Couldnt stay up to watch the game so just watched it now. For me this was a pure training game, although always good to win.
Im not going to slate anybody on the back of that as there one or 2 defenders that were not 100%. However there were glimpses of Murphy in the first half that indicated that he will add that edge up front, a good turn and fast feet.
Im not going to say anything else as this was no more than a bounce game against kids, let's wait till we play against a full strength Corinthians on Saturday.

They will destroy us unless we put out a strong team, so I hope GM will not do the same as today.

We are approaching a time where we have no excuses, this squad is almost good enough to win the league 2018/ 2019. The 50,000 at Ibrox, the magnificent away support, the tea lady, the grounds man, all of us, must also go to the next level as if they had the famous blue jersey on.

12 Jan 2018 23:20:47
Morelos needs a strike partner. he drops too deep when he plays up top himself. You will get the best out of him with a 4-4-2 a think.

13 Jan 2018 10:50:16
I watched it live. definitely a friendly but same defensive mistakes as always. Bates had a bad game which is unlike him. Team was totally switched at half time and second half much better.

12 Jan 2018 20:36:36
Just like i posted on here nearly 2 weeks ago now, rangers make their move to try and sign hamilton accies midfielder, greg docherty! It was a motherwell youth coach i know who told me this, around a fortnight ago! Its being reported on various media outlets tonight that rangers are now in talks with hamilton, with a transfer fee of around 600k being touted! Greg docherty is a tremendous box to box midfielder and would be a very good signing for us! So far i've been impressed with graeme murty's transfer signings and targets!

12 Jan 2018 22:13:38
Docherty would be great signing. Really hope we go all out to get the boy it's a no brainer.

12 Jan 2018 23:07:51
Would be a good signing coopšŸ‘

12 Jan 2018 23:09:49
who has murty signed?

Murphy on loan and a QPR reject?

13 Jan 2018 00:53:27
Not seen much of the lad Docherty tbh. It does sound like a good piece of business, but after bringing in Goss when Jack and Dorrans return Barjonas will surely struggle to get games. Might be worth sending Barjo out on loan if we get Docherty?

13 Jan 2018 16:57:35
Docherty is the exact sort of player we should be targetingšŸ‘

12 Jan 2018 20:21:24
Halliday needs games as he has not played much . What he does give us is, he plays with his heart on his sleeve and if that rubs off on some of the players then it will be good . He might not be the best player in the world but he certainly loves rangers . I would keep windass his game will come on with better players round him.

12 Jan 2018 20:49:12
he Isnā€™t good enough and was shown up last season. Doesnā€™t matter how much he loves the club he just canā€™t cut it for Rangers and running about wonā€™t make a difference

12 Jan 2018 21:10:20
Iā€™m not Hallidays greatest fan but how bout people judge him properly after heā€™s played a few games in his actual position which is anywhere on the left hand side. crazy idea but it might work and also save a little cash in the process? After all to put this in perspective, if Terry Butcher an imposing centre half played as a centre forward heā€™d be absolute ā€œsingle fishā€ and the heā€™d probably consistently play bad there no matter how many games because he played his whole career as a centre half. compare that with Halliday and a left winger or left back was playing as a holding midfielder, something I never ever understood as itā€™s down that left flank he played and excelled for Livingston and Middlesbrough šŸ™ˆ The boys never a holding midfielder anymore than Iā€™m a ballerina but he is a decent left sided midfielder and maybe if he gets played there we might see a different player. and would be good cover for Jamie Murphy too šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

12 Jan 2018 21:19:02
Halliday is a long way off the standard required and I think heā€™d be lucky to get a game with a lower league SPL team. I see no real sense in loaning him out, heā€™s not going to improve and losing a further 6 months off his contact will just lower his value further. Hopefully what he can bring to the table will be to help some of the new players understand what it means to play for Rangers and play for the shirt!

