12 Oct 2020 22:05:27
Anyone else think that they will ask SFA to cancel old firm game due to their current issues.

12 Oct 2020 22:13:41
They definitely will all tims in my work want it cancelled.

12 Oct 2020 22:53:22
I think it’ll happen, but I also think all football will shut down again, difficult to see how it carries on really,

13 Oct 2020 01:53:40
I don’t think they will ask, officially anyway, but football is certainly teetering,

My only nagging concern is that old firm games have a history of one or other team winning against the odds, maybe that’s just my old firm nerves, I hate them.

13 Oct 2020 01:54:14
The games I mean, I just dislike selling, a lot.

13 Oct 2020 07:02:57
Majority of Tainted Town have us as under dogs Tom no matter what team they put out. Be interesting to see how the bookies lay it.
Dont worry an early Tav pen will settle the nerves, save the nervousness for the horses, Saturday will be a walk in the park.

13 Oct 2020 07:43:03
If they have 13 fit players the rule is the game must be played.

13 Oct 2020 07:56:27
I honestly can’t see it being cancelled, this game is the main driver behind our mini lock down.

I really hope our players don’t switch off, we still need to be playing at our best to win there.

13 Oct 2020 08:14:32
Did we not get told to suck it up by the same set of supporters when the title was handed to them last season, what comes around goes around.

13 Oct 2020 08:48:32
the game cannot be cancelled as long as they have enough players to fulfil the fixture. The reason the Kille game was postponed was their entire squad had to isolate, Celtic have 4 players out. FOUR! its hardly worth talking about

as old popcorn teeth said himself when they were given the advantage against st mirren when they had every one fo their keepers out, its vital that games go ahead

Finally i believe we would need to agree to the game being postponed and that ain't going to happen.

13 Oct 2020 09:28:17
How big is their squad? At what point does the game become unplayable due to C.V. and what is the outcome in those circumstances - is it a forfeit situation and 3 points to us? Last thing I want is that as we should beat them fair and square. The Old Firm will go ahead as NS has publicly acknowledged this with the knowledge available at the worst time - I. e before the latest round of lockdown measures across the country. The only thing that will stop it proceeding is if the Tim's can't fulfil the fixture.

13 Oct 2020 11:10:14
its another day and another wind direction apparently. to be expected really. all anchored by the predictable. the constant drip.

13 Oct 2020 11:56:04
Might not be a bad thing if the game is called off. As it stands we are top of the league. If the season ends we get awarded the title right? . IF they win on Sunday, they go top, they get the title. I know its early to talk about the season ending but the way things are going you never know.

13 Oct 2020 12:24:41
We want to beat them Saturday then we go top on points total. Average points per game. And head to head.

13 Oct 2020 19:38:20
Nobody seems to have got the point,

I didn’t say called off because they have players out, so do Rangers,

I said cancelled full stop. Every game,

12 Oct 2020 21:02:09
A wee message for Tom

Starting to think along the same lines season might be called off early
How many games need to be played before a team would be awarded the title and not being null and void? Does anyone know?

It's certainty starting to take off again
What I don't understand and not sure anyone knows anyone who works in hospitals is why are the nightingale hospitals etc not taking all C, v patients in just now and leaving main hospitals free to get in with looking after everyone else?
Don't get that at all

It's looking like it's taking off worse than before even though
More testing etc
Can't see how things are going to get any better when 1 full lockdown over 4 months never stopped anything
It's here to stay for a good while

And as much as I want to win at weekend this stupid virus is more concerning
And every business including football is going to end up feeling it especially if the season is called off early again

Future really is so uncertain just now for everyone.
stay safe as you can everyone.

12 Oct 2020 21:53:42
Does any1 no if the games aff hope no.

12 Oct 2020 22:02:02
Hi stig,
It’s worth remembering that many challengees and appointments were in heavy arrears even before cv, and many people were waiting a long time for appointment and operations,
And as far as I’m aware, there are not a lot of people in hospital right now with C.V., right now. That is, and the authorities are now more aware of what the challenge brings

Football is living on borrowed time as far as I can see, how do you justify carrying on with something which is clearly spreading disease? I don’t know, I don’t know if they regard football or sport as a kind of holistic thing that does more good than bad, who knows what they’re thinking.
All I do know is that there’s more cases every day, and they shut down our pubs, and in my local at least, there was no cases, the good people of Liverpool are about to experience as close to total lockdown as is possible but they, like glesga folk, will carry on, , maybe football will go on, I just doubt it now, at what daily numbers do they say enough?

