Rangers Banter Archive September 14 2016

Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

14 Sep 2016 22:45:18
Not sure how many fans will agree with this but I really think the way forward for us this season is through a change in formation to a 3/ 5 at the back, pushing tav and lee forward whilst also leaving extra protection on the counter. Also rossiter has to replace Barton for me, this kid has talent and the right attitude to go along with it. Any two of holt/ Windass/ forrester Infront of him giving us legs and talent in the middle of the park, something we desperately lack with Barton and krancjar. Then up top two of garner/ Miller/ waggy, think garner looks like he has the fight and finishing we need up top. Only problem is McKay and O'halloran struggle to fit in the formation but I think it would be best for the club moving forward especially in the big games.

15 Sep 2016 03:33:06
Can't see Warbs dropping Barton.

15 Sep 2016 04:19:26
Have it on good authority ( common sense)

Joey will not be dropped, he costs too much and his recklessness on eh twitter will bring us down.

Joey will, play, joey will get better.

Krancjar is the most natrually gifted player in eh SPL (on his day) since Moravick.

O'hallraon is rapid, a love Miller but we need to prepare for next year and stopping 10 in a row.

If we lose on Saturday, do you want the Hat to stay?

15 Sep 2016 08:52:43
Juninho, De boer, Gaza, Larson, Laudrup , Thompson, Artera. All more gifted than niko.

15 Sep 2016 09:38:17
Laudrup was after
Gaza was before Lubo

The rest for sure mate good call

I think he will come good.

15 Sep 2016 10:10:42
Laudrup was before gazza and lubo.

15 Sep 2016 10:31:34
Arteta was in Scotland 5 minutes.

15 Sep 2016 10:32:27
Laudrup and gazza both before lubo! Is that meant to be alan Thompson ๐Ÿ˜ just a hatchet man with a good left peg.

15 Sep 2016 13:12:38
Kaney, you missed me off your list. Obviously you have never seen me strut my stuff down the park.

15 Sep 2016 13:53:37
Kaney! I hope that isn't reference to Alan Thompson! He was pish! fair play on the other names, even adding in van bronckhorst, Albertz! even commons I coulda half agreed with.

15 Sep 2016 16:10:25
juninho and Thomson hahahhaha? your a phsyco. Thomson was a Clugger with a half descent shot.

15 Sep 2016 17:00:14
many goals did thompson score against Rangers? my point is whether these guys were here for 1 season or 5, they were all more gifted than niko kranjaer.

juninho won a world cup cee. are you really in agreement that niko kranjaer is a more gifted player that juninho?

14 Sep 2016 22:09:25
Time to get behind the Gers, End of season is when we want ton judge, Get a grip, If we told 2or3 in first season back, most sensible folk would have said aye to that, So shut up an support yer team, DAFTIES. C'mon the Gers.

15 Sep 2016 04:20:29
most sensible post av seen in a while.

we are far by a new club, but we have a new clubs resources.

its been a small miracle how well we have done.

15 Sep 2016 11:24:40
Wondered how long it would be before we got posts like this.

Yes support the team

Yes judge manager at end of season

But let's not ignore reality. Worst start to season in our history. Pasted by a poor Celtic team. Toiling against weaker spl sides and losing goals at a rate similar to Dundee United of last season.

15 Sep 2016 23:59:16
Honest Ger: I don't think Celtic are poor.

14 Sep 2016 19:34:48
Remember Jim McColl was interested in buying Rangers with a consortium. Was there any truth in this at all? Oh how I wish he did buy the club back then I'm quite sure Mike Ashley would never have got near us!

14 Sep 2016 19:52:19
look at the job he done with the Fergus on ship yard.

14 Sep 2016 20:02:30
was only interested in a little publicity for himself, never actually had any intent to buy the club he supposedly loves.

14 Sep 2016 23:45:58
I know a guy who works for Jim McCall at a high level at he said that Jim had multiple business interests that were struggling and needed vast amounts of time and cash spent on them.
I think the deals may now have been concluded and Jim would be better placed now. Ask your self we have some big hitters financially at the table and they are reluctant to keep piling in cash with Ashley involved what could Jim McCall offer that's different.

