It’s funny that the word “ assist” is now included even in the score at the end of the game on motd nowadays,
I find it ridiculous really, never had that for a hundred years, now it’s even on here,
If a guy runs 50 yards, dribbling past 6 players, then gives it to a guy wh touches it on to the scorer, the second guy now gets an “ assist” laughable, they all assist, it seemed to creep into the game unnoticed, never heard of it before, now players have it in their details, what next.

👏👏👏I 1 million percent agree with you Tomthumb12. That may surprise most of you on here considering how much I bang on about Hagi and his assists.

Tomthumb12 your post almost exactly resembles a post I made last year when assists became a very popular topic on here when discussing Ryan Kent on here. Some were saying "he hasn't scored enough and has only had 1 assist". At the time I posted saying that the stats didn't matter and asked how many times had Kent skinned 3 players and cut inside then played the ball out wide for Barasic to cross in and get the assist. I was shot down in flames man. So I decided this year to focus on the stats as that was what everyone was going on. So this season so far Tav has been our best player in an attacking sense closely followed by Hagi based on how many goals they have both been involved in.

For the record I do think Hagi is a smashing player but my point is that its amazing how stats seem to matter when it suits.

SPFL pushing for league to sign that league can get called halfway through season. That's 9 league games away, with CV getting worse this means Saturday's game is a must not lose game imo.

I didn’t mean it would be cancelled because Celtic has 4 players out, Rangers have at least 4 players out, some people jumped on as per and said things like sturgeon said this or lemon said that

Agree with that bankie, perhaps could've. signed him And loaned him out to premiership club, ie hibs. Think he only cost £250grand. I'd heard his name but hadn't seen him. Think scouts have missed 1 there.

You need to play in other European leagues to be signed by this management team. Some of our best signings were signed from other Scottish clubs who understood the game and hit the ground running. I. E. Boyd, novo, Aluko, Thomson, McCann, list goes on, to say Dykes wouldn't have been good enough is nonsense.

Didn’t watch enough of dykes to be fair, only against Rangers, I don’t watch they’re games unless they’re 2 down with a minute to go, but he’s certainly hit the ground running, don’t think he would be as good as a Boyd and never close to hateley so unless sg is changing the way Rangers play then he probably got the best move he could have wanted, because he scores a goal for Scotland doesn’t mean he would be successful at Rangers, then again it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be either,

Think its touch and go for Saturday fergie so if he misses it I'd assume he'll be fit for following week. I think it was an ankle knock although I could be wrong that may have been borna.

All this talk of Celtic not being at their strongest really is a bit misleading and is just playing into their hands. When you actually look at it who will they be missing from their strongest 11? Edouard will be playing, his isolation will be up by Saturday, the two Israelis wouldn’t normally make the starting 11, their back 3 will be Duffy, Julien and Ajer. Ok they are missing Christie but either Turnbull or Elyounoussi will play in his position. Forrest is out but he’s not been playing well and has been in and out the team anyway. So really Christie is their only big miss.
We will be without Aribo and Roofe still (probably) along with Katic and have doubts about Barisic and Helander. Plus Morelos will have only just come off a 11 hour flight having possibly played on the Thursday night. Yet all we are hearing about in the papers is how ‘weakened’ they will be. It’s almost a ‘no win situation’ being created for us. Win and it’ll be ‘yes but look at everything that was against Celtic’. Don’t win and it’ll be ‘Rangers can’t even beat a half depleted Celtic team! ’.

Good post gers1978, it's always the same there now already blaming the ref, and C.V. for a game that hasn't mustered a result yet, French eddys been worse than freddo so far this season, the 2 Israelis aren't first picks, christie not scored against us in a tim shirt (by tims own logic that makes him pish like morelos? ) Think we all know eddy will be in there squad, like you say morelos has as much time to be ready for game as him, we have Katic, roofe, Aribo missing and possibly Helander and barasic, so yes we could be without 3 guaranteed starters, so what's there problem the only 2 that might off stsrted would be elhamed and christe as the wee speedy rb they have is murder in defence. And French eddy isn't ruled out, there just making themselves look scared, I'm not falling for the mind games there playing there trying to make it out that anything less than a win is embarrassing for us, when the facts are we should be highlighting our own injury plight to heap pressure on them. Time to flip the table.

I hope French Eddy does start he’s been mince so far this season and without proper training he’ll be well off the pace I’d be more worried about Griffiths but your spot on it’s been made out that they are at a disadvantage when none of our international players are back yet so nobody has a clue, every one of them could miss the game for one reason or another, let’s just hope all our guys get back safe and well, and we’ll be ready for whatever they have to throw at us 💪🏼.

We also all know about many many previous games were one side or the other has been seriously depleted or hindered in some way, either poor form, or in they’re case, no fans, , anything can happen, but no crowds make it a real match up.

Perhaps Rangers can show dignity and class by offering to Celtic to cancel Saturday's game in view of their plight with players self-isolating at this time. Such a gesture would be gracious but would also leave them with no place to go in terms of any action or comments they might make. I wouldn't have a problem with that because a win on Saturday might be construed as a hollow victory, a bit like most of Celtic's league titles over the last few years!

And honestly I do see your point, I want then to field as strong a team as possible so there are no excuses, but all I've seen on Facebook etc is that the fan base doesn't really mind having players out as they're "still going to destroy us" but that's only the mentality until the first goal goes in, then it'll be the game should have been cancelled.

Bitton and elhamed aren't automatic starters, if we're without barasic and helander I'd say that's harder on us. They've lost Christie we've not got aribo. Similar problem. if edourds isolation is up on Friday then its up to them if they want to play him, I doubt Alfredo will be back til Friday anyway for us. And that have Forrest out with an ankle problem. That's kind of equal in terms of selection problems. They're always telling us how they are a superior squad so let's see it.