Stay safe stig,

12 Oct 2020 22:57:31
This virus is going to cripple this whole world, I personally think it will take years for things to normalise, if they ever do again. As regards Saturday, as Stig said, we all want to play this game, but, common sense has to prevail, we'll just have to wait and see.

13 Oct 2020 00:33:25
Had my test today. As a chartered surveyor with a wife and 2 year old I hop I test positive with mild symptoms so I can move in with my life all be it protective with PPE. The test procedure was awful and I would rather I was positive than go through that again. As for the game l, as a Celtic fan, I was of the opinion rangers would win before our depleted squad. The game will go ahead tho.

13 Oct 2020 01:15:53
The other major point to your question stig is staff
There’s not enough nhs qualified staff, for having another hospital open, and as I said there’s too few cv patients to operate a full hospital just for the virus, atm
Most sufferers are at home now, but I agree with you and John, I don’t see how football can carry on regardless,

13 Oct 2020 07:36:46
Agree guys, it is times like this that makes football irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. I wouldn't be too upset if the game was called off as I can see problens down the line with people coming together to watch it. Stay safe everybody.

13 Oct 2020 09:24:24
And to think people as recent enough as last week said this was all blown out proportion.

I think this game goes ahead, maybe in next few weeks we might see a decision have to be made.

Stay safe M4giken mate.

12 Oct 2020 19:57:57
how did SG get on at his hearing today.

12 Oct 2020 20:20:47
All cleared, dunno if was not guilty or charges dropped but all clear.

{Ed001's Note - not proven.}

12 Oct 2020 20:23:56
Hardly surprising, not proven, the getout card.

12 Oct 2020 20:46:03
A charge of remarks relating to incompetence of an sfa official, then (you couldn’t make it up) they had to postpone because they couldn’t get the zoom call up and running for the hearing to proceed.

Like most things sfa, total waste of time, money and resource.

12 Oct 2020 22:03:06
As I said, same as the ridiculous Scottish legal decision, not proven, get out card.

13 Oct 2020 07:37:44
Only in Scotland, Tom. Ridiculous 👍.

12 Oct 2020 17:55:35
something crossed my mind whilst reading back on the Ryan jack being booed for Scotland comments from yesterday. I'm jyst posing a question/ theory rather than making a statemen but would we be surprised if the ones booing hack were intact aberdeen/ Scotland fans rather than just Scotland fans as a whole. Its certainly a possibility as Scotland have a large aberdonian support. And we all know they hate us as much as we hate them. Just a theory?

12 Oct 2020 18:22:15
I think that with the game also being played at Pittodrie when they were booing could also be a clue.

12 Oct 2020 18:38:02
Sure the game jack got booed 1st time was at easter road not pittodrie.

12 Oct 2020 19:29:27
Definitely Pittodrie as that was his first cap for Scotland when they halfwits decided that its a good idea to boo your own players.
Absolutely crazy I've been to lots of Scotland games and always cheered or applauded any celtic player because once you pull on the scotland Jersey then we are all together supporting our great nation.

12 Oct 2020 20:07:54
That were booing Rangers players at Hamden when Graeme Souness was the manager,

Anyway I believe the game will be called off at the weekend and I think the season will be called off too, or at least put back for a few months,

Things have gotten far worse in the past few days, my consultants secretary called me to warn of real concern about getting patients into hospitals, worse than it was before, and it’s going to get worse again, saying a “ precedent has been set” is nonsensical, a C.V. will take precedence of everything, and it’s daily occurrence that more and more football players have been infected, that means the “ elite sportsman bubble “ isn’t working at all, and international Football should not have gone ahead, , our pubs are shut, yet they have the strictest of rules for customers, how long can they let football carry on while recording more and more cases?

