Bartley is most def a footballer!. i think he will become an england international one day. the only reason he's not in the team is because boca n goian are doing so well. ally trying to fit him into midfield purely because he such a good player. im sure we all agree, he aint no cm. i think we may see a flat back 3 with whitts n wallace getting up, edu davis wylde in mid with laff n jela

watching chelsea v city, proper football, makes our game look awful, apart from the old firm game, its night and day.mores the pity.money talks

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Even the football on show at the Old Firm game can be guff at times. Both teams are no better than English Championship standard.

Agree4 Disagree2

What I saw of chelski Manchester new money was garbage. Ball never left the "middle third". You would have been much better off with Roma Juve last night mate. A decent game.

Personally I hope Edu does extend his contract and those of you that don't rate him should be as well. Common footballing sense, we signed him for £3 million, out of contract we get nothing back, out of contract at the end of the season virtually nothing back whereas on a long term deal he commands a higher fee. As the guys on the Clyde phone in said earlier he is the whipping boy for the idiot fans who need a particular player to blame and as someone said on here earlier he works hard, harder than Davis has been recently.

GovanFR

Believable11 Unbelievable12

Well thats true but you also have broadfoot,Maculloch, ortiz,Lafferty the list goes on mate??
CB67

Agree14 Disagree2

He is not out of contract at the end of the season. It is the end of next season, and I wish some of our fans would get off his back for a while.

Agree5 Disagree9

Firstly, I said I hope he extends his contract because I do rate him. Secondly, I was just giving examples of contractual issues, with only a year and a half to run he could be sold pretty cheap compared to what a four/five year deal leads to. I too wish people would get off his back.

GovanFR

Agree3 Disagree9

CB67 do you mean those players should be whipping boys or that they don't work hard? I'm not sure what your meaning.

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree1

It's not Edu's fault McCoist trys to play him in an attacking role. He was doing well a few weeks back when all he had to worry about was the defensive stuff.

Plus he played an absolutely lovely pass to Wallace on Saturday, put him clear in the penalty box, only for Wallace to put in a pish cross.

Get off the guys back, at least he never hides even when the people who are supposed to support him are on his case.

Agree4 Disagree9

18 months, 18 years or 18 minutes left on his deal... It doesn't matter. He's murder and isn't going to command anywhere near what we paid for him.

Steven.

Agree9 Disagree4

If I were Edu I would tell Ally to gtf myself. Too many numbnuts like the last poster and aggro. for nothing he has to tolerate. Rangers will be the poorer for it if he goes.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

To the person who slags of edu remember he is only as good as the formation he works in we are too defensive all the time home and away ally has to help davis he has no out ball no naismith clever player hard to mark now we rely on aluko wylde for width pace craptic hate pace we have to get at them at breezeblock superdome push whits into midfield high energy tims hate that dont isolate jelovic their defence are sharn pick any 4 out of 12 still wouldnt be any good get right in about watch the carnage i would like to wish celtic all the best for the europa game but i cant i want to witness them get no decisions and self destruct broony the loony great example of craptic captain after jarring hearts player turning to support who hate him and they cheered him mugs roll on the old firm game highland bear

Does anyone think the rumour about ally being edu's agent is true? How else would he offer him a new contract?

Rablam

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Beginning to have my doubts about Ally now. Offering Edu a new deal? WTF? And playing 3 s**t defensive midfielders at home against one of the worst teams in the league. Buck your idea's up Ally.

Agree11 Disagree4

Edu should be given a new 5 year deal! I for one love seeing the big Man pulling on the blue of rangers! It really gives you a boost knowing you only have Edu to pull those strings LOL!!

What are whyte+ally on. We've got nae money to spend on new, good players but have to extend one of our weakest players, edu, contract. Renewing his contract wonny be cheap.
Instead of keeping crap let's sell crap and get good.

Fraser

Believable24 Unbelievable6

EDU is rotten. GET HIM OUT.

Agree24 Disagree12

Get off Edu's case! FFS! Watch the highlights against Hibs on BBC, He had some cracking passes and he does this quietly every game. The problem is that people only notice when he gives the ball away and he doesn't even do that so often. He has scored so many important goals in Europe, against celtic and in the league but oh no lets pick on him and let Davis, Ortiz and the rest off with it! The role he plays is never going to pretty but ease up and get behind the whole team!
Nicko 1872

Agree12 Disagree20

So many important goals?? He's scored about 4 goals in 3 and a half years. He's pash. If anyone from Rangers actually reads this page pass this on EDU GTF, also Clubfit, Healy, Ortiz, McCulloch, Bedoya, McKay, Whittaker, Kerkar etc etc. They should be ashamed to pick up their wages. FED UP WATCHING THIS BUNCH OF TALENTLESS CRAP. Most of them don't even put in any effort.

