Just watching Newcastle and Liverpool.Newcastle absolutely no ambition or spark.team of journeymen going through motions. although I'd love their Premier league money and status, they are an Ashley zombie outfit being kept above bottom 3 to provide him with a income. know fair few Geordie fans, and although I could never understand their "big club" mentality(59 years since they won a domestic trophy, and 46 since they won old Fairs Cup in Europe)they are resigned to their fate as an asset of Ashley. and their current coach is a wahoo. we've got many problems. but would we rather be them? IMO, no.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

14 Apr 2015 01:14:59
Why not?? They have premiersh football compared to part time pub games through the journey.lol

I think what Lani means is that there are no prospects for Newcastle under the present regime even as a Premiership side. On the other hand Rangers now have the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. There will be investment, new players and the prospect of top flight football again very soon. I know our situation is still not perfect but we're getting there. And we're learning to be patient. We haven't a god given right to win every game as maybe we all thought in the past. But we're on our way and we'll be challenging the obsessed again soon. Watch out, the only show in town is rumbling towards you all once again. At least you didn't forget us while we've been away!

If Ashley would back them they could be a great side, amazing fans, stadium, youth team, just they sell every good player. It's a shame.

Well Tits,Sellik will never be in English premier .too much baggage, and they'very played a few lower league teams as well(Morton!) On their backwards journey.and they are going backwards, financially and on the pitch. but agree with guys, what hope have Newcastle fans got of improving?. rather be us. and the journey,on the pitch at least,is almost done.

Agree2 Disagree8

14 Apr 2015 11:37:38
Half watched the game myself last night. Far cry from the days of Ginola and Shearer. Hope for the sake of the Newcastle fans that Ashley does eventually sell as they among the most loyal fans in Britain and can never be accused of being glory hunters.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 11:53:29
Challenging??. A top 6 finish will be a struggle.!! TRFC will not be challenging for top spot for many a year & European games maybe by 2025 maybe hard to accept,if had cut cloth too suit,& didn't have the " Entitlement Attitude which is arrogance beyond belief do you think all the other Professional Team's in The SPL will be a walk over? No chance. Maybe if the clubcompanyentity/ improve through time ( financially, squad infrastructure) a challenge may be on the cards. But at present a busted flush is all that's available

Agree7 Disagree1

14 Apr 2015 14:02:01
Lani Celtic have never & will never play lower division football.Baggage? Explain??. Backwards??A young team with great prospects & a young forward thinking coach,Financially Secure great scouting system building a team with Scottish players not foreign mercenaries, or unfit over the hill clogger's. Backwards?? Lol if that's backwards god knows what direction TRFC are heading!!!!

Agree6 Disagree4

14 Apr 2015 16:23:43
Really annoying when you don't read post. I said they have played lower league teams. gettit?. and they have baggage. Poppygate et all. even Davie Provan said his English media colleagues were astonished by that. and Lawell has publicly said they are losing out financially by up to 10 million a year because of no Rangers in top league. safe financially ,at the moment. and are they going to win league by same margin as previous 3 years.?are you saying they are as good a team as Lennon's last one,or that Aberdeen have suddenly gone up a level?. they haven't,Celtic simply aren't as good incrementally as they were last year, year before etc. and they'll have to replace Van Djik and Denayer. kidding yourself that Sellik are progressing, and European results underpin that.

Agree3 Disagree6

14 Apr 2015 17:28:53
Oh, and as for your point about Sellik recruiting Scottish players and not foreign mercenaries, I was pmsl so much I forgot to reply. good Scottish lads like Izzaguire, Biton, Johansen, Ambrose. Denayer,Van Djik,Scepovic, Guidetti, and numerous other duds signed by Lennon like Pukki et al. clueless mate, but in many ways a typical uninformed Sellik view of life where everyone loves you, no one knows or prints any bad stuff about you, and when they do, no-one reads it or believes it.maybe if your lot stopped obsessing about us, give you time to read something other than "Sellik Minded, the Glockomorra years"

Lani, poppy gate? I served 22 years in the RN mate and I don't wear a poppy! Just because you do doesn't mean everyone else has to mate! And the cheese fest at ibrox every November is just absolutely cringeworthy! My time in the RN I never came across many rangers supporters! So get off your pathetic high horse with your poppy garbage!!

