What would be everyone's opinion on Mick McCarthy as a potential candidate. A lot of experience and I think we could do much worse.

13 Apr 2018 23:10:03
Not in a month of sundays would mick Mccarthy be the rangers manager mate! Not in a pink moon never mind a blue moon! For the record we couldn't do much worse than him! He's totally washed up and finished as a manager!

14 Apr 2018 05:55:31
No thanks

14 Apr 2018 07:23:25
Guys let’s be realistic MM played for CFC and R of I
the last place he is tempted to go is Ibrox
We need someone who is going to relish being at Ibrox

14 Apr 2018 09:00:43
Like stevie clarke Larkhall Old Boys! Because he's well in the frame and rated by the rangers board of directors mate!

14 Apr 2018 12:11:02
Have you been on an all day bender. Catholic Mick Ex Celtic player and Ireland manager 😂😂😂😂 ✊🏻💦💦

13 Apr 2018 21:12:46
Bates or Wilson never wanted to stay so why try keep a player that does not want to wear the jersey, we have had better centre halfs in the past and will in the future, let's give the board the benefit of the doubt on this and see what next season brings with the rite manager in place for a full season. Onwards and upwards.

14 Apr 2018 06:17:09
Ayrshire ranger, half your post isn't true mate! Danny wilson wanted to stay and actually was prepared to stay on the same wages, fact!

13 Apr 2018 16:47:35
If we really think that Bates and Wilson were the defensive rock on which to build our future challenges God help us! with Bates I don't I've witnessed such a poor user of the ball none of them had any physical presence
Can't see what Bates will bring to Hamburg
We need a John Terry type a terry butcher type and a mid field enforcer can you imagine John Brown, Ian Fergus or terry Hurlock letting Brown strut about OFs I think not.

13 Apr 2018 20:16:09
The problem is that a terry or butcher type that you’re talking about would cost us millions that we don’t have. At this point in time we have to develop players like Bates, McRorie and Aidan Wilson and keep them for a few years then if they get sold for a big profit it’s a bonus, by that time another couple of youngsters should have broken through. Now we’re back to square one relying on the likes of Alves and Martin who are on the downward end of their careers then when they’re no good we’re back the the start all over again.

13 Apr 2018 23:03:21
I'm thinking a lot of fans who think Wilson and Bates are good must be in early twentys and only have the last 7yrs worth of dross to compare them tòo. Unfortunately no matter how hard we try the rest of us compare every player to the 9 in a row generation and we can't help but thinking and seeing that they aren't and won't be that class we want and need.

13 Apr 2018 14:36:13
Allowing or 'forcing' Wilson and Bates to leave is bad news for the club. Two Scots with the potential to play for their country, get the Rangers story and were coming into their game. I'd rather the two of them in our centre defence, McCrorie of course in the mix, than Alves and Martin. We need to look longer term than stopping Celtic win the league next season. I'm beginning to question Mark Allen. Hamburg are no fools and know they've done a good deal.

13 Apr 2018 15:04:50
sorry k what evidence do you actually have that the club either allowed or forced either player to leave?

there are far too many people believing the utter tosh written in the press and have no idea what agents demands actually are

i personally know an agent who has signed players for both halves of OF and he openly admits he’s out to get as much money for himself and player as he possibly can regardless of form, stability, injuries, long term
career prospects, national team call ups, players well-being. you name it they want 1 thing. money

if their demands are ridiculous and refuse to allow player to sign a new deal how are club forcing or allowing players to move?

they aren’t it’s down to the agents

13 Apr 2018 18:45:48
Is 7.5k really ridiculous?

13 Apr 2018 21:20:35
No when Ian black Kyle . Clark. Etc etc were all on that sort of dough.

13 Apr 2018 21:51:17
Bates was rubbish so was Wilson who cares that they have gone

13 Apr 2018 22:06:29
Are Hamburg not getting relegated? Or on the verge. If they can pay more fair play all the best. Prefer soutter, mckenna and I'm sure there's many more to Bates. Did like him though.

13 Apr 2018 13:15:09
David Bates- good luck out in Germany hope you have a great time and come back to Rangers the finished article.

Celtic "should" win on Sunday so TRYING not to imagine winning like before as it takes me a week to recover from the downer. let's hope our team manage to click and leave nothing on the pitch apart from crying tims.

