Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

11 Feb 2020 22:14:15
Just watched the open training n just noticed it's on astro turf so how come it's a problem when we get beat by teams who have astro turf now I think there's no excuses.

11 Feb 2020 22:48:27
Firstly it's a different quality - ie ours is much better. Secondly doing some training on astro is fine but sprinting full out and coming together with players tackling and fighting for the ball is another thing all together. It's not an excuse. We should be beating Killie but it is a bit of a leveller and if you have players carrying knocks to knees and ankles it can be a risk to further injuries.

12 Feb 2020 00:15:20
Never even liked training on it when I played, murder on knees n ankles.

12 Feb 2020 01:27:19
Ayr ranger ours is not any better quality. Its 4g same as other sides in spfl and montrose, forfar etc.

12 Feb 2020 06:57:54
Dodger wave not been beaten this year on astro.

12 Feb 2020 08:29:35
I couldn't play on it at end up, reason I stopped playing at 30 to many teams turning to it and training on it, done my knee ligaments on it at 28 and when I came back took me longer to recover after each game played on astro in the end I was only in squad for games on grass pitches.

12 Feb 2020 09:42:38
The quality of these pitches have undoubtedly improved but they should not be used for professional football other than as an alternative to train on if weather rules grass pitches out. I still play on them but after the game every joint in my body is in agony.

12 Feb 2020 10:44:40
Better players should always win out in the end. No excuses!

12 Feb 2020 11:55:20
Jzer. is that you joso.

12 Feb 2020 12:50:57
Hamilton pitch is 3G standard.

12 Feb 2020 13:35:14
Played 5 a sides till my mid 40's on astro pitches at Broadwood. Could hardly get out of bed in the morning after an hour session. Never had that after a game on grass.

12 Feb 2020 17:14:27
I'd agree with that, have played, and still do, on grass, 3G and 4G. Much prefer grass, 3G is murder, 4G is bit better.

11 Feb 2020 19:53:12
Sitting here watching the Sheep at Accies, and there must be about 1000 at the match
Still amazes me that the Sheep&Accies have Adidas as shirt makers and we have Hummel?

11 Feb 2020 20:36:17
After all their proper kit deals adidas probably realised they had a spare fifty quid and chucked it that way.

11 Feb 2020 20:39:17
Sky sports calling it new Douglas park. They are so poor towards scottish football, BT should have got the rights.

11 Feb 2020 21:05:26
Isn't that the name of it?

11 Feb 2020 22:49:09
Fountain of youth stadium!

11 Feb 2020 23:58:22
Yately1,as you know mate regarding kit manufacturers its about the money. Hummel give rangers a helluva lot more money than adidas give either aberdeen or hamilton accies.
I honestly don't care who makes our rangers kits, as long as we get the best deal available to us mate! šŸ‘ Its all about which sportswear manufacturer puts the best deal on the table for us that counts as far as i'm concerned.

12 Feb 2020 01:28:16
Sgl correct who cares who makes it all about who gives us most money.

12 Feb 2020 07:02:57
And who do you think will come forward for next season SGL?

12 Feb 2020 11:49:01
Thatā€™s the whole point, only small outfits are bidding to make our strips. The big guys donā€™t want nothing to do with us because of Ashley. When Nike and Adidas had our rights you could buy our strip all over Europe. Trying to get kit from Hummel is dreadful šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ We could possibly go into next season with no supplier šŸ˜”.

12 Feb 2020 12:40:14
BBC during the BFC v Hibs cup tie repeatedly calling Alloa, s ground the Rec, s instead of the Indodrill stadium, bet the sponsors wern, t happy.

12 Feb 2020 13:26:15
Totally agree Marco, they donā€™t give a monkeys about our games, just the 4 between Celtic and Rangers, BT has better coverage all round, actually know what they are talking about, banter is better also between McCoist, Strachan, Sutton etc, Iā€™d rather take a cheese grater to my nads than have to listen to Boyd, Walker, Commons and Provan for the next 4 yrs šŸ‘.

