Division 3 here we come it is the best in the end. Best of it is we will be in Division 2 when half the SPL are kicked into the Third because there is clubs on the edge and it's bye bye Sky and the gate money. Some clubs deserve it as well. {Ed039's Note - How do they deserve it? Because they done something that we dont like? We are there for many, many reasons, some I cant even come to fathom, some others dont deserve to go to the wall for our misgivings, you see this is what the fans were against us being readmitted to SPL, but let me guess "you dont care")

Believable6 Unbelievable17

Because clubs have been sticking the boot in, plain and simple. Think you will find people in the game have already said that. Also this nonsense of getting Gers in division 1 is them trying to look after themselves.

Agree3 Disagree7

The OP does have a point. Can I just say that if some other clubs do go to the wall it has nothing to do with Rangers. It will be entirely their own fault. Rangers have lived outwith their means for a long time as have other many clubs. Nobody forced them to do that they did it all by themselves. Absolutely no blame can be attached to Rangers for other clubs running up massive debts and going bust!

Agree3 Disagree1

The best post i have seen on here& it comes from the ed....fair play too you m8..stevo

Agree6 Disagree3

Simple fact is that sooner or later you will be aiming to rejoin the same league. Do you actually know what side your bread is buttered?
Also, well said Ed.

Agree5 Disagree1

Evening Ed.
It's not just about "we don't care".
We are being used here.
The SFL are in a strong position and only because the SPL(rightly or wrongly)
passed the buck.
So from that point of view hell mend the SPL.
The SFA have been trying for ages(since Regan arrived)to dilute the SPL's influence. Even if SPL clubs had voted to keep us,Regan and SFA said they would have vetoed it anyway.
The two scenarios combined, spell trouble for the SPL.
P.O.B.

Agree2 Disagree0

As Ive said before, all the reasons the rest of Scottish football detest your former team. Can't you see where you are wrong OP. You don't think anyone should dislike your former team yet feel obliged to wish a horrible fate on all those teams who competed fairly

Agree2 Disagree2

6.) To the OP when the SPL sky deal goes bust and other teams in Scotland go down the drain who is going to want to invest money in Rangers? There doesnt seem to a que of folk with real money to invest in Rangers before the club was liquidatedand at the point where the sky deal etc are all intact. Why if Scottish football ends up in a worse state would there be anymore interest? As youve told other clubs becareful what you wish for

Why have the majority of Chairmen, SPL & SFL, announced their decision on how they are going
to vote prior to the vote taking place. Surely taking this stance prevents them from changing their
minds, less they lose face, making a mockery of the voting process and wasting everyones time.
I appreciate they have to appease their fans but greater than that they have a duty of care towards
their club as a buisness and must ensure its survival and growth. I have heard the phrase "sporting
integrity" banded about a lot but decisions are made every day for the greater good that go against
integrity, morallity & honesty. Bailing the banks out being a good example.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

In a nutshell it's because they can and there is no restriction not to do so. They are free entities not bound by the 'rules' and 'ethics' that some Rangers fans, and not all, believe they should abide by.

Agree0 Disagree0

Purely business mate. If it brings an extra people through the door to watch their team it makes perfect sense.

I am a Falkirk fan who has read these pages for weeks. I have also listened to TV and Radio pundits spout on about the death of Scottish football.
A few points I would like to make.

By Scottish football I have came to understand they mean SPL football.

The SFL clubs who will be left have been working away for a number of years now without BIG MONEY and most will continue to do so regardless of what league Rangers are in.

I agree that the SPL clubs and the SFA would like Rangers back in the top league as quickly as possible but to do it by using threats and blackmail is the wrong way to go about it.

Lastly I would like to see the SPL gone forever and get back to one league system with 3 divisions where everyone has a chance to progress up the leagues if they do so on football merit. My club was stopped twice from doing this because of our stadium issues and this made us very bitter towards the SPL and it has taken us a while to get over this but we have.

