Agree0 Disagree0

I would love this team to happen. I think we'd sail to the treble, i really do. But as the reply above states, we're not getting Juhasz or Vehoek and the runours about Weiss and Lovenkrands are just paper talk at this stage.

McKay will get his permit in the next few days, and expect to see a bid for an un-named striker. Lopez is apparently showing up well in his trial spell with us.

Also, to all bears, sign up now to the clubs new official twitter.

this is a list of players i think we should go for let me know what you all think .........

alexi eremenko £675,000 - £800,000
zat knight £1,000,000-£1,750,000
murray davidson £500,00-£750,000
tshabalala £1.500,000-£2,500,000
nile ranger £1,000,000-£1,750,000
the last one i know is a bit far out but have seen similar things happen in italy in the past if i were rangers manager i would offer st mirren a fast return on there outlay for nigel hasselbiank really really think he is going to be the star of the season outwith the oldfirm and i dont think st mirren would be able to knock back around£1,000,000 and i totally beleve this wee guy will go for a few million to the prem in a few seasons so why not get in there now but this time with an offer they cant refuse instead of all this opening bid of a fiver rubbish we are being forced to suffer.......

and if it was just the one major signing same as last year then i would go for nicky maynard £4,000,000-£5,000,000
this guy would be perfect for jelavic

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Alright mate. Iv posted on here cpuple of days ago sayin rangers should swoop for theyoung raw tallent of nigel hassbank, hes brilliant. But no ones said anything back to me lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Maynard would be good but the rest no.

More home grown talent than overseas garbage

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the lad hasslebaink is a good talent too, maybe snap him up after this season, we should have signed Mehdi Touil also, eremenko

all three would have cost FA and would defo improve the squad

Rangers have turned down the opportunity to take former player Peter Lovenkrands back to Ibrox.

Rangers have rejected the chance to bring the popular player back to the club, as they continue their pursuit of new signings with just under three weeks left in the summer transfer window.

STV website says Rangers have turned down the chance to re-sign Lovenkrands. I've been patient, but would like to see a striker that we know can partner the Jellyfish(we all know the guys class). If we don't,then I think that no-one can have any qualms if the guy bolts. Or are we all hoping that Lavvypan will return on fire??? Even if so,we all know that we need 4 strikers.Still behind wee Sally, just wish the guy would keep his trap shut about signing players (by Monday etc.),and get somebody in that will get the fans on side. What's going 2 happen if Celtic win their first 10 games?. Fingers out lads the future's bright.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Can't you call people by their right name?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey mate, how are you? I am a celtic fan and obviously like a bit of banter and I hope you do not mind me answering your post. Do not worry about us winning our first 10 games - this aint gonna happen with our total failure to sign a goalie You will be fine - Zaluska will cost us points. Anyway, hope Papac recovers well.

11 Aug 2011 19:06:42
We have been absolutley pathetic in the transfer market this season, im embarrassed, and completely p****d off with Rangers, our board our chairman and Ally for bending over, and taking it all of this without saying something this bouloaune (spelling) defender is apparently atrotious, on his wiki page it says he had to be subbed in 1 game coz he was so poor, and the whole crowd booed him so hope we dont persue him, McKay looks decent, but once again going for shockingly cheap players (£250,000) and hes never played in europe, so unproven. Im sick to the back teeth of our club pussy footy about, we must have made over 50 bids for players with 95% of them bein rejected, e.g - 7 bids for Goodwillie rejected, 3 bids for verhoek rejected and 4 bids for Juhasz rejected. Its absolutley outragous And all we hear is, "dont worry we will make the signins", yeah we will make signings, but not our 1st choice, 2nd choice or even 3rd choice players we wanted in the beggining, instead were goin for players who are 4th 5th and 6th choice on our transfer list, toatally pathetic. they club say they wanted to tie deals up for cuellar (2.5Million) Verhoek (2million) Juhasz (3million) and Goodwillie (2.5million) so that = £11Million, do you really think whyte is going to spend £11Million on new players???? No chance, its all a smoke screen, so he has an excuse wen september the 1st comes and we have only spent 2-4million, he can turn round and say, "well we were prepared to spend £11Million on them 4 players, but thats football, somtimes you get the players you want, somtime u dont" I honestly dont think Rangers have a clue what to do and how to operate in the transfer market, its absolute shambles, add a rookie manager to that and things dont look good, dont get me wrong i love mccoist, pure legend, but is he letting things slide that sir Walter would'nt?? If we dont sort things out very soon, i can see Mr Whyte Being Hated by certain sections of the fans, and to be honest, if things dont get better regarding playes purchase's then i wouldnt blame them Pls post this as would love to hear if sum of my fellow bears fans feel as frustrated as i do. Thanks.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