12 Jan 2018 22:57:01
Jimiblue

Sorry but Halliday canā€™t do the basics and isnā€™t good enough for Rangers if we are to challenge. Even being played out of position itā€™s clear he doesnā€™t have the quality needed. Couldnā€™t have been that great at Middlesbrough if he ended up at Bradford.

13 Jan 2018 00:37:31
Would his first touch and desire to track back magically improve if he was moved position. Somehow I donā€™t think so.

13 Jan 2018 17:00:44
Didn't see the game but if reviews are correct I won't get carried away with Halliday having one decent performance. Yes he was very poor last season but so was the squad as a whole. What I will say is Halliday deserves a clean slate under Murty like everyone elsešŸ‘

12 Jan 2018 20:21:28
I don't know what is going on with Herrera.

What I do know is that his passion is not questioned. We can see that when we score as team.

I want him to be a success. If not, then so be it. He know knows the city, the club, fans, country, weather. If he is to improve and succeed in Europe then it will be now. If not, then we have lost out. His lay off was good last night. I think technically that he is good but I don't think that he has the minerals, he isn't leaving so let's embrace him for now. I would rather support him rather than put him down while he plays for us.

Disagree but please tell me honest thoughts on him and what will happen.

12 Jan 2018 20:36:35
Agree

12 Jan 2018 20:51:08
Not suited to the Scottish game no pace and no real physical presence. Not saying he isnā€™t talented but not for us. Another costly mistake

13 Jan 2018 01:55:57
Seems a sensible guy. He loves the club, fans, Glasgow, and I'd love him to be a success.
He knows he is privileged to be playing for the famous.

Here is hoping he can become an important squad player, or even more. I haven't seen enough yet that makes me think he will. But it can take time for people to settle. Vidic was an awful defender in his first season at Man U, and I mean awful.

12 Jan 2018 19:14:57
Never seen the game last night but will tune in tomorrow, nice to see Atakayi get a run out first half, how did he get on fellow bears?

12 Jan 2018 19:41:22
Didn't do an awful lot for me. Still a bit early I think, but good to see him getting some game time.

12 Jan 2018 20:22:32
I don't think he is ready for the first team, showed potential but a bit too soon for the first team.

12 Jan 2018 20:50:12
Sorry guys, I see a lot of people come on here raving about the lad. But on last night's display, it's time to move on.
Hopefully he just needs time to step up, so good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

12 Jan 2018 23:33:54
You don't decide on how good a (young) players after one half of a friendly match. That's just mad.

13 Jan 2018 00:34:31
You don't decide on a young lad after watching play, one half of a friendly match. I have no idea if the boy is any good but got to give him the chance surely?

13 Jan 2018 01:57:39
I'd look at loaning him out. But only to a premiership side, or top four championship side (Scottish leagues obviously)

12 Jan 2018 14:47:30
Hi just my opinion things looking good at the moment with transfer dealings goss and murphy look good, I personally would take a chance on naisy to the end of the season, young Docherty would be good as well but we might miss out on him also if alves goes we might need to look at a centre back I guess martin on a loan might be a short stop till the end of the season.

Secondly I think we have to start planning for the Europa league now and must look to recruit a better class of player on Bosmans to come in at the end of the season we will need at least two strikers, maybe macarthur and arfield in midfield if they will take massive pay cuts at least one more centre back I thought toni leistner the best cb in Bundesliga 2 and at least one more quality fullback

12 Jan 2018 15:12:58
Do we have money for all that though?

12 Jan 2018 15:19:33
Totally agree Canderside, hopefully the new scouting dept will bear fruit, realisticly should we go on and qualify for the Europa League then the games will start late June so we need a settled squad before then which makes this window crucial as well as the summer. Hopefully we can get 5 or 6 fringe players with no future off the books and maybe a couple in but I fear that our business may be done already.

