Fellow bears I'm new to this board but felt the need to post based on some of the responses levelled at Ally and the team. Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, I cannot for the life of me understand the level of criticism dished out to Ally McCoist. I've read on here about guys wanting Derek McInnes or Billy Davies as Rangers manager and the fact the quality of football we playing in league one is horrendous! I think we all know it's not great viewing however, Ally McCoist has had practically both hands tied behind his back since he got the Rangers Job. Yes we have the second highest wage bill in Scotland but for me too many gers fans are stuck in the past in terms of previous teams and players we've had. I agree with Ally with what he was saying in the newspapers about not having a Laudrup or Gascoigne. Those days are gone along with the Souness, Smith and Advocaat days. For me, Jose Mourinho could get the Rangers job and some fans would still be shouting for his head because we couldn't beat Albion Rovers for example. Look at the facts, we have won back to back titles which was the main objective, we are unbeaten in the league this season, yet some people are still shouting for McCoists head. I've no doubt we will get back to the top of Scottish football but we need to give Ally a break in my opinion. Someone posted here that he is in danger of losing his legendary status. total nonsense, can't believe anyone who was brought up in the Ally McCoist days would even say this!. The same could be said about John Greig? Get a grip guys and get back into the real world. Ed, you make valid points mate and I agree with your comments but a lot of other fans need a reality check. As I say everyone is entitled to their opinions but I just don't get it with a lot of fellow bears comments. We will get their slowly but surely but we need to walk before we can run. I'm sure Ally knows the quality of football is not good enough but I'm convinced a few of the guys in the current squad will be moved on once we're back in the premier league. That's not say they haven't done a great job getting us back up the leagues, it's just a fact some are not good enough for when we get back to the top.

Very admirable loyalty m8. And well written too. I hate accusing ally but the truth must out. He doesn't know any other way than punts into daly. jig. or moshni. he took the c/f off against rovers and replaced him with faure? Then got very lucky. And for info I was there when greigy was gaffer. and believe me his reputation came very close to destruction. with the lowest crowds in our history. So while h admire ure post I think he must step aside

As you state everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion. However, what seems to be the majority of the fan base is now in agreement that Ally McCoist and his coaching team do not have it to man manage players (SPFL standard) or strategise in games. If we are a goal down it's the same old long ball dross that belongs to a bygone era of football. I feel that you are yet another poster that cannot separate Ally the legend and Ally the manager.

Yes we do have the second highest wage bill in Scotland. The team is also full of players that Ally sourced through bosman signings. No one else recommended these players to him. there is no scouting network.

No one in their right mind is comparing this Rangers team to ones of the fast but the facts do not lie. We have won the league but take a step back and look at the opposition. They are part time players. I can open my back door which looks onto football fields to watch the same level of football player that we are against on a weekly basis.

The point I make is. this is Ally's team, not one which has been thrust upon him. The players have became lackadaisical under his stewardship. So what does that come down to? Managerial nous, ability, strategy, man management and all with no threat of the sack due to the clubs financial position.

I wish it were different but it is not.

I with a little coaching experience would have won the league, Mccoist's hands where not tied when we got put out of europe by 2 pub teams, get him out now, he is rank rotten as a manager, what sticks in my throat more than anything about him is on the evening times telling fans he was buying shares as a fan and not as the rangers manager and he encoured the fans to do likewise.

no one is stuck in the past m8 what people are fed up with is Allys lack of tactical awareness and his inability to bring the best out in a player not to mention his reluctance to play our youth. you mention back to back titles when you look at what Ally has at his disposal what do you expect. I have no football managerial experience whatsoever but I would feel confident of delivering back to back titles if I had Allys wage bill to pay players with.

