What do people think of this 1 how about hatem ben arfa he's out of contract with nice in france i thought he was excellent when he went to newcastle but kinda lost his way i reckon he would be good for us in SPL not sure what kinda wages he would be after.

14 Jan 2016 18:56:29
Good player but bad apple I think hence why he's been surplus to requirements in england don't think he's the sort of hard working team player who MW seems to like.

14 Jan 2016 19:45:13
Yes been on fire this year will have his pick of clubs.

14 Jan 2016 16:53:14
I don't believe we need O'Halloran and believe that we will win the league with what we got. As for a striker then Waghorn is scoring us the goals gives us a target man someone to assist Waghorn up front and watch the goals fly in. If O'Halloran plays who is dropped to the bench. Certainly would not drop Holt or halliday nor Waghjorn let's hope we keep hold of him.

14 Jan 2016 21:10:45
Made a similar post recently regarding if we do sign defensive mid fielder who do we drop?
That is the managers prob, we have the two accrington boys to come in, in the summer, and also listening to MW the big spending will be done in summer to take us to next level , who the hell do we drop, exciting times .

14 Jan 2016 21:45:00
Miller would be dropped if O'halloran comes a think.

15 Jan 2016 00:14:38
It is all about having a quality squad. We are very limited for quality players just now if we exclude the youngsters.

I suspect that we will see two or three new signings before the end of the month but whether O'Halloran is one of them is debatable. I doubt we will match what St Johnstone want and I don't see the boy putting in a transfer request just to move to us.

In any event I suspect that Mr Warburton has other targets and who knows, the St Johnstone guy might just be a smoke screen.

14 Jan 2016 21:54:47
Better players down south, I hope mw sticks to the southern market, I don't want to give any money to other spl clubs but I'm bitter and will never forget how they kicked us when the club already had been ripped to shreds only my opinion tho.

14 Jan 2016 16:40:42
During MW Press Confrence the Boss was asked if a deal would be completed before the weekend.

His answer was "We're working on it".

He had a smile on his face suggesting there may be a deal very close.

Thinking it could be a loan deal from a championship club or a deal for Toumani Diagouraga. Hopefully it's Toumani.

14 Jan 2016 21:36:58
Thorn 76, MW is the key to us winning this league and I am sure he will manage that.
I think he is doing a brilliant job, under our current circumstances, but I sincerely hope that restraints do not dampen his love for our club, and he gets the necessary backing to put us back to where we want to be.

14 Jan 2016 21:45:27
Thorn that's what I love about MW, he doesn't go about we are going to do this or that, does it the way it should be, get the business done then go public, and for all the DK knockers please wait till end of the season and see where we are, there are things happening from youth levels through to first team, all costing money .

14 Jan 2016 23:13:40
Billyb, I think MW realised what he was in for when he joined our great club.
Not only the media, but the financial restraints the club is under. The business in the summer proved he could work within a realistic budget. You can see his passion and it surrounds everything he does, he gives the players belief, the board and most of all he gives the fans belief.

Brian-p, MW actions are those of a smart and intelligent manager. He is asked the same questions every week and answers them in a respectful but definitive way. He has used every single penny wisely and won't over spend on any player.

MW impact on our club will last for decades.

14 Jan 2016 16:12:05
I see wabara has left Barnsley after the end of his short term contract, I'd like to see rangers sign him as cover for tavernier. What does everyone else think of this?

14 Jan 2016 16:18:37
No chance tried to hold us to ransom following his trial not good enough for Barnsley not good enough for us.

14 Jan 2016 16:20:15
Must be a reason why we did not take him while on trial and also why Barnsley ain't extended his deal.

14 Jan 2016 16:23:33
As well that's out the window he's just signed for Wigan lol.

14 Jan 2016 14:17:23
if we get oholloran and the guy from Brentford and the two from
Accrington and as the manager says he will still look to strengthen in the summer whom are looking to offload I would have thought
sending bell on load to the dons until the summer would reduce the wage bill and then release him in the summer because DK must be taking some convince to release funds to buy players.

14 Jan 2016 16:07:07
according to stjonnstone rangers have 2 bids in and are no where near there value of the player what makes our chairman think we are going to get good players for peanuts these are important players for the there clubs not bit part players like tav waghorn keirnan ect in the summer so will cost us more money if none of these of two players are signed by the club then this would be a disappointment and would show our chairman doesn't believe there value for money even tho our manager thinks they are he said he would back the manager so its time to stick to that promise.

14 Jan 2016 19:54:53
I think that they will want a million roughly for o'halloran but I don't think that we should pay anything near that considering we got Waggy for 200k. Maybe we are better waiting to find another lower league english player as SPFL teams are not going to part with their best players cheaply ESPECIALLY to us.