Agree20 Disagree7

Watched the game and I think Edu was best midfielder we had. Sorry but I think Davis is going so not giving 100%. Mculloch looked much fitter, seemed to have a little more pace about him. Not that it was quick mind. All IMO of course. CheltBlue

Agree7 Disagree16

Edu is a honest big player, who def try's his best n never hides in a game, but he's just not good enough. i would move him on now n try n get some cash for him, he wont be difficult to replace

Dmrangers

Agree7 Disagree15

So are you lot happy to see Edu on the teamsheet then??

Agree7 Disagree15

Edu is the worst midfielder ever to pull on a Rangers shirt. From an honest Gers fan. The fact we won anything with him in the side is a miracle.

Agree19 Disagree9

People that criticize him are being unfair hes not any Messi but tries his best and is solid

If Edu's getting a new contract consider my season ticket cancelled and that goes for at least another 20 supporters i know. Fed up shelling out over £500 + to watch s**te like that.

Believable23 Unbelievable7

Boooooooooooooooo. we dont want edu. vote with your feet, fed up with offering new deals to s**t players. worst midfielder ever to play for rangers. taxi for edu and take clubfoot, ortiz, mcculloch, bedoya, mckay, kerkar & whittaker with you.

Agree20 Disagree5

How much of a chance have Bedoya, McKay and Kerkar had to impress you? I'm sure Edu and Whittaker were in the team that took us to the Uefa Cup final? With supporters like you who needs Celtic? Actually, come to think of it...
Nicko 1872

Agree5 Disagree16

They're s**te. Any honest Rangers fan will admit that. Try going to a game Nicko 1872 instead of watching the telly. Typical armchair supporter.

Agree15 Disagree1

I can think of one midfielder from the relatively recent pass significantly worse than Edu- Kevin Thomson- horrendous.

Similar ability to Edu, only Edu is far more likely to get you a goal, Edu isnae a sending-off just waiting to happen, nor a double cruciate sicknote waiting to happen either. Now that was an awful signing and a half. Thankfully that wee brain surgeon Strachan got us off the hook there! People that rip Edu should be careful what they wish for.

was at easter r.d.you would think it was real madrid we were playing.5 in the middle and one striker.against probably the worst team in scotland.the worst rangers team i have seen.i dont care that they are top of the league.the football is rubbish.lets be a bit more attacking minded.old bob.

Believable15 Unbelievable7

3 points is more important than anything just now bar NOTHING. It doesnt say a lot for how loyal a fan you are if u complain when the team are going thro the toughest patch in their entire history, that they are still winning but just not as pretty as you would like. Points first performances second chief.

Germinator

Germinator.points first before performances.you must be sitting on the couch watching it on the telly.go to the game and tell me you enjoy that pish.no matter what state we are in every team in scotland have money worries.so that is no excuse.even the state wee are in we are still better off than every other team bar one.5 in midfield against hibs ,dont make me laugh.old bob.

Was actually unbelievable seeing Edu, Mculloch and Bartley in midfield at the weekend. Literally all they do is look back and when one has the ball the other is shouting and pointing backwards.

With what we have right now our strongest starting 11 is
Shagger
Whitts Goian Boca Wallace
Bendicksen Davis Edu Aluko
Fleck
Jelavic

Think this would be a strong and balanced team. I'm not an edu fan but if the other 3 in midfield were pushing forward I could handle him sitting back and defending. Would also like to see Fleck play in the hole behind Jela. Been impressed by Aluko as well.

Still have the options of chucking on Mckay, Wylde or Healy if we need a change. Don't know if i've much faith in anyone else tbh. Would actually like to see Healy get a chance to play with Jela for a game or 2 but can't see Mcoist doing it so i'd be happy with starting 11 I've mentioned.

Paddy

Agree6 Disagree3

Jelavic has boosted his goal ratio with a few penalties, all Hooper's goals have came from open play

Agree3 Disagree6

Goal ratio's are goal ratio's, i dont care if its a pen, 40 yard screamer or a tap in, a goals a goal

Agree6 Disagree0

Hoopers are all tap ins from 2 yards tho ..

Agree5 Disagree0

Just of the top of my mind Hoopers goals at Ibrox and Tannadice were not exactly tap ins

Agree2 Disagree4

Alexander could easily perform at a higher level than big Lurch. Just because he saved a rubbish penalty kick doesn't make him any better a keeper!

Feel the time is right for lafferty and edu to be dropped, any thoughts?

Rablam

Believable4 Unbelievable6

The time was right about 2 seasons ago!

