maybe they won't want to leave then.

16 Apr 2017 23:51:04
He's a fullback doesn't have the ability to play as a winger. Not creative enough.

16 Apr 2017 11:42:32
Listen lads if gilmour goes then good luck to the lad. i doubt he will fulfill his potential there but that's there choice. maybe being loaned out for next 5 year give him good experience but anyhow good luck lad.

16 Apr 2017 13:26:17
Spot on

16 Apr 2017 19:13:26
Terrible decision by the boy and his family but yes if he goes wish all the best.

16 Apr 2017 19:14:29
I wish the lad all the very best.

15 Apr 2017 23:59:45
How long is hill out for because a fear the worst if bates starts against Celtic.

16 Apr 2017 02:29:08
The boy can't be that bad if we've had 3 clean sheets when he's played! His confidence will only grow

16 Apr 2017 08:49:50
Stu is blue

He has looked a bit nervous and shaky in possession of the ball but he has done well however it's one thing keeping clean sheets against Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Partick Thistle but another keeping a clean sheet against Celtic

16 Apr 2017 09:04:02
Are u for real Caw1. The two lads have been a great at the back. Stability and do the simple stuff well. Who else would u play? Kiernan? Hill is not the answer and will be gone in two months.

16 Apr 2017 09:52:03
I thought the young boy has been tremendous. Too many on here want ourselves to fail. We are rangers supporters so support! The last two games the boy has been solid I think some aren't watching games but instead read match reviews off the Internet or BBC who have their own agenda of doom when it comes to us, me I'm maybe blinded by love when it comes to this club but if I where to think about it I'd go for the boy who has played all month and been a part of a defence that has kept clean sheets over the guy who has been out injured a day I can remember being in a side that had three clean sheets in a row or defeated a top four side away from home, but we are all entitled to an opinion but surely when all you do is spout negative crap and abuse at the team you support do you ever think that you could be crossing a line as this isn't support would you effectively not be a supporter, just a thought

16 Apr 2017 10:19:09
What games have you been watching. Bates has been solid? The Bates boy has been really nervous in all the games and nearly sold a few goals. On the other hand Clint hill has been on of our best players this season. I'd take hill for the old firm.

16 Apr 2017 10:31:24
@bengy25 - none of our regular centre half's have keep clean sheets against Celtic this season so what's your point?

16 Apr 2017 11:35:20
Union Jack

If you read what the posters have said on this thread you will see a lot want Bates to keep his place as he has played in a defence that has had 3 clean sheets. I pointed out that it's easier to have clean sheets against those teams than it is against Celtic. I also said that I feel he has been a bit nervous and shaky in possession. I think the Celtic strikers would take advantage of this and would punish us. I'd rather Hill played as he played well in the last game and he is a goal threat

16 Apr 2017 11:49:11
Can't believe the negativity towards bates! We've now had three clean sheets on the trot. One being at the sheep which if Warburton was still in charge would never of happened as he would of had his golden boy kiernan on the team sheet. I would be more worried against celtic if bates wasn't playing! As union jack said what has our previous defence done to warrant at start against celtic? And it doesn't matter if we conceded against them, it's goals that win you games and I'm more worried about going forward. What I mean is if we do concede it doesn't mean bates shouldn't be in the team. He's still learning. I'd start dodoo and miller in a heartbeat. Garner concentrates to much on wishing he was part of ufc and waggy is a bottle merchant! Keep everything tight and we definitely have a chance. We've already shown we can match them on the pitch. Would make my year if we could put a stop to they're treble chances. The old firm nerves have started already! 😱

16 Apr 2017 14:28:54
Bit harsh on Bates. First two games the boy was nervous when he had the ball, he made a few bad first touches and wayward passes. yesterday i can only think of the first 5 mins when he made a mistake. Defensively i think the boys been doing just as good as hill and kiernan. Yesterday you could see his confidence was growing when he was stepping up to the halfway line to win the ball.

16 Apr 2017 14:48:49
Hill will be back Sun

16 Apr 2017 16:59:01
Whats to fear? Side with him in it hasn't conceded

16 Apr 2017 16:59:35
Why do people think Bates is Bad! If he and the team managed to get 3 clean sheets in a row it's obviously because the defence is doing something right!

16 Apr 2017 16:59:38
Why do people think Bates is Bad! If he and the team managed to get 3 clean sheets in a row it's obviously because the defence is doing something right!

16 Apr 2017 16:59:56
Caw1, give young bates some credit! Like stu-is-blu says he can't be that bad with our recent run of clean sheets, something we couldn't do under warburton! He's still inexperienced and young and had the odd wobble but he's a good no nonsense centre half! Have some faith in the boy as his performances in general have been good!

16 Apr 2017 16:59:44
Bates has done a fantastic job for us. let's get behind him.

16 Apr 2017 16:51:16
Give bates and beerman a chance, its the only way to help their development. The old saying goes its sink or swim.

16 Apr 2017 16:53:39
Last time we played them we only conceded 1 and our centre half scored the equaliser. The point is I'd rather have Hill than Bates. Hill was superb in the last old firm game and can pop up with a goal

16 Apr 2017 16:57:49
How come as soon as you take off the blue tinted specs you are 'negative'? Bates is doing okay, he's had a respectable but nervous couple of games, I hope he goes on to be a good defender for us. But there's no way he's ready yet to go up against the mhankies, a bad game could set him back months.

17 Apr 2017 01:33:38
How come when fans are excited and optimistic about a player other fans suggest there's a blinkered bias?

Is it not cause to be encouraged by 3 clean sheets in a row, particularly the clean sheet against Aberdeen just after they came off the back of hammering Dundee. Hill has been OK but with all due respect he was the best of a bad bunch under Warburton but our defence has improved without Hill so don't see any reason to change what's clearly working.