12 Jan 2018 20:27:07
Arthur d, I think we will have enough money as Docherty is the only one we need a transfer for the rest are bosmans so just wages required and of course a lot of money is being freed up if alves goes and kranjcer and miller won't be getting new contracts and dalcio will be gone hodsons days are numbered with dodoo and halliday and murty doesn't rate hardie obviously he has seen more of him than anyone and doesn't give him a game and who knows what's happening with Cardoso and hererra.

12 Jan 2018 13:50:27
I'm sorry but the folk on here saying they thought Halliday was good last night. We're you off your meds or something?! What game were you watching? The Brazilians were rank rotten and Halliday's first touch was still like a baby elephant and his second touch is a foul.

12 Jan 2018 14:03:37
Spot on.
I'm not going to say he should never play for Rangers again but he was poor last night.

12 Jan 2018 15:03:13
Think you need to get on some meds blue89, credit where its due, halliday had a great game. Yes the brazilians weren't great and tougher tests for halliday will come but to say he was poor is way off the mark.

12 Jan 2018 15:37:38
Your joking right? Do you like him because heā€™s ā€œone of our ownā€?
Who is he better than that we already have in midfield. He doesnā€™t offer anymore than Jack, Dorrans, McCrorie, Holt, Barjonas? None of them. He couldnā€™t get a game for a pub team in the Middle East so that tells you everything you need to know

12 Jan 2018 15:52:51
Goss looked good, very promising, for all the nay sayers when we took him on loan.

12 Jan 2018 16:53:08
Halliday is a decent squad player. Nobody us saying he's come back to solve our problems. We lack depth and he provided a bit of cover to the first team. Not great but still useful to have.

12 Jan 2018 18:41:16
Spot on coldo, Halliday had a great game and was part of a team that won to zero what were you wanting from him? A hat-trick?

12 Jan 2018 18:44:33
You must be joking blue, none of what you said takes away from the fact Halliday had a good game this morning or have you not watched it yet?

12 Jan 2018 18:50:23
Who said he was better than anyone we have or offered any more than anyone else? We are debating whether or not he played well last night and he did play well. Why are you waffling on blue89? And to answer your question, I slated halliday and was glad he left on loan but in the interest of honesty, credit where its due, halliday played well last night.

12 Jan 2018 23:33:54
Get off Hallidays back.

12 Jan 2018 13:49:24
Any one else agree Murty seems to be assembling a decent squad- two teams last night and still missing - Miller Wallace jack dorrans, alves and Wes. Get rid of a couple more add a striker and center half and confident we will finish second . Who knows might even close the gap

12 Jan 2018 18:48:09
yep agree
we need to beat tims at brox to give players belief they are not invincible, oh sorry hearts.

12 Jan 2018 01:59:54
Ft 1-0 good solid performance - goss and windass were standouts.

12 Jan 2018 07:45:57
Watched the game. Many positives - the boys looked lean, fit and fast. Was impressed with the new boys and thought Halliday played well. It was a good test as the opposition players were young and ran about like greyhounds! Good job they couldn't finish mind you but I think we deserved the win. Big Wes looked suspiciously like young Kelly! (For those who watched on espn)

12 Jan 2018 08:35:33
Thought goss played well first half and I know it was only a friendly but our passing at the back was poor should off really been 2 down but the couldnā€™t finish second half much better but in my opinion Halliday, hodson, dalico need to go I think there the weak players in the squad

12 Jan 2018 09:36:32
Personally I thought Halliday was a headless chicken last night, lots of energy and that was it. Bates had an absolute shocker. Of course it was just a bounce game and nothing more.

However there were plenty of good performances (Goss, Halliday, Candeias) that we can take confidence from.