Your team will come again as ours has done , good luck

Believable19 Unbelievable2

Just watched the culture show with a small piece on football about the contrast of now and in the 70s. Money it seems creates a distance between the players and fans. Not so in the lower leagues where the ties are closer. I'm looking forward to more honest and interesting games in 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post mate and you're right, 1 consolidated league structure is what we need going forward and it's a disgrace your club was excluded due to stadium size, footballing merit is all that matters.

I didn't trust the SPL chairmen to make the right decision for the right reasons.

I do trust the SFL chairmen to make the right decision for the right reasons.

I dont trust the SFA/SPL to accept the SFL decision. Money will dictate the outcome. Sporting Integrity didn't last long.

Speaking of which, I predict Sporting Integrity to be the catchphrase for the forthcoming season. Likely scenarios ?

When a striker takes a dive in a cup final for a penalty and gets caught / booked by the ref.

When a manager runs onto the pitch cos only two of his players handled the ball in the box.

Etc etc. Can't wait !

Quote from Turnbull Hutton of Raith Rovers about team representatives for tomoro's vote.

“The best suggestion I had was that all the SFL clubs should send their mascots. Our Roary Rover and Sammy the Tammy from Dunfermline should go up arm in arm up the stairs at Hampden.

“It would be a fine pantomime finale for what has turned out to be a pantomime all through.”

They should get rid of the third division and have spl, 1st & 2nd with more teams in each division. We could get punted to the new 2nd division and possibly head back to the spl in 2 years. Just a thought...

I can see a suspension coming but I hope the decent Rangers fans get their wish for a fresh and rebuild in Div 3. It will be a hard slog but will eventually be better for the game and Rangers.

In the meantime I hope that Murray, Whyte and D&P are hunted and held to account and while we're at it get rid of those three *rses Regan, Doncaster and Longmuir who've sat back and watched our game hit the rocks!

Let's hope tomorrow brings some clarity so all Scottish football can move on and stop this continual barrage of hate .
Unfortunately I don't have much faith I'm sure they are far from finished putting the boot into us.

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Could you explain how the boot has been put to you? Administration: 10 point deduction as a CONSEQUENCE of bad stewardship.Liquidation: Three year Euro ban as a CONSEQUENCE of leaving a trail of debt.A 160k fine for withholding tax,vat and ni payments plus football related debt.Paid that yet? Transfer embargo because EXPULSION was deemed to severe! Wow.Really kicked you eh? Drop the victim complex.

Rangers: SFL clubs line up against newco in Division One

Chances of the new Rangers being voted into Division One appear to be diminishing with three more clubs coming out against the proposal.

Scottish Football League clubs meet to vote on the matter on Friday, with Division Three the other option.

The SFL, Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA have negotiated a restructuring of the divisions in return for Rangers in Division One.

But Elgin City, Peterhead and Arbroath all say they will vote against.

Promoted Dumbarton, who previously announced that a poll of members and supporters showed a majority in favour of Rangers joining them in Division One, now say they will not necessarily be bound by that.

The Sons will make a final decision on hearing presentations at the Hampden meeting.

Berwick Rangers this week announced that they would be voting for Rangers to be placed in the fourth tier, while Division Three rivals Annan Athletic and Second Division East Fife have reiterated their opposition to Rangers in Division One.

Clyde have stated that, although they would prefer to have the new Rangers join them in the bottom tier, not enough information had been provided by the Sevco consortium that now owns Rangers' assets.

Before Scotland's governing bodies agreed their package of proposals, First Division clubs Cowdenbeath, Falkirk, Livingston, Morton, Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers, along with relegated Dunfermline, had all indicated they would be against Rangers playing in the second tier.

Third Division clubs Queen's Park and Stirling Albion were similarly minded, while Stranraer suggested that Rangers should be required to apply for admission to the bottom tier along with other interested non-league clubs.

That means there are a potential 17 votes for Rangers being refused admission to Division One - a majority of the SFL's 30 clubs.

