Great team performance and result for Italy tonight, which highlights the need for a solid defence to control the game, which was won with some good through balls and running into space, against Belgiums better players.

In Spain's game, they completely dominated possession with their short passing but they struggled to score and had to rely on a tall striker to head the winning goal. I hope MW was watching as I still feel that we need more tactical flexibility.

Yeah your right JayC, but it doesn't change the point I was making that it was a header scored by a tall player from the best team that plays in the way that MW wants us to play - we don't do headers and we don't have tall players :-) )

We are neither Spain not Italy, don't see the point in any comparisons to be honest. Just let our team concentrate on our own game which worked pretty well.
I agree that the defence needs worked on, but I think we will see the same tactics deployed this year but with better personnel. In saying that we will concede more than what we're used to in the SPFL due to our attacking style but the alternative is the boring 4-5-1, which I for one am happy we have ditched and hopefully for good. Give me a high scoring Rangers win any day over that drivel we were used to.

Aye, I'd be happy with the 4-3-3, but with a much better defence, (and a good centre mid in Barton) which looks like happening.

got to agree we need a much stronger defence in this league than last years i'd like to see two really good no nonsense cb's come inand use the two we have for back up and we need back up for wb's aswell.

but all that being said i'd never change the tactics or style of play even against far better teams than ours in Europe as i'd rather get put out having a right go at it than defending all the time and still getting put out!

My bet on euros was tenner on France 3/ 1 and same on Italy at 18/ 1. Very impressed by Italy as they are a proper team based on a solid defence.

Not impressed by boring Germans and Spain are a cure for insomnia.

Would love to see us do a bit of business in South America I know it shouldn't really matter where as long as the player is good enough and can better the team and it's always good to see young Scottish talent emerge but I would be excited to see a young attacking winger from Argentina or the likes arrive at Ibrox. again I know I'll probably get slated for having my head in the clouds but again would love to bring someone in who'd been developed in that style, I know there's a lot of risks with these types of players and I don't even know if we have anyone scouting in that part of the world. Thought the young lad we had on loan from Spain who'd gone through Barca's academy sounded good but anyways just a pipe dream but would def be exciting and would love to see it happen. giv a call to whoever spotted wee Rino! Back to reality Bears just thought I'd share that one wit ya's ;)

Reading through some of the premiership released players, surely Adrian Marriapa must be a better shout than Taylor! Marriappa was a fantastic player with Watford before palace and has a fair bit of pace which Taylor doesn't, would imagine the wages required for both would be pretty similar too.

Warburton clearly has links with Wigan after signing Kiernan, Tav and Waghorn from them last summer so would you not think that maybe he could persuade will grigg or someone equally as good in Wigan to join us?

He's 6/ 4 to go to Celtic but don't see that happening so that's why I thought trying to get someone like him for Rangers would be just what we need.

Does anybody know what's happening with joey barton starting with us? I see he is at the euros for talk sport and I see he so say starts with us on the 1st July so does that mean he will miss are training camp of the U. S. and catch up with the squad when they get back on the 8th? or will he just leave France early and come to us to start training end of June?

people can say what the want about my comments but i wish Barton would've keep quiet about the comments he's made, he's now going to be well and truly targeted from EVERY team, even more so now, Just do all your talking on the park. It kind of shows, he'll do or say what he feels and hasn't shown respect to Warburton and Weir and Rangers FC.

all he said was Brown isn't in his league? which is true. Barton had the chance to play in the Premier League this season, Brown has a chance to rob more wages from Celtic. Brown has been past it for 2-3 years now. Barton can still play, and at a decent level.

To onlyshowaround, doesn't matter if you think/ know you're better than someone else, you shouldn't make comments like that, Barton NEEDS to prove it on the pitch first, then people can make judgement. I'm glad we signed Barton but he can't spout off all the time, he was a target before but he's now a bigger target, not just from every player but from the media.

He doesn't need to prove anything. He is English Premier League quality. Brown is robbing a wage. massive difference. He knows he is better. He has also added a bit of fuel to the fire. Which is a good thing.

Time for Warbs to have a word with Barton. As someone who has strong views on being respectful I doubt Warbs will think highly of Barton's comments even though he is obviously a better player then Brown.

Stuz, Did I say that at all? I meant he didn't need to prove himself against Brown before saying what he did. As anyone with a sensible head on their shoulders knows Barton is by far the better player. at no point did I say he doesn't need to produce at all up here. To be honest I think Barton could come up here and play half as well as last year and still be better than Brown.

All he said was he is better than Brown, which he is. Halliday and Holt were better than Brown last year, he's past it and was never a good player anyway. Hatchet man yes, football player no.
He also said Rodgers has won nothing, which he hasn't. Since when was the truth disrespectful. I'd have 11 Bartons, where second is not an option.
We are Rangers, we have won more trophies than any other team and I want my players to realise that we must believe we're better than the opposition, and then prove it by winning the league. Barton is setting a good example. None of this 'Celtic are the champions and we must respect them' crap. Celtic are Celtic and we must beat them, end of.

I still think he is a really good player slightly overated at times but a great signing all around.

Onlyshowaround, are you for real? just because he's (played) in the EPL, doesn't automatically make him a good player, there are a lot of players in the EPL that i wouldn't have anywhere near Ibrox so you're saying all he needs to do is prove himself against Brown? there are plenty other players in the SPFL that he needs to prove himself against.
Bottom line is, whether it's Barton or whoever, it doesn't matter what league you've came from, Scottish football is a bit different and you can't just walk onto the park thinking you don't need work hard etc, look at other players who have come to Scotland but couldn't handle the style of play and i think all underperformed, Andre Flo, Kanchelskis, Bardsley, Salenko, Van Vossen, Boli, Bjorklund, Michael Ball, Konterman, Nerlinger, there are many more but my point is, these players were internationals but that doesn't mean you can handle the style of football here, you need to PROVE you can.

Stuz, I think your a tad confused mate. I didn't once say all he needs to do is prove himself against brown. I was defending him when he said he is better than Brown, which he is. I personally don't think he has to prove it first, because many of us KNOW he is better. so I think he was right to say what he did.

I think YOU'RE confused and this is aimed at scott87 aswell, i would like nothing more than Rangers to beat teams easily, i KNOW they've been putting the boot in to us but we can't and shouldn't be showing lack of respect, we NEED to show, we've risen above all their petty actions etc, we need to show we're the bigger team and support and they will need to show us respect.
