What exactly has charles green done wrong?. I am very unhappy with walter smith and his gang, some rangers fans are really dumb by not getting season tickets. He stepped up to the plate when we needed someone. I'm not saying he is not trying to make money but it is time to move forward, IF U LOVE THE CLUB WALTER AND THE GANG GET INVOLVED.

Ed thanks for answering question @ 19:36.
Did it not take 7 months for dirt to come out for whyte.
Greens previous ventures are on paper no worse than whytes.
A)a director of a insolvent company can not hold a position for 7 years

suurely it is no differant {Ed001's Note - except that Green has a proven track record of not being a good owner of a football club. He made a bit of a mess in Sheffield.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I just want to say, rangers might or might not be better off with walter smith,or charles green . i dont know . but right or wrong ,charles green has paid money to keep rangers going where no one else has.all of them are in it for profit, not for the club. so if anyone is truly interested in rfc. pay charles green £20 million, like you should have for a cva,or let him get on with it !

Agree5 Disagree2

So does Kennedy Ed but he was the saviour on here for months! Look where he got Stockport. {Ed001's Note - good point.}

Listen TRFC fans. You cannot have it both ways ! You say the newco will have the oldco history. But then you argue the wrongs of the oldco cannot be visited upon the newco as the oldco no longer exists. What is it to be ? Go on , enlighten me !

Believable15 Unbelievable3

We'll enlighten you as soon as you enlighten us as to what way the Celtic fans want it? Similarly we can't lose our history and be punished.

Agree5 Disagree6

If TRFC do not retain the history of RFC, will you and your mob still hate us as if we did?

The Rangers FC now hold all the cards. If they do not get into the SPL in their terms then they are free to apply for either the Northern Irish, English, Welsh FA.

In doing so then sky will pull the plug on the SPL.

Smart move by Mr Green in omitting any reference to Scotland in the newco's name.

Believable10 Unbelievable13

No they can't, UEFA will NOT ALLOW it. How many times do they need to say it. And even if it was possible they would have seven years in lower leagues, how many would fancy away day at Yoevil?

Agree9 Disagree4

I'd rather an away day at Yeovil in the knowing it could one day be an away day at Manchester United, than an away day at East Striling leading to playing Hibs.

If the fans dont renew season books the newco will fail and the fans will be responsible. Think about it

Personally I am 100% confident that Rangers will be contesting SPL fixtures next season.
It's a dead cert. Put simply, money talks. And louder than anyone else.
Whether fair or unfair. Whatever your stance on integrity, You can bet your house on this happening.
And the media (TV, Radio, Tabloids) will LOVE this because of the controversy involved.
The alternatives just don't weigh up to scrutiny.
Sure, everyone will hate Rangers when this happens.
What better premise for livening up a new SPL campaign.
At the end of the day, yes right now supporters all over the country want Rangers to be punished. But that is completely my point.
The SPL is a pantomime at best. Has been for years. But the best thing to get bums on seats at any pantomome - is to have a villain that everybody loves to hate.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

Sad day when money more important than 'integrity' .Was it Bob Dylan said 'Money doesn't talk,it shouts'?He got that right. What a world.

Agree5 Disagree1

Integrity as we know it has been gone from SPL for years now so enough of the whingeing please and move on.

When are we [ Rangers supporters ] going to understand that due to the mis-management by murray and his gang of thieves we are, to say the least, vulnerable. Green seized an opportunity to steal the club and then comes along Walter Smith with his plan to save us. A total joke. He was not there when it mattered most and his last ditch comments have only made matters worse.
If the SPL vote goes against us forget about Scottish football and the only way forward is what? The third division, think in the real world as that is not viable or practical.
Ibrox will become a Tesco or similar and Green will walk away with a few million.

Believable10 Unbelievable10

Rst are a joke, Who are they to tell me not to buy a season ticket? Also who elected various spokesmen to talk on behalf of the real fans.

Agree5 Disagree2

When are people going to stop posting this hysterical nonsense, for starteres the main stand at Ibrox is a grade one listed building it can NEVER be torn down to build housing or a supermarket.

Secondly the spl won't vote against Rangers, even if they did the sfl would not. Be like winning Euromillions for them, sky or any other t.v company could pick up the rights to show Rangers games for next to nothing bringing in extra sposnership for teams kits so that company names would be shown on t.v.

Also 2 home games against Rangers would generate enough money to run some sfl clubs for years.

Agree2 Disagree3

2#It is only a c list building, that means listed as a sporting venue.

Agree1 Disagree2

Main front stand at Highbury also a listed building...and is now flats!

Agree4 Disagree1

You seem like one of the rare ones that know who killed your club, that being DM and all your legends. i guess it hurts too much for you fans to say or acknowledge eh?

Before I am hammered for being anti Walter, can I just say NO ONE would be happier than me if he got control of Rangers. However, I would be a lot happier if he and his group explained their timing in this. Don't know about you guy's but I have had my fill of half truths and down right lies. Me, you and everyone in the civilised world has known of Rangers plight for months now so why the delay? If it's down to cash, fine, but tell us and let's get this new era off to an honest and open start... By the way, not sure why there is so much hostility against Mr Green. Without him we would now be defunct, kinda underlines my point about Walter...