Agree3 Disagree4

Absolutley agree. however i would go further lafferty in particular should never have been signed. i hear the burnley director still gets a laugh about the day walter smith and rangers gave him 3.5 million for the donkey that is lafferty. i mean did walter actually see him play. and before i get your no a rangers fan etcetcetc. if he played for celtic he would be the first player the rangers fans woud slag cos he has no ability.

Agree3 Disagree3

To be fair for the amount of games Laff has played this season he has scored an ok amount. Crucial goal against the Dons, Dundee Utd, Hibs and Celtic. Getting fed up with the people who constantly give Kyle abuse even though he has scored numerous big goals for us.

Billyboy1

Agree6 Disagree2

The 3rd post was bang on. Drop Lafferty? What for Healy? I think it's time we got off the big mans back and started appreciating his goals for us. J1985

Right so you agree hes a 3.25 million pound striker. try selling him for that.

Lafferty isn't the greatest player ever but i think he is getting better without a doubt but people aren't peltering him in the last day of the season when he is scoring goals to win us the title are they no a didn't think so i don't think people should be to harsh people can say bad things about him but he has helped us big time win the title the last 3 years and knowbody can take that away from him

John Fleck is obviously not showing up very well in training or he would be in the 1st team. He is no longer a young boy with potentialabd needs to step up to the mark (which he hasnt done)
Sadly I fear he will end up another scottish footballer who has never fulfilled his potential due to attitude, workrate, commitment and love of nightlife.
he will end up another washed up Gerry Creaney or Charlie Miller. No doubt end up at Hearts, Dundee United or Aberdeen (probably all three)

Believable7 Unbelievable0

He is actually still young, he is still under 21. He should be loaned out, because I fear a Charlie Adam situation where he becomes good when he leaves us.

GovanFR

Agree3 Disagree1

The reason john fleck and other youngsters dont make it into the first team or at ibrox is down to the managers we have and had. Ally is a clone of smith where he would rather play diddies like edu, broadfoot and mcculloch than one of the younger lads. They would rather move players out of postion to accomodate players like the above 3, than playing one of the younger lads in their natural position.

As long as we have managers that do this our young lads will never get a chance and will just stagnate.

When this happens we then have fans coming on saying that this boy or that boy will not make it, when infact they never got a chance.

Agree2 Disagree2

Correct me if im wrong but hasnt mccoist played a lot of youths such as perry, bendiksen, hemmings, fleck, macmillan, mccabe all of the above have played some part of the campain wether its from the start or as a sub.
I still think these are the future of rangers and givin short spells in first team this season and then see how they do.
I do like look of bendiksen and macmillan

Bit fed up of hearing people dismissing John Fleck as a Rangers player due to him having had "too many chances". Really? Let's think about this...

He came into the team for 7 or 8 games between about January-March 2009, and was excellent, everyone raved about him. This was him at 17 and out of position. Didn't see much of him during the run in.

He apparently had a run in with McCoist before the Emirates Cup and was disciplined for it. His attitude was questioned but he started the 09-10 season in good form, played first few games and looked good still. Then again he was out of the picture for a bit, didnt play anywhere near enough games and I have no doubt this dented his confidence.

He signed his new deal, went away in the summer of 2010, got fitter, slimmer & stronger, and had an excellent pre season in Australia, then got a bad injury at Clyde. I have no doubts, and Walter said it, that he would have started last season in that 'Number 10' role. That's his best position.

Smith gave us this "we don't want to do too much at one time with him" excuse. Bullsh*t! At 17 he was playing out his skin. Rooney, Milner, Ronaldo, Walcott, Jones, Gerrard... All first team regulars in their teens, so why should we hold our youngsters back. I believe there will be a lot of regrets with the handling of Fleck.

Now really, since he came back from injury how many chances has he had? I don't class a 20 minute sub appearance every 2 months and a couple of bounce games as a proper chance.

The boy has immense ability, Durrant, Smith, McCoist, Beckham, Ferguson, Weiss... They've all raved about him. You don't get that praise if you aren't the real deal.

So my point is, why, when we are so lacking in creativity in the final 3rd, is he sitting in the stand not even stripped? They keep making noises about "getting the best from him" so it's time they did. Because it aint going to happen if he's sitting in the stands every week.

Not fair on him and it's not fair to say he isn't good enough because he hasn't had a fair crack for a prolonged run of games.

Either play him, loan him out or let him go before they ruin another talent due to not knowing where to play him.

He will end up another Charlie Adam, but better.

Steven.

Believable16 Unbelievable4

Fleck IS 19, people forget that, the person saying he should bne dropped, how can he be dropped if he is not getting picked, I agree he has not been given the same level of gametime as Lafferty or Wylde and until he does, we shouldn't judge him. Ally obviously doesn't rate him highly enough or he would have been on the bench.

