How long has mccoist left on his contract?

A posted yesterday stating that I wasn't happy with a few things in terms of the midfield and right back and mcCoist, but am on to b defiant now! We'll win that league no problem, hearts r getting praise and rightly so for coming to Ibrox and going away with 3 points, cool, fair enough to them, but so what? First game of the season in the league, we'll bounce back come Friday night, we where the better team, had the better chances, plus had the most corners and free kicks, and I no that the result is the only thing that counts, but it was a one off result, I guarantee we'll win that league with 10 to 15 points.

Is it not a rolling year?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 21:28:30
It's a rolling year contract I believe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, rolling year contract. So to sack him they would presumably need to pay him a year's wages or come to some form of mutually agreeable compensation deal. However I'm sure his lawyers would also negotiate in all the deferred wages too, so you can see why it would be pretty pricey to sack him.

The thinly-veiled sub-text of the weekend's Rangers coverage is that there is now full on corporate civil war at Ibrox. Until this is resolved the poison drained, and benign and an honourable new regime in place, it is pointless to call for McCoist's removal. In any other business or football club, he would of course have been sacked at least two years ago - his managerial incompetence will sadly supplant his striker legend - but I fear he is still untouchable. Firstly, the present Board of spivs and charlatand have no money for a big compensation package, but more crucially they cannot afford to buy his silence with a complex confidentiality agreement. Ally knows chapter and verse where the bodies are buried over the last disastrous three years. He probably has several books in it and remember, while he is a hopeless soccer manager, he is a wonderful raconteur in word and on screen. The man is sitting on a publishing goldmine and he knows it. This is a big worldwide story and he will not easily "walk away" from the rights to it.
Until the Rangers Revolution comes, with false prophets replaced by either fan power or trustworthy investors, we will just have to grin and bear the ugly mess on the park that shames our great club. Deeply sad to support the season ticket boycott and the atrocious gates to come, but we will not have change without sacrifice and this discredited Board only understands a language that speaks to their pockets.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice post SLB, spot on. I hated the sight of Boyd in a Rangers jersey before he left to be found out big time at several clubs. Hearts seem to have put together a good little team full of energy and drive which makes our attempts at building a side all the more laughable even Walter Smith found Rangers difficult to watch. We are caught in a recurring nightmare of dross football and boardroom incompetence, I just don't know what the next move will be.

Agree0 Disagree0

SLB that's a bit far fetched to say the least!

Great post mate. what a situation to be in. we can't sack our manager because we can't afford to. surely he has people who watch sites like this and listen to radio stations and tell him what the majority of fans think of him as a manager. its getting to the stage I'm really going off him as a person now. he has bled our club for millions over the last 3years. what annoys me is reporters and his followers have said he has done what has been asked of him. he has won two successive league titles. there are junior managers out there that could have done that. unfortunaltly senior lb you are spot on. to get change we need to vote with our feet. gutted!!

So according to a newspaper things are not as rosey between ally & Wallace apparently ally was told there was 1mil to spend on transfers outwith the wages budget on hearing this ally asked them to spend it on Steve may from st. j its not known if Wallace made an approach but may left the other day for 800,000 now I've been Allys strongest supporter on here but surely if things are lost between manager & board then he should walk as the players must be feeling the pressure between them hence poor displays. please post ed.

Finally ally's favourite son returns from the dark side and removed his head from his back side, plus did read report and ally
Stated his players were spooked, he blames everything else. But it was my fault we lost that 2nd goal, see I sneezed too loud which spooked the players more.

Sorry ally I take all the blame for the loss you did all you could.

Ally why buy Steve May when you already have Boyd miller Clark and daly. time to bite the bullet and walk away. I think your starting to lose the dressing room

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 14:36:59
OP maybe Ally's rallying call to the troops- we don't do walking away might prevent him doing this?
Maybe he feels he must see the job through even though conditions are not ideal?
If he left now a la Paul LeGuen saving the club a fortune in severance money I'M sure his legendary status would be assured.
But it might be his own words more than anything else that is delaying this action?

Agree0 Disagree0

2) and you can add McKay, Gallacher and Shiels to that list. If Ally thinks we need another striker, then I'm afraid our club need a new manager, and sooner rather than later.

@ 2 I'm assuming it was b4 boyd or miller was signed . @1 I still think if he stays he will take us back to top division by winning the championship point I was making if there is a fall out with the board & manager somethings got to give and let's face it the boards going nowhere soon .

