Fellow bears, am I the only one thinking that this board intentionally picked a venue that they knew would get knocked back as they are stalling for a reason to benefit there own agenda in choosing a new venue which I don't think will happen and the egm won't go ahead on the 4th of march, they will buy more time for themselves as you can bet mike ashley WILL have something up his sleeve, I hope to god I'm wrong but something keeps telling me ashley will win this particular power battle, this guy says nothing to the media and never rolls over and anybody who thinks he will has got another thing coming and are in for a big shock, what do we think guys?

erm yes m8 you are the only one who thinks that,
unless you include the other thousands who have been saying the same thing for weeks of course?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jr. I think and hope all will go well at the e.g.m.the current mob are not even trying to defend any of there actions, I think they know they will be removed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jr the only other reason for no e.g.m.would be if enough votes were sent before the date, and the board know they are beat, then they could drop the e.g.m.stepping aside to allow the new board that would come in had the e.g.m.taken place.so everybody should give there proxy vote ASAP to let them know they are beat, though ime pretty sure they know it's over.

Rangers First is now the biggest fan ownership organisation in Britain, now exceeding that of Hearts with 8100 members and a 1. 7% stake. This is a fantastic effort from Rangers' amazing fans. I signed up last month I'm pleased to say and have already given my proxy vote. Roll on the EGM!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Aye true. I see John Brown is now encouraging more ex players to get involved. John was vocal from the outset and was ridiculed by some people, love or hate him the guy was vocal and got up of his backside.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes massive, the club is ours now. oh wait, 1.7% shares, 8100 members, no club donations, no say on board, no power, no, wait a min, Hibs fan ownership scheme has put more money into the club than the "massive" 8100 and Britain's largest fan "organisation" lol awwww come on, don't make me keep going, this is too funny, neeeeext!!

Ahh Rangers, the gift that keeps on giving.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to start somewhere pal.Have you joined one of the groups?Obviously not or you wouldn't be laughing at other peoples efforts, probably been to 3 games in your life.

Agree0 Disagree0

Must have missed the razor sharp satire in that post. perhaps if you read it to yourself enough it'll get a guffaw or two. now off you go.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2

You may scoff, however, along with the RST they hold around 3.5%, which could be pivotal come the EGM. Why you find it funny is perplexing, perhaps you are a 'happy daftie'.

Rangers keeper Steve Simonsen has been banned for two games after being found guilty of betting on 55 games following a hearing before an independent panel. On better news Cammy Bell is back to full training.

Two match ban scandalous should of been ten seems the sfa are trying to punish Rangers fans fortunately it would appear Bell is fit again and hopefully we won't see the man doing nets for us again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Worst keeper since Nicky Walker. They should have banned him outright.

Simonsen and McCulloch banned for the Hibs game, Oh well looks like we my have a chance in winning this one.

The Eastenders will think it's all due to a bias SFA

Agree0 Disagree0

Appeal it ask for ten

Agree0 Disagree0

He was recommended by Bomber he should be banned as well lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Simonsen ban is a bonus to us he could, nt catch a cold we have always had great keepers as far as I can remember would pay good money to see him go

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we could get Ricky Foster banned for the rest of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe support the players instead of ridiculing then at every opportunity! Steve simonson has save rangers a lot more times than he has let us down. And Ricky foster and Lee mcculloch at time look like the only players interested! Am sure they are not delibrately playing badly.

Agree0 Disagree0

No 8, very true, and let's be honest McCullough has always been an average player

Agree0 Disagree0

Ceexxx I don't think they are playing badly intentionally, I think they are playing badly because they are too old, there auld tired legs can't last the pace against there younger opponents.if games were played at walking pace they would do okay, but unfortunately for us it's a young mans game.

Afternoon troops. Just sitting on my break talking to the guys and I suddenly realised it was 3 years ago to the day I was the happiest bear in the land, we had just done three in a row we had won the 1st old firm game 4-2 taking us 13 points clear of sellik we were in the champions league qualifiers all seemed so bright. Now I feel like I've nothing left to support I mean it's still rangers and I wear my crest with pride but it's not the same anymore and I have an almighty hole in my life that I worry will never be filled : ( anyone else feel this way?

