14 May 2016 21:55:02
The Barton move will either work out as genius or mistake.
I obviously hope it's the prior but could understand the caution voiced by others.
However he is not the worst character we have ever signed. Ladies and gentlemen we all remember El Hadj Diouf!

I said then I was unhappy we were signing such a character but when he pulls on our jersey I'll wipe the slate clean and see what he does.
The results then we're indifferent in my opinion but if I can cope with him Barton will be a walk in the park!

15 May 2016 11:20:51
I've said before, Barton could be the difference between winning the league, or not, he is daft sometimes, but a great driving force in the middle of the park.

14 May 2016 21:33:08
Article from Barton talking wages and wage structure and his distinct lack of being motivated by money. hopefully this is a good sign for us.

14 May 2016 17:27:09
i hope roy keane becomes the new celtic manager he has so far had no success as a manager and always a chance of a bonus a square go with liewell.

14 May 2016 22:24:43
I don't want Keane but to be fair he won the championship. And Mark Warburton couldn't get promoted from said championship.

14 May 2016 23:20:51
He was managing Sunderland and Warburton was managing Brentford.

Though statistics show Warburton was the most successful manager on a win rate basis (51%) that Brentford have had and he used just 24 players in the season you mention.

The team were beaten in play off semis after Warburton guided them to fifth place (highest placing since 1934-35) so he wasn't to far off the premiership.

14 May 2016 23:28:09
Yes but Keane was managing Sunderland and MW was managing a team who'd just been promoted from league 1. You only have to look at how Brentford have done this season without him.

14 May 2016 23:45:10
Much better squad though TP so not really comparable in that respect. Keane would be at the bottom of my list slightly ahead of Lennon, Mackay and the usual suspects such as Coyle. Would only be a matter of time before he fell out with someone and alienated himself from the club imo!

14 May 2016 23:04:22
I think there are a few more resources available at Sunderland! Mind you Ronny would still struggle.

15 May 2016 00:00:37
I know you are just fishing Poetic, but I'll bite.

Sunderland are and have always been an established team who are well off and have had a lot of success in the in the 2nd tier of English football in recent times. No doubt Keane done an ok job, but Warburton reached a height with a fairly average Brentford team which shouldn't have been possible, with a lot less resources.

In a nutshell, Warburton is a far better manager than Keane and will go much further in the game.

15 May 2016 01:17:24
I didn't say he didn't have a better team. I didn't say the teams were comparable. I am/ was simply applying context. Fact is, he has had succes - and the original post claimed otherwise.

That said, I'd be wary of playing the "but he was managing x" card - otherwise you are indirectly removing any sense of accomplishment you may attribute to Warburton at Rangers.

15 May 2016 10:52:30
Don't know what all the fuss is as it's the easiest job in football managing the old firm. Look at all the managers who have moved on after being successful up here. Smith hopeless, o Neil hopeless, mcleish hopeless, Strachan hopeless, Lennon hopeless. Only one I would say done well after leaving was advocate winning the uefa cup.

15 May 2016 12:26:07
Can honestly say I couldn't give a monkeys what's happening over there, would rather talk and read about my own club.

15 May 2016 14:11:13
Don't like to admit this but m oneil was hardly hopeless mate. He is/ was a top quality manager.

14 May 2016 23:01:20
I hope roy keane does get the celtic gig because imo warburton will wipe the floor with him and I truly believe that, keane isn't a good manager.

15 May 2016 15:42:01
And, Walter Smith was invited to Everton's centenary dinner, as the guest of honour of the board and Bill Kenwright, and introduced to the stage as the man, without whom, Everton would not be where they are today, he kept them in the English Premier League, while forced to sell every first team player, inc, D Ferguson, he saved them from oblivion, and Everton are extremely grateful, if you don't, or, won't believe that then read Davie Weir or Bill Kenwrights books, Walter was given a 3 minute standing ovation, because some people understand football.

14 May 2016 20:41:54
Barton is exactly what we need for the premiership. We have played tippy tappy all season and been bullied off the ball by smaller teams. Warburton is a genius with this attempt to sign an all out warrior. Let's hope it goes through as it will give us real muscle in midfield.

