The manager has said he wants to sign players he knows and since Paterson has been injured long before he took over then I doubt very much he would have considered him. Would agree he would be a good signing far better than the hopeless Tavernier

I would add graham dorrans and kenny mclean to that list, neil coulter and i'd be happy also! In saying that i do think we need bruno alves and another centre half!

yes supercooper, we do need alves and another cb and make wilson work a lot lot lot harder to get anywhere near a starting spot as he has been dire all year and i'd like to get rid of kiernan along with the two old men.
i thank hill for his service but he just wasn't good enough none of the defence was

Really struggling to understand why alves isn't pleasing anyone, the man is a winner international and at club level a central defender playing in italy where the worls best centre halfs play there game but the same people who want to keep clint hill are saying that he is too old.

Yes 7 league titles and 5 other cups in 3 different leagues zenit payed 22million for him. He played every game at the 2010 and 2014 world cups and every game at Euro 2012 along Side Real Madrids Pepe and played in the euro 2016 semi final and is due to be part of Portugals squad for this summers confederations cup. He has just played 36games for Calgari in the Italian top flight. If anybody says he is not good enough knows nothing about football because to say he would be a bad signing it's just utterly ridiculous!

spot on deano bear - one thing you can't level at alves is his experience and credentials which are second to none.
At his age, to have played 30+ games for Cagliari in Serie A shows his fitness levels
Ok i can see some bears not wanting to sign a 35yr old because he is too old with no re-sale value but a 2yr deal wld bring in a wealth of experience and help us re-build
Any issues over player being past it just need to look at our 2 best performers this season hill and miller both over 35 and obv not forgetting Sir Davy

Lower level Italian club? he is playing in the Italian top flight and they are currently 12th he has played almost every game for them this season against the likes of AC Milan, inter, juventus, lazio, Roma, fiorentina, Napoli and less than a year ago he was playing in a Euro semi final how could anybody say they would not take him? hill and wier played well for us and we're older than him and Bruno alves is a whole level above them two. I really Can't believe people who don't want him It's utterly mind boggling. Who would you prefer at centre half then spurs 1984?

Spurs 1974,if you're telling me that bruno alves wouldn't be a tremendous signing for us then i'm afraid, as far as i'm concerned you've obviously not seen bruno alves playing! This centre half is exactly what we're crying out for! This guy is a rock, a total winner in every sense! By the way he's not 32 he's 35 years old! He plays in the Italian league where you need to be a good centre half and of course he is!

A friend of mine who works at the training complex in the kitchen. Told me the only ones who know who, the gaffer wants to sign is his close team and the senior management team. He doesn't talk to anyone about other players and all these rumours of this from players etc is nonsense as the boss plays everything close to himself. Just thought I would share. He had asked everyone any ideas on new players etc and he gets his head bitten off from a number of players.

He's pish, slow and an average passer. I know he generally plays as a CDM so pace not as important as other positions. I'm a big fan of Liverpool and watch the majority of their games and although he has a couple of recent assists he's generally mediocre

Agree with you glasgowranger-living in a family of Reds I see most of Liverpool's games. Lucas has had a few starts recently due to Liverpool's injury problems. Like you say he is slow and a poor tackler-almost always a guaranteed booking even when on as a late sub. Not someone I'd feel we've missed out on if he goes to the other mob.

Agree Falkirkger people got to remember this is the Scottish league he will be coming to he may look average at times in the English premiership but he would be a quality midfielder up hear. We are in no position to turn are noses up to a player of his standard.

Sorry Falkirk Ger but Lucas being a major performer/ coup? Have you seen him play recently? Every Red I know will be glad to see him go! He may be better than our present midfield but that's not saying much, is it? Anyway our current midfield will either be gone (Toral) or squad players at most if they stay. So is Lucas a better player than Rossi ter, Kranjcar or the likes of Jack if we sign him. I'd say definitely not. If he goes to Celtic he would be about the level of Bitton who I'd say is their poorest regular midfielder. Like I said my Red supporting friends and family said"Celtic are welcome to him! "

Jaap stam has brought a few in to Reading who seem to have done well. He would probably be able to attract the rough diamonds with a decent budget and with him being a Dutch legend. We need to get our finger out our RS and get a proper scouting in place. The Scandinavian and Dutch markets are full of decent players who we could attract and afford.
