I said last night on leaving the stadium that it felt like a defeat. I was raging that we made a poor YB team look decent. I'm still annoyed but in the cold light of day, as many people have said, we have qualified.

We've come a long way. Hampden was disappointing as we played them off the park but you're only as good as the next game. At least we saw it over the line.

My humble opinion is that we are missing quality on the right hand side. I'd personally prefer to see Katic play ahead of Helander. Ojo is nowhere near good enough and should be send back in May. Kent has been poor but will be a massive player in time and may be feeling some pressure attached to his price tag.

We move on. Motherwell on Sunday. Don't get too high on the highs, don't get too low on the lows. Keep believing.

13 Dec 2019 22:52:09
Kent needs to stay wider like last season. he's spending too much time all over the pitch, hug that line n go at full backs wee man that's where you're at your best.

14 Dec 2019 05:33:17
Ibrox 4 me . a poor young boys? Really?

14 Dec 2019 09:11:04
Mols, yes, I think YB were the weakest team in the group despite their exploits. We threw it away in Bern with errors and played them off the park for an hour on Thursday when they offered little. I thought they were pretty poor.

14 Dec 2019 12:20:48
Agree with yous on a few things. Yes there are no easy games in next round but playing at home in the second tie would have been an advantage.
Thursday felt like a defeat and another game we should have won, but didn't.
Yes we have improved but still a few players short of winning trophies consistently.
I think SG has done brilliant thus far but still room for improvement on his abilitly to make changes that influence the game, this here is where I feel we are seriously lacking, having a couple of better options from the bench would help but we also at times need to change the formation as we are too predictable.

13 Dec 2019 18:22:51
losing that last minute goal cost the club a few bob---winning the group would have brought in a million quid----correct me if i'm wrong---.

13 Dec 2019 19:05:12
2md in the group got us 500k.

13 Dec 2019 19:05:36
Lost is 700k euros all in if take draw points into account.

13 Dec 2019 22:31:09
Decree, ime not to bothered about finishing 2 no, considering where we were 3 seasons ago, ime very happy.

13 Dec 2019 18:01:31
The draw arrives Monday and which of the following would you like to be drawn against? Do we go for a glamour all British tie or do we all hope we get a slightly easier draw? I for one don’t have any preference as we are now at a stage where we hit our target and beyond IMO. I can’t believe some of the negativity being spouted about last night as when the draw first came out who truthfully hand on heart thought we’d actually get out the group never mind being in the position last game to win it? We’ve improved yet again this year and I’m one proud Bear!

13 Dec 2019 18:20:02
Totally agree blackwoodbear.
Take anyone.

13 Dec 2019 19:06:06
Agreed, anyone, and if we progress then nice one, if we go out then concentrate on the league. C'mon the Gers!

13 Dec 2019 19:07:28
Purely from a selfish point of virw ticket wise that everybody would get would be inter. Espanyol are rock bottom of la liga. Malmo lask and braga are probably some of the lesser sides. Would fancyna crack at Arsenal.

13 Dec 2019 20:59:25
Personally, would love Arsenal, Man Utd or Salzburg in that order.

13 Dec 2019 22:53:35
Malmo lask or espanyol for me 👍think any of those 3 would give us a better than even chance of progressing.

13 Dec 2019 17:32:31
is that correct SG has signed a new 4 year contract? what on eath is going on? we don't have any money? we need 10 million before the end of the season? no investment? the chairman jumping a sinking ship and steve signs a 4 year contract? is he mad? no of course he isn't he knows exactly what's going on at our beloved club and knows a lot more than we do! sit back and enjoy fellow bears there are some very good times ahead! keep believing!

13 Dec 2019 17:54:32
Spot on briangersfan, Celtic Fans know nothing about our Club, this is a sure sign that there is significant financial backing. Onwards and Upwards for us after these dark years, last nights result, and what it meant was phenomenal for us considering where we've come from.