Your our only hope DK

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry, you're not alone. Maybe in the not so distant future we'll have Dave King running things, Derek Mcinnes at Ibrox and Felix Magath at Murray Park.

ED001/ED039 with the new Sky/BT televsion deal kicking in shortly what can Mike Ashley make from Rangers that he will not make at Newcastle. His club are guaranteed minimum £100m in 18 months time with Ashley having to do very little financially, even if he sells thousands of replica shirts and other merchandise it will take Sports Direct YEARS to equal that amount.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - simple answer is nothing. He will never make as much from Rangers as he can from Newcastle.}

Not as a going concern, anyway.

His aim has always been to get himself into the contractual position where to get rid of him he has to receive a multi-million deal by anyone willing to buy him out of his contracts.

The more annoying he is, the more they will pay to get rid of him. If nobody will pay, he makes a decent income form his 'onerous contracts', he puts in just enough money to keep the team mid-table but no higher.

Like him or loathe him, he has a business plan. Him and Green saw a failing business on its knees, with a huge customer base who are emotionally-driven. This is ripe for the sort of thorn-in-side-payout deal that they have set up.

I reckon it'll cost the 3B in the order of £40million to get completely rid of Ashley. This is why King is one minute slagging him off, and the next saying they can work together. The 3B don't have the money required to completely buy him out.

The EGM may change the details of a few deals, but this is the underlying position, and King with all his fancy talk (remember Green and his?) cannot change the finances.

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Sadly I think you are largely right. The idea that if King wins the EGM that he can just rip up the onerous contracts and things can get back to normal in a year or two strikes me as totally naive.

Personally I have nothing but contempt for Ashley but he does seem more skilled in making money from his exploitative but legal methods than just about any other British businessman today.

Hope I am wrong but if he really wants to win the EGM then I think he will although maybe he will be content to be defeated, knowing that he will still make a pile of money from the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naz, it's a bit like that part of the movie Die Hard, where the cops finally answer the call and they all pull up to the building en masse, and the moviegoer is supposed to say "oh that's his plans foiled and in reality, Hans Gruber was expecting this to happen all along, it was part of the plan.

If people are sitting here thinking Ashley is going "oh noes, the 3B and King are going to win the EGM and that'll be my game up" are sadly naïve. A bid for control by a rival group was ALWAYS part of Ashley's plan, it was just a matter of when. It doesn't matter to him who or when it happens.

He either sits on his onerous contracts taking millions per year out of Rangers, or a rival group makes him a multi-million buyout offer. Either way, he wins.

Win win situation for him Naz.If King loses(god forbid)he'll have the assets.
If King wins the punters come back, and like it or not, they will buy Rangers merchandise, especially the latest shirts for their kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

DisExpat, Your post @ 3] might be hard to swallow, but that simple appraisal sums up our position. Ashley might not be the most decent person in the world, but he certainly knows how to squeeze everything out of a desperate situation. Like other posters have stated, he is probably one of the instigators of the desperate position we find ourselves in. One thing is guaranteed, the full truth will never come out and we might win the vote at the egm, but Ashley has got us by the short and curlies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Billyb I don't think Ashley is one of the instigators, I think he is the instigator, him alone, these people all work together, for Ashley, planned from day one IMHO.

Ed, do you think our egm will definitely go ahead on the 4th of march mate?I'm beginning to fear that it might not, tonight have made felix magath 5/4 fav for the next rangers manager followed by stuart mccall4/1 & ian cathro 10/1, what do you think ed?Personally I'd take ian cathro as our next manager/head coach in a heartbeat, he's exactly what we're needing as he's a very good coach especially with youth, I would undoubtedly have felix magath above him as overseeing everything at murray park as technical director, this in my opinion would be a terrific combination, what's your take on this ed & fellow bears?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - The EGM should go ahead on 4th March, it can only be postponed for a very good reason. Next manager wise I would take Stuart McCall. He has worked within a budget all his managerial career and has made some good contacts down south, has usually done well bringing up out of contract no hopers and turning them good, ie Nicky Law, Chris Humphrey)

Sadly mcoist managed to returns law to his original state lol