You also forgot to take into account the money that's been brought in with Adams sell on clause and bougherras fee as well, almost get the impression that we under bid for players so they(management) can say they tried to get them , it's just an opinion looking from the outside that's all.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with every thing uve said and what th hell is gordon smith ment 2 b doing [spambo]

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think our dealings so far have bad wait to you see the pish we end up with when we get closer to the when the transfer window closes and they start to panic buy.
Remember Ally told us he had made up two lists of players he wanted. One for if the club got sold and one for if the bank were still in control. Well its beginning to look like hes running out of ideas.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheer up mate. It could be worse. You could be a giro pirate septic fan

Liverpool defender Danny Wilson has revealed that he would welcome a loan move back to former club Rangers.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Lovenkrands would be awesome if he came back but I highly doubt it. I know his wife is from Glasgow so I dont know. He hasnt lost any of his attributes, pacey, skillful and can score. Great player when with us. He loved a goal against Celtic.

I think lovenkrands would be a great signing. He has a knack of scoring goals against the better teams including the celts, he also scored some very important goals in europe. He can also play wide left or thru middle and I would imagine the fee would be reasonable. Think he would be a very good addition

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2011 16:58:27
Thought Danny Wilson was a stick out last night, dont know if loan is poss. but would be really pushing to find out.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

A loan deal would be possible, but we have not shown any interest in him. We could do alot worse than Wilson and Bartley at the back. We are looking at players with experience which is good, but with that comes problems with fitness. Example Gioan. Wilson would love to go back to Rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilson strolled the game last night and i'd love it if he were still a Ger, but all these loan moves worry me personally. At the end of the season he goes back to Liverpool, Bartley goes back to Arsenal, Weir retires and we're back at square one. I don't mind a couple of loan signings but Whyte indicated he had money to spend and we are entitled to ask questions about all these apparent loan deals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have him back in a minute

Agree0 Disagree0

If he came i would play him alongside Goian with Bartley in front of the back four in a 4-1-4-1.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2011 16:56:25
Naismith would be first pic for either up front either wing or sitting infront of mid field

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I agree, Naismith is a great wee player, always try's his hardest and has an eye for goal. He will just get better and better. Future Rangers captain if we can keep hold of him.

I want rangers to have a young exciting mainly brittish team.

Team:
Mcgregor
Whittaker Bartley cuellar Wallace
Weiss ness Davis. Templeton
Naismith
Jelavic
All permanent except Bartley
Cost 5m
Weiss £3.5m
Templeton £1.5m

Also murphy £875k

Opinions please

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Great team i wish ally would listen to these sites

Agree0 Disagree0

Templeton doubtful hearts will sell him to us, murphy has there even been any contact again doubtful, Weiss already been stated that Mancini wont let him back, cuellar still in the balance , good idea but just looks like no more money to spend or at least a reluctance to spend.

Although I was gutted we missed out on K Miller, I think we have had some good business in transfer window thus far.

IN: Ortiz £500k, Goian £500k, Wallace £1.5m,
McKay £325k

Out: Bougherra £1.7m, sell on clause Adam £800k

Net spend £325k

New contracts for Davis and McGregor are great signings
I only wish we swapped Whittaker for Kenny Miller then bought a new Right Back even Hutton for £3m if he would return.
I dont think Goodwillie is worth £2m (YET) but obviously he is potentially worth double that, and if King Carlos returns we will have a better squad than last year and they done well with only points dropped in middle of season when we were involved in EVERY competition and had a backlog of games and both our main hitmen were away for half a season each.
Jelavic top scorer in Europa league 33/1 worth a few quid I think as is Kenny Miller at 25s for Championship goalden boot.
Stop critisising Whyte when he has saved us and doesn't want it happening again fair play I say.

INJURY UPDATE

Papac Not Serious
11-08-2011
SASA PAPAC will miss Saturday's trip to Inverness but Rangers are keen to point out that he does NOT have pneumonia.

Close friend Nikica Jelavic is expected to shake off a knee knock to take on Terry Butcher's side and Dorin Goian could also be back but the match in the Highlands is probably too soon for Davie Weir.

Papac travelled to Bosnia earlier this week with the intention of ending his international exile but felt unwell and was immediately ruled out of the game with Greece.

He will return to Murray Park where he will be assessed by the medical team who have confirmed that he does not have pneumonia, contrary to reports elsewhwere today.