14 May 2016 20:10:09
Barton the time bomb don't want him anywhere near ibrox.

14 May 2016 20:53:06
Time bomb? The guy is exactly who the type of player who need!

15 May 2016 00:53:25
Barton just what the doctor ordered. No more out muscled in midfield. Celtic the sheep and hearts will be worried.

15 May 2016 15:43:48
Dazza, are you mad? A real football warrior, like hurlock was, only a better player, exactly what we need.

14 May 2016 19:32:53
The Player of the Year in the best team in the English Championship. Has played for England. Is a leader who can dominate the centre of the park. Plays in a position where we lack any depth. Has loads of experience at the top of the game and is a FREE AGENT!

But we shouldn't sign him because of his attitude. Don't really get it.

But it's happening so, there we go. Welcome Joey Barton. Can't wait for this signing to be announced.

14 May 2016 19:22:07
A was at Loch Lomond the day golfing and joey Barton was there way mark warburton and Davie weir would take him for 2 year.

14 May 2016 19:09:38
How much do u think Shiels and Laws Wages are? Because whatever they are, that can go towards Joey Boiis wages, good quality signin if we get him btw,

14 May 2016 19:08:36
So I've not posted for a few months as the last time I said about Warbs and Weir being fantastic and their signing policy. I was told off by the "wait and see brigade".
Well now I'm even happier than before! Crooks, Windass, Rossitter and Barton! I follow English football and all 4 are quality! Especially Barton! The guy is a no nonsense player. Wins the ball, dirty at times, loves a battle and gives the ball to the flair players! Couldn't be a happier bear! 🔴⚪️🔵.

14 May 2016 19:41:48
Has Barton signed?

14 May 2016 20:32:04
I've been of the opinion for years we always need a player in our ranks who can mix it up. Someone who's going to protect our young skill full players and when they get snapped. Wasn't convinced when the rumour started but now I'd love joey Barton to sign.

14 May 2016 20:59:21
Not sure if he had signed yet. There are rumours to suggest both. However Joey Barton in streets ahead of any other CM on Scotland, exactly what we need! Can't wait to see him in the famous blue 🔴⚪️🔵.

14 May 2016 19:08:04
A couple of months ago I wrote on here that my dream season would be 1 Rangers get promoted 2 Hibs stay down 3 Dundee United get relegated 4 Watford (my local club ) stay up 5 Leicester win league 6 Newcastle go down 7 Rangers win Scottish Cup. Its 6 out of 6 so far and hopefully next weekend it will be a clean sweep. Wish i'd put a bet on now.

14 May 2016 19:24:23
janesaddiction, don't ask what you would have won , depending how much u would have put on, but even for a pound you would have some odds for that bet .

14 May 2016 19:43:47
Janesaddicton

Just a pity that Watford saw fit to get rid of the manager. Shocking decision for a guy that comfortable survived their first season back in the Premiership and got to the semi finals of the FA cup.

14 May 2016 21:26:27
Couldnt agree more Biffo, in my eyes he did nothing wrong, hopefully he will get the Valencia job and do well, poor decision by the owners. PS Hope Barton signs, him and Rositter will add some much needed steel to midfield, still need a number 9 (Tom Bradshaw? ) and a strong centre half (Michael Hector on loan from Chelsea? )

14 May 2016 18:53:17
Lads not a rumour (I never get them b4 u all do anyway lol) just a wee reminder that Windass might be playing tonight on Sky Sports! Good chance to see what he's all s out. Think Crooks is injured though?

14 May 2016 19:04:03
Snap, good to get a good look at him, Crooks still out ankle operation, but will be fine for pre seasons .
Watched videos of Windass a few times but never seen him live, and cause its a play off, no holds barred, looking forward to it .

14 May 2016 19:20:37
I've got a fiver on Windass for first goal.

14 May 2016 18:39:45
well didn't see this happnin hope we can get joey barton in the famous jersey. defo been a fanny in his time but seams to have settled down a bit if he stays on the right path wht a signing. been a big shock to most of us but the manky mob must b getting worried now with the players we are starting to bring in. cani wait scott browns knees must b knocking together hearing this.

14 May 2016 17:58:12
Nicky Law and Dean Shiels OUT

Jordan Rossiter and Joey Barton IN

If that's not league winning ambition I don't know what is. Will be chuffed to bits if that's the way it works out!