14 Sep 2016 19:24:20
We need to bring back the Reserve league or allow our young u19 or u21 play in the the same competitions as League 2, 1 and the Championship in order to improve our young ones.

14 Sep 2016 19:53:35
I honestly believe the best thing for scottish football would be putting the u21 into the leagues. Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal are 4 countries I know have done it and it seems to benefit clubs quite a bit. It would be a massibe help to our league. We could also increase league sizes aswell with the extra teams in there.

14 Sep 2016 20:03:02
that's why warbs uses the loan system for players to play in a higher league.

15 Sep 2016 13:55:56
Totally agree with this shout! Has done wonders for The Spanish, Germans and Portuguese.

14 Sep 2016 19:28:03
I can't speak for every bear out there but I think its a must that warburton finds a starting place in our team regularly for both jason holt and josh windass, I would also like to see danny wilson and matt crooks together as our centre half pairing with our front 3 of moh on the right garner central and mckay left, thoughts on this fellow bears?

14 Sep 2016 20:03:57
moh has been awful, as predicted, he needs to start proving or he will be out the door. holt and windass against the smaller sides yes but when we play celtic Aberdeen and hearts a little bit more protection will be needed.

14 Sep 2016 20:21:25
I think Crooks should be tried in midfield a position he has said he prefers. He can also score goals and get around the park. I'd have him Rossiter, holt, Windass with O'Halloran playing a similar role to Sinclair at Celtic. That would introduce some pace and energy going forward. As for the back line I would try Bates with Wilson.

14 Sep 2016 21:11:29
Warbs 15
Agree Windass should play-our only real bright spot from Saturday. We've missed wee Holty badly with his energy, drive and running the channels so should also play. I would put young Rossi ter in beside them if he's fit. Barton should be benched to show him you have to earn your place in the side. Fear that won't happen though as it might be too soon for MW to accept he might have made a mistake with Joey B. As for the defence that might be more of an issue-Wilson might not be fully fit but if he is I'd give him and Crooks a go (even if he doesn't really want to play there) and even if he's not I'd even be prepared to give young Bates a chance. I don't wish any Rangers player ill but I hope Kiernan is injured (surely he must know how poor everybody thinks he is) that way somebody else can play, hopefullyplay well and keep him out of the side . Think MW will play safe though (do I really mean safe? ) and play Hill and A. N. Other (Wilson if fit) and hope to God they can handle Boyce Gardyne and the like. Up front MOH deserves a start and he and Bazza would hopefully give Garner some decent service. Forrester, Miller and maybe Halli day or Waghorn to come off the bench depending on the state of the game. Sounds like the sort of side we need right now-pace, energy, drive, greater stability at the back- a recipe for getting back to winning ways-let's hope MW sees that way.

14 Sep 2016 21:12:48
Cee, I genuinely think that moh hasn't had a chance yet, by that I mean a run of 4 or 5 games actually starting, this stop start is doing him no good whatsoever, I really think with a run of games moh could be tremendous for us! Time to find out if he's going to make it at rangers and only a good run of games will provide us with the answer, imo he has it in him to be a star player for us.

14 Sep 2016 22:35:38
Cee

What midfield would you like to see against Aberdeen and Hearts?

15 Sep 2016 06:56:56
Why does waghorn get overlooked?

15 Sep 2016 11:58:06
Cee i think you'll find we need Windass and Holt on for the games against Hearts and Aberdeen mate, no creativity or enough movement off the ball to cause celtic any danger, we need them on.

15 Sep 2016 11:58:57
Cee- 100% bang on with your moh comments. He's been an absolute flopped yet some fans still call for him to be in the team.

He has had chances, he's not taken them. There is a perfectly good reason he doesn't play, his final ball is non existent and his finishing is even more so.

We don't have money to waste but we have wasted money on him.

15 Sep 2016 13:58:19
MOH isn't even near to being an answer to any of our problems in my opinion, the guy is so one dimensional, relies on pace and very little else.

14 Sep 2016 23:19:55
No mckay for me,

15 Sep 2016 16:19:08
McKay may drift out of games but I see him as one of our better players.

15 Sep 2016 16:59:29
a little bit more protection crooks, Barton or even halliday add a bit more defensive ability.

14 Sep 2016 19:07:09
People keep going on about needing a Plan B!

I completely understand what Warburton means that his Plan B is the make Plan A better.