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Walter probably didn't want to be associated with liquidation if the money wasn't there for a CVA and they can get it cheaper now than if they'd bid weeks ago.

Agree7 Disagree1

It wasn't just the CVA that was the problem the club was losing money every day and then there was the tax case as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter just didn't want the stigma to taint him---being involved in the liquidation would never be forgotten in the old or new history.Smart move or cowardly?---depends on your view.

Agree5 Disagree0

#3 - Nothing to do with being tainted. Oh sarcastic one. Everyone asking how Jim McColl or anyone else never came in earlier.
Ask Donald Trump,Paul Murray,Brian Kennedy,Bill Miller,Bill Ng etc.
The debt was too big,and too many unknown factors. What do you think would have happened if someone paid £20-25 million,HMRC accepted it,old club saved, then got hit with BTC/EBT bill?

Hi ed, just a question. Do we have to change our badge and or strip now we are a newco? also, are sponsors i.e tennents and umbro still bound to us? cheers. {Ed039's Note - I dont know, I would think the badge would need to change as there maybe something in insolvency laws about not being allowed to pass yourself as another/previous company, the sponsors is somehing that Mr Green will need to let us know in due course as shirts etc are still on sale at stores, although I believe any shirts sold just now would go to the administrators and into the creditors pot and the newco wouldnt see them just yet)

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Shirt sales proceedings will just go to Umbro as they probably just pay the club a lump sum per season.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed badge needs to change forientina had to change theres but bought it back after 2 years as thats what they could do dont know if u can do that in scotland tho

Agree1 Disagree0

@Ed039 the badge does not need to change it's a trademark of Rangers fc and was bought over when the assets were transfered. The kit Rangers brought out at the end of the season is the one Rangers will wear at the start of the new one be it whatever league we are in. most likely the spl. The sponsership deal Rangers have with a drinks company will countinue as well they had their logo on the advertising board behind Green when he had his press conerence yesterday as did the sportswear company that sell Rangers kits. {Ed039's Note - OK)

Oh well clubs will only lose up to 40% of they're entire income if Rangers are not in the spl. Thats good to know, they can rest easy now?

Only problem is clubs will still be contracted to pay players 100% of the wages they are on now with 40% less income.

The spl is financial mess right now some clubs can't lose 4% of what they make now never mind 40%.

The banks will make the decision to vote Rangers back in not the clubs or fans, the days of these guys looking the other way while football clubs run up big debts are gone.

Hearts, Dundee utd and Kilmarnock are almost £50m in debt between them if they lost 40% of what they make now they would be shut down, that's not opinion just plan fact.

Look at whats going on in the world right now no one much less a Football club can lose up to 40% of what they earn at the minute.

The future of Rangers in the Scottish Premier League is in doubt until a vote on the admission of a newco is heard. Pic: © STV
The Scottish Premier League is considering replacing Rangers with "Team X" when they publish their fixture list for the 2012/13 season.

STV understands the schedule, which will be released on Monday morning, could reflect the current ambiguity over whether Charles Green's new company will be granted the club's member share of the league to participate in the competition.

The SPL declined to comment on whether the fixture list will exclude Rangers when asked by STV on Friday afternoon.

The current holder of the share in the league, the now Rangers oldco operated by administrators Duff and Phelps, had been given a deadline of Friday to submit overdue accounts in order to fulfill membership criteria for next season.

The SPL also declined to comment on whether those had been received, while also not confirming whether an application for Green's newco share transfer had been submitted.

Why should green step aside after doing all the hard work and paying the fees so that the ue rangers men can take over. Walter has known the trouble we a in from day one and chose to wait until it wa too late to step in. Where was he at the start. He should have joined with the blue knights and maybe prevented liquidation. He just does not want to be associated with the liquidation but wants the glory of saving us. No thanks Walter. Thanks for the memories but you are now just unsettling everything. Ask your self this bears. Do you think if we are to go down to division 3 Walter et all will still be fighting to take over! No, me neither.

For all walter is a legend n the notion of the club being run by "rangers men" is appealing.....right now its not what we need. we need a man at the helm who can make the tough decisions that may not be popular with fans but for the good of the club business wise. loved his quote "i didnt stab dave bassett in the back, i stabbed him in the chest".....this is the kinda guy who isnt out to make friends, purely to run a profitable business. These guys at the trust want to back walter......why not back the man who's pushed for a conclusion to this mess n finally got it now?? Bill miller was given an easy out after the banner displayed at ibrox n it seems as though some fans are intent on scarring guys off before they've been given a chance. the arrogance of the trust to encourage us not to renew our season tickets is ridiculious, what will this actually achieve? If smith walks away from his bid will these same fans still refuse to renew?? Instead of backing a bid purely down to sentiment......back the man who's in place NOW!!!!

