Really hope Warbs at least starts the game against tic 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1 and sees how it goes, Brenda is going to flood the mid we have the players to compete but they need to be able to support one another. please keep Kiernan out the 11.

16 Oct 2016 00:45:31
You can hope but it ain't going to happen.

16 Oct 2016 01:29:17
On the Barton issue imo I feel the guy does actually want to play football but it won't be with us, I hoped it could be resolved but no. Anyways he does have 1 or 2 seasons left in him especially at Championship level although Turnkey may take him for a yr I think one main reason he came here was because he could play Euro football nxt yr, so I think come Jan he will go and I think he will be wanting to push it through quickly. This would be the best poss outcome financially, wouldn't hold my breath in thinking there will be a fee but but u never know.

The absolutely best thing that could happen especially if Joey wants to play is this, his agent sources a club or clubs who want him and if poss we pay him half or maybe even all what he would earn till Jan then both parties agree termination of contract and Barton is free to sign as he would be a free agent, why wait until Jan as I'm sure both want this scenario ended!

Would this be an answer to the situation or is it more complicated regarding contract? Thoughts Bears.

16 Oct 2016 02:37:07
At his age the job Warbs is asking him to do the amount of flack and responsibility on his shoulders the game time he's getting McKay will develop into a top player!

16 Oct 2016 10:11:14
I've got horrible feeling keirnan is going to start in semi warbs really rates the big guy he must look good in training or something. I really hope I'm wrong but with him playing on Friday and senderos on bench I fear warbs is thinking about it.

16 Oct 2016 10:44:41
the guys a bombscare hope he don't play.

16 Oct 2016 10:50:56
Wilson training this week as he picked up a knock. MW words before ICT.

Doubt he'll make the Celtic game. Hill and Keirnan it shall be again.

16 Oct 2016 11:51:10
I thought rob looked good on Friday next to clint, our defence is much better than it was a few weeks ago, we are really starting to build momentum now, as I said a few weeks ago, it doesn't take much to climb up the spl league.

16 Oct 2016 12:11:28
Andy72, i think joey barton will be off loaded in the winter transfer window. its a pity cause if the guy had a different attitude he could have been a good signing, but things never went right with either party in regards to his move to rangers,

18 Oct 2016 08:47:49
we have the players to compete? i would say scrape and get a lucky goal or two.

halliday to start.

15 Oct 2016 12:18:05
Bringing Joey to Rangers is a big statement of intent by the club

Joey brings an enormous amount of experience and is a top professional

I'm very excited about what Joey can do for the team. He's got a real desire to win, he's a combative midfielder. "

All Quotes from Mark Warburton, so now that things have gone pair shaped, he's basically saying I made an error in judgement, and he's cost us at least 2 million, money we definitely cannot afford, don't worry the supporters will bail the club out again, season book price rise!

15 Oct 2016 12:34:16
He has been a massive mistake. We move on.

15 Oct 2016 13:28:03
Full blame lies at Joey Barton's door. He's cost us. Went from championship player of the year last season to Tool of the year this season. MW can't predict the future and nor should he be held accountable for the actions of a grown man. You must admit we were all excited when he signed. He's let us all down. £2m is a lot to us nowadays but in comparison to the money Walter, Dick and co. threw down the drain it's two tears in a bucket.

15 Oct 2016 13:34:51
Don't think the situation with Barton is as simple as just "moving on".

Biggest acquisition of the summer in terms of midfield experience and name recognition.

Was a massive risk and will cost us a fair bit to get rid.

All signings have made an impact apart from Barton.

15 Oct 2016 14:13:03
Dont know how it will cost us £2mill when we sell him in January. I would imagine we will make profit on him.

15 Oct 2016 14:55:18
I agree Huey.

Don't pay the idiot off, he hasn't earned it. If he won't walk. We play hard ball keep him well away from the 1st team and offload him in Jan, even if it's for free we are better off without him and his 20k a week salary could towards a decent centre half to play beside Wilson.

15 Oct 2016 16:22:26
hindsight is a great tool barton was at burnley with no trouble although they did not appear to fight hard to keep him only time will tell if that was warburtons only mistake in the transfer market he will have done well.

15 Oct 2016 17:22:28
Mjg
All our past managers have made mistakes more costly than sighting Barton Souness, Smith and, Advocate 10 of millions down the drain with some of there signings!

