A hope Morelos stays with us for another season. Yes he needs stop the stupid bookings, he knows how to score goals that we do know! So a would definitely take him over Sturridge any day that's just another Rossiter aye guy is a player when fit but his record of injuries speaks volumes.

Morelos won't be staying - we are already spending the money we will get for him!
I think what's holding it up is how much we get up front - 10 or 15 mill. With add-ons for appearances.

Undoubtedly now, our squad is of a really high quality level. We welcome back to our squad tomorrow, the superb scott arfield, after his superb showing for canada, in the gold cup.
This got me thinking with our now depth in quality within our midfield, what would be the best position for scott arfield this season fellow bears? Because as far as i'm concerned, arfield should always be in our first 11.He would always have a place in the rangers starting 11 imo anyway. what's your thoughts on this fellow bears?

Evening SGL, I agree to a point however we must recognise Scott was part of some teams that lost and drew against some diddy's. One player does not make or break a team unless you're talking about Messi type players. Scott will have a big part to play but we can't dwell on last years goals and victories we must concentrate on how we beat the ugly teams this season, that's what will bring home 55. let's hope with collective skill, hard work and better players all round we can achieve that 95% of the time. If we can do that we could achieve 55, anything short then no.

Arfield was our best player last season. Although no player should walk into out team, Arfield is as close as it comes! In fairness it’s all about a squad and I’m sure if your not. Performing somebody will be waiting in the wings!

Lads I watched him a few times at Burnley and he was top drawer also watched him at old Trafford
A few years ago on Boxing Day and Burnley played man U off the park and he was outstanding

William King, when you watch scott arfield playing for us in europe but especially in the scottish premiership, you can see a mile off,
he's played at a much higher level.
Although the deal was done for arfield before gerrard was appointed our manager, i still rate scott arfield the best rangers player of last season. When he wasn't in our team, you can see the difference. He's a cracking, tenacious, very clever midfielder, who makes superb runs and the only one who will run beyond our striker.

One first choice striker in then clear as many of the fringe players as we can to include:
Grezda
Lafferty
Foderingham
Dodoo
Middleton on loan
Dorrans
Alnwick
Wallace, Herrera, Rossiter, Coulibaly already away.
Get the wage drains away as above and our business has been superb. Settled team, hit the ground running.

Firth as back up? Fods deserves a chance elsewhere as a first lick and is worth some cash to us. You could argue the back up could be Alnwick, doesn’t really matter. McCrorie is on loan til Christmas and then I’d have him as Number 2. Also need Holt to depart with our thanks.

I would like to get your thoughts guys. Imo by a country mile the best signing we have made is Mark Allan. I really don't think he gets enough credit. The way he has recruited and transformed our whole youth set up, getting SG and his team, some of the business done with a limited budget in the transfer market have been for me quite stunning.

I think you can see it most in that the majority of players brought in are internationals, albeit some at youth level. Walter Smith always said there was a duty to keep the quality of player at rangers high, Allen and Gerrard (plus the board) are bringing that back.
I can't see any English player in Scotland getting a call up mind to England team - who was the last person to play for England whilst playing for a Scottish club?

I totally agree. The way modern football works it’s not the managers that sign players anymore. Yes Gerrard will have the ultimate say on if we go for a target or not and will meet the players to discuss his ideas for them and the team, however it is Allen and the team he has set up and working around him that do the work to identify possible players and do all the negotiating that’s involved in putting the deals together. And with the way football and footballers are nowadays that’s a massive piece of work. And to think, a few months after he arrived there were a lot of folk questioning his purpose, calling him a waste of a wage and wanting rid of him.

Well pleased with Mark Allen so far
Our first team squad is starting to look like a squad that with a couple more quality players could actually win the league - it’s miles better than when he arrived that’s for sure.
The whole structure of the club is mikes better with improved coaching and scouting systems now in place
The youth system is looking like it could save us millions and in turn bring in millions
On the subject of youth I would love to know the structure of Billy Gilmour sale to Chelsea
He is starting to push on and is now playing on friendly games
I would hope that we get a decent fee if he plays a 1st team competitive game and also have at least 10% sell on
If he does well we might do very well out of it.

Yea mate, I’ve always been a fan of Italian football and without being and expert know enough about him to know he will be a fantastic addition. Also work with an Italian from Imola who is a Bologna fan so I’ve been asking about him and he says at 4m it’s a bargain!
He’s typically Scandinavian, big strong, 6”4, no nonsense type! I can see him being the number 1 CB at the club. Maybe even go as far saying captain material. Only slight concern he’s had a few injuries over the past couple of years but he will be very suited to the Scottish game!
Put it this way, if a striker gets a run on him he will make sure they won’t do it again. That kinda defender.

the reality of the situation is WE don't NEED SKRTEL. If we get the Swede we are well covered now, and two things spring to mind, 1. we can't afford Skrtel 2. previous senior citizens in central defence have ALL been a bad idea. I just hope we are not having second thoughts about Helander because of this Skrtel talk, Helander is an international with 10 caps already for Sweden, he is 26, the ideal age, so what's causing the delay? get it over the line and tell Skrtel no thanks.

Patients, skrtel himself said yesterday there was interest but that's all it was. The swede has agreed terms and a fee has been agreed, u ever think that maybe there might be a delay what with it been a busy travel day yesterday with been the 12th, its possible there was a hold up of some sort and the player will maybe just announced at the game the morra.
We ain't celtic fans we don't panic like this over a small delay. SG clearly wanted this helander if u listen to his interview. "we had an eye on someone it slowed down but has gathered pace in last 48hr If it continues at same pace we Hope to have it done by end of week" if we wanted skrtel then when helander looked dead we would have made a move but didn't. Pretty much self explained if u read the gaffers interview regarding it.

Martin skrtel's experience could be vital but i would tend to sway with Sir_Rock_Katic on this one. I'm not sure we do need skrtel now, as we have 4 centre halfs fighting for 2 first team positions. I think 4 is adequate, with young lewis mayo etc coming through.