I know I'm going to get shot down in flames with this suggestion, but here I go. I don't see the point of going down to sfl 3 coming back to SPL in 4 years to the same old same old so how about this. Under the wing of uefa the setting up of a European league system where teams from other struggling leagues( struggling in terms of tv money and competition)(
portugal, holland,Belgium,Austria ect) form a top league of the two or three biggest teams with the other teams forming another 4 leagues below them, with a two up two down relegation, promotion and 3rd bottom play off against 3rd top. The country's other leagues would continue with who ever wins say 1st division plays off against other countries 1st division winners plus bottom of new European league 4th division club for spot in the European league system. All clubs would still play in their countries cup comps. I would also like to take some of the league games to other countries to increase the exposure of the new league and have games played in summer as to not clash with Epl games. I know there might be a few logistical problems to start with, but it would be a hell of a lot more competitive than we have right now. Forgot to say the top clubs from each country would still get entry in to champions and Europa cups. So there you are let me know what you thing and please look at the bigger picture.

div 3 sounds better than the spl to me...
After much discussion it seems to have come down to Rangers being allowed to stay in the SPL with a points deduction versus demotion to Division 3. We make no judgements in this article but what if the Ibrox giants WERE relegated to the basement of the SF
Should Rangers go down to Division Three, play-off losers Stranraer and Airdrie Utd would surely find themselves promoted along with the team finishing second in Division One last term. A promotion for Stranraer would see Rangers facing the following clubs in Scottish League Division 3 in 2012/13 if they were voted out of the SPL.

QUEENS PARK: This would effectively be Rangers main 'derby' match if the nightmare scenario of SFL football was to become a reality for the Ibrox faithful next season. An away day at Hampden wouldn't be too painful an experience for Rangers fans and two league matches there may also constitute demos against the SFA by Gers fans still smarting from any decision to reduce them to 3rd Division competitors.

CLYDE: Broadwood would be well filled for what was once a regular 'derby' match for the Gers in the 50's, 60's and early 70's when Clyde played out of Rutherglen. Former Rangers hero Graham Roberts led The Bully Wee to Scottish Cup glory over Celtic at Cumbernauld not so long ago. Maybe the ex-England and Spurs man could return for the visits to Clyde to conduct the Rangers faithful as he infamously did in an Old Firm match in the 80's.

BERWICK RANGERS: Much has been made of TV companies being unwilling to buy into a major Old Firm power playing outside the Premier League in Scotland but four games with Berwick would make fascinating viewing for some neutrals. The borderers, also known as 'The Wee Rangers', inflicted the most embarrassing defeat of the Govan men's 140 year history in 1967 when they beat them 1-0 in a Scottish Cup tie thanks to a goal from Sammy Reid. The historical significance of this game alone with the tables turned and a possibly inexperienced Glasgow Gers outfit looking to make their mark might prompt highlights at least from a satellite broadcaster.

STIRLING ALBION: The club relegated from Division 2 last season last met Rangers in the league in the 1960's but this trip to the historical city that was the stomping ground of William Wallace is within striking distance of Glasgow. Another SFL club from the central belt that would benefit greatly from the financial clout of Rangers fans on an away day in unfamiliar territory.

ELGIN CITY: They once gave Celtic a fright in the Scottish Cup but the Highlanders might be pinching themselves if they had to face Rangers four times in the league in 2012/13. That is something you could never have predicted as being even close to reality when City gained admission to the SFL from the Highland League at the turn of the century.

MONTROSE: The Links Park club might ask for their home league matches against a demoted Rangers to be played at Pittodrie. It would certainly be an all ticket affair if Rangers came to the wee Angus town twice in 2012/13.

PETERHEAD: The Blue Noses visiting 'The Bloo Toon' would certainly provide a story for the media. The Aberdeenshire town of Peterhead and the local Football Club is nicknamed The Bloo Toon after the blue socks or 'mogganers' once worn by local fishermen. Rangers might actually find themselves with more local support than they expected in this corner of the North East 30 miles or so from Aberdeen. Balmoor stadium entertained Celtic in the cup last season and locals would almost certainly be excited by the other half of the Old Firm being available twice in the new season for league matches at Balmoor.

EAST STIRLINGSHIRE: Currently playing at Stenhousemuir but the Falkirk club founded in the town's suburb of Bainsford were created in 1881 as BAINSFORD BRITANNIA. This might raise a smile amongst a Rangers support coming to terms with a season in the basement of Scottish League football.

ANNAN ATHLETIC: A border outpost that might make Michael Kelly cringe. The former Celtic director said in support of continued Old Firm matches next season ''who wants to go to Dumfries or Brechin?'' during STV's recent on air debate 'Rangers-The Downfall'. We presume he was referring to the likes of Annan as well.

