ED, as we're all aware now, our new manager pedro caixinha has stated he wants to appoint what he calls, a local coach, to help him bed in at rangers and the culture in this country! Its a very good idea and IMO it was the major reason PLG failed as rangers manager, by his refusal to appoint someone of a rangers understanding! So ED, could you please set up a poll on here for our fans to vote, on who they would like to assist pedro? Some of the names being banded about are, barry ferguson, graeme murty, alex rae, lee mcculloch, neil mccann, steven pressley etc!

Pedro Assistant Poll

13 Mar 2017 21:52:38
maybe it's just me but what extensive coaching/ managing experience does barry ferguson or lee mculloch have?

being an ex player/ bluenose / rangers man won't do pedro much good when he wants to know in depth analysis on the systems hearts play or the formations dundee are likely to set up with at home - from
a coaching perspective wee barry wouldn't have a clue - we need to get over this passionate ex player rangers die hard being a good coach as it's just nonsense - i give you john greig

Id go for an experienced man like peter houston - just my opinion

14 Mar 2017 09:43:13
I can't believe people are voting for Ferguson.

14 Mar 2017 10:49:51
Terry Butcher is the man

14 Mar 2017 11:10:48
Murty for me

14 Mar 2017 11:33:27
Murty for me also.

14 Mar 2017 11:43:56
having read this site quite often, some of the guys who post here could do the job nae bother, or so they would like to think

14 Mar 2017 12:48:12
Murty's back to his original role with U20's, and I believe it's not an assistant manager position it's a "club assistant" I think Pedro called it. Don't think we need someone with great experience because it's not a huge role, just need someone who knows Rangers, knows the league, and will bridge a gap between the current staff and Rangers' culture and history.

14 Mar 2017 13:06:56
Kenny Miller for me and he could still play next season also.

15 Mar 2017 09:51:52
Ted jons, big Terry would be a great shout, so would Stuart McCall (but I think he might be managing Bradford) . Both have managed in this league fairly recently. I would also be happy with Alex Rae.

15 Mar 2017 13:45:12
Alex Rae ticks every box for me

15 Mar 2017 23:49:53
Got to be Kenny Miller

15 Mar 2017 23:37:49
people are asking what extensive experience has barry got . let's be clear what pedro is looking for ; he is looking for sum1 with knowladge of the game in scotland with rangers a heart to help him get used to the game up here and to get his points and stratagy across to the team.

no one is looking for barry to be the next manager or head coach but an assistant and as far as i can tell that's where most people start our their managerial careers

15 Mar 2017 23:59:24
Terry Butcher can't even tell Chris Mutton to be quiet when talking rubbish. I don't want him near our team.

15 Mar 2017 23:04:32
Barry Ferguson has managed blackpool and clyde, played at the top, knows the league and the club and would be an asset.

My choice would be lee mcculloch.

16 Mar 2017 14:03:15
i like the idea of miller as well but also like the idea or ferguson although with miller still wanting to play he would probably want a club assistant / player role aqnd could be a great supersub next year or lennon will get him for his boyhood team hibs

13 Mar 2017 18:30:10
Listening to Pedro, why did he say he has the best squad in Scotland? I'm a very positive person who obviously want Rangers to do well but I really have no time for liars. Be honest with the fans and that includes you Dave King, wherever you are!

13 Mar 2017 18:48:37
If you listen to full statement he wants them to be the best in scotland
so don't think he's a liar he only want the best welcome pedro

13 Mar 2017 20:02:48
He feels there the best and he wants to give them the confidence for them to believe that also

13 Mar 2017 19:42:25
Keevin having kittens on Clyde. Heard him mention the squad thing about a dozen times! Good for you Pedro. Nothing wrong with being positive. I like to hear this from a coach. Nothing wrong with trying to rile them. Had it right up to my neck with the other side's nonsense. Everybody knows Keevins hangs out of Mr fake tan's bahookie! Give them something to think about ahead of the cup game. The phone in will go into meltdown

13 Mar 2017 21:00:12
To build confidence that's why. we know we're not as good as Selik but he's trying from the off to get into the players' heads which isn't a crime.

13 Mar 2017 20:45:20
Gor, It's not so difficult to read the whole story instead of just the first three words then make up the rest.

Give it a try, think sunshine, think happy, think positive.

14 Mar 2017 11:53:17
Seeker your right about Keevins he was spewing. I think he's got a wee crush on Brenda .

14 Mar 2017 13:39:04
Keevins and Brenda up a tree! K. I. S. S. I. N. G!

15 Mar 2017 23:40:49
in the interview he states why he said that he stated he has the best squad in the country as if he doesn't believe in his players his players won't believe in him. man every single little thing said is being scrutinised already and he hasn't had time to even meet most of the players one to one yet.

if we get anything less thn a draw on saturday i can see the same fans on here saying he needs to go as we are the most impatient bunch ever.

15 Mar 2017 23:30:59
I think it's an insult to the supporters, all of you who go to all games home and away getting told that, and if you believe that, you should not be allowed to be on your own.
This is a cheap appointment and the guy was giving a scripted press conference, which is obvious to anyone with a tiny bit of sense

13 Mar 2017 17:40:35
I enjoyed Pedro's presser and the way he carried himself. I point he made about about a single philosophy gave me flashbacks of Warbs but he went on to say that it will change through out a game. Looking forward to Hamilton, let's get behind this guy!