As I said before i'm concerned about Motherwell v Aberdeen. We may end up 4th in the SPL and the last game of the season is the cup final. 3/ 4 scenarios in the final if we are 4th.

1.Rangers v Motherwell.
Winner-Motherwell, Rangers out of Europe.

2.Celtic v Motherwell
Winner-Motherwell, Rangers out of Europe.
Winner-Celtic, Rangers in Europe.

3.Celtic/ Rangers V Aberdeen
Rangers already in Europe, If 4th.

So let's hope Aberdeen win tomorrow. If not then the last few games of the SPL will be excruciating.

All the best for Sunday Bears!

13 Apr 2018 13:37:57
All if and buts fs

13 Apr 2018 13:54:19
We should be disappointed not to finish 2nd never mind discussing 4th place.

Games against the "lesser" teams and our home from have really hurt us this year

13 Apr 2018 22:08:10
Home form has been a disgrace enough said. I'm shocked how bad we have been at times.

13 Apr 2018 12:52:34
Any tips for the national bears? Thinking of having a wee punt lol

13 Apr 2018 16:34:12
Close your eyes and pick one. That's a technique that's worked best for me over the years for the national!

13 Apr 2018 17:54:47
Lol I was actually considering that option before I posted

13 Apr 2018 18:07:29
Couple for you
V-Neck - 12/ 1 - always been a good jumper
And
Dusty Rug - 15/ 1 - never been beaten

13 Apr 2018 09:42:04
2 months ago people were calling him bombscare bates now he's left he's the next paolo maldini if he's not got the heart to fight for a jersey then we don't need him.

13 Apr 2018 10:49:27
@RTID your club were only paying him £1200 a week, Hamburg are set to pay £7500 basic plus bonusses, a no brainer for the young lad to earn decent money, nothing to do with "heart" all to do with ambition at a bigger club.

13 Apr 2018 11:05:38
Get a grip Tim, would it be the same post if he was leaving Celtic, “leaving for a bigger club”? I doubt it!
Dembele going to Brighton as was rumoured, would that be the same “leaving for a bigger club?

13 Apr 2018 11:19:31
Tim's just at the wind up guys. He knows his club will always be in the shadow of a bigger club, a huge club, the world"s most successful club. We welcome the chase!

13 Apr 2018 12:52:42
my view is guys like bates and Wilson are not good enough to get us where we want to me, ie, champions

invest in quality centre halfs in the summer and see where that takes us

13 Apr 2018 13:19:58
We've already been active in scouting defenders with Paul Huntington of Preston set to be first in. A big, no nonsense centre half to play alongside McCrorie. Bates is no loss.

13 Apr 2018 13:27:28
Tim u even know how much our squad players are getting paid your obsession with the gers has no boundaries

13 Apr 2018 16:35:50
Didn’t you all know that jackanory, sorry timalloy gets all his info from the imaginary 'bigot in a suit'! 😂😱😂

13 Apr 2018 18:26:52
Union Jack. I think Timalloy and supercooper are the same person. They have got some imagination.

13 Apr 2018 09:21:22
Bates wanted £7.5k a week we offered £2.5k now the Jim Traynor show is on the road under the alias of Gary Ralston. We won't bow to his wage demands. How much are we paying Pedro's numpies? . We lost a good young Scottish player but don't worry we will sign some foreigner on £15k we no heart and no tackling ability.

13 Apr 2018 09:56:35
7.5k is a lot of cash for someone that probably would sit on our bench next season if we get the right players in

13 Apr 2018 10:24:47
There is no way he’s getting anywhere near £7k / wk in Germany. Isle of Mull is right, fake news story created by Trainor, how much will it cost to replace the boy, and some still believe a £12m bid was turned down for Morelos

13 Apr 2018 12:24:37
oh the Morelos bid is up to 12m now - - must be inflation :-) or a Seville calculator in play!

13 Apr 2018 12:39:22
@IoM - can you honestly say hand on heart that Bates was worth £7.5k a week? He was still developing and had a lot still to learn.
Good luck to the boy, it’s his choice to move on. There’s better players than him have left.

