Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

Don't think we can get carried away with the last two results tbh. It's been encouraging to say the least to see us mix it up a bit and warbs has eventually started seeing sense with taking tav out of our defence.

I have been at both games and we have had the better of both games but we got away with an Aberdeen glaring header which should have been converted at 0-0 and also got a disallowed goal chopped off at 0-0 in the hearts game. Luck was with us both days thankfully but the margins were still closer than I would like. Especially in the Aberdeen game.

Lots of positives to take from the games garner, McKay, hodson in particular and feel we are starting to show the progress that most fans probably expected at the start of the season. Onwards and upwards from here hopefully.

No Rangers fan is getting carried away with the two results. There is a difference between being carried away and being glad your team has actually started to click, and against two of the most difficult teams in the league (apart from them) .

Have heard a lot of this mix it up, plan B stuff. He's moved Tavernier into midfield against Hearts and Miller into midfield against Aberdeen.

Windass, Rossiter, Crooks, Kranjcar all have acquired some sort of injury which made the rotation a must.

But he hasn't changed his system or moved to a plan B. He's moved players into different positions and still played 4-3-3. And it has worked.

A glaring header Aberdeen missed. Forrester missed an absolute sitter against Aberdeen and we could have had five or six against Hearts.

We played well on the day. Both games. We also had a goal chopped off against Hearts and had a chance headered off the line. Every team gets their fair share of fortune throughout a season.

You need a bit of luck in football. It's starting to go our way now, how many times have we been "unlucky" if it wasn't for those "unlucky" games we'd be ahead of Celtic. We played very well the past 2 games and fully deserved the 6 points. The main thing now is continuing that over the next 3 games before we play Celtic.

12 Dec 2016 16:03:08
thorn the tactics and formation are not the same and we did show a change of tactics with trying long balls coming fron Wilson a lot and kicked the ball up the park at times.

I do agree with you thorn we where deserved winners and yes other teams will have chances that doesn't mean we rode our luck even in most of the games we have drew this season we have had loads more chances than the opposing team.

chances mean nothing unless converted.

I hope this can be the confidence boost the team needs and gets the doubters to stay quiet for a while.

12 Dec 2016 16:53:45
We played both teams off the park, what not to celebrate?

12 Dec 2016 16:54:46
Agree James.

But TBH Wilson is one of the few who will do that almost every game anyway, whether it's a tactic or not, not too sure.

But I agree the long ball works, only with Garner up top though. No striker like him in the league.

The Ross County home game was one of the most one sided games this season and it finished 0-0. So yes, need to convert chances and the were converted the last two games.

Think we all doubt the team after a game unless it's anything other than a convincing win though mate.

Some fans just think, "we're back in the top flight, we must be top of the top flight". Isn't as simple as that and think most fans are starting to grasp that fact.

12 Dec 2016 21:21:44
Don't think anybody expected to be top thorn mate. Think we rightly deserved to expect better than we were being served up! While I still honestly don't think Warburton the man to take us forward the fact he's at least mixed it up a bit last 2 games has done him no harm with the support so he deserves some credit for that! Happy we at last look in a better place hope we can go on the wee run the fans deserve it's been a hard slog to get to here.

13 Dec 2016 14:21:27
Agreed, bigblue Ayr.

And your right fans expected better from the team at this point and to be a little closer to the top.

But what we couldn't predict was an entire midfield being injured, Barton being Barton, Senderos playing about two games since he joined, Hill being the best signing of the lot, Hill and Garner the only players who start regularly that weren't here last season and essentially playing most games with the team that won us the championship.

It's a hard slog but I think most expected the last two games to go the other way or draws at most.

MW has given the support belief again thanks to a couple of important results.

Add consistent performances and a good January window. That should give us strong foundations to go confidently into next season.

13 Dec 2016 19:25:22
Onlyshow by your logic if u wernt "unlucky u would be ahead of Celtic".
After I stopped laffing do u even realise we have only dropped 2 points which would meanif you wernt unlucky u would need to have won EVERY game.
I don't think even the most ardent Rangers supporter would agree u deserved to have won every game if wasn't for bad luck.

13 Dec 2016 19:45:06
Missed chances are part of football but if your counting we could have scored 10 against Hertz on Saturday!