Defence needs sorting, Gareth McAuley (new captain) would be a tremendous signing, Chris Brunt & Kyle Lafferty would complete a strong Northern Irish spine.
Now all 3 wouldn't come cheap but all the released guys & the extra cash from King & his boys should make it feasible. These 3 guys would supplement the young fellows already @ Ibrox & the 3 or 4 best that should be signed.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

13 Apr 2015 18:09:24
Big Lafferty couldn't wait to leave us. I think he is a waste of space

Agree7 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 18:13:05
Don't want Lafferty anywhere near the Rangers team. Remember this guy jumped ship as quickly as he could when the club needed him most. Interesting how he starts talking about coming back when Rangers are in the play offs and more importantly his career is flagging. Don't be taken in by this imposter

Agree5 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 18:24:18
Wishful thinking mate. I wouldn't take Lafferty tho. I personally think we should sign Vuckic for another year and then try convince him to sign a pre contract in January if he keeps on performing the way he has been. I also like the look of Jason Cummings from Hibs.

Agree4 Disagree2

13 Apr 2015 19:22:04
lafferty should never be allowed back to ibrox along with naismith whittaker macgregor ness wylde and the rest of the deserters only s davis went about things in the right manner the rest should never be back and boyd should never been back either

Agree7 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 19:42:23
Who on Earth do Rangers need a 'Strong Northern Irish Spine'? What about Richard Keogh, David Meyler and Johnathan Walters to give us a strong ROI spine? Better still what about Danny Wilson, Scott Allan and David Goodwillie to give us a string Scottish Spine, we're a Scottish club FFS!

Agree7 Disagree2

13 Apr 2015 19:49:03
Mcauley is tooo auld!
Lafferty and brunt would be good signings

Agree0 Disagree9

13 Apr 2015 21:16:49
No more x players please same old same old we need to move forward not take a step backwards most of them were just merceneries anyway!

Agree6 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 21:37:54
So if it was Steven davies or vlad Weiss you would say no because they are ex players?

Agree7 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 22:23:39
When cxxx mentioned our ex midfielder steven davis there it made me think of what me & my mates were talking about after our 4-0 win against raith on sunday,we were mostly all in agreement that when nicky law is playing to his best like he was on sunday he's a very similar styled midfielder to steven davis,I'm not saying law is as good as davis but he's not far behind him,law is now playing the football that got him his move to rangers in the first place,he's playing well under stuart mccall just like he did for motherwell under mccall

Agree3 Disagree6

13 Apr 2015 23:05:57
BIGWULL

100% correct mate don't want anyone of those imposters anywhere near the club.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 23:27:50
Ceexxx the answer is yes,
The world Is full of players so why do we need to go for the same ones, I'm all for a new coaching system as well and hope we have the balls to go down the route of of Director of coaching and get a scouting system in place that doesn't just find us great up and coming players but also makes us money as well, we need to drag ourselves out of the old ways!

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 20:22:33
So nothinglefttogive you wouldn't take Chris brunt then! The guy was only putting 3 names up for possible transfers it is a banter site, being from Northern Ireland I love seen rangers players from my country is there a problem with that!

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 07:47:02
Hooly78. I think somebody touched a raw nerve mentioning Lafferty. Personally I can't stand him and, aside from the fact he walked away with the rest without a thought for us, he was actually pretty hopeless like Bambi on ice. He got involved in too much off field stuff and only ever gee'd himself up towards the end of the season when he was looking for a new or improved deal. He's not the answer. As for the other Northern Irish guys I have no problem with any of the ones mentioned. On the point of ex players returning this tends not to work although Steven Davis may be an exception. The guy is a class act and Ronald Koe man recognises this by playing him every week at Southampton. Law has some good qualities but he's not in Davis ' s league

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 08:16:53
You are mental if you wouldn't take back the likes of davis, weiss, jelavic, aluko etc. These guys are an improvement on what we have, any player who is better than what we have would be a good signing.