12 Oct 2020 20:24:29
Well there u go then, so it wasn't "Scotland" fans booing jack but intact sci bag Aberdeen fans and are we really shocked at anything they do. Imo then that puts to bed the booing of rangers player by Scotland fans as an excuse for being against the national side. Cheers 3 cheers I didn't know the match was at pittodrie or I'd have joined the dots sooner.

12 Oct 2020 20:25:30
The treatment of rangers players had everything to do with the club and it’s allegi to the queen,
It’s as simple as that, nothing to do with anything else, imo.

12 Oct 2020 20:26:27
International football in this country is rotten, is this a wind up. Is anyone actually watching?

12 Oct 2020 20:46:31
Gerrard, do you actually believe they weren’t booing Rangers players at Hamden, Easter rd? Been happening since I was a kid nearly 60 years ago, if you simply believe it only happens at pittodrie then you’re very much mistaken, they also sing through the British anthem too btw, and if memory serves, the good ol tartan army don’t show too much respect to anyone actually, if you’re a Rangers supporter they don’t even want you,

It’s the allegiance, and the British part they object too, and always have.

12 Oct 2020 20:52:42
This rubbish it wasnt scotland fans booing jack. the fans were there to support scotland no matter what team they supported they were there for scotland so being any player from any club team is absoloutly shocking and a disgrace to world football.

12 Oct 2020 21:03:48
I have memories of going to hampden for big international games, and was fortunate enough to be allowed to climb over and into the old enclosure for the England game where dalglish put the ball clements legs, but in my 20s I noticed a clear political element among Scotland fans and the tartan army had definitely taken a strong dislike for anything resembling British, that is the reason they do not want anything remotely Rangers, Aberdeen fans may hate all Rangers players but the seeds were sown by members of the “ tartan army” turning the following of the Scottish football team as a political statement, and the hatred of the crown and all things British, this has existed in the tartan army ever since and manifests itself in the hatred of the one club associated with the crown and the Queen, that club will always be our club.

12 Oct 2020 21:14:57
Correct to thumb. That’s why I stopped going away to Scotland games, then stopped in 2012.

12 Oct 2020 21:58:28
Went to last home international v England at hampden and English fans (few thousand) usually only couple of hundred of them were waving a massive Glasgow Rangers banner. They won 1-0 Steve Bull scored.
Also remember they were running riot in Glasgow before and after the game, loads of them got arrested and a lot of them got sent down.
Imagine walking into Barlinnie as an English football hooligan, Ouch.

12 Oct 2020 21:59:09
Well said guys. I stopped supporting them years ago and will never be back.

12 Oct 2020 22:18:55
And yet John there are some who don’t know that, and make up reasons, it’s quite clear, they hate the Britishness of Rangers, and the tartan army even has its own “ political wing” guess who they support .? Nope, they “ stole “ the national team, and I still to this day have English friends and colleagues who simply have never understood why Scottish football fans hate the English team, trying to explain its the commentators they hate doesn’t work, because they hate the commentators too.

12 Oct 2020 23:20:30
To thumb, I'm only 34 mate my knowledge of such things isn't as long as you're own or probably most other folk on the site. I think its obvious though that that folk like yourself are correct in what you're saying and you're reasons for how you feel. In the same sense folk like me and the others who look beyond these things and simply want to support Scotland as we are Scottish are right in our feelings aswell. Its a shame things end up like this tbh, and its down to opinions at the end of the day. A good healthy debate to pass the day lads 👍.

12 Oct 2020 12:54:06
What happens if Scotland top this Group do we get promoted to another group, or is it another play off or what happens? I don't understand the way the Nations Lge works.

12 Oct 2020 13:17:11
We get promoted in with A teams. also four B winners playoff for a cup.
Whilst convoluted it cuts back on friendlies and actually is improving our World Cup seeding.
I’ve been to two world cups, don’t expect to Scotland there in my lifetime.