12 Feb 2020 13:29:19
We have another year left to run with hummel mate. I would now expect us to fullfil the hummel deal until the end of the contract ie. season 2020/ 2021!Then the negotiations for an extended contract with hummel or a new kit manufacturer altogether will begin. Again its about with sportswear firm offers us the most money, over the duration of the contract.

12 Feb 2020 13:37:54
IOM makes an appearance and comes across like The Grim Reaper. Anything positive to report IOM?

13 Feb 2020 07:31:17
I think now yately1, that hummel will be making our kits for next season pal, which is potentially their last season with us, as well as our last season with shirt sponsors 32Red. I agree with you regarding hummel will need to understand if they want to remain rangers kit manufacturers.

then they have to cope with the demand of all our supporters! Hummel have made some cracking designs over our 2 years with them, as well as a broad range of cracking training gear, but must realise the size of our club and make more than enough.

If they can keep up with our demand,
then i personally would have no problem remaining with them,
especially so if they offer the most money! Thoughts on this?

13 Feb 2020 09:21:16
Keep your bedroom secrets to yourself Bhoywonder! šŸ‘šŸ˜³šŸ¤£.

11 Feb 2020 18:50:04
Good evening guys

How we all feeling about tomorrow night
Any thoughts on what the team selection tomorrow night

Would anyone have Morelos and kamberi upfront would really like to see it myself

2nd half of both pre ious two games we were looking like getting back to the form urgency intensity we were showing before winter break

Posted other day I thought with how progress is going from winter break we might not see the team playing our full potential until after the braga game

Changing my mind I think we might do it tomorrow night Not knowing what the team or formation he might play

But my gut feeling is no matter what we're going into be in for a really entertaining game tomorrow night with our players showing hunger and flair and I think we might win the game by 3 goals
Morelos being on the scoresheet

Anyway here hoping lol

Looking forward to it šŸ˜Š.

11 Feb 2020 20:10:28
Doubt we'll play 2 up front, am sure kamberi will get some game time though.

11 Feb 2020 20:38:23
I would go 2 upfront stig. Why not?
Change it up a little. Would start Stewart as he's used to this pitch. Doubt BB will make it. Do we have anyone else we can play at LB except Halliday?

Greggs

Tav edumusson Goldson BB

Kent airfield Jack Hadgi

Morelos kamberi.

11 Feb 2020 21:06:36
We've tried 2 up front before and we struggled with the formation.

11 Feb 2020 21:11:17
Jack fit enough to play tomorrow night?

11 Feb 2020 21:26:38
Kilmarnock are no mugs. Your team looks a bit too attacking and out of possession we would struggle and probably get caught on the break every 5 minutes.

Macgregor
Tav Goldson Edmunson Borna
Arfield Jack Kamara
Haji Morelos Kent

If BB is out, would we try a back 3? Prob not

Macgregor
Goldson Katic Edmunson
Tav Jack Arfield Kamara Kent
Haji
Morelos.

11 Feb 2020 21:27:27
Just hope we win and no injuries, 2 games on plastic 1 after the other, we are not renowned for playing well on plastic!

11 Feb 2020 22:14:16
@Sothend Rangers. Well it's worth a try. We isolate Morelos too much imo. I think if we got more support to him he would get even more goals. Why not attack them. No disrespect but their not Barcelona.

11 Feb 2020 23:24:54
Yeah I hope itā€™s a attacking formation and like I say would like to see us use two upfront
Kamberi looks to have a lot of pace and seems to know where the goal is

We definitely have the players to go out keep possession and attack and I think now Stevie has had long enough to put some attacking formations together players all have had enough time playing with one another all being hagi and kamberi but think there good enough to slot into an attacking formation and have a right good go at them tomorrow night
Like I say I feel we will win the match by atleast 3

Could be wishful thinking - but have a gut feeling and thatā€™s what Iā€™m sticking with šŸ˜Š.