Agree1 Disagree3

14 Apr 2015 08:57:14
Noddy I agree with you I wouldn't take lafferty back under any circumstances!at least Davis got us some money when he left, as for law being close to Davis no way jr Davis is a premier league player law maybe bottom of championship are division 1!as for the players that walked away from us I think the worst 2 are naismith and whitaker the press conference they give and the things they said were a disgrace!

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 10:45:31
Aye Hooly. And to think the way the club nurtured Naismith back to full fitness on 2 occasions following bad injuries. Then he just turns his back on us. It's shameful at least the guys who did things the right way acted impeccably and told the truth. Guys like Bocanegra, Goian, Edu. They didn't want to play in the bottom division and who could blame them? But they were honest with the club and all of them have my utmost respect. Carlos Bocanegra was interviewed later stating he thought Rangers were the coolest club on the planet and that he couldn't quite believe what had happened. The guy was pure class!

A lot of chat about new players for next season. I reckon the most important position to be talking about is the manager's and McCall has already earned it. He doesn't have the fear factor of playing youth, has set out a good style of play and is doing it without any form of assurance of employment beyond next month.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 17:34:34
You weren't at the QOTS game then?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 18:15:45
For me the jury is still out on McCall. He is a better manager than McCoist and McDowall but that's not hard but as the above post says the QOS game didn't do him many favours. Would also think the new board aren't convinced by him yet otherwise he would have been offered the job already.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 19:24:21
i have a funny feeling even supposing macall gets us back up into s p l he still won't get the job

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 19:49:36
He seems to be only option anyway, who would you rather have? Bloody davies?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 21:26:17
I also really like McCall and if given time to make a few choice signings rather than an inherited squad he will come good. The only other candidate for me if they over look him would be McInness from Aberdeen. Personally, I think Stuart will get the nod and bring in real good talent worthy of pulling on a Rangers shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 22:32:20
I agree with most of the posts that stuart mccall deserves a crack at the rangers manager/head coach job permanently, mccall is a good coach who's tactically aware and gives young players a chance as well as being able to coach youth,I do though agree with bigwull in the sense that there are other managers firmly in the frame and being considered which may lead to mccall not getting the job permanently, mark warburton & davie weir are very highly regarded within the corridors of ibrox and are very much in the frame for the rangers managers job

Agree0 Disagree6

14 Apr 2015 08:10:49
Warburton and Weir are wanted by Premiership sides mate.
They will NOT be coming to Rangers.I'm sure they are highly regarded by every team in Britain, and will be in the frame for just about every big job that comes up this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 08:42:02
i i'd not wish to rubbish s macall I was only saying the board know who they want as fulltime manager and it might not be macall

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 20:54:21
Gkk,I didn't say that we we're certain to get warburton & weir as our new rangers management team,I only said they are being seriously considered by our directors who think highly of them, weir did an interview for a certain sunday newspaper 3 weeks ago and stated he would find rangers impossible to turn down if they came calling,so there you have it my friend and try and stop jumping the gun and read the post carefully, cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2015 04:11:47
And I just told you for certain they won't be coming.
I think Weir was speaking for himself too.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2015 08:56:48
Gkk,how do you know for certain that warburton & weir WON'T be coming to rangers? In your opinion they won't be coming and I agree it is unlikely but I wouldn't be totally surprised if it was to happen, you should take up palm reading mate as you profess to be able to see into the future and while you're at it can you give me the lottery numbers for tonight & saturday?Or maybe you are a 'gers director, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 11:02:56
A lot of fans have a right moan at times about nicky law, but yesterday to me Law was fantastic, his second goal was very good, most players would have put the laces through it but nicky placed it perfectly! I think Law under Stuart McCall could be a great player in the rangers midfield for another 3 seasons atleast! and young Murdoch, I don't think I can Praise him enough! he's like ian black but good. I really hope we sign Vuckic in the summer, Newcastle will want to cash in on him soon, and with Cashley wanting Austin from QPR he'll want some money coming in? the big question I have is who will we be bringing in during the summer? we need to sort out the defence, I'd love to see the full team getting a refurb but I'd honestly settle for the defence to be fixed first! like what Sir Alex Ferguson says, Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.