13 Dec 2019 20:01:55
Brian 👍.

13 Dec 2019 16:31:29
Hi

The better Morelos plays and the more records he breaks, Celtic fans seem to have a hard time accepting he's the best by a long way in our league.

They say he's a dud but I think their just jealous that he plays for us and not them.

They keep thinking there striker is better but they know that's not true, even though I think he is quite good.

We should all admire Morelos while he is here, he still has a bit of a temper problem, but he is improving in that department.

How many more records can he break, he will be sadly missed when he moves on.

13 Dec 2019 17:56:53
If someone tried to intimidate me in the fashion he gets, I would have a bit of a temper as well, he's trying hard to curb it, his reaction after his goal last night shows exactly what he felt after Sunday.

13 Dec 2019 21:55:34
I couldn’t care less what a Celtic fan thinks of Alfie. We know what he’s worth to us.

13 Dec 2019 13:19:47
My thoughts;

a) almost 2 years ago when SG took over at Ibrox we had a great team sweeping all before us. In his first year we failed miserably in Europe, ok we got close. This year we get to the last 32 but we should have done it better time for SG to go.
b) Ryan Kent is a terrible player, forget he is just back from injury physically fit but not match fit. 7mil wasted. Ask Liverpool for our money back.
c) Tav is a waste of space never plays well and just because he covers every blade of grass and never stops trying never Rangers class.
d) Morelos such a poor striker can't score against Celtic forget his 14 goals in 14 games in Europe
£20m we would be lucky to get enough for a fish supper for him.
e) And all you fools who think the earth is round its flat, flat I tell you, I have a map that proves it.

13 Dec 2019 15:43:55
🤣🤣🎣🎣.

13 Dec 2019 17:36:43
Blue Pete how many bites do you think?

13 Dec 2019 11:34:14
Boss agrees deal to 2024. Superb news!

13 Dec 2019 11:50:48
See also Klopp deal extended to 2024, meals they r unlikely to come for gerrard b4 2024.

13 Dec 2019 12:19:41
Well it gives him plenty time to learn about making substitutions.

Although i am fairly happy with where we are at the moment,
His choice and timing of subs are ridiculous. Just look at the last 3 games.

13 Dec 2019 13:14:19
Slim you can’t gaurantee that subs will work as you intend . It’s all hindsight and wishful thinking . Ojo comes on last night and plays great . including passing a decent ball through to Alfie to win us the game ( of which he really should have) then Stevie’s suddenly a genius . The boy ojo is now totally lacking in confidence, and I am not sure he willl bounce back from this . Stevie changes it further and we get beat. a good few on here would be wanting his head for changing it . Young boys were facing elimination so we’re desperate. I do agree I thought we needed a bit of freshness last 20 . but I believe Stevie knows better than I.

13 Dec 2019 14:01:59
Slim Jim I think he knows what he is doing.

13 Dec 2019 14:09:08
I agree slim jim, that steven gerrard probably should have subs around the 65/ 70 minutes mark, as we could all at ibrox visually see that there was a lot of tiredness and heavy legged players out there. Having said that,
steven gerrard is still learning as a manager himself and of course mistakes and judgements of error will be part and parcel of it. He's still a very young manager of remember only 18 months and on the whole IMO he's been fantastic as our manager. Look where we are to where we were even 18 months ago! The professionalism and high standards he's brought to our club quickly,
have been unbelievable. His european record alone is quite stunning and i most definitely think he's the manager that will end celtic's dominance! He's very loyal and committed to rangers and with him now signing his new 4 and a half year contract, this undoubtedly proves to be the case. Steven Gerrard IS the manager who will restore us to the pinnacle of scottish football again, i've got no doubt. I'm a very proud and delighted rangers supporter, that stevie G is our manager. let's go as steven gerrard would say. We're all behind him, well me and the majority of bears anyway! 😂👍.

13 Dec 2019 14:35:15
Spot on Jim and he also has to get the team to fight to the death and not sit back till the final whistle. We need to get the killer instinct against top teams.

