Anybody think that the lad menga from livingston would be worth a punt big strong lad bit of pace and he puts himself about and scores a few goals.

15 Dec 2018 08:30:01
I was thinking that watching the Livi game last night, beast of a lad and never stops working.

15 Dec 2018 09:26:50
I don’t think Menga is the answer by any stretch, just read his football history and mostly he played for B teams in Belgium and Portugal scoring very few, must have played for a dozen teams, scoring one goal here and there.
I’d imagine that Stevie G and his staff have already made contact with their targets, we’ll just have to be patient.

15 Dec 2018 11:14:23
Why is it someone scores a goal we should sign him, last week shankland, Stewart, this week Menga.
In the past, may, Naismith et al.
All these guys no better than what we have.

15 Dec 2018 11:57:43
It wasn't that he scored a goal, and indeed he is hardly a goal machine, it was his performance and work rate that prompted the question, a foil for Alfie.

15 Dec 2018 13:00:27
Bizzmy though we were trying to challenge them.

15 Dec 2018 14:39:54
Yes we are trying to challenge them and he was one of their best players against celtic his work rate and drive is excellent never gives in and is a burden for 90 mins which is something we don't have it's another option yeah he might not score a load of goals but he would help assist with a few and put himself about up front.

15 Dec 2018 16:10:00
So according to here, that's manga, shankland and hardie, might as well see Morelos.

14 Dec 2018 14:35:27
January window should be interesting! If we have buyers I'd sell foderingham, alnwick, Holt, pena, Herrera, and if a silly bid came in I'd sell tavernier there's probably more this would free wages and help fund replacements. Candelas works hard but not a dribbler ball needs space to run into bit like Middleton, teams park the bus in SPL so I think we need dribbler types maybe like Kent so I'd be looking at a dribbling attacker, a striker, a number 10 type a right back and maybe a left sided cb. would also think about bringing back docherty.

14 Dec 2018 15:36:02
We need a centre mid that can carry the ball from the back to the front and can play a pass and run at defenders ie a younger Steven Davis type we also need to start playing the ball faster and start passing better tavs passing last night was terrible!

14 Dec 2018 16:32:17
Bgate what would be you rather backup if mcgregor broke a leg.

14 Dec 2018 16:46:40
If I got good money for foderingham and alnwick I'd maybe sign a freebie or nominal fee gk to compete with mccrorie . see people on here say foderingham could go 1.5mil I'd bite the hand off for that sum also alnwick could raise a few bob.

14 Dec 2018 18:25:16
If Mcgregor broke a leg and Fod was the second choice I'd just ask McGregor to play anyway Jboy21. I'd consider anything around the 50-60pence mark for Fod.

14 Dec 2018 18:33:07
we have mcorie or alnwick for cover as goalkeeper. proper freshning up recquired at ibrox, ejeria, pena, holt, rossiter, worrel, herrara, agreed on tav snatch hand of for 5 million or more, tav has talent no doubt going forward but flatters to decieve. i'd even include lafferty realy not impressed with lafferty brings to gers. brutal yes, but if we could move on this lot and replace them with davis, jones, solanko, docherty, it evens out players leaving and arriving.

14 Dec 2018 18:42:36
Cool guys. But why get rid of they two then get another one in to sit on bench. Initially
Mccrorie is the future, just no experience. Maybe we should give him game time. Ie Cowdenbeath. Bring on in couple of games if three up.

14 Dec 2018 18:57:34
London jock Alnwick away for the year and came out this morning saying he has inspected his agent to do a deal to get his loan converted to a transfer.

14 Dec 2018 19:34:53
Jboy I'd get rid of the 2 only if it freed up cash with fees and wages and bring one in on a free or nominal for less wages therefore freeing up cash to help strengthen other areas.

14 Dec 2018 19:36:50
im sure there's plenty of cover for goalkeepers out there, regarding mcorie sometimes you have to be thrown in at deep end to swim. gets great reports and training with 1st team, i forgot in last post why take a punt in shankland, can't be any worse than lafferty . louis moult i forgot to mention good record in spl, why not both, with an eye on future. i'm sure morelos if he has good season will be gone.

14 Dec 2018 20:17:50
I can’t get fascination with shankland. Showed nothing against us. If taking gamble we have Rudden and Dallas’s
Also hardie although I think he has had his chance.
See how many he gets in SPFL for livi.

14 Dec 2018 20:34:11
jboy agreed on dallas, scoring for fun in reserves, nothing to lose by bringing him on as a sub. shankland is still worth a punt.

14 Dec 2018 21:32:38
London respect your opinion, shankland not for me.

14 Dec 2018 21:46:22
Hey maybe hardie has a chance.

15 Dec 2018 07:08:20
B Gate, I would agree with you if it allows us to blood young Mcrorie as no. 2 goalkeeper. He has proved himself at a good standard and will improve more under shagger.

15 Dec 2018 09:26:09
Bgate your saying sell those players but the main factor is who would want to buy them we are probably stuck with them.