A new striker and a defender or 2 and things are looking really good.

14 May 2016 17:51:57
Joey Barton at Murray Park earlier today Seemingly, Frank McParland has a big say in him possibly signing for Rangers, McParland brought him to Burnley last year! Apparently Burnley have only offered Joey Barton a one year deal, whereas, Rangers are offering him two years! Negotiations are at the table I believe if Joey Barton agrees the 2 year deal it will be a paycut deal (somewhere in the region of 15k a week) along with a free transfer but the extra year, I understand he wants more and will certainly mount up to a better deal than the one year offered by Burnley FC.

14 May 2016 18:45:16
Don't believe the Joey Barton one .
1st, age, yes we need a bit of experience .
2nd, another midfielder
3rd not the most gifted, and feel he would slow game down, def can't see it happen and wouldn't think signing him just for the name is our style .

14 May 2016 20:47:50
Brian, we play 3 in the middle. So we have Crooks, Rossiter, Halliday, Holt. 4 players to cover 3 positions for an entire season? We need another midfielder, and experience too. Sure Forrester has played a floating role in there but he is no CM. Murdoch might get involved in the squad but most likely won't get a large look in, so that could be 6 CM we have to provide cover and competition.

14 May 2016 17:21:51
Just been talkin to a couple of mates- Brentford fans- both say Alex Pritchard is outstanding and ran the show in many of his Brentford appearances. Sounds good, hope we sign him.

14 May 2016 17:12:31
Anyone know when the new kits getting launched?

14 May 2016 18:19:52
Couldn't care less, fattie won't get my money.

14 May 2016 18:34:08
Who cares i'm not buying it haven't done so since ashley get all our pounds. i personally think gers shouldn't change it. just wear last year's strip. don't think they law into that is there.

14 May 2016 12:23:03
normally i would not comment on future signings but in this instance i will the lad gilks who played in goal for blackpool is available i seen him 8 or 9 times for blackpool and he was very good he also got a scotland cap he would be better than bell and puh fotheringham for no 1 spot?

14 May 2016 16:18:10
maybe he's just playing games wi burnley heads. he will demand at least 15,000 a week but we need balls and he has 3 of them.

14 May 2016 16:40:50
I'd take Barton in a heartbeat. Yes he's reckless, yes he's trouble, but he is a cut above what we have. He will offer steel to our very talented but quite lightweight team. He was getting touted for a move to Arsenal not long ago and in my opinion he would have been a smash in that team as well. Arsenal are the same as us, very easy on the eye but lacking a bit of mettle.
One or two like Barton (experienced, hard players) to go with the young skillful players we have and I'll be more than confident of winning that league next year. I think things are shaping up nicely, Celtic haven't even got a Manager yet (and i'm not worried about who their linked with, any of them) and we could have 4 players in already 2 with EPL experience.

14 May 2016 17:37:03
Very good assessment bob. Couldn't agree more. I have never really liked him but if he were to sign then I would get behind him 100% Definitely add that bit of steele to our team.

14 May 2016 17:39:30
Joey Barton would be an amazing player for us plus would give experience that is needed in our midfield.

14 May 2016 18:51:51
Is our new signing Rossiter not a hard midfielder, also Crooks, why is everyone pushing for a guy who will demand massive wages and is at the end of his career, come on guys .

14 May 2016 19:08:41
In my opinion, Brown's legs have gone. He may have been playing unfit for the last 3 months to be fair, and hopefully with rest and a decent preseason under his belt he'll be nearer his old self, but I do think they've gone.

Brown vs Barton 3/ 4 years ago - absolutely?

Now? Both teams have more energetic midfielders and in truth, there is every chance that this hypothetical game would be all hype - and pass them both by.

14 May 2016 20:01:11
Barton's past includes some diabolical behaviour and his obsession with social media is not in keeping with Ranger's standards but as a player he is top notch and would certainly do a job in the SPL. Everyone should be given the chance to change for the better. If he has seen the light, screwed the nut and wants tho play in Ranger's blue I for one would welcome him. That is of course on the basis that MW and the team sign him for then we can be sure he understands the standards required to be a Ranger and that we are getting value for money. In Warbs we trust.