13 Mar 2017 16:22:55
I really think we need to strengthen every area of the park for next season. I can't think of a single player who I could say without doubt will or should be a first team regular next year. Great result yesterday but we need to be honest with ourselves. We are still a good bit behind Celtic man for man 🔴⚪🔵.

13 Mar 2017 16:39:50
Remember we've rossiter and niko to come back in if they manage to get upto speed with no lasting issues then they will have a big season for us! Also matt crooks has a chance to come in and fight for a place! i'd be happy to lose senderos keirnan halliday ohalleran possibly tav! We must bring in a solid RB 2 CBs a midfield anchor and a goalscorer! Fingers crossed we see mckay windass and a few others kicking on under pedro and putting in perfomances they are capable of

13 Mar 2017 17:26:52
Agree with much of what you have said mate. Although, much as I hate to say it I think Kranjcar is done. We did see flashes of a great player but I can't see him having a big impact next year. Rossiter I really like. If he can stay fit and progress then there is no doubt he could be a huge player for us. 🔴⚪🔵

13 Mar 2017 19:46:00
Got to play hodson at right back in every game.

13 Mar 2017 19:48:14
Good point Nic. With Rossiter and Kranjcar in midfield and if we can sign Hyndman that looks strong. We haven't seen what Crooks or Windass can do due to injuries. I thought Hodson did well at right back and we have young Bates as one centre back. We need to replace Kenny Miller and Clint Hill due to their ages.

13 Mar 2017 20:48:13
I think you'll see a much improved performance from all players in the coming weeks.

Very few if them are bad players but they have been asked to perform in roles that they were not suitable for.

It appears that PC will take a more pragmatic approach to get the best out of what we have rather than putting square pegs in round holes.

4 new signings in the summer will be fine if they are targeted where we need them most

13 Mar 2017 21:19:24
Got to agree about Krankjar. His career was winding down and I don't think he can come back from that type of injury. Most young guys are never the same player after them.

15 Mar 2017 23:53:31
people are just being idiots now to say we haven't got a single player seriously get a grip we have good quality in our team. i think with the right tactics that we could see a lot of our players flourish like the way branda has brought out the best in what was there forrest, armstrong, bitton, brown. all those players where worse than ours last year but sumhow are much better this year so don't get carries away 4-5 signings of qulity will turn the rest of them into better players

13 Mar 2017 09:00:47
That's better lads. Bit of desire at last, that's all we ask as fans is to try. I thought Lee Hodson had a great game and was certainly a difference defensively. Hill was brilliant. We kept shape well, just listened to Pedro caixinho interview and he speaks well. He has his own backroom team but he stated he is looking for a local Rangers man to be a club assistant to have that link.

13 Mar 2017 10:15:08
I've never thought there was a lack of trying but I agree there was more more bite and desire. Not trying to play like Barcelona and playing out from our own box and the lack of midfield back passing was refreshing. No Halliday. I think Hyndman brings a bit of class to the team and it was good to see Holt playing his heart out.

13 Mar 2017 16:24:01
Beyond ecstatic to see the lads play with such commitment, passion, determination and skill. Celtic seemed to think they could just turn up and score 8.Rogers will be reading them the riot act today (hopefully)
Was disgusted with McKays lack of commitment- didn't fancy it at all - pulling out of 50/ 50 70/ 30 tackles. didn't even break sweat. absolutely shocking
. Murty deserves a standing ovation at Hamilton game. true Rangers man!

13 Mar 2017 19:45:55
felt sorry for holt as he was trying his hardest the whole game and a stupid mistake from him cost us the goal but hey if it asnt him it would have been sum1 else.
rangers for me are still miles behind celtic but hopefully we can change that next season .

15 Mar 2017 23:55:51
mckay was marked out the game which created space for the likes of waggy and miller to run through but i agree he wasnt on the ball

13 Mar 2017 08:30:47
I do like lee wallace, he is a very good captain off the park but am afraid not on it and I hope pedro sees this. Yesterday I watched kenny bark orders at the team telling them where to move to stirring them up. He needs to be captain as the players seem to listen to him with hill as vice.

13 Mar 2017 08:18:54
See Sutton at it again new manager shouldn't be fouled be rangers battling performance yesterday saying celtic should have won anyway relying on a questable penalty claim games of football are full of what if this what if that's, what if waghorn had scored his two clear cut chances it would have been 2-3 who's to say they would have scored their penalty if they they got it anyway.

13 Mar 2017 10:50:52
It's Sutton, we could have won 4-0 and he still would have said Celtic deserved the win

13 Mar 2017 11:27:18
Some of our own pundits pander to them as well. Big dj and dalziel predicted 3-0 for Celtic. Andy little went for 1-1 so well done to him.

13 Mar 2017 16:33:36
Just because the pundits played for rangers doesn't mean they have to say they are going win. Speaking the truth is better.

13 Mar 2017 19:46:09
Big DJ has joined the dark side on Clyde. Surrounded by them.

13 Mar 2017 21:04:08
I loved the guy on SSB tonite (Aiden fi port glasgow) who rattled on about miller, waghorn, hill and holt should all have seen red then when big DJ asked the dhim about Broons blatant elbow on Holt he said, "i didn't see that 1" 😂😂

15 Mar 2017 23:59:23
their manager said their players ned protection and now all the fans say is they should have beensent off all the time when its barely even a foul