15 Oct 2016 20:06:45
Tore Andre flo, although his goals against Celtic where almost worth it.

15 Oct 2016 20:19:30
if flo had cost 5 million he would have been a bargain. every player has played there part in our history from flo to lafferty to boumsong they all deserve respect. except maybe nuns capucho lol.

15 Oct 2016 21:21:19
I here you saying Warburton made a mistake signing Barton but it was actually King who signed him, so Warburton has done nowt wrong.

15 Oct 2016 22:25:06
Absolutely spot on peterhuistra. Its down to mcparland and warburton to chose barton and king obviously gives the go a head but king didn't sign him that's a load of baws, but yeh with barton being the player of the season last year you can hardly blame anyone for thinking its a good shout. Its down to barton himself he's to blame for his poor performance his bust ups with team mates his off the pitch loud mouth and social media comments and now his betting.

16 Oct 2016 06:03:24
Barton, Burnley player of the season and in Championship team of the season was not the Championship player of the season. Just thought I'd clear that up.
As far as it goes I would have thought it would be cheaper and potentially quicker to allow lawyers to fine comb his contract to see if there is any breach which would be grounds for instant dismissal without pay.

The betting is looked at by sfa not us but here's hoping we have a valid legal reason to terminate his contract. Sick of this whole Barton saga far as I'm concerned as good a player that he may be he hasn't showed it here and has only gave us problems. We seem to be gelling a little better now let's keep this going.

16 Oct 2016 11:33:09
Signing him was a mistake- when I pointed it out all I heard in return was that I was being 'negative'.

But we did sign him and we can't behave like we are sports direct. Warburton needs to grow a pair and learn that criticism is part of the job. He's been extremely petty over this and his latest dispute with bt.

So we have our scapegoat, we are trying to force him out- good on Barton for standing up for himself. In this case Warburton pettiness will cost us money we don't have- nobody will bid for him after we have publicly trashed his already questioned reputation.

Some fans need to take off the blue tinted specs and look at what's really happening- Warburton is not infallible.

16 Oct 2016 11:52:24
Large bill - he's far from his only mistake.

Yes all managers make errors, but IMO only rossiter and windass are good enough for where we hope to be in the future.

Most his other signings will never get us to the level we need to be at to challenge Celtic.

IMO - we could and should have added 2-3 players of a higher standard rather than spreading our cash thinly bringing in 11 players. But more imaginative scouting of lower leagues across Europe would have helped. Warburton said he wouldn't do that because they would take too omg to settle- well the majority of his summer signings have yet to show their best.

16 Oct 2016 12:13:17
Peterhuistra, i also agree with your post, but if joey still wants to play football he will be off in January, he could have done well st our club, if he wasnt so stuburn, imo.

15 Oct 2016 10:31:45
Has anybody got any information regarding Michael O'Halloran missing last night after Warburton saying he has a full squad. He's been with us 9 months now and his game time is terrible is he a bad buy will he come good will he be sold on?

15 Oct 2016 11:35:39
Seems as if he was signed after he played well against us in the cup.

Then had a decent game at parkhead against Celtic.

Obviously they'd have scouted him excessively but as of now he seems like the worst buy of the lot and Dodoo seems to have taken his place in the squad, as the pacey winger with no real end product.

15 Oct 2016 11:59:44
Thorn76 I disagree about MOH being the worst buy.
That is reserved for Garner.

I strongly voiced my opinion on him before he actually signed and said he was a complete waste of a Jersey.

Many jumped to his defence including the ones that seemingly lived down south and watched him often (aye right)

What was it? £1.8m total waste.

15 Oct 2016 12:09:48
We should have signed chelsea's young striker tammy abraham on loan when we had the chance. I said before the season started that out of all the strikers we were being linked to, abraham was the pick and the one i wanted for rangers, to be honest and fair a good few other posters on here were saying the same thing. This striker is smashing goals in for fun just now in the english championship, with bristol city, who he's on loan to, from chelsea, maybe worth a look again in january, fellow bears!

15 Oct 2016 12:18:02
Coop, you also said Garner was the real deal and i would end up with egg on my face.

15 Oct 2016 12:31:39
garner is a good player by Farr our best put and out striker. works hard, defends from the front but he hasn't scored 14 goals in 5 games must be the worst buy in history of football eh.