on a serious note what does everyone think of the current board? personally I'm now starting to feel like they are not being transparent as they said they would be, however I can understand why it is taking so long to come out with certain things.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

13 Apr 2015 12:42:44
Problem with Nicky Law is that he hides too much in games. He disappears for large parts of the game. The QOS game was an example

Agree5 Disagree1

13 Apr 2015 12:51:54
They made a rod for their back by saying they would be honest and transparent. I still believe they will get us onto a steady footing. I am happy to give them time. I think there was an even greater mess left by the old regime, than what was expected.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 12:55:43
seen a few people I have been impressed with from the SPL. lee erwin maybe from motherwell? he's young and like templeton but can actually beat a man, not feint a few times and dive. seen another player with the same second name but first name was jackson maybe erwin he looked decent as well in that one game I saw.

the board are fine as far as i'm aware. they did promise transparency but they also say in a few statements they will not release a statement every other day. The situation hasn't changed, they are still waiting to be cleared and still waiting to be put on a stock exchange.

I expect once they get a resolution they will keep us posted. They aren't silly enough to alienate their only source of major income imo

13 Apr 2015 13:04:14
Like the boy Erwin big strong fast and ddescent on the ball.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:07:29
Absolutely perfect signing was just about to post this, not sure about comparisons with templeton! Lad from Motherwell is more of a Striker I'd say he isn't that quick either

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:36:09
I only seen him in one game in which he scored and assisted another, he was a striker but most of his work was done on the left hence the comparison with temps. he's young as well and i'm sure mccall knows a thing or 2 about him ;)

I like how he gets the ball and just drives through players looking for the net. miss having players like that. again our players hide and fail to break down defenses.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:54:14
Lstv, yeah compared to temps maybe doesn't seem as quick but compared to Daly, Miller, Boyd and Clark he is quick lol! Am I the only person that would get rid of Wallace? Sign Holt(qos) or leahy(falkirk) descent young talented boys!
Get odonnell(partick) or naismith(st mirren) for RB. Half way to a descent defense.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 14:18:55
If anyone's getting signed from Falkirk it's the lad Sibbald, give young sinnamon a new contract aswell!

for the summer I'd bring in McGinn from St mirren, Sibbald from Falkirk, Bain from Dundee and Cummings from Hibs then a few European free agents

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 14:55:31
Please no Europeans like faure and Daly. Lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 15:05:54
Greg Stewart from Dundee is a descent player, and so is Cummings but hibs won't sell cheap.

Couldn't disagree with that one mate. They have a few good players in their team that are better than what we have. There are some good players in teams like QOS and Falkirk who wouldn't cost the earth and coukd progress under a good manager

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 19:13:55
Sorry guys - all good stuff, but I think there are a few other priorities - finishing 2nd; winning 2 , 2 leg play off games ; & then only then can we as a club start to look at players.
Gone are the days when anyone would sign for Rangers when they come calling. & in this case there will be no big money available for any of them which was always the draw for most in the first place.
Onward & upward but it will take some time.

we have all sayed from time to time wev signed players who have ability but under macoist went back the way who appear to be improving under s macall ie law clark faure crawford walsh murdoch macgregor none of the young players mentioned would have got a game under super cash if macall had been there at the start we would have a awesome young team now

We all have opinions, & yes I agree it would be nice to start lining up a new start (should have been done 3 years ago though)
I just think that for the last couple of seasons it's 1 step forward and 3 back.
Let McCall sort out the team and get us back up is step 1 - then I will throw my list of contenders for the famous blue jersey along with everybody else.