Plan A is rarely completed properly by the players but when it is, is has yet to fail. Only when Plab A is utilised properly and doesn't work would you need a Plan B!

I am sure Warburton does have a Plan B for this reason but until Plan A is used properly and still fails, I doubt we will see Plan B.

14 Sep 2016 20:15:31
Rubbish.

14 Sep 2016 21:03:23
Always good to have a healthy debate billyb.

15 Sep 2016 08:52:18
Plan a hasn't failed, since semi hibs twice Falkirk twice alloa Livingston Hamilton Kilmarnock cultic Yeah it really works BTW just to be clear I don't hate Warburton by any means his principles are good at least we try and play football now however it's a results business sometimes winning is sell that matters.

14 Sep 2016 18:54:47
evening bears, just reading warburtons latest comments in build up to ross county, various comments on rangers not playing as rangers, performance etc not what's expected but no mention of stopping glaring defensive errors is he in denial about our defence or even worse think the defensive mistakes are no big deal as long as we do it in final third that's the way it seems, I'm more worried if that's the case.

14 Sep 2016 19:09:13
Just don't think he wants to leave the defence to hang out to dry. if there's arses to be kicked do it in house not in front of the baying media.

14 Sep 2016 23:11:38
Gdb bag your defence is? Please tell me.

14 Sep 2016 17:31:37
So some rangers fans want celtic fans banned for the december match, that's fine it would be great to allow as many of you as possible to see your team get stuffed again. On another point as on your current form you won't be playing us after the league split, so rangers fans have a great 8 Monty's ahead, relegation battles ahead, no euro football next season after a trophyless season.
Onwards and downwards.

14 Sep 2016 17:58:10
Yeah you certainly flew the flag for Scotland last night and we a credit to the country.

14 Sep 2016 18:42:52
Sorry one more time- videprinter style

Barcelona 7 (seven) Celtic 0.

14 Sep 2016 18:52:09
He is clearly hurt after getting embarrassed in Europe. Need his Rangers fix. I don't blame him for being Rangers obsessed. because it is all about us.

14 Sep 2016 19:45:25
@boyscout - on current form we are in the top 6?

14 Sep 2016 19:50:50
To quote the clown that is Brown.

Men against boys lol.

14 Sep 2016 20:02:16
On everyone's current form we are third so your statement makes no sense๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

14 Sep 2016 20:15:42
Things like numbers, letters and facts are beyond most Celtic fans Union Jack.

14 Sep 2016 23:02:21
@recbob - sometimes you have to point out the obvious even though it's difficult for some people to grasp!

14 Sep 2016 17:02:18
All this nonsense about banning Celtic fans and that is crap, its not going to happen. But, the behaviour from both fans is beyond a joke now. What those Celtic fans did was one of the wrist things I've ever saw at a football game. However, the songs Rangers fans things are probably the worst songs I've ever heard. I decided to not go to Ibrox a few years ago until a time when the nonsense stopped, or at least 40,00+ fans stopped singing about murdering the Irish. Instead I've put my money into my local club and I know that will annoy a lot of folk. But really, our club has to do more, Celtic has to do more and we, as fans, need to do more otherwise the cycle of hate will never stop. Oh, and btw, its very easy to hate Leigh Griffiths and co without worrying about what religion they are.

14 Sep 2016 21:19:20
So the songs celtic fans sing are not as bad as the rangers fans songs. Ya right complete nonsense. There should be no sectarian songs at all. There isn't a more sectarian hatefilled group than the green brigade a group which is given its own area of parkhead.

14 Sep 2016 22:30:45
Eh I don't support Celtic or watch their games unless we are involved.

15 Sep 2016 02:09:51
It's a minority at parkhead and the majority at ibox. The BBC belted out every game. The i@a guff is from a few thousand not the full stadium. Away days and the bigots from both sides are embarrassing and drag the club's down to gutter level.

15 Sep 2016 08:21:56
Loki, most Celtic supporters clubs have sectarian songs playing when on their way to matches? fancy explaining that one? or is it just a minority that listen to it and the rest cover their ears?