11 Feb 2020 23:42:30
Great post Stig. Totally agree.

12 Feb 2020 00:17:37
Thought edmundson was really really shaky at weekend. Got far too square on for there goal. i'd Probably have katic bsck in.

12 Feb 2020 01:30:04
Tbjj is davis injured? Surely he plays b4 Kamara. Apart from that its prob team i would go with.

12 Feb 2020 17:56:55
We need to manage the wizards legs, he's not been playing great.

11 Feb 2020 18:39:01
Rangers youths against Atletico Madrid youths 1pm KO at Firhill tomorrow. Ā£5 for adults Ā£3 for kids. Should be a good game and a good chance to see some first team players of the future. A few players i'm excited to go watch. Coombes and Mebude in particular.

11 Feb 2020 18:56:39
Actually sounds like it will be a good game and good to watch
If I had he chance I would definitely go along to watch

If you can come back on tomorrow night and let us know how it went how the boys played would be appreciated šŸ‘.

11 Feb 2020 19:22:46
Wish I could get to it but night shift all week.

11 Feb 2020 19:36:19
Not a problem stigno. Match report will be provided in due coursešŸ‘.

11 Feb 2020 20:44:48
Will be there, then will head to Killie.

11 Feb 2020 23:14:46
For those who can't make it, it's live on BT Sport 2 at 1pm and the big boys are on BT Sport 1 at night.

11 Feb 2020 23:40:07
Would like to have seen this but work forbids.

Hopefully there's a few prospects on show for us. Was incidentally just reading about Billy Gilmour moving up into Chelsea's first team squad. Always knew he was a player but I wish we could have got more money for the lad. Still, well done to him.

11 Feb 2020 16:45:49
This site used to be very entertaining about Rangers fans talking about football matters before the winter break.

Since then not much going on - have I missed something boys?

11 Feb 2020 17:01:41
It's going to get back to that now Stubbs, Killie tomorrow, wait for it.

11 Feb 2020 17:10:58
You missed a great game of hide and seek that started on the 29th December!
There are still some folk missing though? Glad you could come out from under your rock and say hi.

11 Feb 2020 17:24:31
Should have went to the "Celtic Post" not the "Banter" one!

11 Feb 2020 17:38:44
Be a tough game for you at Killie Bluebilly but you might just edge it.

87henderson - nice of you to stay classy with the rock comment son - courtesy costs nothing you know. Listen, as far as hide and seek champions are concerned let me tell you that I retired one of your keyboard warriors after the last cup final. It was the last time I posted on your sites (I did not come on here to gloat after we stole it) . I had a gentleman's agreement that whoever won the cup final the loser would be on here to congratulate the other team. Since then nothing so the gold laurel for that belongs to one of your own mate.

11 Feb 2020 19:06:17
Is there a reason why your on a Rangers forum lol

I had a mate who used to be a Celtic fan and turned into a Rangers fan
Never a true fan - but could possibly see you doing this or maybe you are and thatā€™s why your in our site lol

No offence - but welcome the Rangers forum šŸ˜‰

On a more serious note hope your old captain makes a quick and swift recovery
Had a friend who died of this in his early thirties

Football aside but you never know the minute something like this can happen or anything else
So best wishes Jackie and his family and like I say hope a swift a speedy recovery.

11 Feb 2020 19:41:27
A Celtic fan on a Rangers website taking the moral high ground a day after a 12 year old was charged with shouting racial abuse at a Rangers player!

I really have seen it all now son!

11 Feb 2020 20:56:48
Thestigno1 - If I was to become a Rangers fan my Father and sister would think it was Christmas come early! I have a friend who went from diehard Hearts to diehard Aberdeen so go figure!

Thanks for your sentiments about Jackie - and all other fans who have done such - we stand together at such moments (well almost everyone! ) .

As I said it is about 3 months since I last posted and this post was not intended for the banter page. The Rumours and Banter pages should be the preserve of you guys - but the Celtic Posts is another matter - as the name Implies. Unless I miss my guess? On that page the Rangers fans were giving it the Big'Un (and why not as you had a game in hand and only 2 behind) but the dynamics have changed somewhat along with the "chat".