Reports last year that Celtic would be willing to start in League 1 or 2 to gain entry to English football obviously means that the likes of Rochdale and Accrington are preferable to some of the SFL's 'outposts' as far as Michael is concerned. All of the above SFL clubs would certainly benefit financially from any vote to demote Rangers to Div Three....jsm

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Would there be a vote to DEMOTE Rangers to Div 3? I thought that as a newco you would need to APPLY to get into the league. This being the case, Spartand and Cove Rangers might have something to say about it. After all, they have been in the Scottish Cup for a few years, this newco has NOTHING. Nothing but a bucket full of arrogance that got you where you are now. {Ed039's Note - Yes if/when newco are required to start in Div 3 they would need to apply and invitations to apply would be open to other clubs also)

Meanwhile Traynor and Jackson ran morning stories designed to urge the fans against Green. Ally resigning on Newco first day is exactly what they wanted.
Jim McColl is trying to be the new mafia don now david Murray has left a void, using Murrays old tricks. The lapdogs only work for serious money, hundreds of millions. Now David Murray is gone, they've no closeness to Green so they fawn over McColl and get in on his agenda. Dirty dirty stuff, Ally can no longer trust the old guard, especially Walter.

Maybe someone can answer me this one. Why have Walter Smith and co making an audacious bid now to buy Rangers. Why didn't they do this before Rangers were liquidated, consider this, was it so that Green and Whyte would take all the Flak for liquidating Rangers and Smith could come charging in as the saviour?

Rangers fans go on about Rangers need to be in the hands of Rangers men, well Rangers were in the hands of do called Rangers men in the guise of David Murray and Craig Whyte and look what happened.

Rangers supporters stop being so gullible and naive, Walter Smith could have saved your club and preserved your history but chose not to, in order to get the club on the cheap, wake up and smell the pheremones or have a day off will you's {Ed039's Note - They didnt want to be the names associated with the liquidation of the club)

These guys are not stupid. If they are only bidding how there will be a reason for this. Perhaps the whole thing is just a bit of PR. The liquidators can challenge the valuation of the assetts to make sure the maximum amount is realised for the creditors.

You can say Charlie Green bought the assetts and put his money up, but nobody else had a chance, and if the Duffers undervalued it, which they clearly have, then the assetts can be recalled by law and auctioned to the highest bidder.

I cannot believe the mentality of some people...honestly, it beggars belief.

Charlie, Duffers, Blue Knights, anyone you care to think of who mentioned a CVA has and is talking pure p***.

Even if 40p 50p 70p in the pound was offered, and accepted.

Great, out of administration at a cost of what...12..15..20m, then the day after that.

The 'big' tax case goes against us, and BANG...Liquo and the CVA dosh down the tubes, and don't talk about HMRC deals, because they have proved...'no deal'
It had to be a newco route 100%, unless the big tax case went for us before that, but with no result, what kind of maniac would have pitched money to a cva to go bust the next day.
Green never tried to get a cva and neither would blue knights or anybody.

20..30..50..100 mill, is loose change to jim mc coll, so why do you think he never even put his name to anything until it was all cleaned up an a newco sitting there.

He could have got a cva over the line easily, but the big one was sitting there waiting, behind it.

Buying it on the cheap!---they hope.I agree the whole thing is a disgrace and yet again, does football no favours. It all could have been saved and the grief a lot less.Never feel the same now

Agree7 Disagree2

Not correct! the big tax case liablities would be included in the CVA and the pot diluted according to the outcome of the case. It would have taken atleast £30million to get a CVA seriously considered, but even then HMRC might have refused if they were after Murry and Whyte. The implication of having BDO going through Rangers accounts is very bad news for Murry and the whole of his group. People forget that it is not just Rangers but his entire group tthat was using EBTs. The bill for Rangers is about £50 million. I wonder what the liability for the rest of the group will be ?

The issue was the value of tradition and history versus the value of the debt and money men ain't history men. History isn't worth a penny to them.

Keep hearing about Aberdeen supporters shouting about sporting integrity and we should be relegated, will they be joining us? Did they not miss relegation when the league was reformed, come and join us then. Also Dundee as a replacement for Rangers in the SPL have they not been in administration twice?

Believable9 Unbelievable5

You all say it's only Celtic supporters who were angry but maybe now you realise the intense feelings that are there about your club, negative feelings from just about every other club---ask WHY,change and maybe this time around you won't be 'disliked' quite so much.It would all be worth it then!

Dundee have been in admin twice but they've served their punishment so why should that count against them?

Ed, the next big hurdle for Green is the SFA tribunal, has there been a date set for this? Greens statement today that he will be at Rangers if it's SPL SFL or if we have nowhere to play for a season Exhibition games makes me think the SFA will diffuse the whole situation by banning Rangers for 1 season and Green is aware of this! {Ed039's Note - No date set yet although Mr Green has asked for resolution on all outstanding situations ASAP so he can proceed with a business plan)

question to all the Celtic fans out there

you keep bleating on about how the newco should be punished may i ask you punished for what? you say our history stopped the day the newco was formed and that that the newco has nothing to do with Rangers fc and their history but on the other hand you want the newco to be punished for the sins of Rangers fc.

well bhoys you really need to make your mind up either the newco and Rangers are the same team with 140 years of history and therefore punishment is due and we will take it on the chin ( otherwise do a tony mobery) or they are two completely different entity's which means the newco should be allowed to go about their business without further prejudiced or sanctions.

bit of a dilemma for you bhoys punish us and we are still the most successfully team in the world and you will be chasing us forever more

or newco no punishment and we are able to compete on equal terms debt free and we would probably still reach 60 league titles before you

now remember the old saying bhoys you cant have your cake and eat it

Lochaber Bear

Believable11 Unbelievable9

I completely agree 100%.