12 Oct 2020 13:46:52
John yer only 25 mate. There’s time yet. 😂😂. Na yer probably right.

12 Oct 2020 15:28:33
Try 65 mate.

12 Oct 2020 15:42:51
Do we not go into play off like we are now to qualify for euros. we topped our group last time did we not. promoted to group b and into the play offs.

12 Oct 2020 15:45:37
I honestly think we’re a top class player off being a really good team. We just don’t have that ‘Spark’ to light up a game. If we had somebody like McFadden who could just do something special then I think we’d make a major tournament.

12 Oct 2020 16:26:16
Sir rock if my aunt had balls she be my uncle.

12 Oct 2020 16:41:58
Sir rock I agree we have a more than decent pool of players. I think we are 2 good centre halfs from being a really good side. I'm hoping the coaches at under 17 levels and similar are trying to fix this as centre half has been our problem position for years. I think a fully fit Griffiths would score us plenty of goals. Although I do feel there is something not quite working as the quality of player we have doesn't match the quality of performance and its been like that no matter who the manager has been lately.

12 Oct 2020 16:50:38
Cheers Davie, how are you getting on with the £50m for Morelos?

12 Oct 2020 20:55:41
Sir rock same as your getting on with saying were one top class player of being a really good scotland team lol. you been sniffing the glue.

Football Ed001ucation - Part 1

12 Oct 2020 11:40:02
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Football Ed001ucation - Part 1

12 Oct 2020 11:12:51
Colombia have a match 1.10am Thursday morning, when will Freddo be back for the game on Saturday? Jetlag could be a factor for a 12.30 Saturday game.

12 Oct 2020 11:57:53
Knowing fredo about Tuesday or Wednesday? Itten starts 👍.

12 Oct 2020 11:59:06
Fair point. i'm not sure what exemptions are made for returning internationals regarding C.V. testing either. I thought players had to have had a negative test 48 hours prior to playing a match. If he doesn't get back until Friday it won't be possible to test and then get the results before playing on Saturday. Like I say, I don't know what the exemptions are but its going to be a difficult game for him to be ready for. Maybe give Itten the chance he's been looking for🤷‍♂️.

12 Oct 2020 12:17:46
As much as I love alfie and would start him, i'm not so much in a panic as i would have been this time last year. Could we see an Itten n Defoe partnership, a little n large? Possibly. The good thing is we have options.

12 Oct 2020 13:17:32
you see sweep. who needs a conspiracy. just incompetence makes for a stupid situation. to answer yes it does and did last time.

12 Oct 2020 14:43:56
Kri55 absolute no danger gerrard would even dream about playin 2 up top. Defoe has zero chance of starting the game. Morelos or Itten.

12 Oct 2020 15:00:28
Paul i don't doubt that lol its always worth the option lol.

12 Oct 2020 16:30:28
Sweep

Is the game not on early hours of Wednesday morning and not Thursday morning?

12 Oct 2020 16:47:05
Itten for me lesschance of getting red card.

12 Oct 2020 17:47:41
Greegs
Tav Goldson Helander Borna
Davis Jack
Kent Kamara Arfield
Itten

Sat KO comes too soon for Morelos I reckon and only consideration I’d have would be Hagi in for Jack but I reckon he will want 2 sitters in middle. Arfield is a must to press Brown and make the runs in late. hopefully all return fit and C.V. free from internationals 🤞🏼.

12 Oct 2020 18:38:51
You won't see Davis, jack and kamara in the same line up.

12 Oct 2020 19:18:45
I wouldn’t be at all certain the game will go ahead, and I strongly think the season certainly won’t finish,

I was at the hospital today and it’s basically preparing for lockdown, one more cv case and I will be concentrating on the racing.

12 Oct 2020 20:52:04
Game goes ahead! that's from wee krankie herself!

12 Oct 2020 21:09:59
Tom as long as they have 13 fit players the game must be played. unless the whole football card is put on hold.

12 Oct 2020 22:21:27
Barrow, try to understand, the game does go ahead, today,

Tomorrow may bring a completely different story, that’s a C.V. for you.