Every top team seems to have sussed us out, let us run arround and tire ourselfs out then throw eveything at us .

Been happening for a few games now and needs to be sorted or all will be in vain again this season.

13 Dec 2019 15:11:31
Just send him a text at the appropriate moment SJ - sure he'll appreciate it.

13 Dec 2019 16:46:50
Just because a lot of you are in the "in SG we believe camp" it doesn't mean he has it right. Yes he has done well but throwing on A sub late in the game and in 1 case stoppage time to try and rescue the game as has happened lately is lacking in something.
Too little too late and most fans at the games would agree.

13 Dec 2019 20:42:28
Boss agrees extension the same as Klopp. coincidence?

13 Dec 2019 22:42:49
Slim Jim, Steven Gerard just need another transfer. Window, or two. he is barely in the door.

13 Dec 2019 11:33:09
Hi

Congratulations to Rangers for qualifying from one of the toughest groups, I feel that we could have won every game in the group.

With Celtic not playing well especially in there last three games, other teams now know how to play against them.

Rangers have played fantastic football there last three games especially in the first half, but not so much in the second half.

Will celtic or rangers go all the way in Europe I don't think so, its a step to far.

Well done to Morelos top striker in the Europa league and Scotland.

Gerrard is slowly but surely getting us there, Lennon must fear the future.

13 Dec 2019 14:17:19
Why does he fear for the future.

13 Dec 2019 14:45:00
Were through Graham and that's the main thing.

Regarding celts, they were through anyway and they could have all went down the pub and came back after the game.

Blatant old pals act, if they had no been through they would have put out a real team and if they had then got beat lenny would have run up the tunnel then started spoutin it was the ref to blame.

No sayin it was illegal tho.

13 Dec 2019 15:43:07
Whether you think his timing of substitutions is dubious we are flying high AtM. I'm not going to comment further on this but his comment re "somewhere special" from a man of his integrity makes me think we're in right place and can only get better. My biggest downer read comments on certain players last night. I was there but I'm not going to Slag anyone off because we got the job done particularly in second half. Own goal aside which you couldn't blame thought Barisic best in blue. Think other questionable players there to be brought on and SG man to do it. SG allowed to fill couple positions and think we'll be a team to respect much more.

13 Dec 2019 16:35:54
Bloo what just what, they could have went to the pub then you skate then for not playing first team why would he

13 Dec 2019 17:11:05
dd1, read my reply to Graham properly .

It says they did not need to win so put out a team that could have sat in the pub.

wE WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME AND SENT OUT THE UNDER 21 SQUAD if we were in that position by the way.

I SAID IF THEY "HAD" TO WIN THE GAME AND LOST LENNY WOULD BLAME EVERYONE BUT HIMSELF.

14 Dec 2019 13:12:36
Blue illy, I wouldn't explain myself to someone that can't read a post properly mate.

13 Dec 2019 10:06:12
Ojo was terrible last night. Kent didn't show 7 million worth. Morelos looked worried 1 on 1 when he scored. Jack, red card in own half . fair enough took 1 for the team but we were in our own half.

Aribo dribbles and goes past people nicely but he's scared to shoot.
Defence for their goal was laughable. Again as i said the other day. when we are winning stevies tactics are good. yet after their freak goal (also predicted that) his tactics are questionable.

Positives - we drew got to last 32.

Did we deserve to go through. throughout the performances from start of competition - yes. can't wait to see who we get. hopefully man u or arsenal. beat them and let alfredo see why he should stay at rangers.

he leaves for premier league he's not going to score 25-30 goals in half a season. he'll be lucky to score that amount in 2 years in the premier league. not always better . sure the wages will be more, but he's probably already got enough money in his bank to last him for years as it is.

he will be a substitute bench warmer down there. as much as i love him at rangers, why go from competing for every trophy. to maybe a team struggling to break into top 10 in premier league.

put it this way, even the likes of benteke, andy carroll, origi - these sub warmers will get put on before him. just look at tierney. he done well at celtic, went to arsenal because he was greedy for more money to a team that hasn't won anything for years and how's he done? I rest my case. basically this is my own way of asking morelos to stay . 🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

13 Dec 2019 12:20:46
9 why not just say please stay Alfie 🙏😂
There’s no way anyone in their right mind no matter how much money they have on bank would not move job for three or four times current salary . In the past players weren’t getting the kind of cash they are now.