15 Oct 2016 13:24:15
The jury is still out on Garner and it would be unfair to judge him after such a short time.

Just to add my tupence, I said I had reservations about him before he came and pointed out that his scoring record in the championship was poor.

15 Oct 2016 13:29:47
Honestly thought MOH would be a star for the club.

Suppose it's just the hype that surrounds transfer targets at times.

Remember felling somewhat similar when we signed David Templeton and can you believe it Fran Sandaza.

Reason being that, they were both linked with us when we we're still in the top flight and was surprised that we got both considering where we were at the time.

Remember fans comparing MOH to Neil McCann and Peter Lovenkrands when he signed.

Same with Garner. Fans saying Hately and McCoist had slow starts to their careers at the club.

Why do fans have to set these expectations unbelievably high?

Comparing MOH to McCann and Lovenkrands and comparing Garner to McCoist and Hately is unfair to say the least.

15 Oct 2016 14:19:23
Gosman i did say that regarding garner as i never hide even if i'm wrong but remember he's not been here long and the time to judge him is at the end of the season mate. It just goes to show, it took the great mark hateley a year to settle in at rangers which was of course due to injury as well as former!

15 Oct 2016 16:13:36
What chance has o'halloran when McKay starts every game, even if he's been rubbish.

15 Oct 2016 15:58:31
Signing him was a very foreseeable mistake. He's not in squad because he has offered very little when he has played, obviously not doing enough during training either.

See if st johnston would buy him back for 50k IMO.

15 Oct 2016 17:18:59
well we play 2 wingers mckay and mikey could play together.

16 Oct 2016 15:23:44
Wit? Give MOH and Garner a chance man. They'll come good. The reason he's not fitting in yet is because MW bought a million wingers. So there's a pecking order. Full squad now but come new year be missing a few with injuries etc and he'll come in and do a job.

Sell him back to St. Johnstone - geez peace man.

16 Oct 2016 17:14:28
Why is it such a bad idea?

15 Oct 2016 10:13:16
Decent result last night not an easy place to collect 3 points! Looking to next week I really hope we go with another holding player holt and niko can't both play against celtic! Warbs must get it right this time around! A strong midfield is crucial!

15 Oct 2016 11:47:58
If Warburton sticks with his usual formation, I can't see anything other than a Celtic victory.

15 Oct 2016 12:16:23
Tend to agree with the guys above in regards to our team selection against celtic in the semi next sunday. I'd personally like to see warbs playing a 4-2-3-1.Whats your thoughts on that formation bears? that's the easy part, the hard part is selecting which players we play in these positions!

15 Oct 2016 12:32:01
people get far too caught up in formations.

15 Oct 2016 14:22:43
Can't believe 'gers fans who don't rate kenny miller! He's a total pro and thoroughbred! The perfect role model for our young players and a future rangers manager imo.

15 Oct 2016 15:42:26
Good 3 pts last night at a tough venue - great to see the team battling for a much needed win and another clean sheet. Ok maybe not the best performance but as we all know, you need to be able to grind out 0-1 away from home.

Hope Rossiter's fit for Hampden as I agree with Nic we need to toughen up midfield and hold onto the ball better - I'd play Rossiter Halliday and one of either Holt or Kranjcar to give us better balance.

Not convinced Waghorn wide is working I like the lad but he's not a natural winger and isn't the quickest. Although our front 3 is meant to be flexible i didn't see him through middle once, so think he's wasted there. Windass is more direct so I'd play him and Makay either side of Miller.

15 Oct 2016 16:00:45
Good win against a team at a very similar level to us right now.

Just a shame Warburton wouldn't speak to bt after game. Very petty, and makes the Barton situation easy to understand.

Need a thick skin to be a rangers manager.

15 Oct 2016 17:19:36
we basically played last night without a striker waghorn stood wide and never moved while Miller tried to be a midfielder.

15 Oct 2016 18:01:44
I gave MOH the benefit for a while but after seeing him at every home game since he was signed I don't believe he has anything to offer us, seems to be clueless as how to play alongside a fullback like Tav who is pressing forward and I don't think he can complain about not starting games.

Garner just does not look as if he knows how to play in a team playing a passing game and his first touch on the ball is like big soo the happy coo I will give him more time but he maybe reacts like Diego Costa wants to fight with everyone but at least Diego scores goals, Sadly I doubt Garner will do that for us.