12 Oct 2020 22:21:56
At least you saw the big picture kris.

12 Oct 2020 23:54:40
We already play 2 up top with Arfield🤭😂😂😂👍👀.

13 Oct 2020 21:47:49
Tom why are you claiming in a new post you never meant that the "GAME" as in the old firm won't go ahead 🤔 its clear on here and other posts you did! I've read nothing wrong, you clearly have a bad memory 🤣🤣.

12 Oct 2020 10:38:44
Starting early, but team and predictions for Saturday's game against the unwashed?

I'm going for 3-1 to the Gers. My only dilemma with the team is should Hagi play and if not, who would start instead? Don't know if Aribo is fit but if he is, I don't think he should start.

McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barasic; Davis, Arfield, Kamara, Hagi, Kent; Morelos.

12 Oct 2020 11:10:50
Same team except I’d put McGregor in for this one.

12 Oct 2020 12:00:58
Jack for Hagi. Got to be. Need his dig.

12 Oct 2020 12:12:44
I’d have McGregor and someone else instead of hagi, Jones me think.

12 Oct 2020 12:36:38
Think itten might get a start if fit
Also think Aribo might be back too.

12 Oct 2020 12:49:47
Sorry seeker but I just don't see this dig you talk about with jack 🤷‍♂️.
Roy keane had dig
Patrick Vieira had dig
Van bommel had dig.

All about opinions but I don't see it with ryan jack.

12 Oct 2020 14:22:53
I agree Orangetinted. I like Jack and think he's a decent player but Arfield although a different type of midfielder gives you more "dig" than Jack.

Beaten w, here I go again about Hagi😂 You can't drop a player who has 7 assists and a goal in his last 8 games mate. Surely!

Before anyone asks, i'm not related to Hagi🤣.

12 Oct 2020 14:43:20
McGregor
Tav Goldson Helander Barasic
Davis Kamara Arfield
Kent Itten Hagi

If Roofe is fit enough then i would start him before Itten.
Could be a strong bench with:
Jack, Bassey, Roofe, Aribo, Jones, Balogun.

12 Oct 2020 15:01:54
Exactly the team I wpuld play Dunfermlineloyal👍.

12 Oct 2020 16:49:41
None have mentioned zunga if fit he should start.

12 Oct 2020 17:55:53
6counties

Are you mad? There is no way you can start Zunga in this game. He has hardly played much football this season, has never played in Scotland and you want him to he thrust straight into this game? The game will go by him.

12 Oct 2020 18:03:31
Zunga should start? I don’t think so, he’s trained with the players not on international duty for just over a week. I think we should go with the players or as close as possible that have dominated Celtic last season including Morelos he’s got to get a goal against them soon and I think a single goal could settle this one.

12 Oct 2020 18:04:59
Don’t know enough about Zunga and for that reason he’d come on as a sub if anything, maybe not against them, unless 3-0 up and cruising for me mate.

Teams pretty much as I’d pick, it’s Arfield over Jack for me, agree that the former has more ‘dig’ as far as my understanding of ‘dig’ goes.

Feeling really positive, Morelos to score and we'll win the match by a couple.

12 Oct 2020 19:22:29
Biff, I’m not so sure this game will be anything like an old firm game in any way, so unless Zungu is unfit then he will possibly be considered like everyone else, the game won’t go by him at all, unless he isn’t fit enough

This game should also help Alfie keep his behaviour in check and help him control himself as there’s no 50000 screaming for his head
However again I’m not at all sure it will go ahead.

12 Oct 2020 19:24:31
And Mcgregor is still the number one keeper and unless not fit then he obviously starts.

12 Oct 2020 08:08:31
I have always supported my national team when they play though like many others, I've been disappointed by the quality of the team (and managers) over the last 20 years or more. But credit where its due, the team sit top of their group with limited talent in the ranks. There's a play-off against Serbia to see who qualifies for this strange Euro competition in 2021. At least let's support our national team, however poor they might be!

12 Oct 2020 08:42:47
I agree 100%. I've been brought up to support both Scotland and Rangers and will continue to support both teams till the day I die. Win lose or draw through thick and thin they both get my support no matter what.
And as things stand both my teams are at the top of their tables so I'm a very happy supporter and long may it continue.