Why am I on the Rangers site - well actually I intended to ask for help from you guys! Not psychiatric before one of you jumps in!

I was in the attic and came across an item of historic (Rangers/ Scotland) football iconography that I had not seen in years and was going to canvass you guys if you had been to the Ibrox/ Hampden museums. Never having been I would have no idea of what is contained in either!

87henderson - you're spoiling for a fight - put your toys back in the pram. I can only take the moral high ground for myself and not a team. Guys like you give me the boak using the actions of a silly 12 year old boy to further your agenda. Is he a plum - yes. Are there plums in all teams supports - yes. Calling each other out for the actions of a few is ridiculous. Now if you want to continue with your diatribe please go for it. There are many right minded and balanced Rangers fans, if you think you are one of them then step away.

11 Feb 2020 22:24:46
Hi stubbsieshorse

What is it that you came across - donā€™t think you mentioned in your post
Never been too the Hampden museum myself
Been plenty to Ibrox and done tours of the stadium and such
But interested to know what it is you found

Chat definitely changed since winter break - Iā€™ll be honest god knows what happened once again during winter break
We have dropped away again but hoping we are now getting back into the swing of things and hoping tomorrow night will see my team play well na spit a few goals away against Kilmarnock and get the confidence going again in time for Europe game etc

Tour team playing well and have to admit you have a better depth to your team than we do at the moment but you have had a few years now while we weā€™re out the top flight to win league easily and get the champions league and Europe games money in the bank and not having to spend much
Think since Stevie has came in, our board have put up as much as they can to support him and I definitely salute them for it as long as itā€™s not more then we can afford since thatā€™s a lot to do with what put us in the position we were in there for past few years

Anyway from my point of view along with the rest of the Rangers fans on here hopefully tomorrow night puts us back on track and hoping Your team have a little bad spell like weā€™ve just had lol
And hopefully we can win the remaining old firm games that may make break each sides chances of winning the league šŸ˜Š šŸ‘.

12 Feb 2020 00:41:23
Thestigno1 - I said before we lost at Parkhead that I was enjoying the challenge this year. And a few other fans of Celtic have admitted as much as well. Winning the league at a procession is not good for anyone and certainly does not excite as much as a close run thing. having said that I feel Rangers will come up short this year too for the reason you mentioned - but I would say that!

When I was a wee lad my dad brought home a Scotland football top - . It was from 1967 when Scotland became unofficial world champions remember. To cut a long story short (ha! ) my dad was a bouncer at some unsavoury night clubs in Edinburgh run by a famous/ infamous gangster in the 60's (name can be supplied! ) . One of the clubs was a gambling joint and a certain Rangers player who had a problem with gambling couldn't pay his debts so he gave this shirt in lieu of part of his debt.

Now this gangster gave it to a fellow bouncer as he was a Gers fan (name can be supplied! ) . Now my father was/ is a big Rangers fan too and indeed he had served with this gambler in the Black Watch, played in the same team as the gambler in the Army and knew him well. So the my father was given the shirt by his friend - I don't think they put the same store on memorabilia as we do now.

So I think by now you might have joined up the dots about what shirt number it is and who wore it on that day and of the great game he had that day taking the total P**h outa the English.
I know they only issued that type/ style of shirt for a few games before changing it so there could not have been more than say half a dozen in existence.

As a kid I would wear it everywhere and even boiled it once to clean it which resulted in the blue dye running onto the white six etc. Also pinned it to my wall so it has holes in the sleeves etc.! There is a show on TV called The Repair Shop and they fix artefacts and I was thinking of going to apply for it with this item. I can come up with a better back story than I have expressed here!

I was wondering though if there were any other shirts kicking around claiming to be the same before I applied. I believe my story is water tight as VERBAL provenance as the man himself told my father of the great day after he learned my father had ended up with it - he didn't seem particularly bothered that he had given it away at all - must have been some debt! That is where the Museums come in and if any of you have any knowledge on the subject.