14 Sep 2016 16:50:02
Reading the statistical analysis today of the season so far only confirms what we all see for ourselves ; the central defence is probably the worst in our history and the defence as a unit unfit for purpose
The tragedy is that we knew that at the end of last season. Which raises the question, why did Warburton and Weir not recognise this and prioritise the centre of defence in our summer signings? Or did they, but the Board failed to provide the necessary money?
We deserve answers, even more so given that today we are being linked, in relation to the January window, with, you've guessed it, another English midfielder!
I thought W and W did superbly last season, but am not impressed with the signing strategy, inflexibility of team structure and lack of a plan B when things don't go well in the games.
Beginning to worry that Warbs is a very limited one trick pony Give him till the winter shutdown as he deserves that time, but if there is no improvement action must be taken.
We are not in the position to waste scarce resources in the wrong hands. Anything less than second place on our budget is failure.

14 Sep 2016 17:14:58
"Give him till the winter shutdown. " Are you for real? You want him binned in 3 and a bit months. To be replaced by who? There is no money - fact. Who do you suggest he is replaced by? Get real. Warburton needs a minimum of two full seasons in SPFL, that's,4 transfer Windows relying on budget deals.

14 Sep 2016 17:26:31
would u rather he did what Brenda Rodgers Did last night? completely change the way his team play? abandon his style and philosophy and get beat? I would rather have a manager who believes in his philosophy and has the balls to stick what he believes in.

14 Sep 2016 18:45:48
Seriously don't want to be changing manager this season- it's already got a similar feel to our first season in championship. Need stability not chaos.

BUT Warburton must improve, needs to be judged at end of season. This is his first real test and he's not passed it yet.

14 Sep 2016 20:24:15
Honest Germanic largely agree with you but Warburton is reputed to work using stats and our defensive stats since the Cup semi are as bad as Dundee United last season. What has he done about it?
Our budget is greater than any club outside Celtic. Can you see that on the park?
Why does he offer no public explanation as to his failure to bring in quality central defenders?
How long should he get? How long de Stuart McCall get? How long did Paul Le Guen?
My point is that if he cannot see the problem, or admit there is one, how can he fix it!
I hope he succeeds but to give him two years is totally irresponsible
He doesn't have to overtake Celtic but he does have to beat Killie, Hamilton, Motherwell and the rest!

14 Sep 2016 23:05:55
@Gmacd - team is currently 3rd so technically we are in front of the teams you mentioned.

14 Sep 2016 15:22:49
Daily record have published the stats for season so far. Shows area we have conceded all of the goals so. Not surprising all are in central area of our goal. Surely MW sees same stats from game analysts at Ibrox and will do something about it.

14 Sep 2016 14:51:10
just asking guys how long is rossiter out for and what happened to him? severly missed him and holty on Saturday.

14 Sep 2016 15:53:18
Took a knock in training James.

14 Sep 2016 16:38:11
Where does it say he's injured? not saying i don't believe you, i haven't heard anything but we definitely missed him on Saturday.

14 Sep 2016 18:12:12
My mate met joe dodoo up byers road on thu and he was asking how he was coming along with his injury and in conversation told him abt rossiter.

14 Sep 2016 13:15:14
Saturday 31st December confirmed as next Old Firm date. I really don't think there will be any trouble on that day.

14 Sep 2016 13:20:17
would love that tbh onlyshow.

14 Sep 2016 13:31:34
Are Celtic fans banned then?

14 Sep 2016 14:01:58
There won't be cause celtic supporters will not be inside ibrox it will be a bouncing ibrox with all fellow bluenoses.

14 Sep 2016 14:44:36
Rangers are yet to say a thing about banning Celtic fans from Ibrox. I highly doubt it though.

14 Sep 2016 14:49:34
so celtic fans do some disgusting stuff but rangers fans where just as bad signing the songs that gets our club into trouble, destroying parts of the stadium. its getting ridiculous .

rangers are nowhere near celtic in terms of competing for the league just need to accept the fairy tale isn't going to come true.

I love warbs and what he has done for us ut he has to be more open minded about tactics because if we play 4-3-3 against the sheep we will get hammered aswell.

should play 4-4-2 attaqcking 4-4-2 that is but it would still give cover to the back whilst stopping us being out numbered in the middle of the park.

we should go back to basics.