Papac won't be ready to face Inverness and is suspended for next Thursday's Europa League Play-off first leg with Maribor after two yellow cards in the Champions League qualifier with Malmo.

However, he could be back to take on Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday, August 21.

Jelavic, meanwhile, suffered a slight knee knock in the friendly with Chelsea last weekend but he is on target to play at Inverness.

Dorin Goian and Davie Weir have been working with the physios all week as they recover from hamstring strains and it is the Romanian centre back who has the better chance of playing on Saturday.

Rangers have also to make a decision on whether Steven Whittaker can play as he has a broken toe.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Lovenkrands is not a winger he is a striker who had i repeat had pace and a very very average finish

I only tell it like I see it. If others see it different then so be it. It's good to talk. :-)

I'm no a religious man. "Blind faith" don't appeal to me. I believe in what I can see, and so far, it hasn't been much.

Maybe there is a great plan, Epl squads need to be announced sometime soon etc. so some quality players will no doubt become available. Signings made at the last minute need not be duff quite clearly and people can cite the odd example. I would say generally it's obviously advantageous if you have a measured approach in the transfer market. Identify three or four you want and go and get them. Of course you won't necessarily get them all, some clubs will possibly be difficult to deal with etc. but so far Rangers have allegedly pursued twelve or more, and secured three- Bartly a loan. So two from eleven really. As has been said, we can't categorically say arrivals were inadequate until the window shuts. It's my opinion that the way we've gone about things so far has been pure farce though and I personally don't believe it will all come right, though I obviously hope it does.

It will be a frustration if we lose the league when just a few additions I think would do us as the other lot really aren't up to much. If Whyte has the cash he needs to back the manager.

Fed up with our negative attitude towards the lesser teams in the SPL. We are Glasgow Rangers and should be attacking these guys Kyle Lafferty cost more than the whole squad of a bottom six team so although we aren't full of quality we're style miles away from everyone else but Celtic and if we can beat the rest with positive football then pump the manky mob when it matters we'll be fine.

I think a 3-5-2 is the attacking formation we need and that would also hopefully lift the damp squib atmosphere we have had to deal with at Ibrox for to long now. Here's the team I reckon we should play with the squad available at present.

Shagger
Bartley-Weir-Goian
Whittaker-Davis-Mculloch-Ness-Wallace
Naismith-Jelavic

Strong attacking team with options to change if the match isn't going our way. Agree, Disagree? And any thoughts Ed?

go with the same formation that was scoring goals for fun during the run in last season

Papac is distinctly average mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if you read the post mate you'd see it's not a 5-3-2 as Whittaker and Wallace would be told to play as wingers and attack. It's only defensive if that's how you play Could still have Naismith on the wing with Laff up front if you wanted. Point im making is we should attack and we DO have options.

Are we no well on the way to adding to the list of notables you name: nuno capucho, egil ostenstad et al when we have to take whatever dross is left at the end of the window?

Presumably our top targets were pursued first?

I wouldn't confuse complete and utter ineptitude in the transfer market to date with some grand, considered plan that shall result in no last-minute rubbish signings. On the contrary, I'd suggest we're well along the road to a few more, as each day passes with heehaw happening.

In the Sun today that the contents of the ibrox trophy room would be valued if we lose the appeal against HMRC..

I don't know about the rest of you fellow bluenoses but I would fight to protect ibrox and it's contents from tees vultures - if it comes to it, EVERY Rangers fan should be at ibrox and see if the taxman can get through us {Ed001's Note - you do realise that the Sun are not exactly honest don't you? It is standard procedure to value the assets of any company that owes money to HMRC, stop stressing. It will only matter if no agreement is made to pay the money, that would be months down the road yet.}

Theres enough people tax dodging out there and people who pay their taxes are the one's who end up having to make up for the shortfall. The vultures as you call them are only doing their job. Mcgregor
Whittaker
Goian
Cuellar
Wallace
Bartley (dmc)
Ness
Davis
Naismith and morrison either side just off jelavic.
Thoughts? You would have bartley as your ball winner, davis and ness who are comfortable in possesion and can pick a pass and 2 really good wide men who can drop back to midfield in europe and play advanced in spl

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The 4-1-4-1 formation is one of my football manager favs, just so long as naismith and morrisson did play wide... if not it turns into more of a 4-1-2-2-1 and thats no good. Like to see morrison at ibrox... anyone know if he's a bluenose? {Ed032's Note - as far as i'm aware he was brought up in darlington and has no old firm allegiences, it was his grandparents that were scottish.}

50 worst signings made by Premier
League clubs since its inception in
1992, based on the size of transfer
fee and impact made by the player.