Now I really don't have a clue what I would do with the thing if / after I got on the show but I feel I should at least try to get my story straight first.
I would be grateful if you could put the word round if you ever visit the museum again or canvass the guys on this site etc. I feel that this post is probably way down the list now to be viewed by many.
Thoughts?

12 Feb 2020 08:09:07
Wow wouldā€™ve interesting to know how much it would be worth imagine a fair bit of it was proven to be the official top wore by Baxter

Never heard of the show before
Will have a look now though

How much repairing does the top need now?

If was the official top and worth a lot would you sell it or would you keep it

I think I would keep it
But great back ground story on how you ended up with it šŸ˜Š
One too keep us posted on if you get any further with it.

12 Feb 2020 13:31:08
I think its historic worth is more important than its financial worth to be honest. I am sure there would be a market for it to the right person/ organisation.

Like I say I am not sure what I would do with it - probably enjoy it for a while and then possibly donate it to a good home where it belongs - Ibrox/ Hampden. ASSUMING they don't have one already! Hence my request for help. I think it would look great in your museum as a tribute to one of your greats.

Can you do me a favour? if you or someone else you know goes to the museum can you ask on my behalf at all?

Damage - All the stitching is great and there are no rips/ tears/ fraying. Like I say I boiled it as a boy and the blue dye has come out the heavy wool (?) and slightly tinged the white collar/ cuffs/ number 6 and the whites on the badge. I believe it is not too difficult to remove that with the right solutions.

Of slightly greater concern is a few holes in the cuffs / collar. shoulder - maybe 6 or 8 of those where I tacked and stretched it to my wall - my brother and I thought it looked ace! I am sure there are specialists that could patch these up without it showing. Hence the show The Repair Shop - BBC 1, I think.

The maker UMBRO - has made them of great quality though and I can see how players may have struggled in them when they got wet as they would have been heavy.

I wish I could/ knew how to upload a picture of it on here.

Like I say - I think this thread is too far down now to get read by many so I might try again another time to get it to the top.

Anyway - good luck (but not too much! ) today.

11 Feb 2020 14:47:37
First time poster.
Delighted to see our club calling out the gutter press. particularly the bbc (bigoted biased club) and it just shows by the lack of reporting of our statement that they all know that they are guilty as charged and are self preserving now. Scummy Scottish press!

11 Feb 2020 15:24:44
They have all been rather quiet.

11 Feb 2020 09:41:46
What has happened to Jacke McNamara just makes one realise that football is at the end of the day just a game. People's lives and families are far more important than that. My wife had a mini-stroke out of the blue just before Christmas. It makes you really focus on what is important. Let's enjoy the football but get rid of the bitterness and nastiness. Hope Jackie recovers fully.

{Ed033's Note - They couldn't beat the Scottish people physically in a fight because the Scottish people are too physically tough, so they have to beat the Scottish people mentally using Jedi Mind Tricks. It's called 'Divide and Conquer'. In order to conquer Glasgow, all they had to do is create 2 opposing football teams and let the Glasgow people fight amongst themselves.

11 Feb 2020 10:47:40
What an odd post!?

11 Feb 2020 10:21:36
Your just about right Ed033 but more importantly they invented buckfast which is far more effective.

{Ed033's Note - Yes, but at least I got your attention

11 Feb 2020 11:07:41
I take it your not from Glasgow Ed?

{Ed033's Note - no, but that doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m incorrect about the Divide and Conquer part

11 Feb 2020 11:42:25
Hi again Ed033, take it you are not really familiar wi the Rangers Celtic Hibs scenario .

Celtic an Hibs were formed by catholic priests to contest the dominence of protestant Rangers FC of the time.

{Ed033's Note - Iā€™m aware of it. Why do they take all these childrenā€™s games and put money into turning them into large time consuming adversarial events? Money, you might say, but Iā€™m talking about the bigger picture. Some of you know that our conspiracy site shows the bigger picture.