13 Apr 2018 14:46:51
Bill if you can believe a story in the record that he wanted £7.5k per/ wk, then I can use the story there was a £12m bid.
I personally think the young boy has been hung out to dry, whilst rangers come out very unprofessional and telling a newspaper the wage demands, very amateurish, spiteful, and childish

13 Apr 2018 18:10:54
Don't really understand what the fuss is over bates. He really wasn't that good. We've got mccrorie. There's 4 better defender's in Scotland. McKenna, john souttar, the other souttar up at ross county and the boy caulker at Dundee. Strange time for it to be announced, bit like dodgy Dave's announcement. Weird timing

13 Apr 2018 20:09:23
UJ more to the point do you think the following are worth £7.5k a week because they are certain on that amount and more
Fabio Cardross
Lee Hodson
Bruno Alves
Jordan Rossiter
Eduardo Herrera.
Get these guys off the wage bill and Bates £7.5k a week would be a shoe in. Young Scottish, fast, hard tackling, can read the game / danger we'll worth the money if the above get that and some get so much more k

13 Apr 2018 21:54:01
Did you say fast? 🙄

14 Apr 2018 07:47:52
Faster than any on my list who are on lot more money than he wanted

13 Apr 2018 02:22:35
Scottish cup semi final score will be Celtic 4-1 Rangers

Sad truth is rangers need atleast 20M invested into that squad to even consider winning league titles disagree if you like but reality hurts doesn't it .

Once again your being shafted by Dave king in so many ways it's too long to type

The priority is a top quality manager will it happen? Doubt it

Serious investment? Unlikely maybe 5M tops spent

Remember rangers need to recoup the 8M pedro spent

So I'm guessing next season will be 2nd in the league at best and maybe just maybe rangers beat Celtic once
Rangers will do well to finish clear second next season

That's 3 years By then dk has had to turn things around has he done enough? Possibly with stability of the club

But financially no and managerial no he won't catch Celtic using rookie managers and spending 8M it's not enough

Plus there's still on going situations going on behind the scenes with courts and possible debt and can rangers survive with dk.

13 Apr 2018 04:59:45
I feel your pain fella. Never mind eh, the teddies will be back on top soon enough and the wee knot of panic growing inside you will unravel. Bless your wee hoops.

13 Apr 2018 05:05:37
Aw well maybe I will just take the dog for a walk during the game on Sunday and not bother re-newing the season tickets then

13 Apr 2018 07:20:55
Think you should be called joe king and not Dave king after that post pal!

13 Apr 2018 12:36:01
Bates has decided to move and that’s it he decided to listen to his agent go for more money instead of waiting that’s football time to move on

13 Apr 2018 12:38:19
@DK - wee panic attack starting to manifest inside you before Sunday? The gaps closed this year points wise and with a bit more consistency from a Rangers side that is in its 3rd rebuilding job in 2 years then it might have got more interesting ( remember when it was down to 6 points ) . The Timplosion will still happen, let’s just hope you’re strapped into your straight jacket at that point because it ain’t going to be a pretty sight!

13 Apr 2018 01:17:28
Evening bears, couple of points

1. I’m disappointed to see Bates leave. Don’t know the in and outs of the situation but feel he was really starting to find his feet before his injury. Big no nonsense CB and although passing out from the back needed work he was always solid, good in the air and read the game well for a young boy. I know he wasn’t to everyone’s taste but coincidentally he was a mainstay in the team during the run at the turn of the year and after his injury I think we picked up 1 point outta 9?

2. I can’t see FDB willing to take the Managers job if Murty doesn’t get it full time. He has one last chance imo to get his managerial career back on track after shocking spells with inter and palace and if he takes our job and it goes boobies vertical after only a few months again then nobody will touch him ever again. I also fail to see the grand appeal here. For me I feel it has to be Clarke. What a job he’s done at Killie. They were certain for relegation when he came in and now they are top 5 probably could of been better given more games. Come on, he’s got Kris Boyd back to being top scorer in the league. No brainer for me.

IMO Murty has never been considered by the board as the answer. I think this was made clear when we approached mciness. Murty never got the job before Pedro and then again only got it when sheep loving Del Boys bottle crashed. I said in January we wouldn’t sign players for cash as the board didn’t fancy him long term and that any money spent would come out of the summer budget and probably the new managers budget. Let me be clear again here, not Murty bashing as I think he’s carried himself extremely well considering he has been the fall back guy twice now and was given a thankless task. I agree that given time he could be a class manager but unfortunately he’s nowhere near ready for the job and we are running out of time to stop that lots march to 10 in a row