14 May 2016 20:07:55
Hey PP, welcome.
How's your search coming along for a new manager? Maybe there might be some more "failed" city traders around, one never knows!

14 May 2016 20:47:30
Apologies, that post was meant to be a reply to Deecee's post below re Brown vs Barton. Not sure what happened there, although it's not a huge deal given this too is a Joey Barton thread.

Pie- I couldn't tell you. I'm not on the board, nor do I have any say on the appointment. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of failed city traders around; I'm less sure as to why you've put failed in quotation marks though.

14 May 2016 16:59:06
I agree Barton would be a good signing and MW is the man. picking the players . He knows what he needs and must be confident he can manage him and bring out the best in him . I ain't got much wrong so far!

14 May 2016 22:14:54
TPP. I suspect the quotation marks are a direct response to your comment on the Celtic banter page yesterday.

14 May 2016 23:00:10
Bruisedbear-

So he's using them incorrectly?

Sidenote, if he wanted a direct response he could have just, I dunno, directly responded?

Maybe that's too simple a concept. Maybe it's better to wait a day or two later and throw it in randomly on a different post, on a different forum. I guess I won't ever truly know. Perhaps if I trawl the Manchester United forum in a few days he'll have an answer for me in a thread relating to Van Gaal.

15 May 2016 08:37:46
You'll be aware that many people choose not to contribute to the rumour sites of teams that they don't support - for a variety of reasons. I'm assuming P&B saw your comment on the Celtic Banter website, got slightly irritated by it (as I did) but selected not to respond (as I did) . When you posted something on the Rangers website, P&B took the opportunity to have a dig at you for your original comment (before I did) .

And then you reverted to type became a smart-arse or came up with an interesting response - depending on how people view your posts.

Personally speaking, when a poster of another team tries to be conciliatory on this website but is known to be inflamitory on the website of his/ her own team - they lose a bit of credibility.

I do accept, however, that you are happy to debate with any poster of any team - and appear equally happy to get ripped into fans of your own team.

And sorry P&B if my assumptions are wrong.

15 May 2016 11:52:53
You do miss one key point though: my response was to a Rangers' fans question. This wasn't a shady huddle in the secret corridors of the dark web. It was an open forum and I responded- just as I would have responded here. I'm neither here to pacify or insult - and your suggestion of such is contradicted by not only the rest of your post, but by the very fact this conversation is being had at all.

You can take about credibility -- and what does/ doesn't raise/ lower it -- and that's your right.

If someone is irritated or offended by something (as you were) but chooses to slink off in silence (as you did) , only to bring it up at another time in the hope of scoring points (as you have) - then their credibility is non existent to me.

Finally, call me what you want, but at least I have the courage of my convictions. If I don't agree with something I'll say it, whether I'm in the (Bears') den or not. What I won't do is run back to what I believe is a safe place, and wait for the (unarmed) offender to venture in days later before offering a pathetic diluted excuse of an attack.

15 May 2016 12:52:42
TPP

No key point missed, but thanks for the response. Some things don't need a convoluted explanation. And I called you nothing - but expressed how your posts may appear to some.

Your input on these sites is often interesting - keep it up.

BB.

14 May 2016 15:53:18
barton v brown. mouth watering.

14 May 2016 16:53:26
I disagree, any time Brown has been put under pressure in an Old Firm game, he's totally vanished.

I don't think it will be as good as people seem to think.

14 May 2016 18:50:14
Barton v brown is no contest imo, if joey barton does sign for us he'd trample the so called hard man (not) broony into the ground with ease!

14 May 2016 15:52:29
J Barton?

I'm sorry, he may have significant experience and may add some steel to our midfield. But he is also a self-promoting liability - affray, assault, criminal damage, violent conduct, a disciplinary record as long as John Holmes tool, criticising his team mates publicly. Oh, and didn't he stub out a cigar in someone's face? And the list goes on.

What a class act!

14 May 2016 16:04:17
There's no taking away he's done wrong mate but he Seems to have settled down in the last few years maybe becoming a dad helped who knows! he's just been player of the year with burnley as they won the league and made championship team of the year he could give us 2 good seasons no problem.