As much as I love super ally it's time for him to go as we haven't played any decent football under the current regime we have to act now rather than later, do the decent thing ally

Lets see I'll tell you why we need a new striker in 6 points,
1. Daly is utter mince, slower than slow and old.
2. miller I like but isn't getting any younger, lacks goals.
3. Boyd hopless unless been spoon fed by creative players to which we have none.
4. Clark not good by a long way, not gers class.
5. shiels average, mckay light weight impact winger at best.
6. Stevie May good up coming scottish player turn of pace and full of goals.

12 Aug 2014 21:04:21
Nonsense. Gallagher is a big striker, Burrows is big and extremely quick. Put either of them alongside either Boyd or Miller and you might get somewhere.

I think the real reason McCoist is naming Green's timing, is that he knows if Green returns, he will probably get the heave ho as Green hinted previously that he would not tolerate failure.
I worked for Green back in the late 80's and I can confirm he has a low tolerance level and doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Anyway, maybe now the "unbeaten" tag has gone, we can start trying harder to play football and make more effort all round.
Ask anyone, the last few steps up the mountain are ALWAYS the hardest, but we can get there with effort and a few lucky breaks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2014 10:59:25
OP what are you talking about, "the last few steps up the mountain"? Winning the spfl and getting a decent run in the CL is the real mountain. We are currently only in the foothills having barely left base camp. Being puffed out now is not a sign of being near the end of the journey.

During our season in the third division after we played Queens Park for the third time I put a post on here saying that McCoist should have looked at young players like their 17 year old left back and left winger as they had played well against us in all four games. Robertson and Spittall. My point was that they were good enough for Queens to play them in every first team game, they would've cost buttons to buy and wages would've been buttons too. And since we were a third division team, whether we liked it, agreed with it or not, then this was the kind of players we should have been investing in. I was shot down by someone who said Rangers will never sign a third division player. Well look at Robertson now. United have had a great season out of him and made a lot of money as well. I wish I could remember his name but even more so I wish our manager was able to spot the young talent that the vast majority of our support are able to. If he keeps playing McLeod out of position not only will it have an adverse effect on the boys development but how long before he gets fed up and wants to jump ship too? And to be honest who could blame him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Staring management in the eye and didn't see it. Perhaps too preoccupied with scouting Peralta in Honduras. Bit further away than Hampden but worth a try.

I can't see McLeod leaving as he's getting game time but others might look at Telfer's example and move on. The chances for youth players being selected are slim at best as we pursue our policy of trusting SPL experience. Lots of posts saying we don't look fit. Maybe just older.

let's be honest here. Maybe Ally doesn't read the forums or listen to the phone ins, but his PR men do. They know exactly what the public is thinking and is saying. So in that sense Ally knows. So for the life of me I can't understand why he is still here. don't get me wrong I still think he is a Rangers man. But I think he also has people in Rangers telling him its not his fault that circumstances out of his control are the reason we can't play well or that its effecting players. Now I don't know what is really going on behind close doors and with the things that are continuing to happen I don't think anyone does. But changes have to start somewhere and Ally has to stand up and say you know what I have to sacrifice myself. Maybe that will start a ball rolling. Personally I don't know. But if it was me and I heard people who once idolized me starting to turn against me I would leave my post but not give up hope. I would try and find a club and manager that I could be assistant to and learn my trade again. Just because I was under Walter doesn't make me as good as him. So ally I think its time to rethink, leave, go find a young manager who is up and coming and learn from him. don't let the name Super Ally leave a sour taste in our mouths.

If u were on macoists wages would u walk away macoist will be there to he is pushed ally is only there for ally what the fans or anyone else says don't matter his latest excuse about green is diabolical the one certain I f green comesback ally will be sacked

one game and already its all doom and gloom. Mind you can't argue with the comments. Looks like Plan A has stuttered a wee bit, still.
I hear Ally is looking to hire someone to check the team sheets vs the players on the park and see if any of the opposition play a suspended player. Plan B being implemented as we speak.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Actually it's been doom and gloom under McCoist from day one, this is just another low point but not unexpected, he struggled against much lower opposition for 2 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Smokey Bear - did you not celebrate winning the last two leagues then? Ally is not employed to play free flowing football; his one aim is to win the league. Ask yourself this, would you swap winning the last two leagues for having watched great football and finishing mid-table?