Only Second Division outfit Stenhousemuir have gone public with an intention to vote for Rangers in the second tier.

Charles Green's Sevco consortium was forced to apply for entry to the SFL after SPL clubs voted against the new Rangers being admitted to the top flight with the old company destined for liquidation.

Peterhead expressed surprise that a 16-team top-flight, which had been rejected as "unattractive and potentially undeliverable" in the SPL's own strategic plan in April 2011, was now being proposed "a mere 36 hours prior to Friday's meeting".

"Whilst we have always stated that we would welcome proposals for league reconstruction independent of the Rangers crisis, we are left with a sense of wonderment at many of the newly proposed changes to the league - changes that were deemed wholly unworkable prior to newco Rangers application to join the SFL after expulsion from the SPL," they said in a website statement.

"Although we are to come under severe pressure from bodies outwith the SFL to accept these fast-tracked changes to accommodate a newco team and to hail this proposal as a 'blueprint to safeguard the future of Scottish football', we must retain our stance and those of the majority of our fans to vote no.

"We still believe that to maintain fairness in our game and to restore faith in Scottish football, there is no alternative but to admit a newco team into Division Three.

"We understand the ramifications of this as laid out by the SFA and understand that there will be financial implications for all clubs should this be the outcome.

"However, although there may be tough times ahead for Scottish football, we believe we can weather the storm."

Believable4 Unbelievable1

The vote tomorrow is not just about Rangers. The so called smaller clubs are haggling for a better deal for themselves.

The SFA have played the SPL.
Stewart Regan as chief exec of SFA has been advocating league reconstruction for ages,to dilute the SPL's influence.
The SPL and the "old firm" held the aces, and the power of veto. Ironic then that SPL clubs rejected our admission. Regan and THE SFA have stated that they would have rejected the application anyway, regardless of how SPL vote went.
The SFA and SPL are being held to ransom with Rangers being used as a sacrificial pawn.

The time is now to unite behind Green the saviour of Rangers:
1. The man who would offer us fans a 50% share in the club for the bargain price of £50m
2. The man who would ask us to sign up for season tickets when we do not know the division we are playing in, or the team we will be watching.
3. The man who's legal manouvering has enabled most of the first team to leave the club for free, and left us with the possibility of suspension from the SFA review panel.
4. The man who openly admits he is in it for the money and only seems to have potential season ticket money or £50m fans money to turn around the clubs fortunes.
5. The man who persuaded the trustworthy D&P that he was the right man to take forward the club.

I urge all the fans to unite and get behind Green, the man who will save Rangers.

Who will join me?

Believable14 Unbelievable19

Sound like the story of the guy with the soup-stone:
- Give me Season Ticket Money
- Give me £50m
- Give me your unquestionable support every week
And I will give you a team capable of winning the 3rd division...............
And a tidy profit for myself.

The man who currently is the only show in town
The man who never told us he was not in it for the money
The man who was not in one day out the next day in the next day etc etc
The man who invited anyone with rangers interest to join him and invest in the club

OP give me a better alternative to consider right now

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Same for D1, this will show how many of the 40,000 season ticket holders from last season are true blue!

Agree5 Disagree5

As i say who or how many will travel to Elgin, Peterhead, i for 1 will, and will head to the brox to support my team, plus am sick of being a winner!!!! {Ed052's Note - im with you on that mate, I will follow on no matter what division we play in.

Agree15 Disagree4

Well said reply 2. The distances to travel are not that much different but to the loyal fans, the commitment to the club is the same. In my case, more because I am determind to help my team back to the top of Scottish football. And as for this revenge is a bad thing... boll0x! I will be delighted to watch SPL clubs collapse and fall past us as we climb the leagues!