14 May 2016 16:18:27
He may well have and I accept he could be a player but I prefer Rangers players who have a bit of class off the pitch as well as on it. Gazza was an exception because he was world class despite mental health issues, or maybe because of them. JB is not world class.

There must be other experienced options with dig, steel and character.

14 May 2016 16:35:19
well he has went through the last couple of seasons without any series trouble warburton and mcparland are pals with sean diche harry redpath told the hat if he could get him go for it because he would revel in the ibrox atmosphere.

14 May 2016 16:49:06
joey barton is as about world class in terms of signings that we are going to make, we could never sign a player of the year in the english premiership now we have a chance to sign a promoted team's player of the year for free and there are complaints? come on now give him a chance, (aston villa newcastle norwich we couldn't realistically afford there best player)

14 May 2016 18:30:39
I'm sorry but Joey Barton is a signing that will improve our team massively I for one hope he signs.

14 May 2016 20:00:44
The life and crimes of Joey Barton - The Telegraph. Enough said.

14 May 2016 20:34:09
Brown has been classed as a "Thug". Barton has proved many times he's a Liability, Thug, Bully, (Also a closet cfc fan). Diouf was a choir boy compared to Mr Barton.

14 May 2016 22:19:13
Pud. I think it is irrelevant what team he pretends to support. But I agree he's a nutter and shouldn't be entertained at Ibrox, even if he entertains at Ibrox.

14 May 2016 15:25:27
No probs with Barton need someone with a bit dig.

14 May 2016 15:44:24
I hope he does sign its very good getting all these youngsters but we need experience and let's be honest here Barton is better than anyone else in spfl.

14 May 2016 15:56:13
Barton up against Scott brown, would love to see that. the guy has a shaky past but he's been class this season for burnley, he be good signing i think.

14 May 2016 16:26:53
Only 1 winner there an it ain't brown. i'm starting to get very excited at players we are signing.

14 May 2016 15:20:36
Well feck me, seems like the Joey Barton rumour is correct!
Extra spicy Old Firm anyone?

14 May 2016 15:17:00
sign barton. toldya. he can do a job with the right supervision. remember diouf.

14 May 2016 15:34:31
Aye diouf was pish mate and he was a total Fanny! joey Barton is a good player would be good signing for us.

14 May 2016 15:38:23
agreed ryan. was just an instance.

14 May 2016 15:05:00
I cannot believe that Barton is at Auchenhowie!

14 May 2016 15:10:01
Put the other day about barton and people refused to believe me but there you go.

14 May 2016 15:18:00
Wow, looks like Joey Bartons gona be a Ger soon,

14 May 2016 15:03:33
What does people think about the possibility of signing Rolando Aaron's? Only seen parts of him on youtube so can't really comment but he is supposed to be a wonder kid at newcastle, arsenal are after him because he's out of contract at the end of the season but they would need to pay millions whereas we could get another bargain.

14 May 2016 16:01:28
I thought he looked very good and was surprised he didn't feature more with Newcastle think he would be a great signing but think there will be others in for me and doubt we will get him.

14 May 2016 15:00:46
Sky Sports News Joey Barton at Rangers Training Ground Today.

14 May 2016 14:58:00
WARBURTONTHEFITHTEENT

turn on sky sports news "JOEY BARTON AT RANGERS TRAINING GROUND TODAY "

For a start a wouldn't get a redneck saying anything in here mate as its called rangersrumours and what i passed on may have been a rumour but it was a text i got yesterday so was only passing it on.

Second thing don't bother telling me to reply and say it was made up to save myself " a redneck ". A couldny give two ****s if he signs wis only passin on wit a heard.

14 May 2016 15:49:45
Quite right mate I heard the rumour a week ok that there was interest in him to I hope he does sign for us but a think he will have more offers to consider aswell.

14 May 2016 16:48:07
KM90, my sincere apologies to your good self mate, I just couldn't see this for the life of me, great scoop km90 and I totally take back what I said in my post, hope you accept my apology.