11 Feb 2020 13:05:36
Bluebilly, your actually wrong, as Rangers were not tied to anything, and were simply a sporting athletic club, it was only after Celtic were formed that the current blue side of Northern Ireland (who the majority worked in the shipyards started to follow rangers)

11 Feb 2020 14:06:44
Further comment johnjohn :- It's great to be corrected by other posters without being humiliated to high heaven for not being up to date on the facts.

Thanks for that mate no matter if your from the dark side or not and I mean that.

11 Feb 2020 13:54:08
Thanks for that johnjohn, always happy to be kept up to date.

However, I am 100% certain Celt and Hibs were formed by catholic priests tho and nothing will change the sectarianism that caused.
I don't believe that it will ever die as it's passed on generation to generation by each religious sect.

ps:- personally I could not care less the religious preference by these three clubs as I was brought up church o Scotland and went to a protestant school (now classed as non denominational) .

I have loads of catholic friends who like I am a staunch Rangers supporter they are of celtic but we still have harmless banter and jibes with each other.

11 Feb 2020 14:24:42
Despite the Ed's bizarre reply to the heartfelt original post taking the comments in a strange direction, I would also like to wish Jackie and his family all the best in which is undoubtedly horrible time for them.

11 Feb 2020 14:32:59
It's true. Hibs then Celtic brought religion into Scottish football.

11 Feb 2020 14:53:33
Bluebilly, for once ime in complete agreemet with your reply above, pal.

11 Feb 2020 14:59:30
Ed already said it was to get our attention Only_a_game.

It is a banter page after all.

We all wish McNamara a speedy recovery tho.

11 Feb 2020 16:11:44
Bluebilly, Hibs were not formed by priests, but by the Irish catholic community, thus becoming the first club in Scotland founded on sectarian principles. Celtic were founded by a Marist priest called Walfrid, ostensibly to raise money to aid the local Irish catholic poor, but were quickly taken over by other elements. They stole all the best catholic players from other clubs, including Hibs, to try to achieve some kind of prominence in the game.

They were openly sectarian, and even had a former IRA man lay a sod of Irish turf at their new Parkhead ground. All this time Rangers were an enthusiastic amateur team, founded by kids and open to all. Indeed, it has been said that if Queens Park had embraced the new professionalism at the time, they would have been the obvious team for Protestants to follow. However, as the years passed and Ulster workers came to Glasgow to work in the shipyards, they gave their allegiance to Rangers along with the many thousands of locals who found the encroachment of Irish republicanism into the game objectionable.

11 Feb 2020 16:21:36
My late dad told me in his time following football, hibs were classed for a spell as a masonic team.

11 Feb 2020 16:36:06
SGL
My father, dead a while now, said the same and that there was a time the Board considered changing the name to Edinburgh City in 1940's -50's.

Dundee Harp / Hibernian -later United also had a significant role in polarizing the football public.

11 Feb 2020 16:59:42
Just before this topic is closed and we get back to the football side I would just like to say.

Of all my mates and workmates who are football supporters of Rangers and Celts every catholic is a celts supporter none are Rangers supporters.

On the other hand any of them who are prody some say they support celts with no reason other than they say they are a winning club.

11 Feb 2020 17:05:13
Don't understand 'masonic' team. Did it mean players, fans, directors? Or just that they attracted a bit of support from a few local 'Proddies'? I've never come across that before, but it is certain that they were the first Scottish club founded on purely sectarian principles.

11 Feb 2020 17:28:33
I know 3 (off the top of my head) Catholic Rangers supporters, one with a season ticket in the Copland.

11 Feb 2020 17:47:38
Celtic ruined Scottish football by bringing religion into it. šŸ‘.

11 Feb 2020 17:48:27
my god you people don't even get what the ed was saying, are you really that naive, hahhaha they brought sectarianism into the game we are so good, you are like children and not the geeks.

11 Feb 2020 18:50:04
I thought Celtic were just Hibs hiding behind their believe hoops. Lol.

11 Feb 2020 23:23:08
Swagman, I am happy that you know 3 catholic Rangers fans. In 68 years of following the club I have met none.