You either stay as Rangers and be punished accordingly, or you are recognised as a completely new club and as such apply to join the west of scotland league so you can create the required 3 years off accounts and then apply to the SFL/SFA for membership.

I must say it is refreshing to hear a rangers supporter talking sense.

Good luck with you and your team with whatever off these scenarios transpires.

Red Devil

Agree6 Disagree3

No one is saying the newco should be punished. However as a newco you don't have automatic entry into the SPL or the SFL. You can only play in these leagues with the approval of their members. Newco are already excluded from European football for three years which is probably academic anyway. There is no dilemma for Celtic fans regarding TRFC or whatever your next name will be.
Liah Smit

Agree6 Disagree4

Bit of a stupid post with no grasp of facts. The question of punishment is if you are allowed into the SPL.As things stand you should apply to the SFL for a place in the third div.If thats what transpires then that, for me,is that.Punishment done and move on.On a personal level,i think thats what should happen as allowing newco in to the SPL,with sanctions,is wrong. Its uaing newco as a cash cow and that does not sit well with me

Agree3 Disagree2

You still dont get it, We were always called The Rangers FC and still are all thats happened is the plc has dropped of the end due to change in co

not a rumour but a question? Can anyone answer me this ? Ranger's and Craig whyte were found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and we all know what happened next ...so my question is ..Will this still apply to the new company or will the charges be dropped as was the debt ?? Surely the new company cannot be responsible for something the old company did ? Will the Sfa still be able to bring the newco up on charges that the old company was found guilty for?? {Ed039's Note - Yes the potential punishments would be attached the share that Rangers FC had in the league, the same share that The Rangers FC are applying for)

People on here saying get behind Charles Green. Just like we were all to get behind Craig Whyte - look were that ended up. If we had acted on all our suspicions back then instead of hoping for the best we might not be in this situation. Im sorry I dont trust Charles Green his comments from the very word go have been so unconvincing - I have been a season ticket holder for years and my father even longer, now my son is coming with us to the games and there will be no renewal under his stewardship its time we took a stand against his so called investors and him before its to late. When he realises there is no money to be made out of us he will be out the door as quick as he came in.

Its time we all got behind the leader we have been looking for - Back Walter!

Have been reading this page for a couple of months now and whilst I understand the fans being outraged at owners past, present and future, there appears to me a certain firm, slipping in to the background who are, let's say, doing a morecambe and wise dance (if you are old enough to remember!)............
Duff & Phelps!! Let's reflect a little...
This mob turned down offers from consortiums who the fans believed had the best interests of the club at heart. Why? To ensure their fees would be covered by any preferred bidder. The 8.5 million done just that. But what about the clause in reaching agreement with Green? That is, to be given the right to buy the club's assets should the CVA be rejected. And for how much? 5.5 million!! The same figure owed to Duff & Phelps.........
So, and this is my opinion, when the administrators talked of working to get the best deal for creditors, or trying to ensure the club was moved on as a going concern, or ensuring the club survived in some form if liquidated, all they were ensuring was they got paid!!
Had an agreement with Green not been negotiated then a bidding war would have ensued for the club's assets and there would have been no guarantee of them being paid in full ( as secured creditors). For example, if the liquidator received, say, 4 million for lock stock and barell.
I am a Celtic supporter, through and through, I love it when we beat Rangers and hate it when we lose. I never wanted to see this club go under. Maybe they paved their future by sheer mismanagement but I believe they could have been saved. I just think that the administrators agenda was first and foremost to line their own pockets. And haven't they done just that!
Who knows what the future holds?? Let's hope this debacle fades soon and we can get back to beating each other on the pitch and earning the bragging rights until the next old firm game.
Keep the faith!

The differance now Ed isthat Ticketus and the taxman are going after him for money. The money he used to pay of the banks and transfer the floating chare to himself. If he is liable tfor the Ticketus money themn he does have a pretty good claim on the assets . To date he has been ablee to take the Jelavic money and run. Now he's going to have to either got to coart to cover his ass or move to Pannama pronto. For those who never heard he said:

There was an assasination attempt of a sort yesterday in Scottish football, a pincer movement on Charles Green. Not a left and right attack might I add, more one in the front and one in the back. The front: Walter "come lately" Smith and his pathetic, flak deflecting, untimely entrance to the show. The back: Ally McCoist's attempt to smear Charles Green with what has evidently proved to be a nonsense sacking allegation. Green tells him to his face I'll quit on the day that I have to sack you and yet McCoist believe's a rumour from Dave King? Pure garbage. Anyone who doesn't find more than a coincidence in these two events yesterday thinks Craig Whyte is a trustworthy, upstanding pillar of the community. The most famous assasination of all time arguably was JFK's. Oswald's words when captured "I'm just a patsy." Cue Jim "succulent lamb" Traynor, more than happy to go with a nonsense story and feed the fans rubbish so as to undermine Green in the morning before Smith rides over the hill in the afternoon. It was brilliantly well done and very effective but Smith's silence has been deafening during the past four months and if Rangers fans en masse buy into this then more the fool them because this guy was nowhere to be seen during your greatest hour of need, Green was.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

If Dave King told me his name was Dave King i would check it was true.