(The real) BB

PS. I have £50 at 18-1 at my local bookies for Rangers to win the next 4 league titles they compete for

Agree8 Disagree6

Were all sick of the shambles that is of rfc,s own making, all who are supposed to be running our game should be fired asap,as they are inept, corrupt& way out there depth..will sevco have a license ED in time for the start of season??stevo {Ed052's Note -yes that is what is happening tomorrow, once we have heard what division we go into then a licence will be issued accordingly mate

Agree2 Disagree0

"travel to Elgin or Peterhead".

Fans of Rangers travel to Ibrox from these places, and further. It would be a disservice to these supporters for Glasgow-based fans to watch in the pub instead.

Agree4 Disagree0

"I have £50 at 18-1 at my local bookies for Rangers to win the next 4 league titles they compete for"

That's a good bet. And certainly the first three are realistic. The fourth would be a fairy tale but, hey, why not?

Agree4 Disagree4

So the bookies are taking bets on a club called rangers. so no need to pay out if new club name wins.

Agree7 Disagree5

Throwing your money away,as the newco will be in DIV1,as has been decided by the shambolic, corrupt SFA in advance, its a pointless meeting tomorrow, shocking how the old rfc,can walk away, yes thats rite walk away, from tens&tens off millions of debt, start off again in DIV1,no doubt come straight back up into SPL,with no debt, whilst every other club has had too pay there way for years, the crys off boycotts, bloodlust&all other bolloc*s have been boring, but be careful what you wish for,as can see a vast amount off supporters boycotting any game at the asbestos ridden arena...stevo

Agree0 Disagree2

It's a ballsy bet, "compete for" is good wording as it covers you for expulsion presumably if that happens. However the difference in income generated by Celtic and Rangers over the next three seasons, especially the first one, will make it nigh impossible I feel. Division two and three if Rangers get an average of 32,000 they'll have done well. Meantime European money, likelier domestic cup success and probably an average of say 50,000 might see Celtic make over £20m more than Rangers over those three years, probably more. Cant see Rangers winning the SPL in the next 5 years short of a huge investment from another source.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2012 22:29:39
Does anyone believe the "newco" will be playing football in the sfl next season?
Couple of reasons why I don't think they will be.......
1st. No accounts to allow sfa membership
2nd. Can't use the rangers name for 12 months
3rd. Uefa/ FIFA won't stand by and allow sfa to change rules whenever they feel like it
4th. Can't guarantee promotion from first division
5th. Other teams have been promised next available position in league is fo them
6th. Newco has no squad
7th. Newco has nowhere to play yet...ibrox running cost could not be afforded on league 1 or 3 income
8th. Playing a season under a new name would be unpalatable for most rangers fans and would kill off the illusion of history remaining intact
9th. Sponsorship all in rangers name not newco yet.
10th. No new strips yet for newco, supplier- design- badge- sponsor- manufacture( ties into point 8)
Just to name a few points.

Jd

Believable15 Unbelievable12

Agreed, it's gonna take months yet to sort this out, noway will we be ready in just a few weeks.

Agree9 Disagree3

Accounts not needed as have 2 of last 3 years and we are transferring!

Agree3 Disagree5

Rangers might not be playing anywhere ever again.

I fear the club has been sacrificed upon the altar of political correctness and expediency.
There is no place in UK society anymore for such a club or such values.
I fear Donc and Reg ventured up from England a couple of years ago to do exactly as they are doing.

Agree6 Disagree5

Cant believe the mess were in.Iam honestly beginning to think that we are going the way of third lanark, god forbid.

Agree8 Disagree2

I would say 99% yes, Rangers will be playing in "a league".

But I'm starting to wonder if the mess is so bad that there is a real chance of no league to play in. In which case Rangers' best hope is to play cup matches and apply for whatever new structure appears at the end of the season. Horrid? Yes.

Agree2 Disagree2

To 2) poster. You are not transferring, you don't have membership of any league or football association at this present time since being EXPELLED by SPL. This is a new application by a new club to gain entry to both SFL/SFA membership.

Agree3 Disagree3

@6 You are wrong. The application was to transfer the SPL share, which we know was refused but it is a transfer of membership to the sfa and sfl.