12 Feb 2020 13:27:38
That says more about your club than anything.

11 Feb 2020 09:43:37
A lot of us seemingly are fans of greg docherty, so i would be very grateful if you could run a poll for me ED? The poll being would us rangers supporters prefer to keep greg docherty or sign lewis ferguson from aberdeen? Who do we rate the better midfielder between the two? Cheers ED,
would be much appreciated pal!

{Ed033's Note -

docherty or ferguson poll

11 Feb 2020 10:54:37
Said it from day one. Docherty all day long. He would have thrived in recent games when Jack has been out. Box to box and knows where the goal is.

11 Feb 2020 10:26:50
What about a neither option being good enough for Rangers?

11 Feb 2020 11:23:51
Someone speaking absolute sense agent ghost.

11 Feb 2020 11:50:44
Totally agree with Agent Ghost. None of them are good enough.

Docherty never was good enough when we signed him in the first place and Ferguson should be a million times better than he is considering his bloodline.

11 Feb 2020 14:07:02
I like Docherty but not the standard we require to win the league.

11 Feb 2020 14:44:46
Spurious 'poll' again, coops, the real issue is that neither of them are good enough to play for us, neither would take us forward.

11 Feb 2020 20:40:10
@john25 Neither is Ojo and Barker. What's their excuse?

12 Feb 2020 11:21:58
Ojo will leave in may, Barker needs to be moved on, god knows how Allen gave him three year deal.
We need five players better than what we have, to play regular, not be squad players
Although interested to see we r trying to extend alfs deal again.

11 Feb 2020 09:17:30
Jamie Murphy having a great start to life at Burton Albion. Would absolutely love for someone to explain to me how Barker, Ojo or Jones are better than this guy?

11 Feb 2020 10:16:07
I always liked Murphy, he was great before his bad injury, maybe just needed game time?

11 Feb 2020 10:56:22
Totally agree with you both. Out of contract in May and wonder if we will keep him? Presumably free to talk to other clubs. Would rather a fit Murphy than Ojo or Barker any day. Hope the latter two leave in the summer. We mustnā€™t even consider a permanent move for Ojo.

11 Feb 2020 10:29:24
He's absolutely tearing up League 1šŸ¤£
And as Mrgrumpy says, after a long lay off he needs game timešŸ‘
Is that a good enough explanation?

11 Feb 2020 11:18:34
Yeah i prefer murphy 100% over barker and ojo.

11 Feb 2020 11:42:56
Always like Murphy but I don't think SG does. Would have been a good option. with Ojo there is something missing. Barker is beyond me. Waste of a wage.

11 Feb 2020 11:49:30
Ibrox, I'm sure his contract ends in 2021.

11 Feb 2020 12:08:45
If he needs game time and weā€™re then bringing him back, fine. If not, then I think thatā€™s a mistake as Iā€™ve said above heā€™s better than the 3 weā€™ve got warming the bench.

Not sure the hilarity at ā€œtearing up League 1?ā€

Most English league 1 sides have more money and better players than at least half the SPL. SPL teams are losing players they want to keep to League 2!

11 Feb 2020 13:00:46
Swagman!
Yesterday you said Aberdeen could hold their own in the EPL as they did not too badly against Burnley in the Europa League about a thread about EPL teams winning our SPFL.
To suit your argument about Murphy, you are now bigging up League 1.

P.S. I like Murphy. But he needs game time. Not a 10 - 15min cameo role from the bench. Hopefully if he has a year left like someone has said he can come back ready for next season.

11 Feb 2020 14:29:17
Donā€™t tell lies, I absolutely did not say anywhere Aberdeen could hold their own in the EPL. I said they gave Burnley a good game over two legs a couple of years ago which is a fact. Aberdeen would finish dead last in the EPL, probably in the Championship too. They could just about compete in League 1.

What I said was that middling EPL teams wouldnā€™t walk over Rangers or Celtic. I did say they would at least be competing for 3rd. So any EPL team would be at least the 3rd best team in Scotland.