14 May 2016 14:34:24
The only person Mr Stubbs will be playing mind games with next season will be the DHSS when he gets his P45. I am beginning to think Stubbs would be a good choice for the Celtic job. Young inexperienced no idea how to outfox the Rangers he fits all the criteria. Stubbs makes Ronny look like a genius. I am looking forward to seeing Scott Brown getting sent off next season when our young lads are winding him up to exploding point. Younger. Fitter, Better. We are onto you lot.

14 May 2016 14:11:33
Wimbeldon v accy stanley in play offs on sky sports tonight . get a look at josh windass.

14 May 2016 15:40:22
Better off looking at Lyle Taylor of Wimbledon.

14 May 2016 13:49:05
Out in Spain and just switched my phone on to check the Falkirk score and to my delight Hibbs staying down again Happy days.
Rangers snapped up a very promising lad from Liverpool and The Celtic in dissaray
The Sun is out the beer is cold and my cup final ticket is in my pocket.
its great to be a Rangers fan
Massive thanks to all the players for an excellent season and to MW DW and DK fantastic job.

14 May 2016 11:59:04
The Hibs players are bound to feel totally deflated after last night and that defeat was a sore one to take. Where does this leave us? We know Cummings will start as he's said he wishes he played us every week as he always scores. Apart from being a bit rusty there are two things I'm hoping to see on Saturday. Foderingham remembering he has two goal posts to cover and Zelalem in the starting 11. We know who the other 10 are.

14 May 2016 10:13:59
Does anyone know if Ryan Hardie is available for selection for the final?

I know Dundee Utd got fined etc. this week for playing someone back from their loan but that was under SPFL rules not the SFA. Plus Hardie featured for us against Cowdenbeath so no issue of being cuptied.

At the very least he would be a great option from the bench for the last 20 minutes.

14 May 2016 11:38:00
I'd assume we've seeked clarification on this but i'd rather not risk fine or retrospective punishment in playing him.

14 May 2016 11:52:34
I don't think he is which is a pity. With Forrester out and Ball suspended I think we won't be able to fill the bench.

14 May 2016 16:13:59
Biffo316

The bench is a concern of mine for next week as we only seem to have midfield cover now that Ball is out.

14 May 2016 10:10:58
Hibs bottled it again and Dundee United relegated. There must be karma after all! With Hibs, Dundee Utd, Dunfermline Athletic and possibly Kilmarnock all in the same league next season, who knows who might go up? Raith or QOS maybe. lol.

14 May 2016 12:56:04
What about alex rae's st. mirren doiger? They will be there or there about under rae, its going to be a very hard scottish championship to call next season, the hibees and dundee utd could be stuck down there for years and I make no apologies for saying I hope they are! KARMA!

14 May 2016 07:43:11
Warburton has said from day 1 he will only add someone to the squad that adds value and has a sell on value. We are looking for young blood on low salaries.

Barton and Graham are not good enough and would be after a big package. We would get no return on these two. The days of signing big earners are over. The club will be run like a business not some millionaires toy.

The future is with the youth, in Warburton we trust.

Looking forward to next season. It's just a shame Hibs won't be there :)

14 May 2016 10:10:26
Barton is not good enough? he's just won player of the year with burnley in the championship he's more than good enough for a bit of experience for a few years.

Joey Barton is a terrific player imo.

Barton would be a cracking addition, but its not going to happen, think a couple of loan additions and the midfield would be solid.

Need competition for places/ back ups for the full back positions and i'd like a striker, always unsure if waghorn prefers right wing or through the middle. But seeing as Clark is moving on, would like another option. Not Danny Graham but.

First time post here bears have followed the page since last summer just have never posted.

Just watched the magic hats bt sport interview from last week and I can't fault the guy. It's great to finally have a manger again who does his homework on every team we play and I think he probably spends as much time watching our opponents for a Saturday as he does on our own squad. Which I don't think had been happening from a manager for a long time.

Exciting times ahead bears looking forward to next season. Plus hibs are staying down😂 🔴⚪️🔵🇬🇧 W. A. T. P.

I'm in sunny Croatia, can't get a uk paper here, but had £200 on a draw last night, still happy though, hibs, Utd, toon, all down, used to like Newcastle, till I went on the toon site after we went down, some where calling us zombies or worse, wonder what side of the fence they were on. ? There was a good bit of hatred on there, they were sent down by the mackems, karma.
