Been thinking of the pulling power of our club. Steven Gerrard, a world famous footballing icon and arguably the best midfield player of a generation. Jermaine Defoe, although getting on a bit the quality is there for all to see. Links to players like Sturridge etc. All the while across the city it is Neil Lennon and knock backs from David Turnball. Interesting.

One of our two biggest advantages this season appears to be Celtic penny pinching and having Lennon as a manager. Long ball galore and any serious player will not want to play for him. I can�t see him finishing the season at Celtic.

So Rangers have CONCLUDED deals for Davis, Hastie, Stewart and Jones. Edmunson is still ongoing and we are favourites to land Aribo.
Meanwhile Celtic have had contract offers REJECTED by Izaguire, Lustig, Turnbull and more than likely Aribo will only the guy who was struggling at Hibs signed a deal that was offered in a shower and he took a good week to accept and you think because you managed to agree a fee for a Motherwell player you are big time?
If you honestly don�t think Rangers can afford �3m for a player you are in for a big shock this window. The difference is we have got our fringe boys in already so don�t need to panic and throw �3m for 1. We will spend �3m if we are interested in a player that is worth that value, we have almost completed all our squad players and will sign 2 more 1st tram players before end of window.

Was reading this morning that rangers have been inandated with enquiries about our captain james tavernier. Like we all know money talks, as supposedly rangers have put a valuation of at least �10million on tav, for any interested clubs, wishing to buy him. The biggest losses to rangers imo, would be if either tav or scotty arfield are sold. They for me would undoubtedly be the hardest to replace. Like i said money does talk but i'd still be absolutely gutted, if tav or arfield are sold,
James tavernier has to be easily one of the fittest footballers in british football, as he has an engine to die for. The guy is a total athlete and superb modern day right full back. I just can't for the life of me understand why a good few of our supporters don't rate tav. They will only realise how good he is, when he's gone. Be careful what you wish for tav haters. Before its again said, i know he's not the greatest defender, but has improved in that department a lot last season. But if for a minute you look around at all the modern day full backs of any league,
they are all geared and much better going forward, than defending. that's just the way the game is now guys. Tav IS by far the best right back in scottish football and out of all the full backs in scottish football imo, only kieran tierney is arguably better than tav!
Actually most of tav's stats are way superior to tierney's! Fact!

You lost me a �10m coops, I�ll run about Ibrox naked if we get close to that value. half of us want rid of him due to his poor positioning and lack of concentration, the other half think he�s Cafu. he�ll go for no more than �4m (which I�d still be shocked at) or he�ll stay and have another reasonable season. He�ll be involved in marginally more goals than he costs us.

Katic, everyone is entitled to their opinion and in my opinion, you don�t have a clue about what makes a good footballer.

Tav is rated very highly by every professional who has voiced an opinion. Our manager rates him and has backed him as captain.

Time for you to wake up and smell the coffee - you can believe the world is flat but the rest of us know that the experts and facts and stats say otherwise.

I fully understand what makes a good footballer however you don�t pay �10m for a good footballer, you pay that for an excellent footballer something Tav is not (good yes excellent no) . In Scotland we�ve had c.7 players who have went for more than �10m (excluding real terms as I can�t be bother working out the true transfer value for everybody) . All these players were under the age of 25 with an average age of 23, Tav is 28 this year and this will likely be his big move (I. e if he moves the club will lose money on the transfer) . I believe 11 of his 14 goals were penalties? If so then a purchasing club will not consider these within the price as most clubs will have a penalty taker. In a poor league he has a good number of assists and again his scored 3 (possibly 4) which will increase his value a bit. Most importantly for a right back is his defensive awareness, positioning, concentration and tackling, these are attributes with Tav is not great at and in some cases he�s average (positioning and tackling for example) . Clubs will consider this when determine the offer value and as such I believe �4m would actually benefit us. Again remember guys this is poorly my opinion however I believe there is logic to why I�d suggest a value of �4m, I look forward to any replies which can prove why it should be higher. Remember your best player isn�t always your captain.

Lets be realistic here.
Tav is a decent RB, no more. To say he is the best in Scotland, well that wouldn't be hard.
�10 million? well that is small money down south and a 10 million RB is not EPL material.
He is more than good enough for us up here against moderate players but would be found wanting down south.
If you think otherwise then you are kidding yourself on.

Am i a Tav hater? no because i want him to stay but i am not accepting that he is a class act.

People on here only focus on Tavs poor games and some of his weaker attributes. What about the games where he has been exceptional (more often than not) and his better attributes? I believe Tav is middle to upper class championship level. Bottom prem at a push. So, two questions. Is Tav not that level? And is 10m unreasonable for a good championship level full back?

There's a small percentage of our supporters who don't rate tav and like everyone they're entitled to their opinions, but you're miles off saying 50% of our supporters don't rate tav or want him sold! Don't agree with you whatsoever mate, simple as that.

I take it you surely rate scotty arfield? I myself rate arfield very highly. So taking into account arfield is now 30 years old and there's rumoured to be southampton and other clubs interested in arfield, how much do you think he's worth and what's the least sum of money we should accept for him, if he were sold?

Yeah I tend rarely to agree with you coops but I do value your opinion. I�m not saying we�ll sell him for �4m only that nobody will pay more for him and therefore he�ll stay and win us marginally more games than he loses. I�m not focusing on his negative attributes, just the important ones for a right back. I get the impression Tav is happy here and I suspect he�ll be here for a good few seasons yet.

What is interesting is you choose to focus on the through away comment of 50% of people not rating him rather than the reasoning behind the �4m value. I wonder why that was LOL?

You're entitled to what you think of tav mate, but nothing you can post regarding tav will change my thinking on our captain. For a player of tav's stats in scottish football for any english club interested in buying him again i'll state incase you're not grasping what i'm meaning, they would be prepared to pay a lot more than your paltry �4million for him, we'll just wait and see who's correct on this one.
An example is that the other mob would be hoping to fetch anything around �15-�20million for their left back kieran tierney. Tav blows away tierney in most of their stats agreed? So try and understand where i'm coming from in my valuation in this day and age, of james tavernier. Remember i'm judging 2 full backs who ply their trade in SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.

Arfield was our best player last season imo, at 30 year old and playing in Scotland I�d suggest he is also with no more than �4m. Personally I think it would be suicide to sell Arfield and if we need to raise funds I�d let both Tav and Morelos go before Arfield.

DK19 - my opinion was backed up with some fairly high level numbers and insight to why I believe �4m is the max a team would be willing to pay. What about you, anything to back up �10m or is your gut just telling you have a word with yourself mate, it one person has put forward even a flimsy argument to why you think he�s work more? My sides are hurting with laughter at most of you on here! If he leaves the transfer fee will be closer to �4m than �10m. �10m honestly you couldn�t make this up!

season ticket renewed, signed up to the full bhuna for all non league matches, away games, friendlies, semi finals and finals and as luck would have it, I miss the first three friendlies as I am off with the wife kids and grandkids to Florida. bummer or what!

Seriously, whatever the transfer window brings, I am totally buzzing for the season to start. I am hoping my luck takes a wee change for the better as I will be 55 on January and hope I am wearing 55 on my shirt for two reasons.
Doesn't really seem that long ago since we were at rock bottom and I am delighted with our progress. and still we follow on.