Agree5 Disagree1

OP here I agree with every one of the comments so far, well as far as they go, so far (4). I don't think either of them come out of this with much credit and Traynor exposed as the balloon he is. I find it pretty despicable that some fans have turned on green already, its no wonder why the rest of Scottish football wants to see the back of the gers. I dont mind admitting it but having rangers people only running this club will just continue the bigoted behaviour at most of the matches. Green has saved the club when walter smith was no where to be seen! walter and his millionaires are only involved now as they wont have to pay any of the debt off otherwise, i hope the rangers are voted back into the spl with green in charge. most of you guys will have seen my posts stating i would not follow a newco but now the red mist has gone i can see that a newco is the only way. the dhims can go on about history but my history is in my memories and no one can take that away. winning the cup winners cup in 72 means more to me than septic winning the European cup does to my Septic supporting son in law because i was there i witnessed it. its right there in my heart with the birth of my kids things that no one will ever take away.

It looks to me as though Liquidation was on teh cards all along and Walter just did not want his name associated what was a necessary action given HMRC's stance.
Given that Green had the b**ls to take this on I think he deserves a chance to bring it off. Where was Walter and his supporters when we really needed them a few weeks ago waiting for liquidation and the chance to use fans to do his work for him. Good luck Mr Green. Ok we all agree that Smith is an all time legend at RFC and that McColl, Park and such like are behind Smith in this consortium bid but why now? Why wait till Green can be villainised with RFC being liquidated? SmithCo could have stepped in months ago! Before Green. In all likelyhood we would be in the same situation but instead of Green at the helm it would be SmithCo and would we still be calling for Smiths head?. Personally i think Green is the man to take RFC ahead. I think RFC needs to be run with the head and not the heart for a while and if that means being run on a purse string then so be it. SmithCo could easily enter a deal to assist Green like has been offered and in time could takeover when Rangers are back on their feet. This late bid by Smith consortium is pretty outrageous, if it was anyone else coming in with a bid so late on, there would be an outcry! I think we should give Green his chance and publicly urge Smith and Co to fall in with Green and take Rangers forward.

It simple Smith McColl & Park didnt want to know when it was going down the CVA
route and Green stole a march on them as he was clever enough to know the CVA was going to fail now the club has been liquidated Smith & Co have sprang up knowing the newco does not have the burden of all the debt & want to get the club as cheap as possible. What annoys me is McColl is worth billions, Park is worth around £78m if they really want the club and care for it offer this guy Green the £15m/£20m which will make him walk away and if their needing any help in the purchase pull in Kennedy another one with millions that apparently loves the club !!

An extract on Rangers Liquidation in the Sctsman.

“If they put us into Division Three, then there are going to be a lot of other SPL clubs in big financial trouble,” added McLeod. “But that’s up to them. We are at the stage now where we feel as if we should maybe take a few others with us.”

WOT?????

Take a few other with us, always seems to be everyone elses fault

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Being a celtic fan I'd miss the OF games highlight of the season, but Im of the opinion you should start again in Div 3. My reasoning is purely down to the fact that you are now a new company and as such should start at the bottom and work up. Yes there is financial implications you bring with the size of your club but if you start afresh in SPL then you will gain financially.

Walter probably wanted to enter the race to buy Rangers earlier but Jim McColl, being the sharp businessman that he is, realised a newco would be needed and neither wanted to be known for that. So, after the blame could be placed elsewhere, Walter and McColl entered the fray as the saviours hoping that a deal would be done because of Walter's history with the club. I am not complaining about this move as I will renew my ticket if Walter takes over because I would trust him more than I trust Green and his 2 or 3 partners.

tell me something, everybody from rangers fans to media columnists to newspaper journalists have been against Mr Green from day 1,they have asked for transparency and clarity, they have asked who the investors were ,they have wanted to know how much moneys available, they have wanted to know about running cost ,they have wanted to know the affect the newco has on the players etc etc etc, everybody and their granny wants Walter to buy the club, but has anyone asked him the same questions,no don't think so, cmon fellow bluenoses give Charles green the benefit of the doubt. if the Walter consortium want to be part of the way forward they know what to do,don't buy season tickets until we know what league were in as the prices will vary but after that lets get behind the club, that's what Walter and his consortium should do,let's get this sorry state of affairs put to bed once and for all.