13 Dec 2019 13:23:22
Could definitely get 20 plus goals a season down south far better players to create the chances for him and they defenders don’t like the physical battle.

13 Dec 2019 13:42:53
Thought Aribo was superb last night, and Ojo did good for the short time he was on. We have outplayed the finest of Switzerland to qualify from the group, surely a reason to be merry and joyful?!

13 Dec 2019 16:50:46
Sounds suspiciously positive bizzmybox😁.

13 Dec 2019 10:04:51
Did anyone else notice morelos celebration last night? at the end of it he never pointed to the ground. he was just about to then changed his mind. watch it back and you will see what i mean. may be reading into it too much but could that mean something? We will see if he scores again at the weekend.

13 Dec 2019 11:08:38
He was going to do his normal celebration and then instead chose to apologise for the penalty miss at the weekend.

13 Dec 2019 17:29:14
Daft, boys got nothing to apologise for. he's almost singlehandedly carried us goals wise for 2 seasons. One of those days, it happens.

13 Dec 2019 20:41:59
Correct Marco.

14 Dec 2019 00:30:08
Correct, herewego55, the wee mans has done us more than proud, love the guy being on the south side of Glasgow, Fifa imagine it was that lot from the east that had signed him, he would be a 100 million pound player if they had him.

13 Dec 2019 08:59:52
My only concern in the team in recent weeks is that Morelos seems to be the only one chipping in with goals. We need more from the other forwards. I thought this was one of the main reasons to us not competing fully last year.

Hopefully SG addresses this in the new year and history didn’t repeat itself.

13 Dec 2019 09:14:56
I agree. Kent needs to up his game as does Arfield Ojo and Aribo in the goal scoring front. To me Kent has only had one or two good games since he returned.

13 Dec 2019 09:40:02
I think one of the problems is the dip in form with Arfield. He doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders at the moment. I would give him a rest over the coming games and give Stewart a run out on the right wing, and stick Aribo back in midfield.

Stewart isn't pacey, but he is clever and has a knack of finding space and can contirbute to the goals.

13 Dec 2019 16:08:17
Arfield was brilliant last night. Was decent against Celtic too. The drop back into the midfield 3 seems to have helped.

13 Dec 2019 17:30:24
I agree swag, thot he was excellent last night and on sunday. More like the arfield of last season.

13 Dec 2019 08:38:33
I'm delighted that we are through to the last 32 of the Europa League. However, I'm a bit concerned about the last 3 games. 2-0 up against the sheep and we should have won comfortably. All over the unwashed yet contrived to lose the game. 1-0 up last night and heading to win the group yet didn't finish them off. We've got to get this killer instinct otherwise silverware will elude us again this season. Anyway, well done SG!

13 Dec 2019 09:24:46
Agree with doiger. For big stretches of the last 3 games we have dominated hugely, but have won none of them. Is it a mentality thing?

13 Dec 2019 09:48:48
Totally agreed Doiger. I posted a, comment a few mins ago on rumours page with my thoughts would welcome yours on my opinion.

13 Dec 2019 09:50:37
Could have been top of the league but drew with with the sheep. Could have won League Cup but lost to a poor Celtic team. Could have been seeded in the round of 32 for Europa League. Could haves don’t win.
Need to convert this dominance into wins or it will be close Burbank no cigar!

13 Dec 2019 08:19:21
Well done Rangers. 👍
Morelos top goal scorer in the group stages I believe as well.
On to the game.
Big Katic slotted back in with ease beside Goldson.
Kent was rank rotten again most of the game. Needs to do a lot more in the big games.
How class is Aribo at times? His close control is immense and played some lovely balls through.
Onwards to Sunday. 👍.

