That Hibs game on Sunday showed how badly we need near enough a new defence . I still actually can't believe how easy Tavernier was skinned out wide for the last Hibs goal. The lad went by him and pulled away far too easily, McGregor done the same to him in the last old firm game too.
For someone who can go forward and show good pace at times, he's as slow as feck with one on ones going the other way! He surely must analysis that himself and look to sort as he won't stay in the team under Gerrard otherwise albeit he's got a lot of good qualities.

It was the last minutes of a full season. His legs had gone and he was against one of the fastest players on the park who had only came on 30 minutes or so before that. Hibs were smelling blood at that moment they were all moving quicker than us.

Have to agree with you DK. I think if Tav scores a hatrick, set 3 goals up, cleared 2 off the line and helped the Union Bears start a few songs that still will not be good enough for some of our fans. He has been our best player this year . give the boy a break. eh!

In a back 4 his primary responsibility is to defend. In a back 3 / 5 as a wingback he has a liecence to get forward. No point scoring 3 if your responsible for conceding 3 the net effect doesn’t benefit Rangers. Either change the formation to suit him or cash in on the transfer. As for our best player this season, that’s nothing to be proud of!

Yip, said it before rossiter is a £3-5M player already with the potential for much more, just 2 years ago he was captain of England U19’s. Hopefully a fresh start for him but I fear he is injury prone, still got 2 years to go I believe and hopefully we will get a run from him as he is aclass act!

Really hope Gerard builds solid foundation from back, a gk maybe Danny ward 6ft 3 commanding presence at least 2 commanding CBS, a right back as jt has no competition a left bk if Wallace shown the door. Maybe rossiter will come good, jack will get fit and you have mcrorie. need two strikers maybe a creator/ winger. 8 or 9 players not ideal but needs must.

I'm expecting Morelos to be off in the summer if the Chinese club or anyone else are interested and if we're lucky enough to get the reported 11m for him that looks like is will be mostly spent on Mcburnie 4m and Marriott 5m as seems SG wants these two as his strike force next season and I'd say that would be a great trade after watching how Morelos form dipped once he'd signed a contract extension I'm very excited about Marriott especially as he's scored 33 in all comps this season and apparently is the highest scorer in the whole of the EFL and Mcburnie 9 in 17 since turn of the year think those two would be a smashing pairing with someone in the hole behind them

Personally don't think morelos will leave in the summer. If he'd kicked on and scored over 20 league goals then teams may have sniffed but would be surprised now if anyone is interested. I think he could be good if he is wiĺling to be coached and work on his attitude.

i don't see why we should get rid of morelos. for me he would be great playing as an attacking midfielder. he creates space for others. he can defend and not scared of a tackle. i honestly think this would be great for him. he does a hell of a lot of running and can hold the ball up well. would also take pressure off of scoring all the time. if he chips in with 20 a season plus if we managed to get 2 strikers then that would be great. arfield to play out left perhaps with murphy as backup.

I think we need to get the McGinn rumours out of our heads, he will not come to us and I do not think we are overly interested in him. We have a strong central midfield atm (Doc, Jack, McCrorie, Dorrans and Arfield) and I see no need to bring in someone like McGinn.
SG needs to concentrate on our defence, we will need to CB's and LB and RB to cover for Tav and John (2 players I think SG will see as key players) .
I honestly don't think we are as far away from Celtic as the recent scorelines suggest, we are 4/ 5 signings away from challenging. we need to remember it was only about a month ago we thought we could mount a late challenge. Turn Ibrox into a fortress and Rodgers will be worried.

That was a great game yesterday for Gerrard to watch as it was our whole season in one game: losing silly goals, a good bit of fight but no real leadership, throwing it away, victim of poor refereeing, some good attacking play and goals from midfield. He should have learned a lot just by watching that game.

Cannon - I completely agree, from a neutral point of view it was an outstanding game and showed SG what is good and bad about our team.
CD Ranger - I think the Tav / Candieas partnership has been the best thing about our season and I hope Gerrard sticks with them. If we had decent CB's then we would not be worried about Tav's defensive ability.

Jboy if we had two centre backs worthy of the name and McCrorie filling in the gaps, Tavernier could then patrol the flank with Candeias to greater effect, like John and maybe Murphy on the other side. It's not what Tav is doing that's the main issue here, it's the incompetence of those who should have his back.
In saying that, we've had stacks of coaches and 'managers' who have stuck with a failed system week in, week out, when it was crying out for us to play three at the back to compensate for our weaknesses. Tav is a victim of their incompetence. We all know he can't defend, but he can certainly play down that flank. We just need some tactical nous to use him to best effect.

Been saying for ages if we get upwards of £3m for tav then we take it but i'd keep him and look for a solid right back and play him 1 forward as right mid/ winger and it means that you have cover for right back if any injuries.

Shagger and Arfield in. Murphy a cert. Sign 2 first team CBs, I’d try for either or both of the Souttar brothers. Take Cummings as a squad player for small fee and get them to chuck in Barrie McKay in a BOGOF (half a joke but i'd take him back) . Sign John McGinn for £2.5M (also realise some will scoff at this but Celtic pip us to several transfers and although the link as there they’re not buying him while Broony’s still going, why not sign the lad he’s obviously a player) . Punt all the useless empty shirts (Herrera, Martin, Pena, etc) . Build midfield with McCrorie, Rossiter, McGinn and toughen up our defence. Scoring goals has been fine just need to have a solid shape and a stronger midfield. Hope the Gerrard era is successful, exciting times!

I know a few people will disagree with me but I would keep Morelos and play him a bit deeper behind the striker, he has strength, stamina, good linkup play and knows how to rattle the defences, also the kid is young and still learning hopefully Stevie G will be the manager who coaches him to a higher level,
Also I would keep Alves who in my opinion changed the game for us yesterday again winning everything in the air and scored a world class free kick, full credit to Jimmy Nichol for making such an inspired substitution,

I'd like to see 2xcb, 1xcm, 1xam,1xcf, if there's money available, that's where it's needed.
There is enough quality around the remaining first team to mount a challenge, with the right coaching.

Glad to see the back of that season really looking forward to the transfer window and next season with big Stevie G in charge, celtic finished the season on 82 points witch is the lowest for 5 years so I’m really quite optimistic about our chances next season, I think a good manager could have won it this year but some dumb onion thought Pedro was a good idea and then Murty 🙄 but it’s done now onwards and upwards

Bit more fight today to come back from 3-0 shows what making a sub when needed does to the game. gutted it ended up a draw but Impressed with Rossiter. Seriously poor refereeing again today bottled it a few times