Tom English 100% on the money "Charles Green was hit by a pincer movement today" everything about McCoist's alleged sacking reaks of it. This is the same McCoist who on Wednesday night was by all accounts having a meal with Walter Smith and others in an Italian restaurant. I wonder what the subject matter was? Very fitting, as it has all the hallmarks of a mafia style hit on a Don. Green has seemingly already said to McCoist he would put a stipulation in his contract whereby he would resign on the day he had to sack McCoist (lets face it better managers than him have less guarantees.) Green suggested journalists ask McCoist if this is true, surely adding some validity to it. Can a manager ask for better support. If you ask me Ally "John Gotti" McCoist has done a Paul Castellano on Green and should be utterly ashamed of himself.

as a Celtic fan i urge the supporters to get behing Walter Smith and his consortium who are true Rangers fans thru and thru, forget about the EBTS and Walter knew etc, but show your support for a man who has Rangers best interests at heart, Green is only in it to make money and has no interest in the welfare of your club, but this is my opinion. Take whatever punishment that comes your way with dignity and Walter would deliver that whereas Green will do his best to antagonise other clubs and their supporters and at the moment Green has alienated many of the neutrals that would have sided with a Rangers Newco.
Walter and his consortium would be the best people to take Rangers through the next few difficult years, whether they ahve to build from the 3rd div, the 1st div if they are just relageted, to appease SKY tv, but with no accounts and the fact that it will be 4 yrs before you can play in europe as the accounts will not be ready for a year, strong Rangers men with the club and the passion running thru their veins is needed.
the Old Firm derbies are the best in the world with the most passionate fans in the world, and yeh im biased, the best atmosphere in the world, best game ever not to be repeated anywhere else, dont let Green kill that game and kill the passion.

What has happened to the legal charge over Ibrox held by Whyte?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Whyte need to sell his shares there worthless, rangers plc has been liquidated all shares are defunct, and when then plc has been dissolved the actual death of a company by the way. So Green wouldn't have needed to buy shares .

Agree2 Disagree0

No Whyte has not sold his shares for £2 he still owns 85% of Rangers plc 1899 but that is now just a shell company now.

Whyte has no postion at Rangers at all from yesterday. I think it's clear Murray paid Whyte to do the dirty work and get the btc finished with he will never be seen again.

I'm sure hmrc and Whyte have ran acorss each other many times before i don't think the guy really cares if they sue him or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Whyte's shares matter now. The company he has/had shares in is going to be liquidated. The football club is owned by a new company now... I doubt he'd come back to the new company in any capacity - that wouldn't be good business sense by Green since 1) the fans would crack up and; 2) some players have clauses in their contracts to get out if Whyte makes a return (this is assuming they transfer to the newco).

The rangers fc division 3, Saviour of scottish football?

Believable9 Unbelievable4

OP - I think the bears would revitalise the lower divisions thro attendances, finance and teams getting a chance to put one over the newco. Crowds in the divisions may well increase if their team(s) are in the chase with the newco, if indeed the newco are in the chase! There would be a lot more TV coverage, maybe not full games but certainly highlights and this may bring in extra finance via advertising/sponsorship for the smaller teams-more than is there this now. If Ibrox is the venue for the newco what lower division player would pass up on playing at the stadium and even visiting fans turning up? this could mean improved performances from some of the teams. RFC would presumably be fielding more youth/younger players than the norm, therefore giving those players experience and an oppurtunity they would not get if they were a number in the old squad, never getting a game.
How many shouts have there been for the old reserve type league to be started again giving the youngsters a chance? RFC could be doing that week in week out. RFC may well even pick up some young players from the other teams and develop them having seen them first hand. This could lead to income on sale to the other club or saving to RFC if the young player matures and is good enough to hold a first team place when the team advances into the next division. Overall the teams in the lower divisions, starting with div 3 would am sure look forward to RFC joining in and am sure they will see an increase in their revenue, whether they put that into their squad will be up to them.
RFC would have to widen their outlook on attracting young players and balance the numbers in the squad with more experienced players giving youth more of a chance.
As for the saviour of Scottish football? no chance, nothing will save Scottish football, it's a backwater in european standards. The tartan army celebrate a victory in 1967 and a goal in 1978. Scotland are renowned for grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.
Team wise we have the first UK teams to a) reach a euro final and b) win the euro cup. 45 years later teams struggle to get into the group stages of the champions league.
Scotland internationally and clubwise always think they are better than what they are, shirley we should beat them!
There will always be football here but the standard will remain constant with occaisional blips to a europa final, simply because the better players will eventually go to England, where the money is.

On the Walter and EBTs point. People seem to forget EBTs are legal and rangers only have an issue like a number of other clubs now look like having because they did not operate them properly. Whether walter knew of them or not, he is no tax expert so if he is told by an expert it is legal then he like most of us is going to believe them.

I am sure that I read last year that a game between St Johnstone v somebody attracted 670 viewers when Santanta were on the go. Anybody that thinks Sky will still be there if Rangers are not ate kidding themselves. They show virtually every Raangers and Celtic away game, so without Rangers they either show Celtic in every game or every second week they get a few hundred viewers.

That does not take into account the huge draw that Old Firm games are.

The usual idiots will reply that Scottish football won't die clubs will just cut their cloth accordingly, with the usual dig about this being something new to us. What these people won't answer is what happens to clubs who have long term wage deals based on current incomes, what do they do with these players, they can't just reduce terms.