Ally has managed to take some decent players like Sheils Law black Daly Foster Temps etc and turn them into mediocre players

no matter how you try and dress it up Ally does not have what it takes to be manager of Rangers, he has done nothing in the past or present to make me think he ever will have what it takes.

if Ally left I would like to see someone like Stuart McCall given the chance someone who is not afraid to play youth alongside some good journeymen, someone who will coach his players on how to keep the ball on the ground and try and play some attractive football. someone who wouldn't want £800000 plus bonuses for winning the fourth tier of scottish football and £400000 plus bonuses for the third tier.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you on that one. Every Rangers manager will have his critics, and Ally has a lot. The football hasn't been great but we have got the job done.
His legendary status has significantly increased in my view due to his loyalty to the club through these tough times.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cbeattie

are you for real man " His legendary status has significantly increased" well that's your opinion and you are entitled to it but I think most Rangers fans would disagree. in my opinion his legendary status is slowly disappearing down the drain.

All this nonsense about loyalty Ally didn't do walking away for three reasons

1)£800000 plus per year
2)£1 Million in shares
3) HE HAD NOWHERE TO GO

you got one thing right m8 you say the club is going through tough times, in my opinion taking £800k per year and paying over inflated wages to very average players is just compounding our problems not alleviating them or increasing your legendary status

OP and 5 sometimes posts on here completely gas my flabber and IMO the advert should have gone to spec savers may apply to you two. Hey but its all about opinions my opinion is we had a wonderful opportunity to reinvent our club as one which had learned from its fatal financial imprudence and came back with a young and exciting attacking football team envisaged by Bill Struth when he talked about the ever increasing numbers of people who would come to Ibrox to marvel at the football product.
This legends dream has not been followed by a wee rotund chap from Scotland's largest new town who is so out his depth it is truly scary.
In fact the opposite is happening as those of us with 50 / 50 vision despair at the product being produced by the overpaid mercenaries on the pitch and in the dug-out.

Agree0 Disagree0

5, what? lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the OP isn't aware but for the past 2 seasons we have been up against part time players. Now there is a reason they are part time. If you think he has had his hands tied behind this back then what about the Albion Rovers manager or the Clyde manager. They haven't exactly been able to splash the cash nor do they get a salary like Ally's. You can defend him all you want but the truth is he isn't up to the job and will be found out either in the championship or the premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spiv - did one of your pub teams not beat hibs 0-7 at easter road?

and

was your other pub team not still in Europe this season long after all the Scottish teams were ko, d and only put out narrowly by sevilla 4-3? good going for pub teams!

@jg. very good reply m8. Just for the record.
However to op and 5. Total nonsense. If Anyone in the football world had taken the Rangers job with Allys resources and not won easily. and I include managers of junior teams. And not won leagues 3 and 2. Then we would have slaughtered them. He cudnt possibly fail. And I mean cudnt possibly fail. But along the way he has managed to take us to terrible depths and woeful football. And gave guys like "wee blackie " contracts they never dreamed of. And he was chucking it! U cudnt make it up

On reflection lads, maybe I was a bit defensive in my post yesterday regarding Ally and I hold my hands up that I was maybe blinkered in defending Ally the player and Ally the manager. I still find it hard to accept what has happened to the Gers and dropping down divisions etc so the sooner we sort out the mess the better. WATP

Agree0 Disagree0

Barcelona described WSs tactics as "anti football" and rightly so, it was pish, but McCoist has taken that concept to new depths, you say the fans would moan at Mourinho, maybe, but McCoist would DEFINITELY make Messi look a bad player! He has a "don't lose" mentality which is why even with the squad he has Rangers get numbers behind the ball and very rarely dominate games even at this level. IMO McCoist deserves all the criticism he gets for his "tactics" alone.

well done the players and everyone connected to the club. would be nice to see ally use the remaining league games now to bring in the young players, and the players on the fringes to see what we have got at the club, and give us some idea what we need and don't need for next season. would happily give up unbeaton run for this cause, as next season is going to be our biggest test so far!, boyblue.

Ally time to give kids their chance now that league is in the bag. if not why not?