14 Sep 2016 15:20:53
We should be trying to behave with a bit more maturity and integrity.

Banning their fans will only deepen divisions and lead to more problems in the future.

We should also have condemned the pathetic embarrassment that is smashing up one of their toilets. Blatant thuggery and shameful that the club didn't condemn it.

There are enough idiots without both clubs acting like them- heads can't be buried in sand or blind eye's turned.

14 Sep 2016 15:48:05
Honestly a wouldn't let them anywhere near ibrox make there tickets giving to
Season ticket holders who sit in the broamloan without the Celtic game.

14 Sep 2016 15:50:13
I'm sorry James but what celtic done is the most disgusting thing ever in a celtic fan, my best friend was at the game and his father hung himself last year and he was heartbroken to see something like that. he's a celtic fan BTW.

14 Sep 2016 15:56:37
Celtic fans won't get banned from ibrox, but I can't believe the next old firm game is for Hogmanay, I mean seriously why have they not moved the fixture to another date, the hatred last week was a disgrace, I'm sick to death of the rangers fans singing sectarian songs, I've had enough of it, but I can't believe Celtic as a club let those mocked up dolls hanging from the stands is shocking, it's time to start docking points for this crap, I'm disgusted with it now and it's time Rangers done more about it.

14 Sep 2016 16:13:41
We didn't post a display of celtic fans hanging, and we didn't hold a sign said Kill All Tims. I don't think singing an offensive song is on that level. Granted the sectarianism within our Supporters is embarassing, I disagree when you say we were just as bad.

14 Sep 2016 18:48:18
Truth is both sides have idiots in their stands who are as bad as each other.

Personally I'd love to see the back of all the pathetic racist sectarian songs at ibrox. Sung by morons that do nothing but harm our club.

14 Sep 2016 12:28:04
Question for Saturday fellow bears.

If they are able to play, can Holt, Windass and Forrester all play in the midfield together?

Would be the most attacking line up we could put out in that area of the pitch.

Hopefully two of them will play, and after the performance Windass put in, he's going to be the first name on the team sheet.

Barton will play whether we want him to or not.

So a midfield three of Barton, Windass, Forrester against Ross County.

14 Sep 2016 12:55:58
If everyone was fit I would go with a midfield of Rossiter, Crooks, Windass with O Halloran wide. However there may be a case to play O Halloran behind a striker similar to the role Sinclair plays for Celtic if that was the case then I would either bring in Holt or Forrester. Feel that would give the midfield some energy and pace we have been lacking. Would also put the young guy Bates in defence and see how he gets on. As for Barton and Kranjcar. Would only use Krancjar as an impact sub and would leave Barton out the squad altogether.

14 Sep 2016 13:04:12
I would play Rossiter, Holt and Halliday as the midfield three. Many on here don't rate Halliday, but he works well alongside Holt. After Saturday's game, I would definitely find a place for Windass, and would play him in a free role between midfield and attack. Barton and Kranjkar have slowed us right down. We need the high tempo style from last season.

14 Sep 2016 15:22:58
Nico should not be near the team until he can show proper match fitness- perhaps he should play a few games with the youngsters to get match sharpness

We have to hope Barton doesn't become the new Ian black, which he has been so far.

14 Sep 2016 15:59:15
I'm sorry but I'm starting to think warburton has under estimated this league, we must switch to a 4-2-3-1,it makes sense with the players we have at the club.

14 Sep 2016 16:28:09
I wouldn't say he's struggling with match fitness the problem is he is being asked to play as a midfield player and not getting the chance to just express himself he needs a worker beside him winning challenges and people making runs for him to pick out.

14 Sep 2016 18:18:07
I think the problem with krankjar is he's a ""No 10" and we don't technically play a "No 10". and no smart aยฃ&e say barrie mckay plays No 10๐Ÿ˜‚.