15 Oct 2016 20:20:27
nobody is scoring for us tho it's unfair just to pick out garner.

15 Oct 2016 09:44:52
Supercooper11. comparing Kranjar to pirlo is like comparing Scott brown to gazza! Yes he didn't have a bad game last night however I don't think he was anything special . Hopefully he will improve the more games he starts but r I think you are getting a tad over excited 😊.

15 Oct 2016 11:49:52
The comparison is a bit far fetched but Niko was exciting to watch last night. Best player on park by a country mile. He is a bit special. Don't know what game you were watching. Prob one of these guys that bash McKay in starting XI regardless.

15 Oct 2016 12:21:16
For gods sake guys, I'm not saying that niko is as good as pirlo, i'm saying he could do a similar job for us like pirlo did for the clubs he played for, honestly try and look beyond guys to totally understand what i was meaning when i made that positional comparison, of course i was meaning on a lesser scale!

15 Oct 2016 13:29:32
Try and explain yourself better Jobby McJobbyface. To avoid confusion :)

15 Oct 2016 14:25:04
Keep eating they pies as like them your full of mince my friend!

15 Oct 2016 09:35:02
Right so we've went over last nights game and gave our opinions. Now time for a laugh. Did anyone see that shot Waghorn had when he drove into the box in the second half and belted it with his RIGHT foot? My word. It was so bad I nearly pmsl. People ask why he always cuts in and uses his left foot. Well that's your answer.

Personally, I don't understand how you can play football nearly everyday of your life and be so bad with one of your feet. I just don't get it.

15 Oct 2016 09:54:31
I agree. As you say it should just take practice and it's not even hard! Giggs was one of the worst offenders, would always swivel 270 degrees rather than just use his right foot!

15 Oct 2016 12:33:20
yeah imagine gary neville playing football for 40 years and not being able to bend it like Beckham onto the top bin with his left foot.

what a ridiculous statement.

15 Oct 2016 13:35:40
Cee I don't think it is. Waghorn isn't just bad with his right foot. He's appalling. He had a shot from 6 yards at a 45 degree angle and hit it 45 degrees in the other direction. So bad it was laughable. No control over it whatsoever. Fortunately for Gary Neville, a defender, he doesn't need accuracy or precision when clearing a ball. But strikers/ attackers should have had least some control with both feet. They play football every day of their lives. I suppose that's the difference between a good player and a mediocre player. The willingness to improve their weaknesses.

16 Oct 2016 01:40:25
Cee, I am nowhere near even a junior level footballer and I can take shots with both feet better than that. Numan was the same. His right foot was only for standing on, he wouldn't even do a short pass with it. To be a professional footballer and not be able to use both feet is either disgraceful or sheer laziness on the training ground.

16 Oct 2016 21:45:31
The differences between Numan and Waghorn are Numan was a defender and they can get away with it. Attackers can't. Numan made up for it with an excellent and superb left foot. Waghorns strong foot is about average.

15 Oct 2016 08:28:33
I enjoyed the first half really good to watch. second we seemed to either take our foot off or caley got there act together. But am taking positives great first half and amazing goal.
Best bit last night though was when Joe Garner came on and my bird looked up from her tablet at the screen, turned to me and said 'when did Joe Swash join rangers? '

15 Oct 2016 09:46:13
We played our best football off the season in spells! Niko was class, the amount of times he won possession back was impressive and considering the improvement thus far, will be a legend in this team if he continues to build on this. Holt wasn't quite at his best but so industrious and Windass will provide good competition for him. Halliday getting better each week and we have great back up in Rossiter and Crooks. Wee baz getting criticism but his touch and ball carrying are vital! He needs to better his decision making and add some aggression but I saw him win a header last night for the first time so hopefully a step in the right direction. Only negative for me was Waggy was a bit impotent again, to be fair he didn't play badly but Dodoo would stretch the opposition more which would lead to more goals!

15 Oct 2016 09:57:43
Another thing, why does Joe Garner constantly hold his head like he's bn hooked off Mike Tyson everytime he gets tackled🤔.

15 Oct 2016 05:12:42
Awrite gers

Atlantic league sounds appealing, but do we really have the money to sustain ourself and our club there?