Because they are not good enough. if they were i'm sure we would have seen them bled in long before now

I daresay Ally will come up with some excuse not to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope the coaching team are not holding some young guys back for the sake of keeping the under 20 team together

we know the Under 20s are having a good season and are in with a good chance of winning their league and the youth cup but surely the first priority must be getting the best of the youngsters into the first team from now to the end of the season, to see what they have got,

Well written - even well argued -have to say I didn't think you would post on this site Ally!
If it's not you Ally - or Jack Irvine on your behalf - I have to say this is total drivel and not really worth further comment.

Agree0 Disagree0

The coaching team only know they are football players because they wear strips knowing how good they are is the next level that has not been achieved yet watching robertson 4 times last year then letting dundee utd get him while we got stevie smith says it all

If you look at the team over the season, the main problem for me has been sticking with Ian Black. Since he regained his place in the starting line up, he has sapped all of the creativity and direct play out of the team. He slows the play down far too much and always seems to pick the wrong pass. We will never beat teams who are happy to sit back and defend by slowing the play down even more than them. We need to get forward, get in their faces and open them up, he does not seem to have that ability. We have lots of cover for center mid, lots of younger, cheaper options. We really should start looking at them. Not only has Black had roughly one decent game since he signed, but he also appears to suck the creativity from the players around him. Law especially has looked below par since Black has came back into the side. there's no point even arguing about his vast amounts of stupid yellow cards, as it really is undefendable!
He started to lose all credibility with his constant whinges about players tackling him too hard and teams being too rough with us last season. Does he not remember what he did to Jelavic a couple of years ago?
In my opinion, his rant at the fans after the Albion game was totally out of order and not in fitting with a player who actually gives one toss about being here.
I for one have not forgotten his disgusting actions earlier in the season when we found out he had not only been betting illegally, but he had the audacity and lack of character to bet against Rangers in a game he was actually playing in!
This is not the type of player we want at our club!
The fans have no faith in him and we want him out!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem is not ian black or any other player its the way the team is set up to play if as u say black is the reason the team is not performing that's down to manager also team selection tactics are all down ally any reason that teams performace is not good all lands at allys door does not matter what we think of this player or that player its allys prob as he says himself he only wants to talk about football or his perception of football which I am sure a lot of bears don't agree with his take on football

Agree0 Disagree0

If a junior coach could win the league with our current squad, then what is the point in shelling out whatever it costs to replace the current coaching squad? That makes no sense, especially when we are skint. We've got to stick with Ally until he gets us back into the SPL, and then we can consider if the coaching squad is optimal. BTW, 1. ) - he took off Daly against Albion Rovers, who had been mince all game, moved Mohsni up front and he scored. It wasn't pretty, but it worked, and that's the sort of decisions managers need to take at times, since we didn't look like scoring any other way

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Dunc, before looking at other replies, and I agree with the main post.

Now i'll read the others,

Agree0 Disagree0

Who would bet against the team they were playing for eh?

That lost Black for me, as in playing for us.
Even when I see him score it still pains me to know what he did was against our love for our football club and team.
I wouldn't miss him, not as much as he'd miss a barn door from 6 yards.

My Opinion Only.

N2 I don't get your post surely if joe blogs could win us leagues for nowt it would be better to employ joe blogs

Well lads that's stage 2 of our comeback complete. Must say it feels good to know we're over the half way Mark, really looking forward to seeing us compete against full time teams, should see the play open up a bit more than we've been used to over the past few years, even though there's a big question mark over how we will perform in the championship, all we can do is keep the faith and dream of a brighter future. So well done big jig on your hat-trick tonight, still got it son, and well done to the team for getting us over the line.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We beat airdrie 3-0 won league still not convincing neede 2 penalties

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the players will look better next season, my thinking is that they will raise themselves against stronger opposition and not take a win for granted (imo that's what has happened lately) and there will be less "vigorous" tackles going in so they can have more time to play. As it stands though onwards and upwards still unbeaten and hopefully some of the youngsters will get a game now the league is wrapped up.

Agree0 Disagree0

We did not "need" two penalties. Both were rightly awarded in the first 20minutes. Not like last week where the penalty was the last kick of the ball