12 Jan 2018 10:07:18
Allanlewis - wrong about Halliday- he had a solid half and was giving 100% . He is a welcome addition to the squad

12 Jan 2018 10:28:42
If that was a competitive game he would off been sent off. I think Halliday is the weakest in the team in that position thatā€™s all

12 Jan 2018 12:18:13
the game last night confirmed 2 things for me:

1. Dalcio is not a footballer
2. We desperately need a striker who knows where the net is to play with Morelos

12 Jan 2018 13:45:28
Our manager clearly disagrees- raving about his performance and desire - that will do for me.
Not sure why we always seem to dig out the Scottish lads - Halliday is an honest pro who loves our club. As I ah e said previously the more of them the better.

12 Jan 2018 14:05:50
I've not seen anybody question Halliday's professionalism but I believe his ability is very much open to debate.

12 Jan 2018 14:46:19
Halliday after 1 game haha šŸ˜‚ get a grip give the guy a chance jeez

12 Jan 2018 14:53:55
Think you need to give halliday a chance till he gets up to speed and you can judge on SPFL performance

12 Jan 2018 14:59:52
How can you say halliday was a headless chicken and that was it then go on to say there were plenty of good performances and put halliday in brackets?

12 Jan 2018 15:00:22
Halliday for me is a championship player at best. We all know he loves the club and will give his all. Time to move on .

12 Jan 2018 16:55:08
My bad.
That should have been Windass that I put in brackets for having played well.

As for him being a headless chicken, his ball control was poor, his passing wasn't great and the less said about his challenging the better. I'm not writing the guy off but it's my opinion that he was poor last night.

12 Jan 2018 01:46:33
Windass had a very good half - Halliday solid and MOH looks lively . Would like to know how dalcio gets a game

12 Jan 2018 09:37:19
Thankfully Dalcio doesn't get a game :)

12 Jan 2018 12:18:56
Dalcio is never a footballer. he was woeful

12 Jan 2018 01:16:49
I am just putting this out there to see what fellow bears think of this but i would love to see scott arfield come in on a free transfer he is an amazing left sided mid with pace and skill.

12 Jan 2018 03:56:52
Would be a good signing mate but someone will out bid us on wages

12 Jan 2018 00:07:42
Ed, can you do a poll on who would we prefer to sign between Naismith and Cummings.

{Ed033's Note -

Naismith or Cummings Poll

12 Jan 2018 02:11:18
We have no money. Cummings isnā€™t an option bar a loan deal. Naismith being a free and wages not being a factor fits our club 100% better at this current moment in time. Fans need to be realistic with signing ambitions. Would I rather have Naismith and Docherty from accies prob for less than Cummings deal. every day of the week!

12 Jan 2018 03:01:01
Both of them if not then another big let down to, ththe fans from the board. Would be happy, with These 2 signings and a defender, then would definitely finish second and not far behind the manky mob this season.

12 Jan 2018 14:16:13
Cant get my head round people wanting Naismith now i understand he could no doubt "do a job" for us but Naismith claims to be rangers fan and for any rangers fan to claim we are no longer the same club which is what Naismith said in an interview when he left and for a supposed fellow bear to say this is unforgivable this is why i wouldn't want him back this is the difference between him and the other rats that fled!

12 Jan 2018 14:27:18
Spot on mate. There was no excuse for what he said and I could just imagine the reaction from Rangers fans had Lawwell or Lennon held a press conference to say the club had died

12 Jan 2018 14:39:46
both of you take your heid oot the sand. we need people at the club who score goals, win points and close the gap - not backward thinking fans with their idiot baggage.

12 Jan 2018 15:06:47
@martyb125 its hard to forgive a supposed fellow bear when they say things that you would expect from that mob across the city i understand what you are saying but for me we don't need people like that near our club do you think claiming we are not the same club is the type of person we want or need cause i don't and i am not a backward thinking fan with idiot baggage this is only my (and several othets) opinion and you are entitled to have yours and at the end of the day we all want us to be back were we belong and that's at the top!

12 Jan 2018 15:16:13
Martyb

Can you please explain the comment take your head out of the sand? What are you talking about? Iā€™m not aware of anyone or anything ever doing that so I donā€™t know why you try to make you point by saying something that no one does