15 Dec 2018 09:56:30
Deemcc22 I did state (if we have buyers) that is a big hopeful if!

15 Dec 2018 11:16:02
Millerbrand where has Robbie mccrorie proved himself at a good standard.
Never played in league one, championship or Spfl.

14 Dec 2018 11:41:16
folk are correct at saying we done well to get to the group stages of Europa league. But are people really happy at the lack of attacking intent from the team last night and over the last few games the last few games have been must wins and we have not showing enough in these games for me.
to me the players confidence just seems to have gone and the lack of a plan b by Gerard is really frustrating.
hopefully this can be addressed in January as the team needs help.
a see the young lad Dallas got another 2 goals last night again is it not bout time some of these young lads got a chance at least off the bench rather than other clubs loan players.

14 Dec 2018 12:25:04
Well said Craig, whilst we are a work in progress the last few games have been hard to watch and you can see the lack of passion and fight in the squad. However I do have faith that Stevie G and the team will change things around for the better and this could be a very interesting transfer window coming up 🇬🇧🔵⚪️🔴.

14 Dec 2018 13:12:30
I don't think we really lack passion and fight it's just a lack of quality and confidence going forward that we struggle with. Too many times players will look to play safe to the side or back rather than forward. We are also not slick enough in our passing to open things up, although the pitch last night didn't help. The disappointing thing for me is that spartak and Vienna were both there for the taking and we simply failed to do so.

14 Dec 2018 14:54:16
Boli-poly i do think some players lack passion when things go wrong some of the players shy away and don't take responsibilty they all give it to tav thinking he is superman and when things go wrong for him he gets slated on hear for it least the lad trys.
For me if davis comes back i would give him captaincy we need someone in middle park to shout at these players and lift them when things not going well.

14 Dec 2018 15:58:13
Boli you make a good point but with a bit more passion or fight about our team last night, then as Craig said Vienna were there for the taking. There was just no urgency or desire about how we played a must win game. the lack of quality, especially linking midfield to attack is a problem but it’s an issue that can be rectified this window hopefully as using the likes of Jack in a more advanced position doesn’t help as it doesn’t suit his game at all. I believe if we give it time tho we we shall get there in the end, whilst some results haven’t went our way our overall position is a lot more respectable than a lot of people thought it would be! At least now we can concentrate on the league 🔵⚪️🔴.

14 Dec 2018 16:36:13
Bluejames it's not lack of passion or fight it's simply many are not good enough.
Look at ejaria, allegedly it's too physical, the guy has not made a tackle since he arrived. This is where SG should be ruthless and let him go back to Liverpool reserves.
You know when chips are down he would not roll up sleeves and fight.

14 Dec 2018 17:14:58
jboy21 agree ejaria should go along with coulibaly both have had a fair crack in centre mid and not really showing a lot get docherty Davis and jack in centre mid this who i would go with second half of season if we can get them and rotate jack and mccorie if need be.

14 Dec 2018 17:25:12
JBoy I can’t argue with what you say, Ejaria was a prime example of exactly what you mean but the more I think about it the more it seems it’s a combination of both our points. I mean take the Aberdeen game or the Dundee game, teams technically inferior to ours but they wanted the result more than we did and ultimately it worked in their favour. earlier on this season we were drawing with Villareal away, a result we could only have hoped for when the group was drawn. yet it’s the same team/ same players we have now but there’s been a drop in quality and desire. I think a switch in captain would make a difference as Tav is no leader like a Gough or a Butcher, Shagger is by far the better option IMO but we do need that link between midfield and attack. I hear the argument for Davis coming back but I believe that’s only a short term solution. 🇬🇧.

14 Dec 2018 18:45:24
Don’t get me started on tav.
I’d go with Mccrorie and would actually leave docherty away till next year. I fear he would sit on bench too much here.

14 Dec 2018 21:39:35
We have common ground there Jboy, Tav’s deliveries into the box have been a nightmare, he seldom beats the first man regardless of whether it’s a cross, corner and increasingly from his free kicks too. Gerrard is far more qualified than I am to judge a player but I fail to see what he brings as team captain and his defending is terrible, sometimes it’s just as well we have Candeias in front of him as he provides some good cover when Tav inevitabley gets caught upfield! I do believe McCrorie should get a run in the team as well. out of interest tho who would you take to partner Arfield in the centre mid with either Jack to MCCrorie as the holding midfielder? 🇬🇧.

15 Dec 2018 10:40:28
Jamesey

I got pelters last season when I posted that Tav's decent cross ratio was poor -from set pieces and open play - at that time he was overhitting rather than under hitting. The ratio is still not good.

I have gone from thinking he was a good buy to thinking we will not get much for him; leadership, defending and getting into decent positions to effect.

I think he typifies our current situation and we need to move for effective players.

15 Dec 2018 16:27:10
DEEB I couldn’t agree more, whilst he does have the occasional good game in general he has not been the right back we need and he certainly hasn’t been the captain we need either. A full backs job is to defend first and foremost and reckon Flanagan would probably be better choice as a right back, a captains job isn’t to organise the team, rally the troops and Take control on the park, especially when oot Alfie starts throwing a wobbly but that simply isn’t happening. As for Tav switch him to midfield or sell him and use the money for a full back as cover for Flanagan and maybe that attacking midfielder we so desperately need 🇬🇧 In Stevie we trust 🔵⚪️🔴.