Now onto League 1 - the salaries in that division outstrip everyone in Scotland bar the Old Firm. Aberdeen lost Rooney to Salford in League 2. Many Scottish clubs have come out and said they canā€™t compete with the English League 1.

So aye, both my points stand separately and together.

11 Feb 2020 14:45:55
Marco c, you beat me to it mate, i also think murph has another year to go, on contract.

11 Feb 2020 16:04:20
He's 'tearing up' a third tier league that includes Accrington, Wycombe, Fleetwood, Gillingham, Lincoln and other giants of the game. He's played four games! Come on guys, he's a 30 year old journeyman who won't be back in a blue jersey. However, Barker and Ojo are no better. I also find it strange, swagman, that you seem to equate 'competing' with money.

11 Feb 2020 17:29:50
Iā€™m not equating competing with money, but it would be stupid to say money doesnā€™t help you compete. Otherwise why are the Old Firm so far ahead of the rest of Scotland? Because we pay the biggest wages.

11 Feb 2020 17:46:11
So they can pay more money - big deal. The standard is terrible!
So an Aberdeen side that constantly troubles Rangers is League 1 standard but we are top 8 in the EPL? šŸ¤”
That's some gulf in class šŸ¤£.

11 Feb 2020 06:13:37
Dont know wether you guys will think i'm deluded or not but just had a look through the teams left in the europa and i must say we might have a chance of winning this if we play the way we know we can. let's see

Man u - piss poor this season
Arsenal - been missing all season
Wolves - beatable even on a bad day
Porto - beaten them already
Celtic - stroll in the park (sunday team)

Thats just a few teams and obv my opinion but have a look at the teams. sure some of them will give us a game but when you look at the teams remaining and think that man u or arsenal are the ones to be most worried about then i think we do have a chance. my wish is to see rangers win a treble this year. the league cups gone so that leaves the league. scottish cup and europa. so get on it rangers.

11 Feb 2020 09:07:02
I admire your positivity and enthusiasm iggle - but seriously? we have recently struggled against VEERY poor opposition and don't seem to be setting the heather alight!

11 Feb 2020 09:36:46
Well Iggle, I put Ā£5 on Rangers at 80/ 1 to win the Europa League at the start of the season, mainly for a laugh. However, if we beat Braga then who knows? However, you've omitted to mention Inter Milan, Ajax, Seville and Roma, to name but another four!

11 Feb 2020 10:17:00
Behave igglešŸ˜.

11 Feb 2020 10:29:38
BAR72 is right iggle already been beat wi hearts drew wi dons, not setting the heather on fire just now is an understatement tho.

Lets hope we can gub killie tomorrow a draw no use to us if we want the league THIS season.

11 Feb 2020 10:48:54
Ofc your deluded your a rangers fan if you listen to the unwashed, we want to win every competition we are in and we have to hope we can, will we prob not but while we are in it, you just never know.

11 Feb 2020 11:20:14
Lets try get passed braga 1st. They ate playing out there skin at the moment and went un defeated in group stage with wolves in it. Even if we get passed braga yeah were no going to win it.

11 Feb 2020 12:09:20
Ajax would absolutely mollify us.

11 Feb 2020 13:10:30
Nothing to say we can't go all the way or at least go on a run, what we have to do is beat Braga, hope for a favourable draw not only for us but maybe inter v Ajax so that the draw has a chance to open out. A lot of the teams left will be no more tricky than the group stage games.

11 Feb 2020 13:16:45
This is the attitude that comes back to bite us we are a decent team our starting eleven if fit and all on form can match anyone in Scotland look at Celtic park but we donā€™t have strength in dept look at us over the last few weeks we have struggled when minus a few players we have no chance of winning it we have done great getting this far Braga will be a really tough game I think with the finances we have Gerrard has done a great job so far but we still need to strengthen our team to compete and Iā€™m just not to sure we have the money the board have been great so far but itā€™s not endless.