No 45 Georgios Samaras,
Heerenveen to Manchester City,
£6m, January 2006

A lack of goals led to Stuart Pearce’s
sacking as manager and the Greece
striker was among the chief culprits.

Will history repeat itself at Parkhead.

Blue bells are blue

Believable1 Unbelievable2

If it was the the spl there wud only be 1 man 4 that crown..... toro andre cash flo

Agree0 Disagree0

And in Scotland

No 1 - Torre Andre Flo to Rangers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Althought flo cost 12 million hardly think he was the worst signing in spl history considering he scored 30+ goals in a season.Dont get me wrong was playing in great team just we were expecting miracles due to the fee which was not his fault. If it had been 6 million at that time no one would have batted an eyelid . Still a decent return for a striker can't think of that many who hit 30 a season . Boyd , Larsson , Negri , Mcoist .Hardly worst signing in history even with the huge fee

Agree0 Disagree0

The most he scored was 22 goals5 mill loss after 2 yearsstart off our debt problems

Agree0 Disagree0

The most he scored as 22 goals? hmmm, i beg to differ. in his first season he had 23 appearances and scored 13, in his second season he had 51 appearances and scored 27 goals and before he left he had 11 appearances and scored 2, so in total of 85 appearances he score 42, which in my opinion is a really terrible return.

Bluenose1873

why do we continue to buy players who can play in 2 or 3 posistions, most of the time they never play in there rightful position and end up being half the player they could be. charlie adam, rino gattuso, steve davis etc. ally buy a right back to play at right back , a left winger to play on the left wing and if the left winger gets injured bring in a left winger from the reserves, do not put a left back on the wing. play players in there rightfull position and give them a chance. denzil

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Professional players, if they are any good, should be able to play a variety of positions. I do agree that players should be either left sided, or right sided with the ability to play defence and midfield. Two footed players with two good stong feet, are rare and are generally midfielders, or strikers. In the end m8, you should able to just go out and play at that level, some guy's do look like they would rather be somewhere else if not played in their " rightful " positions, only my opinion. 4 inarow

Agree0 Disagree0

When you have a small squad it is useful to hvae players that can fill in elsewhere, as far as gattuso that was advocat being an idiot and putting him at right back didnt fit in with his dutch total football midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

No mate, you buy players to play a certain position because you want to play a certain style of football and having the right players in the right positions should enable you to do that.

In a perfect world you'd have 2 good players for each position, When 1 drops out, the other comes in.

In our situation it's handy to have a couple of guys that are versatile to fill in the gaps, but only if your desired 1st team aren't all available.

Though the down side is it restricts the blooding of youth.

To all the bears that are in a panic, who have been their big signings this year?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

It is due on the 13th August

Agree0 Disagree0

..Think you,ll find celtic were £14.7 million net debt last year...and with more bad news to come rumour has it celtic are in debt to the tune of nearly £30million...head in the sand for a lot of the bhoys me thinks..

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtics debt is all underwritten by Dermot Desmond, which ensures the club would never end up being run by the banks, Hearts are in debt to the tune of 20 odd million and their debt is underwritten by Romanov. Its highly unlikely that either club would find themselves in the same position as Rangers were in with the bank running the club. Desmond and Romanov would be liable to service these debts should the clubs be unable to pay. Very different from Rangers position.

Ur right rangers are debt free ya muppet.

Rumour has it that if Rangers were to go down paying 20m plus with the tax avoidance that the whole of the EPL teams will be probed into by HMRC Now that would be a DISASTER {Ed032's Note - How do you know this?}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

To clarify this. We are being probed in to payments made to offshore accounts for players in the past 10 years this figure is around 24million. Several English Premier League clubs are also said to be under investigation for purportedly using similar means to save their players thousands of pounds in taxes each month. Rangers offered to settle out of court to the tune of 10 million however HMRC refused as they are looking for 5 times that amount due to fines and fees should Rangers be found guilty. The 2.4 million is a completely different tax bill which is being dealt with by Mr Whyte and hes has always stated his intention of paying this debt. Walker Love entered Ibrox yesterday on instruction from HMRC which was branded as nothing more than a PR stunt as MR Whyte and his lawyers were in London speaking with HMRC at the time.
Source: Google: Rangers hit back at Taxman read the story published this morning

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely if Rangers were willing to settle out of court then they must be liable in the ongoing Tax investigation. Craig Whyte claims they will win this case so who do we believe. I.R I reckon. Craig Whyte has also stated that If they lose the tax case, administration is a possible option.