12 Oct 2020 08:48:56
No thanks until the bias towards the scabby mob is addressed.

12 Oct 2020 09:27:57
Don't understand why people won't support Scotland because of the SFA. For me it's a bit like stopping supporting Rangers during the Craig Whyte and Charles Green days?

I support actual teams myself.

12 Oct 2020 09:35:10
Just a thought Queensloyal11. How many Rangers players have been in Scotland's squads over the last few years? What I mean is, how many have we had in our team who could/ would be good enough regardless of how many of the unwashed were picked to play for Scotland? Unless you go back to the 60s and the days of Caldow, Greig, McKinnon, Baxter, Henderson and Wilson, all Scotland regulars, then we haven't done that well have we? Other than our goalies and Jack, who else in the current squad is a Scot, a regular Rangers starter and international class?

12 Oct 2020 09:48:57
Agree 100% boys, win lose or draw I'm tremendously proud to be scottish. Still at my age every time I hear the pipes fire the first few notes of flower of scotland, the hairs on back of neck stand up.

12 Oct 2020 09:51:07
Agreed herewego55! Even more so at the start of rugby union internationals at Murrayfield when the crowd go into full voice unaccompanied by music in the 2nd verse! Makes you so proud!

12 Oct 2020 10:13:43
DOIGER, you’ll be advocating Ryan Hardie gets a start against Serbia next pal 🤣🤣🤣.

12 Oct 2020 10:22:58
I'm having difficulties getting on the Rangers Rumours site, I keep getting directed to the Scotland Rumours site.

12 Oct 2020 10:24:33
Hewhohearsvoices. Even I have left Ryan Hardie in the dim and distant past. Nice that you remember him (and me) though!

12 Oct 2020 10:45:09
That mob accross the road aughty wash ther hands and they mite no catch c v 😅🤣😅🤣 oh fugot they don't no what soap looks like ahah.

12 Oct 2020 11:58:49
Scottish. British and proud 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️🇬🇧.

12 Oct 2020 12:23:33
Anybody who is Scottish and likes football who doesn't support the national team, and I don't mean attend games buy strips etc, they don't even need to watch them on tv as far as I'm concerned, but to actively slag them off and take joy in there struggles, then gloat when they lose etc. To me and its only my opinion those people are idiots. It wouldn't happen in any other sport or any other country. Ill never comprehend such views by Scots people against there own national team.

12 Oct 2020 12:32:03
Just to say a wouldn't wish c von any1 last post was just a wee joke 🙃.

12 Oct 2020 12:52:30
InGerrardWeTrust i agree with you mate 👍🏻.

12 Oct 2020 16:38:17
As a Scotsman, I want to see Scotland winning, its all about points of view and banter, as this is what this site is for, however it doesn’t sit well when Rangers players were booed at Scotland games by so called Scotland fans not so long ago. So I understand why some Rangers fans have no time for the National team.
As for the SFA and SPFL, let’s say we all know what they are about and won’t be getting any support from us. just like they have given no support to us and have treated Rangers with utter contempt . ( Dundee vote change. say no more )

12 Oct 2020 17:12:37
Totally agree with u bigeck. Support the team and feck the blazers and the press and its a disgrace that any player gets booed representing there country. Whether that play for rangers or anyone else. I do see peoples points that have decided to turn their back on Scotland, I just don't agree with them. Its like deciding you're no longer Scottish and doesn't make sense to me. Maybe if rangers fans followed Scotland the booing wouldn't happen. Its all oppinions and the main reason we're here is rangers.

While I support my Country I certainly don’t feel the same as I used to about them I used to attend games buy shirts and love the whole scene but the treatment of our club in Scotland since 2012 has soured it for me, I know we’ve not had players in the squad as a result of being relegated to division 3 and now we don’t have much of a Scottish spine at all, but managers like burley, Levein, Strachan and now Clark also make it a difficult for me to get excited about.

Highland, John, they were booing Rangers players when Souness was the manager, it was the British thing, I also followed Scotland and I remember going to hampden on weds nights and I was fortunate enough to watch Scotland regularly, then the tartan army became some kind of political party.