14 Jan 2016 12:29:06
Just shows you a lot of people don't bother with paying attention to any other teams! Ohalloran has ripped teams apart the last two seasons not just us! Rated him but as said before he is a massive Tim and his dad is coach at Celtic! I would personally try for Sam Nicholson from hearts! He looks a decent talent and stop embarrising ourself and bid a reasonable bid for Diagougraga because Halliday is not a centre mid he can not talk and always gets caught behind the ball (boys club stuff)

14 Jan 2016 13:41:18
He's scored only 11 goals in two seasons. It's hardly ripping teams apart statistics pal. We should tell SJ to sook it and go get better elsewhere. Sam Nicholson is hopeless anawl. He is just a run of the mill average player like O'halloran.

14 Jan 2016 14:31:56
Does it matter what religion he is? or who his dad coaches? if the manager believes he's for us then that's good enough for me! has he said he is looking to sign him to play striker?

14 Jan 2016 14:38:39
Aye Stevie, was looking at his record and it's hardly inspiring. Maybe a good thing SJ turned us down. I think we could do better than him. You need a bit more than just pace in this day and age (ref Fraser Aird)

14 Jan 2016 17:32:20
Just compare it to Jayson Cummings and he is 5 years younger. We should pull out all the stops for him at the end of the season. We need a sitting midfielder and an experienced commanding defender than we do a striker at the minute.

14 Jan 2016 14:03:12
I agree, these we person teams think they can hold us to ransom, let em rot playing in front of 1500 tuchters every other week.

14 Jan 2016 17:46:28
Sam Nicholson would walk into our team ahead of any player we have the boy oozes class, only a matter of time before he gets snapped up. And stats aren't everything, how many had waghorn scored before he came?

14 Jan 2016 19:45:51
Jason Cummings will be in a jail cell next year anyway.

14 Jan 2016 21:04:22
Aye, should be for that Wehrmacht hair cut, so 1940s.

14 Jan 2016 18:51:08
Got to agree about Nicholson.
Boys a class act.

14 Jan 2016 10:08:00
Why are we going for o'halloran anyway 23 games this season and only four goals. Leave him where he is thanks.

14 Jan 2016 10:29:31
Totally agree more of a winger than a striker.

14 Jan 2016 11:48:08
We are Rangers and regardless of what level we are playing at I think it is fair to expect and maintain the type of calibre of player that we require and can expect to be signed for our team - The current nucleus of out team are turning in performances higher than expected and are a joy to watch - therefore in my opinion we should be looking to enhance the quality of player looking to join our club in this current windows and more importantly in the summer should our objective of promotion to the SPL be achieved - In my opinion I feel O'halloran is viewed as a squad signing and not a high profile signing - seems to be familiar in style to Shiels. - I would rather pursue the Latvian forward than O'halloran as a striker would be welcomed more at the club - There is no fault in testing the water with low starting bids when showing an interest in a, player - We should recognise that we now have a professional management team in place and I'm sure they will always act in the club's best interest -.

14 Jan 2016 14:50:30
23 games and 4 goals? Remember how many Nicky Clarke scored. Peoples records change when they move clubs. Some for the good and some for the bad.

14 Jan 2016 16:19:00
Not the best goal scoring record i agree, martyn waghorn didn't have such an amazing record either tbh, but when u come to rangers, expectations rise, and i honestly feel players try harder at this club than they have done before, o'halloran will have more chances at bursting the net at rangers believe me, and i'm pretty sure his pace will cause defenses serious problems.

14 Jan 2016 21:33:41
We are doing fine, showed against Hibs who are a decent team, that we have a far better team than last year, now yes we need to up it for the SPL, but guys chill out, all we hear from certain fans is when is DK going to start spending the cash, short memories that's where most teams fall down, let the guys get on with the building jobs they are doing and I'm sure we will be back were we belong, WATP.

14 Jan 2016 09:28:43
Can a ask fellow bears why are we biding for players with nothing more than the 100,000 200,000 mark seen there in the paper that has been the bids for ohallaron and diagourga also if we want these players why not make a wee bit more of the effort as dave king said there's money there to spend supposibly. ok don't need a lot to win champion ship but what's wrong with giving us 2 million and trying to get a few players that's on mw list thoughts please.

14 Jan 2016 11:00:43
Completely agree. These players have been identified by The Hat and therefore the money should be there to go get them. He isn't asking for multi millions. yet!
Also agree with above post re Michael O, have said before I wold rather have that Cummings boy.
Come on Dave, show us the money!