Rumours are we are struggling to get around Scotland never mind flying the boys around Europe.

Do we really want teams coming to our stadium when let's just say it could do with a wee spruce up?

Anyway if we can carry on like nothing has happened and we are still a force to be reckoned with am all for it.

It's a risk, but we have been taking risks for years some legit, some not so.

Anyway, I would like it to involve four teams from Scotland and each country, example gerz celts deens and jambos.

The one who finishes with least amount a points out the four comes back to Scotland, and the team that finishes first in Scotland switches places.

Im thinking outside the box but we really need something to change, I have never seen so many demoralized fans with outrageous expectations in all ma time at Ibrox.

15 Oct 2016 09:44:00
Or we could just stay in Scotkand and work together to fix the system and the product. Then bring in investment. Remember that in the 90s there wasn't a huge difference in monetary value between EPL and SPL.

15 Oct 2016 10:04:54
Dunno why u got 3 disagrees blueblood! Your only telling the truth, I for one are worried about our beloved ibrox and your relegation back to domestic league idea is decent!

16 Oct 2016 01:43:13
I think the point of the Atlantic league Bluenlood would be that there would be a lot more money involved through TV and sponsorship than is available in the SPFL. So if we are in it then we would be able to afford travel etc.

18 Oct 2016 07:39:37
i doubt it would be paid right away.

anyway celtic would maybe grab 3/ 4th we would be middle table at best.

anyway we need to remember where we are and why, we had the good years when we could of been euro champs, the frogs ****ed us.

now we are suffering because of years of cheeating by men in suits.

we will be back stronger than before, hopefully before tne ina row.

15 Oct 2016 05:03:02
Congratulations to Kenny Miller. Great player and servant to our club. Had the pleasure of meeting him at the casino on two occasions and he is a top bloke. He is all the youth players need for inspiration and guidance. Joey Barton was meant to offer these qualities and let the club, the fans and our players most shockingly our rising stars down. The evidence is damning. So let's get back to the form of last season and enjoy winning matches like the last to games with our capable squad of good pro's.

15 Oct 2016 07:17:10
The form of last season? Hope you're joking. It tailed off around January. I agree with your praise of Miller but a fact's a fact and he's 36, good but well past his best and we should wake up to that. Must admit I don't know if Garner is the answer and his play acting and faking fouls is annoying. Maybe Warburton doesn't know that's not the Rangers way and it's okay down south but Weir should. To me that's worth more of a suspension from the club than Barton got and Barton's only crime is too much passion.

15 Oct 2016 08:13:11
Congrats to Kenny he deserves to join the 100 club. Legend.

15 Oct 2016 09:46:55
Kfraser, Barton is a tool. End of. Secondly, Miller played his best football in the latter stages of last season as he had to step in for an injured Waghorn. Prior to that he came off the bench in games.

15 Oct 2016 15:26:05
Very well done kenny on scoring your 100th goal for rangers. You now join an elite club. What a role model and total professional kenny miller is. Still at 36 years old he's the top striker at rangers! I've also met him and he's a top bloke. Kenny miller is now a glasgow rangers legend! Totally convinced kenny miller will be the rangers manager one day.

15 Oct 2016 01:02:10
I know I sound like a broken record but if the reports are true and Barton's suspicion has been extended again then OMG sort it out been dragging on long enough, personal out midfield is looking better wothout him but to drag it on for this long is wrong no matter what anyone thinks he's stay a human being with rights!

15 Oct 2016 06:30:40
This drama is giving us bad press, making us look school boy in terms of managing a troublesome player and at the same time we are wasting a reported 15/ 20k a week on him when we could at least be using him in the squad.

15 Oct 2016 08:14:29
As far as the statement goes his ban was extended at his request this time.

15 Oct 2016 09:09:58
He never asked for his ban to be extended, he asked the SFA for an extension to go over paperwork given to him by the SFA regarding his gambling charge. its the club that has extended his ban, again! its a shambles, its needs sorted now, we are fast becoming a laughing stock!

15 Oct 2016 21:34:09
There is something called'law' whether it be legal commercial or employment. Rangers are keeping themselves right by extending the 'holding' position until it's time to proceed to the next step.
Get a grip guys, the days of kicking someone out the door disappeared before Thatcher!
(Of course some of you might not remember her LOL! )