Ally is doing the job he is employed to do, all this doom and gloom from day one stuff is pure and utter nonsense

Agree0 Disagree0

@JonnoSTB - no I did not celebrate spending £8 million on players wages and another £800,000 on McCoist to barely compete with part timers, McCoists job is to rebuild Rangers into a football team that can eventually compete with Celtic, I have not seen one shred of evidence that he is capable of that but 3 dire seasons have proved he isn't to most of us.
Yes I would swap a team of younger players brought up through the lower leagues and improving over scraping 2 meaningless trophies against amatuers playing dire "football" and the squad of overpaid under performing has beens and nobodies that saint alistair has assembled, who he even slags off when they lose! minus the players he did the dirty on like Neil Alexander etc and all of the staff that were made redundant to make that £8million + his £800k wage bill available. McCoists ineptitude has cost Rangers an absolute fortune and the repercussions of his signings will be felt for years especially since he has a "no youth" policy to go with his "no tactics" playing policy.

All the doubters below don't be crying when u can't get to the title party at the end of season.
If they play on the streets we will support them from the pavements. how times have changed. if u support a team u support through good and bad right to the end.

It is embarrassing, all the doom merchants out in force after one game. Ally is not going anywhere, accept it and back the team.

Some people have this arrogant belief that we have a devine right to win every game.

Moaning koontz do my head in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do support the team. I am one of the fools who renewed their season ticket. I go most weeks and am old enough to have supported the team through bad times. When Greig was the manager and when Wallace came back for the second time but none of it is as bad as this. Yes McCoist has had a difficult period to manage the club through but he is tactically inept. The players don't play for him. Good players have went backwards under him (Templeton). Has bought the lower leagues with players that have no sell on value. where will we be when these guys are out of contract? He has allowed youth to leave the club. Teller walked into the first team of United and like it or not, they are a far better team than us. We are now playing at a higher level and I do not believe that this man will take us to the next level we sneed to be at. Open your eyes because things will not improve under this manager. His post match and media comments portray him for the clown he is. This gives me no pleasure to write because as a player he was an absolute legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have the right to be entertained when we part with our hard earned cash and that's not happened under Ally. We want to watch players who can entertain that hasn't happened under Ally. It was summed up yesterday when Black went off. Instead of bringing on Aird and switching McLeod to the middle he brings on Hutton!

Agree0 Disagree0

AB72. I don't believe we have a devine right to win every game. However I think we have a right to expect a lot more from this team and it's coaches. After two years in the lower leagues I think it's unacceptable to see the team continuing to perform in the same manner. McCoist and this coaching team so no signs of innovation or tactical nuance whatsoever and appear utterly incapable of changing their game plan, if there even is one, in any meaningful way. I think most people on here would agree with me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wits embarrassing is mccoist blaming other people.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stewie, that's exactly the same point myself and my mates were making in the pub after the game with regards to aird and mcleod, it was crying out for width on the right, and someone to play through the middle and that would have been the ideal switch!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Divine even.

Agree0 Disagree0

@6

To me it was a no brainer but in reality I wasn't surprised Ally put on Hutton. What does baffle me is that a guy who has played at the highest level can't see such a simple move? You would also think a striker that relied upon good service to score would see that is exactly what we lack but that is beyond him

10 points on how ALLY MUST GO!

1. No good football since he became manager
2. only one player has improved under him and still played out of position (mccloud)
3. Gets rid of young players and replaces them with has been ex rangers players who were good 3/4 years ago!
4. can't pick out a player eg. bedoya, mckay, cribari, boshni to name a few off many!
5. Plays all our good players out of position!
6. Has to much loyalty to each player can't drop anyone even when they are playing bad!
7. Has no enthusiasm on the touchline! doesn't get the team motivated!
8. Has no tactical brain! can't change a game!
9. Has never won a trophy in 4 years other than the two leagues that a donkey could have one!
10. Last but not least don't want him to really ruin his legency status by becoming arguably our worst manager ever!

I would have had more respect for amac if he just said, we were the better team but didn't have the luck today. Instead of blaming the talk of green returning upsetting his players.

My op was we were the better team for most of the match but didn't seem to know how to attack. Boyd was sackless miller ran like a horse but no end game.

Glad we got beat, sick of hearing about unbeaten run.