13 Dec 2019 08:49:21
Very disappointed in Kent last night. The boy needs to realise when he is having an off night just to keep in simple for a while and then the form and opportunities will present themselves.

He tries to force it far too much and ends up suffering because of a lack of patience/ experience.

13 Dec 2019 08:52:47
Kent wasn't at his best for sure, for me he seems to be better out wide whereas last few games he has been much more central. Aribo was superb for an hour but tired towards the end (not alone in that) . Big Katic did fine too.

13 Dec 2019 09:03:10
Have to agree re the comments about Kent last night. To me he would be a lot more effective out wider, with barisic behind him, but we don't know if it was the manager's tactics to play him more in the middle? The whole team looked dead on their feet in the second half, and I'm still puzzled why he brought Ohno on, stewart would surely have been a better bet up along side Alfie. Another battle on Sunday, but to only lose one game in what Gerrard described as a "champions league group " is very impressive considering we should have won that game as well!

13 Dec 2019 07:22:46
Great to qualify for next round but we blew it again tonight. Chance to finish top of the group which I'm sure gives the winner of the group and extra £2m but no, our bottle crashed. I try to find some positives from the negatives but I can't tonight apart from we are through. Looking at this from a different angle and thinking where can we improve or what are we doing badly because we really need to sort our mentality out. Against decent teams we just don't seem to be able to finish them off or to be able to hold on to a lead. We crumble when a team presses us and comes at us. Thought the 3 subs Young Boys tonight changed the game, something SG must sort out as I have never seen him make a sub that changes the game or even try to change the system during the game. We have 3 tough games coming up and I fear more points dropped against Motherwell and Hibs away if we don't sort it out, sorry for the negative post but I'm concerned with lack of winning mentality at the moment.

13 Dec 2019 08:23:07
Young Boys had nothing to lose and went for it.
Nothing tactical genius about putting extra strikers on.
They needed to win going by other results.

13 Dec 2019 08:33:40
Winner of the group gets 1 mill and 2nd place gets 500k with getting a draw and not a win we lost out on 700k euros last nite.

13 Dec 2019 08:59:39
I understand the disappointment but remember where we have been and where we are going. A few years ago we were struggling against Annan and Stirling and watching some dreadful football played by some dreadful players, then while the dogs were barking at caravans Pedro was standing in a hedge arguing with fans as we lost to Progres. We were thumped time and time again against celtic. Now we are completing on 3 fronts - a glamour euro tie in February, very unlucky to lose the cup final and if we can win our next 3 games we go into the final game before the break with a chance to top the league.

13 Dec 2019 10:26:48
Christ, I dread to think what the reaction on here wouldve been if we had gotten beat last night. We're in Europe after Xmas for the first time in 7 years! Kent, who according to some has been p*sh since he's been back, set up Morelos too score last night! We've got the Europa League's top scorer. We're 2 points of the top of the league. SG has signed an extension to his contract. Davis, McGregor and Defoe all set to sign contract extensions.
Merry Christmas.

13 Dec 2019 00:41:30
Congratulations to the Famous, from where we were a few years ago to now, unbelievable achievement, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we are the first team in the history of the competition to go from the 1st qualifying round to the knockout phase, if so more history, in Stevie G we trust, well done to the entire Rangers family.

12 Dec 2019 23:49:25
SO obviously we need a RW Ojo is average it says a lot when Arfeild plays there when they play bigger teams a quality RW will be needed to get out or give pace and flair we are playing a man down with NO quality in that position.

13 Dec 2019 08:55:25
This will get resolved in January. SG thought Arfield would have been an upgrade on Candeias in this position (like most of us) but he isn’t a long term solution.

Like everyone I would like to see someone already at the club get a chance there, maybe a Stewart, Hastie, Jones, or Doherty - but don’t think SG trusts either of them.

12 Dec 2019 22:18:13
Well done bears. didn't see the fans due to work. Eases the pain after Sunday.