13 Dec 2016 20:02:49
I don't know how we could be lucky that they scored an offside goal.

14 Dec 2016 09:31:27
Rayman, at the time of me writing that comment Celtic were on 40 points and Rangers 32. What I was referring to when I said games we've been unlucky are the 5 we have drawn and the Aberdeen game that we lost. 4 of the drawn games we were unlucky not to have won, however scrappy they may have been. The Aberdeen game we should have walked away with a point, possibly all 3 if the referee done his job right. if "luck" had been on our side we would be on 41 points, ahead of Celtic. Again, in football you need luck.

14 Dec 2016 20:30:58
Got to disagree only show, we've not played anywhere near well enough for that! Where we should be right now no way we've played well enough to win all our games a couple of those draws could easily have been defeats n we clung on at Dundee after a great first 45 mins they pumped us 2nd half! Good going to be 2nd when we've not really been at it hopefully kick on n gee tims a game at ibrox.

14 Dec 2016 20:22:46
Thorn76,both your above posts are spot on mate and i've been saying pretty much the same as yourself, continually for weeks now. We have far too many tunnel visioned fans, who think its either black or white and never care to look at the in between!

Especially what our full football club has come through over the last 4 years you would think they'd understand but no, not them, they think we should just flick a switch and we'll be back to the pinnacle of scottish football! Wish it did but my message to them is get real, it doesn't work like that! Show a little patience and understanding to the TOTAL rebuilding job of our institution and what its going to take! Its the same on here for example with young barrie mckay. He's this, he's that etc! He needed to be dropped as he'd lost form for god's sake, that's all, it happens to every player!

He's still only 21 years old and young players are inconsistent, especially wingers in my experience of watching over the years. Barrie mckay imo can be anything he wants to be in football. He has absolutely all the talent in the world to go to the very top in football. He doesn't realise how talented and how good he actually is! The only thing that can stop young mckay reaching the top in football is barrie mckay himself (confidence in himself, because he possesses all the talent in the world)!

Its frightening to think, that mckay is still 7 years away from in footballing terms, his peak years! Some of our fans are needing to deeply think about these sort of things, instead of wanting to maul a young player of ours who only lost form. The same when they maul our club and manager as well! Yes form is temporary and class is permanent and i've certainly no doubt that young barrie mckay is CLASS!

15 Dec 2016 12:00:02
Have you ever thought of writing a romantic novel starring you and Barry McKay. with maybe a guest appearence from MOH?

11 Dec 2016 18:58:27
Was at the game yesterday best game I've been to this season the crowd were brilliant too. Great reception for joe garner also.

What areas of the team do we firstly need to strengthen now? I would say going on our recent performances a striker that can convert chances as i think we waste a lot still.

12 Dec 2016 15:02:33
I would like to see us with a quality holding midfield player and a quality box to box midfield player with both able to crunch into tackles and distribute the ball in a similar manner to Souness. Thing is that I remain confident that Rossiter will be able to play one of these roles if and when he is fit.

12 Dec 2016 15:15:33
Centre half and another winger at least.

12 Dec 2016 15:59:11
We badly need a playmaker in middle of the park someone who always wants on the ball! Weve been linked with lansbury he would be perfect but he will be in demand! Going forward rossiter will be like a new signing that would address the middle of the park! In summer i'd like a partner for wilson and a pair of fullbacks! Upfront I think garner would suit someone feeding off him, kenny could do that job if we played that system but he's getting past his best, so a younger kenny miller for me please.

12 Dec 2016 18:39:16
How many of you bears would give Miller another years contract. I would be tempted .

12 Dec 2016 20:44:52
Would definitely give him another season and unless we sign a new quality centre back I would give Hill another year as well.

13 Dec 2016 10:28:14
okay hill is one of the ones i'd say has done surprisingly well but i'd be looking fro a better faster centre back than him.
miller deserves another contract he is fitter and is one of the most versatile in our squad but would only give a 1 year deal not two.

13 Dec 2016 11:12:14
There's deserving and there's what what the club needs to do to challenge Celtic and make Champions League football and chucking sentimentality aside we need better than a Miller at 38 next year and a Hill at 39. The step up required needs a new level of quality and we have to make room for it.

13 Dec 2016 20:05:41
If we are serious about challenging Celtic then we definitely need a quality centre back that has a decent pedigree. Not a lot of them about in our price range. If we are looking at sentimentality etc., then Halliday should be no where near the team and arguably neither should Holt so we need to replace both of thee guys with quality midfield players and in terms of people that can do a job for us both on and off the park, Miller warrants another season, perhaps with a coaching role added. I would also like to see a quality left back to challenge Wallace.

14 Dec 2016 23:30:53
100% Miller should get a new deal, we would be several points worse off without him. Even at his age he is still the best player at ibrox.