I would remind you that we failed to pay Dunfermline and the next week they could not pay their players. That is reality it may not be what those people want to hear. They say more people will turn out if competitive, if you think the bookies paying out the championship bets in October is competitive you are dreaming. The only people who will are those in second place, so they can get humiliated in the third qualifying round in mid June. And instead of ripping two sets of fans off twice a year by increasing prices, some £10 dearer for us and Celtic fans than for other fans of other clubs. Nobody has ever made a point of this, I would suggest that these clubs are charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

I also say that it is unbelievable in my opinion how the debt can be wiped out and a newco can rise and leave the debt behind, and leave any litigation or future BTC penalties and yet a newco had to take sanctions for a different old co, I could understand it if we had same directors etc, but the guilty ones are gone, the fans are left and we are the punished. We can't get into Europe because a newco but still take penalties for old co. no doubt we will have those that say we must be punished, hello, we have been put of business for Christ sake but that's not enough.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

You were put out of business because you would pay no one,not even teams you bought players from then sold but would still not pay what you owed them, you walk away now owing nothing to nobody and you think you are hard done by.....b

Agree3 Disagree2

Greed and money etc got rangers in this mess, football needs to get its house in order,Scottish football bosses need to forget about money greed and corruption and show that you can't live beyond your means and show that cheats can't prosper and cheat Scottish football...by taking other teams best players and paying them wages you couldnt afford and then not paying the transfer fees so them teams can't re invest their money to improve..in some cases these clubs have gone to the wall because rangers never paid there dues...yes before you all start Scottish football will miss the money rangers generate but this about Scottish football being able to hold its head up high?..hmrc Are going after owners and previous owners to make them accountable for fraud by transferring assets of rangers which they have hidden away ...hmrc will get ibrox and all other land etc because these assests were knowingly transferred to deceive the British tax payers

Agree2 Disagree0

Rubbish. It's not punishment for the oldco onto the new club that's got The Rangers out of Europe, it's the fact that every new club has zero footballing history and need to play domestic football for three years to get the required footballing history. Not punishment at all happens to all new clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Genrally businesses project revenue and costs before the start of the new business year as Dunfermline would have done, so to not get paid 100k would have had an affect. If they had planned not to have had that 100k then they would have lived within their means. This is something that Rangers seemed to have ignored how to do. It is not only trophies that the othe clubs have lost out on it is substantial amounts of money due to the unethical way Rangers the club have run their business.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only punishment you have had is the transfer embargo which at the moment has been recinded( more on that later )
the 10 point deduction was not a punishmentr it was a rule of the game for going into administration which all clubs signed up for as part of the spl.
The three year embargo from european football again is part of the rules of the game, for going into liquidation due to 3 years accounts being unavailable , which again all clubs signed up for . lets put them aside because they would have been put in force with any club . so as it stands " rfc " as they were have had no punishment only rules being implemented .
Now back to the transfer ban that you went to court about , if "THE RANGERS F C " , want to take over the spl share then you should expect that the spl / sfa will place sanctions i.e for the court case ( uefa and fifa ) still watching , ebt case ( contract wise not hmrc wise ) and for not paying original paye etc .
any club would be getting the same no matter who they were !

I am putting my vote behind Walter, and not renewing season ticket until his team are in charge. While Green has be really canny by setting up a scenario where he looks like he wants to save Rangers but knows it will be a newco, I am concerned about his quick buck motives and whether craig why're in collusion with d&p is still behind all of this to ensure the milk the last bit of blood out of Renagers before moving on.
It has been quite clear that Whyte wanted d&p as administrators and while d&p have used a very good cover story to make it look like they are not in bed with Whyte it seems to be clear that there may be a conflict of interest. Add to this that d&p were pushing for green to get rangers when in reality his bid seems little more than being offered by the blue knights etc over a month ago, and no where near the money d&p said was coming when they gave preferred bidder status. I smell a rat. The lies from Whyte and d&p now seem to be continuing with green with false investor claims. I just wonder who is behind this money. Maybe its the missing jelavic money funding one final pay day!
Even if green is legit i will not be trusting another liar. When you bid £5.5m on something you surely know who's money you are bidding with, if not how can you be trusted to run a football club!

If no-one wants us, where do all the players and Ibrox, Murray park etc go ? The Central League ? Look where Gretna ended up !!

There's a lot of bad feeling out there and most of the perpetrators have NOT taken heed of the consequences to the other clubs. Believe me, if we fall, the others will follow and Scottish football will become like the Irish League or League of Wale in less than 5 years.

I saw something in todays paper about div 3 clubs and their grounds, does no-one read the attendancies at these grounds ? If they only realised they would multiply their gates tenfold if we were in that div with them,

Just want to clear this up...
people are saying Rangers is gone, now we have no trophies etc and we are now "The Rangers". All that has changed is the company that owns "Glasgow Rangers FC". That only came into existence in 1899, so this whole idea that our "140-year history is gone" is stupid - the company that died has only been about for 113 years but we still count the trophies we won before 1899. Also, why don't we just give CG a chance? He's the only one that put in a decent enough offer and stuck by it. No point in trying to force him out when he's only been in control for a matter of hours. We're a newco now, the old Rangers can't be saved - might as well give Green a chance. Him and Smith both have the same ideas anyway - run the club decently for a year or 2 then sell on.