14 Dec 2018 10:01:55
Ejaria gone as he can't hack it, so what's the chances of him making the top? You could tell in the last 3 months he didn't want to be with us and is no where good enough.
Maybe Coulibaly should be next out the door? 🇬🇧.

14 Dec 2018 13:16:09
If it's true that he doesn't fancy the league and wants to go back it says all that needs to be said about him. If you only want to play where and when it suits you you'll never make it a decent level. Scottish football is ugly and tough but great/ good players will accept the challenge and work to improve themselves. Others just don't have the fight and it seems ejaria is one of them.

14 Dec 2018 13:23:40
I would prefer Ejaria to go forthwith, if he can’t give his all for a team like Rangers he’s not worth having about. If he thinks he’s going to play for Liverpool he’s in never never land. He was very hot and cold in his time at Ibrox, he should realise it’s a privilege to play for Rangers, people would give their eye teeth for the chance he’s getting.

14 Dec 2018 09:17:46
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Gerrard and the team for giving us some pride back in Europe after last season's debacle.
Now it's time to focus on the league and kick on.
In Gerrard We Trust! Let's Go! #55.

14 Dec 2018 10:32:41
Agreed uj. At the start of the season we didn't even expect to get into the group so what we achieved was a bonus. We've done ourselves proud. Need to push on domestically now! #.

14 Dec 2018 15:33:23
Well said union jack!

14 Dec 2018 16:37:08
We are going in right direction.

14 Dec 2018 17:18:30
Getting there lads, good posts uj. Wish everyone on here would just level it a bit. We lose people get all hysterical and want rid of players snd managers, we win a couple it's all going 55 blah blah. We're moving in right direction anybody who thought it was an overnight job needs there head examined.

14 Dec 2018 08:41:47
Ed. Could you consider running a poll, the question being:

Honestly, at the start of this season, would you have expected Rangers to reach the group stages of the Europa League?

Yes or No

Cheers.

{Ed033's Note -

Rangers Europa League Poll

14 Dec 2018 10:29:48
Honestly, what is the point of this poll?

14 Dec 2018 13:59:49
I think the point he is trying to make is nobody in their right mind expected us to go on the run we did in Europe but after failing last night and only losing 2 games (away from home btw) we have all of the usual morons screaming for peoples heads, making certain players scapegoats and basically just doing what they always do when things don’t go their way.

14 Dec 2018 05:34:46
Here's a question. If worrall, coulibaly, ejaria and kent, all went back to their parent clubs in january, who would be the 4 players that you'd want gerrard to sign, to replace them? Being realistic at the same time.

14 Dec 2018 08:46:43
Good post Coop,

Hard to think of players like for like. No doubt everyone will have different opinions.

Worrell, the big Greek lad
Coulibally, Davis
Ejaria, Docherty
Kent, Shankland

I’ve been particularly vocal in saying Davis is not the answer, however I can understand why we would take him.
Get those 4 and a quality number 10 ( someone of the Rogic mould)

14 Dec 2018 08:50:27
Supercooper, tough to answer the one quality you need is the one that's hard to see " can you bear the weight of the jersey? " It's tough to take you loanees who aren't in first team squads not playing regular then expect then to perform in front of 50,000.

I'd like a few experienced guys in the team guys that won't be fazed by it, steven Davis great example guys like that
I'm not sure the younger loanees is way to go however I do know we need to cut our cloth to fit
Here's looking forward to rest of season.

14 Dec 2018 09:13:14
Was surprised that Docherty was allowed to leave on loan as he is the type of player who given a run of games in league would do well. Sort of player we need in and old firm game. Although I think Davis is maybe too old I would bring him in as he is better than what we have. The number 10 is the big problem though. Celtic have far more money than us and they don’t have one. Will need a bit of luck to get one for the money we have to offer.

14 Dec 2018 11:31:48
Worrall - I have no idea
Coulibaly - Kamara
Ejaria - Davis
Kent - I would fight to keep but if not Jordan Jones.

14 Dec 2018 23:47:41
I’m not understanding the desire to bin Ryan Kent here, easily one of our best performers and we look much more dangerous with him in the 11.

15 Dec 2018 05:30:28
Digger, your poll is biased and pointless. Is any true blue going to refute?

14 Dec 2018 05:13:58
I'm extremely proud of our team tonight, even though we didn't go through it's been an unbelievable run compared to when we played Progres last season. I think the fact we done so well at the start of the group has made some fans expectations too high.
Here's hoping we get a couple of creative options in midfield and attack in the January window and push on.

I do believe Stevie G is the man for the job because he is a born winner and that's what we need. I just hope that we get a settled back four and rotate less. I'd like to see Goldson and Katic partnership again as I believe it was our strongest until we started chopping and changing then Katic lost all confidence. Get him back in and let him develop. Worrall isn't ours and hasn't impressed. McAualey can be used here and there as cover but Katic will not go up in value by sitting in the stands.