14 Sep 2016 19:15:48
Exactly right delboy the players we have suit 4231 that's the way I'd go!

14 Sep 2016 12:21:40
Great to see the manky mob being humiliated last night. i couldn't care less about co efficients or where it leaves us as a country in a footballing sense, as long as they are hurting I'm happy. Gutted a never watched it now. Scotland isn't and never will be a United country anyway as the last 5 years have proven.
On a side note though is there even any point in the Champions League anymore? Celtic have been trying in vain for years to get back in, finally scrape through after trying the lock on every back door and potential loophole, get in and then that happens. They're gullible fans ranting and raving that they're a Champions League team all summer (which they are officially at least I suppose) . Let the rich teams play each other and sort something out for the rest of us to fight over because this isn't Football.
I will still howl with delight every time this happens though, 1 down 5 more humiliations to go. ๐Ÿ˜‚.

14 Sep 2016 12:58:58
ยฃ30 million seems like a decent point to me.

14 Sep 2016 13:00:02
Recbob

Agree about this part of the champions league being pointless now. Made the point last night that for Barcelona it is a complete waste of time and must be so boring to hammer a team with such ease. They will probably get more challenging games in the first couple of rounds in the Spanish cup. Had to laugh at the radio commentators saying the young Celtic players will learn from this. What is there to learn after an absolute canning.

14 Sep 2016 13:07:53
The Champions league deserves Celtic, remember that. Mr Vain said that. Scottish clubs should not be allowed to play in Europe, but after lasts nights comedy show, Celtic may have solved that problem for good.

14 Sep 2016 13:09:19
Here here Recbob, even as I grow older it still makes me smile to see selic being Rodgered (pardon the pun)

14 Sep 2016 13:12:44
all the fans going on about getting 20+ mill for getting there but they don't relise its not going into the fans pockets. shelling out 100 odd quid to see your team getting a pumping is demoralising to say the least.

yes its great to have a champs league night but no way would i want that!

would love to see the bears play like barca. lol
but we should get right behind our lads and put the positive back into ourselves for the rest of the season and forget about the darkside!

14 Sep 2016 14:01:32
Their ยฃ30m got them Sinclair and Toure in reality, their season book money would have covered that anyway. They've been sold a rubber donkey by Liewell as usual.
Celtic fans wanted it both ways, they wanted us out the league because we had wiped the floor with them under Smith, and they got what they wished for in 5 meaningless titles, watched by a man and his dug. They also want to compete in Europe, unfortunately every decent player they had jumped ship the minute we left and they are now swimming in a sea of broon mediocrity. Toure and Sinclair weren't good enough for the EPL never mind Barca.
We as Rangers fans expect instant success but the likes of Biffo have been proved correct in their realistic assessment of the team in the summer, that we would struggle in our first year back. Once we sort ourselves out then just maybe Scotland can regain some of its credibility. Celtic are no bigger than Rosenborg, Gothenborg and the like without us challenging them, and it would be the same reversed.
I stopped watching the Champions League when Bt got the rites. Imo Sky and BT are one of the same thing owned by the same group of shareholders and are charging people double for the same product so that they can give the likes of Barcelona and Man U extra cash to widen the gap, whilst we scrap about looking for freebies. It is not Football as I know it. They're welcome to it, I'll watch the Gers! Hopefully we can put together some sort of run and the manger can pick a team we can all cheer on, because one thing has been proved over the last 5 years, WE ARE ARE THEE BEST SUPPORTED TEAM ON THE PLANET. Success can be temporary (like Celtics attendances) whereas our fans remain loyal. And that is why we will be back at the top of Scottish Football soon enough. Maybe no this year but soon enough.

14 Sep 2016 15:50:40
Messis goals don't count he didn't pay his taxes.

14 Sep 2016 16:05:28
Best supported team on the planet? Deary me how blinkerd are you? Form is temporary Liquidation is forever! The 2 games V BMG are what celtic will hope to win and get a Europe league tie after xmas. The Folk that thought cfc wouldn't get gubbed by Barcelona are beyond deluded. Now it's taking a year recob yet you where championing how this will be 55 under a great manager. It will be many a year for Rfc to build a squad and sort out the financial clusterf#@k that never ends. At odds with MA Puma no listing, no credit from any Banking Institution in the land. A stadium needing millions spent on constructural work and still a loss making business that will require more crisis loans. How much equity does DK think there will be left after all the millions are repaid.

Loki don't say that you will hurt their feelings as they will need to start thinking about reality. Let them live in their world a little longer where everything is going ok and nothing's changed.