14 Dec 2016 09:48:38
We need a goal scoring striker. We haven't scored anywhere near enough goals in the league and missed a load of chances on Saturday. Garner played well on Saturday however he never looked like scoring. If we ever want to do anything we need a striker creative midfielder and a no nonsense Centre half.

14 Dec 2016 17:52:48
Kfraser, some said the same about big davie weir all those years ago and look how long, and how well he performed for us. Of course we need to look for longterm replacements for both kenny miller and clint hill! In saying that i most definitely think both should be given another 1 year deal, without a shadow of a doubt!

12 Dec 2016 10:29:01
Does anyone think we should try and lure Liam Cooper away from Leeds? young lad at 25, he is 3rd choice Centreback. If he did come to us he'd no doubt be first choice. The wages could be a stumbling block but with Barton gone already and both Hill and Senderos going in the summer surely we could afford to push the boat out a bit for Cooper? Next question is what Centreback would you all bring in during the summer/ winter transfer window. We are obviously set to lose 2 centre backs so we will need to source another one.

12 Dec 2016 10:37:04
John souttar.

12 Dec 2016 11:03:04
Soutar would fit into our system but maybe not dominant or aggressive enough for fans. He would be a warburton type however don't see that happening.

12 Dec 2016 11:47:02
I like Souttar, but he has 2 and a half years left on his contract. he is a starting 11 player for Hearts too, on top of that we are one of their rivals for Second spot, they won't want to sell him to us for anything less than £1mil. Cooper on the other hand would be free.

12 Dec 2016 12:03:13
The boy cooper looks ok but I'd be more inclined to try and get someone who is over 6 ft tall. Think cooper is a bit short for central defence.

12 Dec 2016 12:46:28
Wot about Kyle Bartley?

12 Dec 2016 13:37:35
Jaws bartley is leeds main man. He won't be coming to us any time soon.

12 Dec 2016 15:47:43
What about the lads Mariappa and Espinosa who we tried to get in the summer?

Neither of them play regularly for Watford or Middlesbrough. Could get them on loan for a year or so. When we finish second we'll have a shot at European football.

If we beat Hibs in the final, think at least one of them would've come.

12 Dec 2016 16:21:07
Christoph berra! Bartley is hopeless.

12 Dec 2016 17:57:59
Bartley is at a top 6 club. Berra is at Ipswich.

12 Dec 2016 22:17:27
And your point is!? Mahrez was player of year last year but is in bottom half of prem!? Berra is one of best defenders in championship and has much more to his game than kyle bartley.

13 Dec 2016 10:32:07
id like bartley aswell.

12 Dec 2016 09:30:49
Two very good wins against our nearest rivals for 2nd place this season. Pity the Tynecastle game was such a let-down. The next test will come this Friday night away to Hamilton as this is the type of game in which we've thrown away so many points this season. We've then got ICT and St Johnstone to play before facing the dark side on Hogamanay. Let's finish the year with four wins in a row.

12 Dec 2016 00:19:26
Bears. I think that Warbs will do a fair bit of business with the same types of deals he got Rossiter Dodoo and hopefully this lad from Villa, maybe not a lot in Jan but def nxt summer think we will need to be patient but as it stands to possibly see a team with who I've mentioned plus Burton and Hardie would be worth the wait. Can def smell a Cup nxt yr. If we could only get some investment and that fat pie Ashley out we would not be fighting with one hand tied and we will prevail patience Bears.

12 Dec 2016 06:16:54
The lad from Villa is an unproven 18 year old, Dodoo has done okay but no more and Rossiter is anyone's guess and I don't think this business model should be overplayed. Rangers fans have been unbelievably patient for 4 and a half years as we claw our way back to the top and criticism when it's due is part of the picture. The fans are always honest and the club and team should know how we feel winning and losing.

12 Dec 2016 07:50:19
It's obvious that when rossiter is fit he will be an asset, dodoo is still young and has a lot of time to prove his worth.

12 Dec 2016 09:26:10
Couldn't have put it better kfraser.

12 Dec 2016 15:06:41
I am with Cee as regards Rossiter; when he is fit he will be one of the best players in the Scottish League. Personally I would like to see a couple more young players that are struggling to secure a spot in EPL Teams because of the outlandish transfers that are now standard in the EPL. If we can secure two or three quality young players on 'Bosmans' then that can only help us for the future.

13 Dec 2016 10:34:09
this business model is all we can afford to do and we need to make money in selling these players and I think they will be good for us in the second half of the season.