14 Jan 2016 11:05:18
However, as an afterthought, if The Hat has identified Michael O as a player that fits the essential criteria, then who am I to doubt his ability to fit and play well in our team. He hasn't been wrong yet!

14 Jan 2016 13:53:49
Wish people would stop going on about Cummings, the boy is bad news and why would we want to deal with Hibs ever again after the Allan saga. I think O'halloran could do well for us. He has been earning rave reviews for two years now + ripped us apart. Goal ratios aren't always the most important, sometimes overall play doesn't reflect your ratio. I'm also glad to see the board aren't letting themselves be held to ransom over new signings. I'll leave my judgement till the end of the window and then see if they have backed the manager. I'm hoping he has some back up plans should these two deals fall through tho, we're Defo short in numbers for the run.

14 Jan 2016 15:24:51
Sorry recbob, I'll get me coat! Think I've only mentioned him twice to be fair but hey ho that's what makes us all footy fans I guess, opinions. I would presume that The Hat shares yours re Cummings (oops sorry there I go again) otherwise he would be bidding for him.
Good point made by someone else on another post, forget O'H and use that money to pay the wages of the Latvian boy who is defo an out and out striker.

14 Jan 2016 18:23:56
Sorry pieandbovril I did not mean to offend, it's simply just they would never sell us him this window, or probably any other window to be honest.
For what it's worth I think he's a good player, but all that 'Beast' shouting at Ibrox that he was getting will follow him even more if he signed for us. Whether it's right or wrong, it's something I don't think we need to spoil the good team spirit we have at the moment.
Would also like the Latvian boy signed, watched him on YouTube, looks a real predator, Latvian league or not.

14 Jan 2016 21:06:43
Put it this way if skonto Riga were playing in spl they would be in top three? Tells you about the standard there.

14 Jan 2016 21:17:48
Here no recbob, absolutely no offence taken, just having a laugh is all.

Very thick skinned sir, so do not worry about offending me. Thanks for the apology all the same.

14 Jan 2016 23:09:13
Why is everyone saying why are we going in with low offers and not just stumping up with the value to teams want. That's what got us into this mess over spending. I love the way the board are doing things test the water with a low bid some get accepted some don't then if they don't keep testing with a slightly higher if the player wants to join us then there team will have an unhappy player and therefore more likely than not a lower bid will be accepted. Why spend 600k on ohallaron when we could get him for 300k and add ons.

14 Jan 2016 08:50:58
St johnstone want £600,000 or more for o'halloran i say we just move on and target someone else . don't think he's worth that.

14 Jan 2016 09:10:29
Maybe he is worth that. Same issue with Diagouraga. It's time we got serious about our bids and understand that there are market forces out there. We can sell Clarke and Law in this window to offset some of the outgoing transfer fees but we've got to get out of this current mindset of bidding if we want to capture the players Warurton wants.

14 Jan 2016 09:22:54
Gers have got to stop with silly bids and pay the going rate. if mw is chasing a player, put the true value bid in. silly bids just leave scope for other teams to swoop in.

14 Jan 2016 09:57:44
Kfraser
Ideally we would be able to sell Law and Clark to offset some of the outgoing but it never seems to work out like that for us. I think £600,000 is way too much for O Hallaron don't know how good the Brentford player is but wouldn't have thought £1m was too much for an experienced player playing in the championship.

14 Jan 2016 10:08:27
Yes we have to put realistic bids in for players, we all know the way the bidding for players works, ie. your first offer is always the lowest but my gripe here is that rangers are in danger of losing out on both o'halloran and diagouraga as our bids are beyond belief far too low, common mr. king, step up and play just like you promised you would, I for one don't want us to spend massive amounts of money but these offers are bordering on the ridiculous! o'halloran worth around 400/500k and diagouraga around 500/600k,1.1million quid max should secure both players, over to you dave king, show the rangers fans you mean business!

14 Jan 2016 10:37:26
O'halloran has scored 4 in 23 games not exactly prolific is he no way is he worth £600,000 st johnstone have came to that figure because that's what they would gain by finishing in top 6 if we are going to pay £600,000 i would rather we went down south and got a striker.

14 Jan 2016 11:13:26
he's worth £200k tops If that's not accepted I say we move on! I know I will attract the "prem isn't that good! "responses and I agree, BUT we still don't have the squad that was promised would challenge at the first time of asking. Sorry not being negative as I believe we are heading in the right direction but I do feel we don't have a good enough squad to challenge in the top 2-3 of the pre yet!

14 Jan 2016 20:03:36
January is an inflated market for first team players especially if they one of a clubs best. Remember they have to find a replacement so why would any club sell someone on the cheap and replace them with someone that's not as good. I think we might be better waiting till summer to bid for anyone over 500k.