Sick of people having a go at davis, now hes not playn gr8 at the moment but for the last 2 3 years hes been by far our best player and prob best player n scotland. The problem is hes havin 2 do the full creative work of 4 midfield players. Edu isnt good enough 2play a simple 1 2 with wylde has so much 2 learn i think he should be out on loan big jig did a good job at the time but hes past it now players like ortiz shouldnt be at ibrox as for fleck well hes had chances i dnt fink its ever gona happen mayb a loan for him aswell. Point is davis is the only real quality midfield player at ibrox n ppl are on here sayn get rid of him n sell him n jan ppl that are sayn this dnt have a clue wot we need is more quality 2 help the guy out hes needed it for a while now hope mayb wif bendikson n aluko he mite pick up his game coz they look better than wot we have had l8ly they both look like tidy passers get behind the team the captain n the manager

Well said bro. Davo Has, is and always will be any manager of Ranger's first pick. He is a fantastic footballer who gives everything that he has got for the team that he and we all love. I wish that some people would waken up and smell the coffee ( including our present manager ) who I have utmost respect for Bye the way. It is simple. Steve davis is a creative midfield player. He is the player who when the chips are down can get the team going and can find the killer pass to win us the game. For God's sake think back to how many times this wee guy has done it for us. He has a few games where he is not man of the match and everyone ( non Gers supporters included ) start to say that his form has dipped, he is not trying, his mind is on a big move South in January etc, etc. If the truth be told he is missing the magnificent runs that Naismith would make for him to give him another option. The whole team has suffered because Naisy is not there any more. You dont have to be a soccer pundit on allsorts of funny money to figure it out. You dont have to have been an Ex player for a big club to figure it out. You only have to know a little bit about football to know that if you have less options in front of you to find the killer pass then your job is going to become a lot harder. The whole team misses Naismith and it is not just Steve Davis that should be getting stick. Keep the faith and lets stay behind the team we all love and roar them on to 4 in a row. It is simple...... Forget about the others and think only about winning our next game. The others will come after us...We welcome the chase. WATP. The Jimster.

Pure b****cks good players don't need good players round about them, good players make average players better by making the game move from centre mid as I have said before barry ferguson dragged RANGERS through games himself at times, when was the last time you seen davis make a killer pass don't blame naismith not being in the team the 2 games aluko has played he has been ready 2 receive the ball in great positions but he doesn't get them from davis because never mind making a killer pass he can't make a 5 yard pass, & yet again SUPER ALLY couldn't trust him in a 4-4-2 away from home hence edu & mcculloch with bartley holding had 2 play in midfield & davis our blue eyed boy is moved 2 right mid & into the bargain he is a pure s**tebag when was barry ferguson ever moved for someone else 2 play centre mid answers on a postcard please
NTYABOW

Great response NTYABOW.

Davis doesn't even come close to Ferguson. Fergie always wanted the ball, never hid during games, always showed passion as a captain and had more all round ability than Davis could dream of having. The guy had to recieve injections in order to play for Rangers for about 2 seasons, wouldn't see davis show that much desire to play for his boyhood hero's would you?
I've said before, in my opinion big Lafferty has done more for Rangers overall in his time here than davis. I'll stand by that 100%. Yet the big man is a waster, a donkey, a dud.....Why does Davis avoid such critisism?

J1985 the reason he escapes critisism is I believe he is the blue eyed belfast boy & that is enough for some of our fickle fans, but I must add the game against dunfermiline I noticed he got it tight from most of the crowd as I think alot of people at IBROX have woke up & smelt the coffee as The Jimster says but in another way than he thinks, I have been saying this for 2 seasons about davis I know he can be a good player but good players do it consistently, another thing listen 2 this GAZZ & The Jimster you's both say davis is the best midfielder in scotland, f***in wow wee how hard is that never mind Barry Ferguson he could not lace Bobby Russells boots

Doesn't matter how good you are you cant make sum1 make a run u cant make sum1 play a simple 1 2 with u cant make sum1 create space for u u need players 2 do that for themselves!! i never said anything about Barry back pass he was a gr8 player for rangers i was 1 of his biggest fans, wot im sayn is Davis IS our best midfielder and is goin through a sticky patch the fans need 2 get behind him not come on here and spout s**te like get him sold n hes pish! i fink for the fact that hes done so well over the last 3 years he deserves a bit of loyalty fae us. anyway glad 2 be talkn bout football for a change on here eh

@GAZZ, I'm a referee on the National List in England, Scottish through and through. I play when I'm not reffing, even though I'm well into my forties, and I take football training with my wee lad and the other kids where I live on a Sunday morning. Trying to teach them exactly what you say; look for the runs, look for the passes into space, make the ball your friend, be comfortable with the ball at your feet, all the basics which I feel are being lost on some people in the game these days. Our team at the moment is the best we can afford, in the future it may be better. I for one hope so.
